Setup HIS 2013
I am working on POC to use HIS 2013/SNA to connect to our CICS regions instead of using SNA 4.0 over token ring.
I am following thro the following steps
1. Setup the link service to use TCP/IP
2. What are teh different components here that relates to my network so i can try to get it?
Hello,
You have to specify here at least the Primary NNS : IP address
Network Name : "like APPN"
Control point name : "here you can specify the same of your HIS Server"
Check : Use Dynamic PU Definition.
Here's a good starting point documentation : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17441

How can I block all other mail account just to only use the exchange mailbox of our company? This is to prevent the user to setup his on company iPhone.
I don't know if I'm asking this all in a way that can be understood? Thanks ED3K, however that part I do understand (in the link you provided!)
What I need to know is "how" I can separate or rather create another Apple ID for my son-who is currently using "my Apple ID?" If there is a way to let him keep "all" his info on his phone (eg-contacts, music, app's, etc.) without doing a "reset?') Somehow I need to go into his phone's setting-create a new Apple ID and possibly a new password so he can still use our combined iCloud & Itunes account?
Also then letting me take back my Apple ID & password, but again allowing us (my son and I) to use the same iCloud & Itunes account? Does that make more sense??? I'm sincerely trying to get this cleared up once and for all----just need guidance from someone who has a true understanding of the whole Apple iCloud/Itunes system!
Thanks again for "anyone" that can help me!!! -
After installing Host Integration Server 2013, I do not see any of the SDK Sample directories on the file system.
Did I miss something in the install or are these samples not part of the install media anymore???
Thanks,
Gary ClantonHIS 2013 is available as a supplemental license to BizTalk 2013. This means that you have to license one of the BizTalk Server 2013 Editions to get a license for HIS 2013. You don't need to install and use BizTalk Server in order to use HIS. You only need
to install BizTalk Server if you need to use one of the BizTalk Adapters that is included with HIS.
You didn't indicate what type of applications that you will be communicating with on the IBM mainframe. If you will be communicating with CICS or IMS transactions on the mainframe, then you'd likely want to take a look at the Transaction Integrator (TI)
feature in HIS 2013. You can use TI with a WCF service. See
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn150066(v=bts.80).aspx#application for an overview of the Application Integration feature of HIS 2013. You might also want to look through the following topic:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn149782(v=bts.80).aspx
The HIS 2013 SDK does include sample applications. When the SDK is installed, it gets installed to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server 2013 SDK v1.0
Under this folder, you will see the following folders:
- ApplicationIntegration
- BizTalkAdapters
- DataIntegration
- MessageIntegration
- NetworkIntegration
- SessionIntegration
Under each of these folders are samples specific to those features. For example, under ApplicationIntegration there are two additional folders: HostInitiated and WindowsInitiated. The WindowsInitiated folder includes samples for Transaction Integrator where
TI initiates transactions by calling application on the IBM host system. Under WindowsInitiated, you will find a WcfService folder that has a TI WCF sample application. You'd also want to look at the ApplicationIntegrationStarterGuide sample because it describes
many of the new TI features in HIS 2013.
If TI doesn't fit the needs, then you need to look at the other HIS features to see what might work for the IBM integration scenario that you are working on.
You might also want to look at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/biztalk/hh441721 as this site has many links to HIS specific resources.

