Setup SSL using test Certificate

Hi,
All I am trying to setup SSL on my weblogic server 6.1. I have generated CSR and
received a temporary free certificate from verisign. But I am having hard time
following documentation..as wording is misleading. Can anyone tell me exactly
how would I setup/configure SSL using this test certificate. Any help ASAP will
be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jitesh

Yeshwant,
I looked at my weblogic.log file and apparently last log I see is when I actually
generated a CSR using servlet. That was last week, no updates to log after that.
I got my error on IE browser version 5.0
Also CA root file that you pointed me to will not work. I am assuming do if I
need to go buy valid certificate which comes along with CA file and CSR.
Thanks

Hi Jitesh
can you attach the weblogic.log file ?
If you look at the logs or the server startup do you see something like
<Aug 6, 2002 11:35:08 AM PDT> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <SSLListenThread
listening
on port 7002, ip address 172.17.24.85
in your log ?
I am trying to understand if the ssl listen thread comes up or not .
"There was a communicator problem"
Is this error coming in the browser? if so which browser and what version

Yeshwant,
Thanks for providing good information to my question. I tried whatyou told me,
but still I cannot get SSL to work. Any suggestions. I get Problemreport as:
"There was a communicator problem", when I use https after configuringit.
Thanks

Hi Jitesh
There are 3 things needed to get up and running with ssl
1)Server Key File Name --> This is the private key which is generated
along with the
CSR (usually by the certificate webapp if you are using it)
2)Server Certificate File Nname --->This is the certificate that verisign
sent you
3)Server Certificate Chain File Name ---> This should be either sent
by verisign or
it will be available on their site . If not try the Intermediate
CA
available at
http://www.verisign.com/support/install/index.html
On the right there is a link titled (Get Intermediate CA here )
All these 3 fields can be configured through the Console-->Server-->SSL
tab
Restart the server and it should be able to use the trial certificate
and start the
SSLListenThread

  • May I know the document name which I need to follow when I setup SSL on Por

    Hi Gurus,
We have installed 9iAS Portal 90201 and upgraded it to 9023. We are trying to setup SSL for everything in the server. We have both infrastructure and middle tier on the same server. We are not sure where to start the SSL setup. Infrastructure has a HTTP server, SSo server ..etc. and the middle tier has a HTTP and OC4j and Portal, webcache..etc. Is there a standard document or list of documents in sequence which I can follow to setup SSL on our server. I have found couple of them. But not sure which one has to go first and which one has to go next. I am planning to use the trial certificate from Verisign. Please post a reply if you have sojme info about it.
    Thanks

  • Error:iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected

    Hi,
    I am getting error com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException:
iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier
When i test for digital signing and encryption using soap receiver CC
we passed all the values for soap CC
Created key store view and in that view I have generated private certificate and generated CSR using SAP CA(test ssl for 8 weeks) for the private key and also imported public key for encryption given by reciver
When i test i get the error message
    I check certificates validity dates
I restarted java engine and ICM
I added the public key in trusted CA in NWA
I re created the view and added the certifcates
    still the same error
how and where to check to check IAIK in NWA and how to deploy it in java engine using NWA, we are using PI7.11 (no VA)
    any suggestions?

    Hi,
The main causes for this kind of problem are:
    1. The correct server certificate could not be present in the TrustedCA keystore view of NWA. Please ensure you have done all the steps described in the URL below:
    Security Configuration at Message Level
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/ea/c91141e109ef6fe1000000
    0a1550b0/frameset.htm
    2. The server certificate chain contains expired certificate. Check for it and if it's the case renew it or extend the validation.
    3. The certificate chain was not in correct order. Basically the server certificate chain should be in order
Own->Intermedite->Root. To explain in detail, if your server certificate is A which is issued by an intermediate CA B and then B's certificate is issued by the C which is the root CA (having a self signed certificate).
Then your certificate chain contains 3 elements A->B->C. So you need to have the right order of certificate in the chain. If the order is B first followed by A followed by C, then the IAIK library used by PI cannot verify the server as trusted. Generate the certificate in the right order and then import this certificate in the TrustedCA keystore view and try again.
    4. If the end point of the SOAP Call(Server) is configured to accept a client certificate(mandatory), then make sure that it is configured correctly in the SOAP channel and it is also within validity period.
(This certificate is the one which is sent to Server for Client authentication)
As a resource, you may need to create a new SSL Server key.
The requirement from SAP SSL client side is that the requested site has to have certificate with CN equal to the requested site.  I mean if I request URL X then the CN must be CN=X.
In other words, the CN of the certificate has to be equal to the URL in the ftp request. This can be the IP address or the full name of the host.
Request the url with the IP of the SSL Server and the certificate to be with CN = IP of the server.
In any other case the SSL communication will not work.
    Regards,
    Caio Cagnani

  • [SOLVED]/etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt missing from fresh install?

