Setup Oracle monitoring with SNMP

Hello,
I don't understand why I can't read oracle MIB (.1.3.6.1.4.1.111 ).
I have installed Oracle Entreprise manager and start it :
--> emctl start dbconsole .... started.
I have installed Oracle Management Agent and subagent.
emctl start subagent --> Starting sub agent already running..
Now I have some scripts below :
/exec/products/oracle/v10.2.0/agent10g/network/snmp/peer/CONFIG.encap

/exec/products/oracle/v10.2.0/agent10g/network/snmp/peer/start_peer (do I need to configure something ?)
I have lauch the command below :
/exec/products/oracle/v10.2.0/agent10g/network/snmp/peer/start_peer -a
--> All starting are down but there is this message in encap_peer.out
trap bind failure: Address already in use
+./encap_peer: error opening manager-role port(s)+ --> I have tested configuring an other port like 1165 but it is the same thing.
Below is the result of the netstat command, snmp port are open :
+$netstat -an |grep 161+
udp        0      0 0.0.0.0:1161                0.0.0.0:*
udp        0      0 0.0.0.0:161                 0.0.0.0:*
Do I need to configure something in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf ?
I dont understand what it is wrong.
Data are availlable with commande below :
snmpwalk -m all -v2c -c public 172.16.2.138:1165 1.3.6.1.4.1
But there is no data available for Oracle (.1.3.6.1.4.1.111 or .1.3.6.1.4.1.39).
Can you help me please ?
Thank you very much by advanced.

Hello,
below, this is my snmpd.conf configuration file, I have teste to include this line :
view systemview included .1.3.6.1.4 to allow oracle information but it didn't work.
Perhaps there is something that I have not understand.
B.
# snmpd.conf:
# An example configuration file for configuring the ucd-snmp snmpd agent.
# This file is intended to only be as a starting point. Many more
# configuration directives exist than are mentioned in this file. For
# full details, see the snmpd.conf(5) manual page.
# All lines beginning with a '#' are comments and are intended for you
# to read. All other lines are configuration commands for the agent.
# Access Control
# As shipped, the snmpd demon will only respond to queries on the
# system mib group until this file is replaced or modified for
# security purposes. Examples are shown below about how to increase the
# level of access.
# By far, the most common question I get about the agent is "why won't
# it work?", when really it should be "how do I configure the agent to
# allow me to access it?"
# By default, the agent responds to the "public" community for read
# only access, if run out of the box without any configuration file in
# place. The following examples show you other ways of configuring
# the agent so that you can change the community names, and give
# yourself write access to the mib tree as well.
# For more information, read the FAQ as well as the snmpd.conf(5)
# manual page.
# First, map the community name "public" into a "security name"
# sec.name source community
com2sec notConfigUser default public
# Second, map the security name into a group name:
# groupName securityModel securityName
group notConfigGroup v1 notConfigUser

# Make at least snmpwalk -v 1 localhost -c public system fast again.

# Finally, grant the group read-only access to the systemview view.
# group context sec.model sec.level prefix read write notif
access notConfigGroup "" any noauth exact systemview none none
# Here is a commented out example configuration that allows less
# restrictive access.
# YOU SHOULD CHANGE THE "COMMUNITY" TOKEN BELOW TO A NEW KEYWORD ONLY
# KNOWN AT YOUR SITE. YOU MUST CHANGE THE NETWORK TOKEN BELOW TO
# SOMETHING REFLECTING YOUR LOCAL NETWORK ADDRESS SPACE.

# Process checks.
# The following are examples of how to use the agent to check for
# processes running on the host. The syntax looks something like:
# proc NAME [MAX=0] [MIN=0]
# NAME: the name of the process to check for. It must match
# exactly (ie, http will not find httpd processes).
# MAX: the maximum number allowed to be running. Defaults to 0.
# MIN: the minimum number to be running. Defaults to 0.
# Examples (commented out by default):
# Make sure mountd is running
#proc mountd
# Make sure there are no more than 4 ntalkds running, but 0 is ok too.
#proc ntalkd 4
# Make sure at least one sendmail, but less than or equal to 10 are running.
#proc sendmail 10 1
# A snmpwalk of the process mib tree would look something like this:
# % snmpwalk -v 1 localhost -c public .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.2
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prIndex.1 = 1
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prIndex.2 = 2
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prIndex.3 = 3
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prNames.1 = "mountd"
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prNames.2 = "ntalkd"
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prNames.3 = "sendmail"
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prMin.1 = 0
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prMin.2 = 0
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prMin.3 = 1
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prMax.1 = 0
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prMax.2 = 4

# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prErrFix.1 = 0
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prErrFix.2 = 0
# enterprises.ucdavis.procTable.prEntry.prErrFix.3 = 0
# Note that the errorFlag for mountd is set to 1 because one is not
# running (in this case an rpc.mountd is, but thats not good enough),
# and the ErrMessage tells you what's wrong. The configuration
# imposed in the snmpd.conf file is also shown.
# Special Case: When the min and max numbers are both 0, it assumes
# you want a max of infinity and a min of 1.
# Executables/scripts
# You can also have programs run by the agent that return a single
# line of output and an exit code. Here are two examples.
# exec NAME PROGRAM [ARGS ...]
# NAME: A generic name.
# PROGRAM: The program to run. Include the path!
# ARGS: optional arguments to be passed to the program
# a simple hello world
#exec echotest /bin/echo hello world
# Run a shell script containing:
# #!/bin/sh
# echo hello world
# echo hi there
# exit 35
# Note: this has been specifically commented out to prevent
# accidental security holes due to someone else on your system writing
# a /tmp/shtest before you do. Uncomment to use it.
#exec shelltest /bin/sh /tmp/shtest
# Then,

# Usage:
# pass MIBOID EXEC-COMMAND
# This will pass total control of the mib underneath the MIBOID
# portion of the mib to the EXEC-COMMAND.
# Note: You'll have to change the path of the passtest script to your

  • X240 Cannot Setup Dual Monitors with Dockingstation

    Hello Community,
    I have the following setup;
    Laptop: Lenovo X240 (1 x displayport + DVI-D combined, 1 x VGA)
    Dockingstation: Prodock 40A1 20V
Monitor 1: LT2223pwc (display port, VGA, HDMI)
    Monitor 2: L1940pwd (DVI-D, VGA)
I have to connect monitor 1 with a display port cable.
I've tried to connect monitor 2 with the DVI-D cable, but the computer only recognizes monitor 1. Only when disconnecting the display port cable the computer sees monitor 2, hence my guess that you can only use either the display port or the DVI-D connection on the dockingstation.
The only way I can get a two monitor setup working is by connecting monitor 2 with a VGA cable, which delivers poor graphics.
Is there a possibility to get this properly working with a setup with two digital connections?
I've read something about daisy chaining, but I have no idea how to do this with the above setup.
Any advice is more then welcome.
    Regards,

Hi rwoutertje, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
I had to shift to the ThinkPad Ultra Dock for that. You can't use the DisplayPort and DVI at the same time on the ThinkPad Pro Dock.
    Hope this helps!

    HI
I have SCOM 2012 R2 in my environment. I want to do network device monitoring for Fortigate routers\firewalls. I have configured all firewall ports between my management server and fortigate device. I have created SNMP v1,v2 run as account and have added

  • Oracle database monitored using SNMP

    Hi guys,
I have a problem that I can't seem to find the answer too...I tried google-ing, but found only pieces, and can't seem to figure out the big picture...So here goes:
I am working with my team on a Data Warehouse project, and the entire app is written in PL/SQL and SQL code, running in an Oracle DB. Now, the PO wants to have SNMP monitoring, and in the last few days I looked into how can I achieve this (please note that I have little experience with Oracle, know about SNMP for like 2 days...and I am not sure even if I am posting in the right forum)...
So after searching online, for an Agent for Oracle i found this website : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/agentsoft-090381.html ..and I think this is what i need....(can anyone confirm this???)
Anyway after downloading, and reading the instructions I choose to try the so called *2. Silent installation of the agent* and below are the instructions...
For silent installation using the extracted agent download zip file, copy the <UNZIPDIR>\windows_x64\response\additional_agent.rsp file to a location on the local machine and modify the Value Unspecified entries accordingly. Invoke the setup.exe by executing:
    +<UNZIP_DIR>\windows_x64\agent\setup.exe -silent -responseFile <location>\additional_agent.rsp+
So then I started editing the file additional_agent.rsp and everything was going well until I reached the following part:
#OMS_HOST:<String> OMS host info required to connect to OMS
#OMS_PORT:<String> OMS port info required to connect to OMS

I have no idea what to put in the OMS_HOST and OMS_PORT fields...What do they refer to?
Other mentions Oracle DB is 11.2.0..OS is Windows 7
    Thanks for reading/help :)

So I talked more with the PO...and the thing is our product is just a small part of a much bigger product...he said : *"we do not need the Oracle Enterprise Manager for monitoring; we are going to use a third-party SNMP management software... The Oracle SNMP agent will report to a third-party SNMP management software (e.g. Nagios or similar). "*
    My questions are :
Can you install the Oracle Management Service without the Oracle Enterprise Manager? ...if not then :
Can you run the Oracle Enterprise Manager with Oracle Standard Edition?
I will search more on google for answers for these questions...and if I find them i'll post them here...Or maybe someone if faster and knows the answers..so he will post them :)