Converting TI Object from HIS 2006 to HIS 2013
Hello
I am attempting to convert my current HIS 2006 TI objects to run in HIS 2013 and have encountered the following issues:
1. Unable to open my TI object .DLL file in TI Designer within Visual Studio 2012. I have run the TI Conversion Tool to convert my TI object to be compatible with HIS 2013, however I am now unable to open this in TI Designer as I get the following error
message "Failed to load the library. It might not be generated by Host Integration Server Designer".
2. My TI Object is self-hosted and I have a Web Service that references this TI Assembly. When I try and invoke this web service it fails and when I check my WCF trace file it is telling me that a method in my TI assembly cannot be found. This is after I
have converted the DLL file via the TI conversion tool.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why these 2 issues are occuring and how I can resolve this.
Thanks
SeanTransaction Integrator went through a lot of changes in HIS 2013. Here are a few of the key changes:
- TI Manager has been removed from the product.
- TI WIP and HIP configuration is now included in a app.config (or web.config) file
- HIS Designer has been updated to produce XML based meta data definition files. These files have an extension of "hidx" (Host Integration Definition XML). The hidx file replaces the TI meta data assembly as the media used by TI
designer.
If you haven't, you should download and install the HIS 2013 SDK from
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=41557.
After installing the SDK, you should take a look at the readme files associated with the ApplicationIntegrationStarterGuide sample under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server 2013 SDK v1.0\ApplicationIntegration\WindowsInitiated.
You should start with the Readme_01_Changes.txt file as it explains many of the changes in TI.
When you ran the TIConversionTool, it should have created a HIDX file based on the old HIS 2006 TI assembly. You should be able to open the HIDX file in VS2012 and see the methods and parameters just like you did with the Designer for HIS 2006. It should
have also created a backward compatible DLL in a \bin folder in the output location specified when running the conversion tool.
Hope this helps.
Thanks...

Hello
I have another set of TI objects that I have converted to run in HIS 2013 as we have upgraded from HIS 2006 to HIS 2013. I have written a stand-alone test client application that consumes these TI objects successfully
and everything works fine.
The issue is that our ASMX web service that consumes these TI objects no longer works. We have re-compiled the ASMX web service in .NET framework 4.5 and made the relevant changes using the new ClientContext() class as required and the web service compiled
successfully, however when we run a test client against this service we see the following error in the event logs "Internal message routing error:
process id 2604, mhtype 1, msgtype 19 EXPLANATION This is an internal error in Host Integration Server.".
We turned on HIS tracing and can see the last entry is "HISTSNA0013 The SNATransport is calling CMALLC." and then it stops.
Any ideas why this is occuring and should our ASMX web service be able to consume the HIS 2013 TI objects?
Thanks
SeanHi Sean,
Have you correctly configured the SNA Connection ? Can you please open the SNA Manager and running the Diagnostics to see if the SNA Sessions are correctly established.
In addition have you added the new config settings for HIS 2013 (web.config) in order to use the correct settings (like Remote Environment) ?

Move from HIS 2010 to HIS 2013
We are in a process of upgrading our servers to Windows Server 2012. This is done by installing new servers. We will install HIS 2013 on Windows 2012 Server . We have a lot of HIS 2010 objects (both WIP and HIP) which we want to move over. WIP objects
are currently hosted as ASP.NET Worker process on HIS 2010. Is it possible to move these objects to HIS 2013 just using generated dll's from VS 2010/HIS 2010 ? I know that it is possible to upgrade 2010 to 2013, but we have installed an empty HIS 2013, and
want to do a "move" from HIS 2010 and run 2010/2013 in parallel. I am also looking for docs how to "Connect" HIS 2013 to IIS using TICT to IIS as we did in TI in HIS 2010 when we deployed Objects hosted as ASP.NET Worker process.
Jan TerjeHello Jan,
I've done this kind of migration last year with more than 1500 TI Objects :-)
Yes, it's possible to move easy from HIS 2010 to HIS 2013 by converting the TI Objects using the TIConversionTool (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server 2013\SysWow64).
The Problem with the TIConversionTool is that it doesn't replace directly the assemblies but it creates a folder structure with the converter TI Object. It's also possible to Open the HIS 2010 TI Objects in Visual Studio 2010/2012 with HIS 2013. The Objects
will be converted after you are saving again the Assemblies.
In addition you have to change your web.config files because the HIS Assembly Version has changed from 7.0 to 9.0.
Please let me know if you need more information or help !

I didn't realize that you just want to delete those templates before until I see it today.
Do you mean you have done the following already:
1). Delete unwanted project folders from path: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates";
2). Delete "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplatesCache";
3). Run the devenv /installvstemplates command.