    Hi!
I was wondering if any of you could understand why I need to reinstall ca-certificates post-install, so as /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt gets generated back?
I'm installing from a netinstall x86_64 image with automatic AIF profile and from [testing] repo?
Since the file gets made when installing post-install, then I thought that it was rather an install issue instead of a [testing] one? I dunno...
I've just run a new install from the usb stick, and still the same, and pacman.log states that ca-certificates is installed fine, but again the file is missing and I get complaints in vt1 when browsing https sites and when using curl and such, unless I do a reinstall of ca-certificates...
    Thanks in advance!
    -- EDIT --
Problem solved by latest perl from testing repo...
Last edited by mhertz (2012-01-03 01:40:16)

.. Just wanted to add that of course I know that the ca-certificates.crt isn't in the actual package, but that it _should_ be generated by running update-ca-certificates from the packages install script, but just isn't upon install...
The package is also out of testing now and in core I see...
Anyway, to fix this, I guess I just need to add an extra chroot command in my AIF config which runs 'update-ca-certificates --fresh', since atleast that works i.e. generates ca-certificates.crt, but i've only tried it post-install, and I don't want to do another install again, as I did 2 yesterday...
Again, if anybody could help me with some kind of explanation or theory or whatever for this, then I would really appreciate it!
I _do_ think that the update-ca-certificates command is run correctly during install, as else I guess I wouldn't have all these symlinks in my /etc/ssl/certs/ folder, but then why it dosen't generate that additional ca-certificates.crt file, I really do not understand...
    Thanks in advance!
(I don't want to report an error before being absolutelly sure that it is an actual error and that I know exactly what i'm talking about in the report...)
    -- EDIT --
I just did a "normal" test-install of arch64-net in a VM, i.e. without using AIF's automatic procedure, and just selected the core repo and to install base(wget depends on ca-certificates), and in the output there where reported:
Installing ca-certificates... Error: Command failed to execute correctly.
There weren't anything more specific in /var/log/{pacman,aif}.log about this, and again there where no ca-certificates.crt generated, and it first appeared after manually running update-ca-certificates post-install...
I'm gonna make a bug-report on the bugtracker now then...

  • How to setup SSL for Business Objects

    Dear colleagues,
can you help with the following issue: we want to setup SSL for BO and have dedicted information for the implementation of certificates and know that sapcryptolib needs to be used. But there is no information provided how to inform BO about the location of the sapcryptolib. Can anybody provide a hint for this? Many thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
          Detlef Kreiss (HP Outsourcing services)

    Detlef,
The SAP Crypto library is not required if you are simply trying to secure the webserver using SSL.
Securing IIS (.NET infoview, or IIS fronting a Java application server) is pretty simple as you would follow the same steps to SSL secure it as you would any IIS server (there is an add certificate button in the properties of IIS).
If you are using a Java Application server solely and want to SSL secure that, there is an SAP note to describe the steps required to add an SSL certificate to the (Tomcat) Java keystore.
    Please see:

  • How to use one certificate for two directory servers?

    Hi,
running Sun DSEE 6.3.1 on two servers, server 1 has name ds1.example.com, server 2 has name ds2.example.com. There is a round robin DNS record ds.example.com, which alternates between:
    ds1.example.com
    ds2.example.com
    and
    ds2.example.com
    ds1.example.com
An LDAP client connects to one of the servers over SSL using the name ds.example.com. We want to generate a certificate using the name ds.example.com and use it on both directory servers.
If we generate a CSR using DSCC on server 1 and get back a signed certificate, the certificate can be installed correctly on server 1. However, if we use the same signed certificate on server 2 it fails with error:
Unable to find private key for this certificate.
    Failed to add the certificate.
Error executing the operation. The error code is 11.
What is the correct way to generate one CSR, have it signed by a CA and then implement this signed certificate on multiple servers?
    /rolf

From one Directory Server (ds1) generate CSR with the name ds.example.com in the request. Once you get the signed cert import it into the same server you generated CSR with. Then from ds1.example.com :
    scp -p <slapd install/instance path>/alias/* <account>@ds2.example.com:<slapd install/instance path>/alias/
to copy the contents of the alias path to the same location on the other Directory Server. Make sure file permissions are the same.