  • Don't setup an XServe with a DVI monitor if you intend to use a VGA monitor

    Hi Forum Folks.
A bit of a "gotcha" to warn others about, with XServes, and VGA vs DVI monitors.
We Recently re-setup (erase + install a fresh OS) on a 2008 XServe Xeon, with a DVI (Digital) monitor connected. All worked fine, and we went to move the server into the production environment.
However, when we moved + plugged the XServe into it's new home (a rack), it would not boot (flashing question mark).
Moving the Xserve out of the rack, and back to it's work-bench setup, made it work again.
We traced the problem to the monitor we used... If we hooked up a digital (DVI) monitor, the XServe worked fine (with the mini DVI to DVI connector). If we hooked up a VGA monitor (with a mini DVI to VGA connector) that's when the XServe wouldn't boot. We tried a variety of common techniques to solve the problem, including resetting various settings, re-installing Mac OS X 10.5.6 Server over the top etc.
    The solution:
(Although I'm sure there are simpler solutions):
We setup the server again (from scratch) using the VGA monitor combination from the very start of the setup, and all worked fine (on VGA or DVI monitors). The server is happily in production now, with it's VGA output.
So the lesson here: Always set up your XServe using a VGA-based monitor in the first instance.
    Hope this helps someone else.
    Cheers,
    Derek

So the lesson here: Always set up your XServe using a VGA-based monitor in the first instance.
... or don't use a monitor at all
I don't think I've ever used a monitor when setting up a server - maybe used a KVM if I've re-installed or upgraded the OS, but for the main part every install I do is run remotely.
Still it's good to know, especially since it defies logic.

  • Would like to monitor teaming with snmp

    Hello,
I would like to use snmp to monitor the state of teaming/vibe. I can't seem to find much information on the subject in general and none specifically to do with teaming/vibe. Does teaming/vibe have an OID? If not, is there some way I can give it one? It is a java process and I can monitor a process such as java with snmp but I can't differentiate between different java processes such as indexServer and icecore. Any information or links would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Toney.

  • Monitoring VLANs with SNMP

Can someone remind me how I can monitor a VLAN other than VLAN 1 with SNMP I think it's something along the lines of public@....
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jon

The @ represents community string indexing. So if you wanted to get snmp output for VLAN 200 you would do something like this:
    snmpwalk -Os -c public@200 -v 2c 10.1.1.1 dot1dTpFdbAddress
Keep in mind the flags I use above are from my specific snmpwalk utility (net-snmp) but you would add the @ to the comm string and then the value to collect the data

  • Monitoring Cpu with SNMP

    Hello,
I'am trying to monitor the CPU usage with snmp.
    I found ssCpuRawIdle.0 but each time I do :
    # snmpget -v 2c -c public localhost ssCpuRawIdle.0
    UCD-SNMP-MIB::ssCpuRawIdle.0 = Counter32: 0
    The answer is always 0.
I think is wrong, there must be value, but I cannot interdstand what.
snmpd is running and I can obtain answer with other request.
Thanks in advance fr your help.
    Jacques

I will add this to my queue of SNMP bugs.
Incorrect data like this are because OS X looks like FreeBSD to the Net-SNMP project, but OS X has some new APIs/SPIs/KPIs that deprecate or eliminate those used by FreeBSD in an attempt to be a more secure consumer-oriented OS.
Macs. Lotsa macs. All without SNMP.

  • Monitoring the Cisco ACE module with SNMP

We use 2 redundant Cisco ACE loadbalancer in our datacenter
The models are ACE20-MOD-K9 with software A2(2.0)
Does anybod know how to monitor the environment (cpu, memory) of such a module with snmp?
We were not able to find an applicable MIB for that module.
The CISCO-PROCESS-MIB.oid (ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/oid/CISCO-PROCESS-MIB.oid) seems not to reflect the correct oid's.
What are the correct oid's for cpu and memory?
Where can I find a detailed documentation for snmp-monitoring the cisco ace module?
    thanks

    Hi Patrik,
to monitor the ACE I use these two MIB's:
    ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/CISCO-SLB-MIB.my
    ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/CISCO-ENHANCED-SLB-MIB.my

  • How to monitor Oracle Glassfish with Grid Control 11g

    Hi,
Could someone tell me how can i monitor Oracle Glassfish with Grid Control 11g ?? i think i need a plug-in but i don't know where could i download it
I guess the information i can monitor depends on the plug-in :)
    Regards
    Carlos

    Hi Carlos,
We do have partners that routinely write plug-ins to extend OEM. If you take a look at the EM Extensibility Exchange below, you will find various extensions that partners such as Blue Medora have written:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=34841:1:26399399216901:::::
Please keep in mind though that between SLM and JVM diagnostics, you would have a significant amount of visibility even without the Glassfish target.
    Cheers,
    Glen

  • How to setup Oracle OCI Driver with Kerberos Authentication in Eclipse

Hello I am trying to setup a connection to Oracle Server with kerberos authentication.
I am able to connect using SQL Developer but it seems impossible to do the same through the eclipse plugin any pointers?

Currently there is no support for Kerberos authentication on OEPE DB support. I'll open an enhancement request.

  • Server Monitoring with clustered instances

Anyone using the server monitor or multiserver monitor with
clustered instances of coldfusion? In CF 8.0.1 on Solaris, enabling
monitoring produces a vast number of repeated errors of the form
included below. This occurs on the both clustered instances as the
instances are setup to replicate session data using J2EE session
variables. The monitoring appears to work but the frequency of the
errors produced in the ouput log of *BOTH* of the cluster instances
is extensive. These errors do not occur when monitoring the
"cfusion" admin instance. Is this a product issue or a
    configuration issue?