HIS 2013 installer "set automatic log on" not working
Hello,
This was my first attempt at using this feature however when the server rebooted during the install, it did not automatically log back on (with my own credentials). Is there something else that needs to be in place for this to work?
Thanks, Jim.Hello,
This can be a bug in the HIS 2013 Installer. I recommend you to do the restart (autologin) manually like this :
You will need to have an account with a password for this to work.
Run regedit.exe
Navigate to
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\winlogon
Set or create the following keys
AutoAdminLogon = "1"
DefaultUserName = Your user name
DefaultPassword = Your password
Restart and let us know if it works!
Hope this helps you :-)

Microsoft HIS 2013 - Replacing COM.CFG
Hello Technet,
I have the following setup :
2 Microsoft Host intergration 2013 servers (1 primairy and 1 secundairy )
Windows server 2012 R2
Each server has around 150 printers, they are diffrent.
I've encouterd a problem while starting the Microsoft SNA manager tool on the secundairy server. When pressing the button for the manager tool it just do's nothing (No errors in eventlog), except for adding an instance of MMC.EXE in task manager. When opening
MMC and then add the Snapin "Sna manager", after the selection of the config file locaiton MMC.exe hungs and i am forced to kill it.
I've checked the folder rights, services and their service accounts and so far i can see everything is the same as the primairy HIS server.
Both servers are functioning correctly, all prints are printing as they should. I can change the settings within SNA manager on the primairy server but it just bugs me why sna manager wont work on the secondairy server :(. I guess the config
file is currupt or something.
My question is,what is the best practice ? Is it possible to copy the COM.CFG file from the primairy server to the secondairy server and overwrite it without any problems? Or shall i rename the COM.OLD to COM.CFG so that the old config ( 2 days older
so it's no problem ) will be the main config file, and should i do this on the primairy server aswell ?
Thanks in advance!
M.The only read/write copy of the HIS COM.CFG is located on the Primary HIS Server. Whenever a configuration change is made it is made to the copy on the Primary HIS Server, even if you made the change from SNA Manager on the Secondary HIS Server. After the
configuration changes are made, the Primary HIS Server sends an update to the Secondary servers to let them know a change has been made. The Secondary HIS Servers will connect to the COMCFG share on the Primary HIS Server and then copy the new COM.CFG to its
\config folder.
Since things are running OK and you can make configuration changes from the Primary HIS Server, odds are that the COM.CFG is not corrupted.
You could try making a test change from SNA Manager on the Primary HIS Server and then see if the COM.CFG is updated on the Secondary HIS Server. This will indicate that the Secondary HIS Server is getting the notifications that changes have been made and
it is copying the updated file locally.
I assume that if you are logged into the Secondary HIS Server that you can connect to the
\\primaryHISservername\comcfg share. If not, maybe this is part of the problem. Also, you could try running Process Monitor while trying to open SNA Manager to see if that gives you any additional clues.
Thanks...