  • SSL/TLS security certificate data match with XML Payload in SAP PI

    Hi,
We are working on a solution where we would want to use SSL/TLS or WS Security with client server mutual authentication using client server certificates.
But, once the sender is authenticated using the certificates, can the XML payload be matched for the correctness with the certificate information? Is this available to PI integration engine at any time? Like Sender A autheticated as A using certificates, must be stopped if his XML payload is saying that he is sender B (which is most unlikely if we trust the senders but did not want to leave a loophole).
    Any ideas here?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vijay

    Hi Wolfgang,
Cross-posting is discouraged and against the forum rules, because it is misused and makes a mess of the search due to distributed discussions and answers.
I will move it to the PI forum and add a watch on it as it is security forum related.
Unfortunately, the forum software does not have the option to "mirror" threads.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Problems in using a certificate with  different versions of JVM

    Hi friends,
I am facing a typical problem:
I have to use a certificate which uses the sha1DSA signing algorithm to contact a web service(I am coding a client). I was using J2SDK_1.4.1_02 before. I added the certificate to keystore and it was working fine. But if I upgraded my JRE to 1.4.2_13 the same code doesn't work,. I got the following exception:

    Hi Michal,
Keeping in mind the recommendations of the Production Checklist...
All other things being equal, homogenous deployments are usually less prone to surprises.
But JDK 1.6 is noticeably faster than JDK 1.4, and features much better JMX support as well, so it's a probably the better option.

  • Quality Test Certificate Outgoing (Delivery)

    Dear QM Gurus,
Here I am having one scenario where I need to print test certificate for delivery considering inspection characteristics of a finished material and semi finished material at different BOM levels.
    Ex:
    Finished Material : FERT001
    SemiFinished Materials : HALB001, HALB002 & HALB003.
    Raw Materials: ROH001 and ROH002
Process: FERT001 produced using HALB003 Produced using HALB002 produced using HALB003 Produced using ROH001 and ROH002
At HALB003 we are going to capture some characteristics and FERT001 I will capture some other characteristics, Now at the time of delivery I want to print both(FERT001 and HALB003) inspection characteristics results in Certificate.
Except FERT001 for all other materials batch is maintaining(No batch Characteristics) for tracking purpose.
I tried some standard procedure like assigning both material in quality certificate and all MICs relevant for both materials. Result origin and inspection spec origin as 03 and Material sort no as 2 where i maintained this material in Materials sequence.
With all the above mentioned settings I tried but I con't able to print the characteristic results of HALB003 in test certificate I can able to get only FERT001 Insp Characteristics only.
Please help me in getting it done, it is critical requirement for our client.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Krishna Mohan.NSL

As Vishal saying in standard fert material must have batch.
Normaly if u want to fetch the characteristics value on certificate then
    1. you need to define certificate profile with relevent characteristcis.
    2. for Halb and ROH material characterictics relsult and inspection spec origin should be 3
    3. related to Halb material and ROH material has to assign in material tab in class characteristics or MIC.
if you done the above setting in your profile correctly you must have to get the details of RR on your certificate.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nilesh

  • JDBC Thin Connections with SSL and client certificates

    Hi ,
we are going have a look at JDBC Thin Connections with SSL and client certificates.
    I have two questions:
    1. Is it possible to use SSL connections from JDBC Thin Driver and which release of the driver introduced it
    2. Is it possible to use client certificates with JDBC Thin Driver and which release of the driver introduced it
    Thanks for your help
    regards
    Markus Reichert

I could not reproduce the error after appending the SSL certificate to the certdb.txt file available under $Jinitiator_Home/lib/security folder.
Steps to add the SSL Certificate:
    1. Run the form with the https mode in the IE Browser.
    2. Security Alert is raised.
    3. Click on the View Certificate button.
    4. In the Certificate Window, click on the Details tab.
    5. Click on the Copy to File button to copy the certificate.
    6. Copy the certificate and append to the certdb.txt file.

Please provide a new test certificate.

    Hi Pradeep,
I think that you may not get the performance running adobe forms while using citrix. For using portal applications you need to open the port to access the client portal through VPN.

  • Logon to BI using client certificate (SmartCard)

It is possible to configure BI for logon using client certificate (for example stored on chip card). Can somebody tell me how? Thank you very much...

It is certainly possible to have an external authentication method plug-in into your BI Installation. Therefore I would assume that could also include something you can integrate with your smart card. You will have to use and setup SSO though. We use SSO with a fully external user database. We use a custom Java authenticator module that uses JCIFs libraries to authenticate users over NTLM against a Windows Domain Controller (http://jcifs.samba.org/src/docs/ntlmhttpauth.html). It's a very neat solution that I think Oracle should incorporate in OBIEE since it means there is no need to setup LDAP or maintain group membership in your Active Directory. This basically does the "authentication" bit. For authorisation we use Init Blocks. The user is validated against a database which confirms it's "authorised" to login to OBIEE and gets all the user groups that it should get from our DB.

  • Cannot log into site using digital certificate

On a Windows XP machine digital certificates have been imported into the certificate store using the Certificate Import Wizard. And verified using IE7 to login into an internal site.
In FireFox, when I choose "Digital Certificate" as a login option I get the following message:
The page requires a client certificate
The page you are attempting to access requires your browser to have a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) client certificate that the Web server will recognize. The client certificate is used for identifying you as a valid user of the resource.

You can try to export the certificate in IE and import the certificate in Firefox.