Four monitor setup on 2013 mac pro using old 23" Cinema Displays
My current monitor setup on a 2009 mac pro is four monitors. Three 23" Apple Cinema Displays (aluminum, mid 2000's) and one large Sony HDTV mounted to the wall as a fourth monitor.
I achieve this via 2 Geforce 120 video cards, each with a mini display port and a Dvi port each.
My question is, can I retain this same exact monitor setup on a new 2013 Mac pro cylinder? If so, what adapters will be needed, and do they all plug into the thunderbolt ports?
Hearing all kinds of nightmares about multiple monitor problems with the new MP so want to be sure this will work before I drop big bucks.
Thanks!Thanks for the quick reply!
For the Tv I'm currently going VGA out of that to a Dvi adapter into the old Mac Pro. The 3 Cinema Displays are all ether direct Dvi to the video card and two I have to use a Dvi to mini display port adapter.
So for the new Mac Pro, assuming I don't use the HDMI port, I would need Dvi to minidisplayport adapters for each of the 3 cinema displays and a VGA to minidisplayport for the TV?
EDIT: And the mini display ports may as well all be active I guess, and they need to plug into the usb bus for power?
Thanks -
Hello Everyone,
This is my first post on the Apple Support Community.
Nice to meet al of you!
System information:
Macbook Air medio 2013
Model MacBookAir6,2
Intel Core i7 1,7GHZ
8GB
512GB SSD
I am wondering if it is possible to have a dual monitor setup using the thunderbolt feature daisy-chain.
The configuration i am looking for is:
MBA --> Belkin Thunderbolt™ Express Dock (for using gigabit ethernet) --> Dell U2414H --> Dell U2414H
Specs:
Belkin Thunderbolt™ Express Dock = http://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F4U055/
Dell U2414H = http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&sku=860-BB CG
Do i have a chance this could work?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you all.
Thanks!
Kind regards,
Njamo187Hello,
I had the same problem with a nVidia GT120 card (2009 Mac Pro standard). OSX wouldn't show the gray screen on the 3090, even when it was connected alone (to the DVI port). Also, the login screen would always revert to the secondary display (connected thru the mini display port to DVI adapter).
After login, all was well.
Now I've solved the problem with an nVidia GTX 285 card. The 3090 is connected to the n.1 DVI port and the secondary display (a 1600x1200 Eizo L997) to the n.2 DVI port, and the Mac Pro boots correctly on the 3090 (gray screen and everything, at full 2560x1600 resolution).
Note that the first time I booted up the Mac after replacing the GT120 with the GTX 285 I had the same problem, and solved it by disconnecting the secondary display and then rebooting with the 3090 alone. Now everything works as it should.
Dont't know if there is a bug somewhere (EFI, maybe) of if the GT120 and your ATI are simply unable to work at full resolution before OSX desktop loading. -
Setup Sharepoint 2013 Extranet as separate farm
Hi All
We currently have a Sharepoint 2013 Intranet and would now like to setup a Sharepoint 2013 Extranet/Portal to allow external customers/clients a shared collaboration area to work with internal users. The proposed site would be fairly basic and most
likely comprise of a site page per customer with a few libraries and maybe some form of announcements. We don't envisage the demand being huge - maybe a few hundred users and 40/50 customer/client areas.
I just wanted to outline my plan / ideas in case I've missed any pitfalls or have missed anything obvious.
We plan to setup the extranet separately from our internal Sharepoint Intranet so the two sites will not need to communicate with each other and will be on two different domains.
The Extranet will be setup in our DMZ and be composed of 2 x SP Servers (App & Web); 2 x SQL; 2 x DC (all on VMWare). This follows the MS 'Back to Back' architecture but we do not plan to segment the DMZ area using routers.
We will also configure a one-way forest trust from the internal AD to the new external AD so that internal users can authenticate with their existing credentials.
The Topology diagram that I have seen states that you use a UAG between the DMZ and the Internet - is this necessary?
Any advice / guidance / tips appreciated
AndyAnother issue to consider is that you will need to open ports in order for the SharePoint servers in the DMZ to resolve users via the People Picker. The ports are outlined here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/wbaer/archive/2009/01/21/people-picker-port-protocol-requirements.aspx
You can use an IPSec tunnel between SharePoint in the DMZ and the internal network to limit the number of ports you need to open.
Another thing to consider is that while 2012 R2 does have WAP included, it requires ADFS and does not work with SharePoint Apps as it doesn't support wildcard domains.

2 sites with users best setup (Exchange 2013)
Hi,
I am looking to design an Exchange environment and am looking for some help!
The scenerio:
Site A and Site B are in the same domain but different locations, with active users who require email
Each site will have a DC and Exchange 2013, running Windows Server 2012 R2
Sites have very good\stable internet connection
From what I have read online there seems to be a lot of information but I am not sure what setup would be appropriate in my situation. The different setups I think are relevent
Option 1 - Single DAG
Site A
2 x multi-roled Exchange Servers
3 x Active databases per server
3 x Passive database (no-lag) per server
1 x Witness Server
Site B
2 x multi-roled Exchange Servers
3 x Active databases per server
3 x Passive database (no-lag) per server
The mailboxes will all be in one DAG.
Option 2 - Multiple DAG
Site A - DAG1
2 x multi-roled Exchange Servers
3 x Active databases per server
3 x Passive database (no-lag) per server
1 x Witness Server
Site B - DAG1
1 x multi-roled Exchange Server
0 x Active databases per server
6 x Passive database (no-lag) per server
Site A - DAG2
1 x multi-roled Exchange Server
0 x Active databases per server
6 x Passive database (no-lag) per server
Site B - DAG2
2 x multi-roled Exchange Servers
3 x Active databases per server
3 x Passive database (no-lag) per server
1 x Witness Server
Option 3 - Single DAG
Site A
2 x multi-roled Exchange Servers
3 x Active databases per server
3 x Passive database (no-lag) per server
Site B
2 x multi-roled Exchange Servers
3 x Active databases per server
3 x Passive database (no-lag) per server
Site C
1 x Witness Server
Now I have only mentioned Site C here because it has no servers, however it is a different location to Site A and B and so could host a witness server.
What I am strugling to find (or understand) is what actually happens to the databases in a WAN failure scenerio, in each option. What I am trying to design is a solution that allows Site A and Site B to continue having email send\receive if the WAN link
between the sites fails.
Help gratefully appreciated!
EDIT
One last question if I am going with Server 2012 R2 should the FSW also be on the same O/S? What i have read it doesn't matter but surely it would for dynamic quorum?Hi,
Based on my knowledge, if site A and site B lose connectivity to site C, all databases will stay mounted because it doesn't lose quorum.
If WAN connectivity is lost between site A and site B, one site of the two sites will retain quorum and the other site will lose quorum. For more details about this, you can refer to the "Misconception Number 2: Microsoft
recommends that you deploy the Witness Server in a third datacenter when extending a two-member DAG
across two datacenters" section in the following blog.

HIS 2013 HISServerConfig.xml example location and unattended install question
Hello,
I've never used the unattended part of the installer but wanted to give it a try. The installation guide refers to an example in the support\unattended_installs folder. I don't see that folder or file on the media I down loaded.
The guild also instructs to "save" the configuration during setup to create my own xml. I didn't see a "save" but tried using an export during my test unattended install but that didn't work. I would appreciate any help/information.
Thanks, Jim.Hi Jim,
you are right. Unlike stated in the Installation guide this folder doesn't exist.
Anyway, here it goes:
When you install HIS the latest Setup/configuration screen will provide a link to create a XML file. Anyway, exporting the XML file out of the configuration utility will create the reference XML of your current installation and configuration.
You may modify the XML file according to the required settings of your new Server by changing the subdomain name, role, etc....
Also please note that we do not store the password in the XML file for security reasons, so you need to add this manually.
Once done, please run a similar command according to you settings as below:
Setup.exe /InstallPlatform /L c:\HISInstall.log /S c:\HISServerConfig.xml /INSTALLDIR C:\HIS Configuration.exe /L c:\ConfigFramework.Log /S c:\HISServerConfig.xml
Options
The following table describes the command options.
/InstallPlatform
This flag causes the installation program to install any platform prerequisites.
/L c:\HISInstall.log
This flag determines the log file location that is created during setup.
/S C:\HISServerConfig.xml
This flag specifies the configuration file (list of features) that is used on installation. The file "HISServerConfig.xml" contains information about which features to install and how they should be configured. Sample copies of these files are located
in the Support\Unattended_Installs directory of the installation folder. This file can also be created during setup by clicking Save in the summary panel of the Configuration Tool.
/INSTALLDIR
This option tells Setup where to install the product.
The Setup.exe installs all required binaries according to you reference installation while the configuration.exe configures you HIS Server the same as the reference configuration.
Hope that helps

How do I setup SharePoint 2013 web applications for 2 TB of data?
Hi,
I know Microsoft recommend to have 1 App pool with 1 Web App and 1 Content Database.
The issue is that in my company SharePoint is going to be a file repository with about 2 TB of data. Management wants that to happen.
I was thinking to have 1 App pool and about 18 Web App for each department so that it can hold all that data with a maximum of 200 GB per Content DB in 2 SQL clustered servers.
Is that OK? Is this best practices?Chicho84,
Yes, in SharePoint it is suggested to not allow to grow content DB more than 200 GB. Now will your environment starts with 2TB (after migration) or it will steadyly migrate eventually 2TB data. If so that you can think of Host heard site collection with
individual content db.
I am sure that you know that SharePoint is not only a DMS but also come with variety of useful service like Search, Workflow, Forms, Social etc. Thease all are going to be a important tool in your organisation. So planing for other services and hardware
is also very important.
