Several installation errors/problems with XFILES.5 XML DB sample

I attempted to install the XFILES.5 XML DB sample application on our 11.2.0.2 database and encountered several errors. I ran the installation from Windows 7. A number of the errors were caused by not having XDMP and XDP_UTIL utility packages installed prior to installing XFILES. The installation instructions do not mention this.
Once I had these packages installed, I reran the XFILES installation. The installation claimed to succeed, but when I tried to go to the URL I got a 404 error. I looked in the repository and there were a number of empty folders and there was no XFILES folder. The installation clearly had not completed successfully. I then tried to uninstall XFILES. The documentation gives no indication of how to do this so I dropped the XFILES schema and used parts of the XFILES_DBA_TASKS.sql script to clear out the XML DB repository. I reran the XFILES installation and it failed again. This time there was an "Invalid listener" error when XDB_UTILITIES.createHomeFolder() was called. This was due to the XDBPM packages being replaced previously with the XFILES versions, meaning they now had dependencies on XFILES. After some investigation, it seemed that I could just run the XFILES install again since the dependencies were installed after the failure. I did, and the installation again claimed it succeeded. It did not. When I navigated to the XFILES URL, I got a few errors that indicated that the user need to be granted the XFILES_USER or XFILES_ADMINISTRATOR role first. There were no such roles created. I found they were created in the XFILES_DBA_TASKS.sql script, but this script was never executed by the installation. I tried creating them manually and granting them to my test user. Now I get a new batch of errors:
Module:xmlDocumentObject.xmlDocument.checkParsing
Error Type: 4 [NOT-FOUND]
Description: Unable to load Document
Target URL: undefined
Module: common.handleException
Error Type: 3 [AJAX]
Description: Not found
Target URL: /sys/servlets/XFILES/RestService/XFILES.XFILES_REST_SERVICES.WRITELOGRECORD...
Number: 404
I am stuck and a little tired of troubleshooting Oracle's code for them. How do I fix this? Clearly the scripts and docs need vast improvements.
Also, there appears to be an APEX version of the application included, but it never gets installed. Are there separate instructions for this?

Looking at the XFILES.5.xml file and Install.vbs files of the XFILES installer, it appears that the XDBPM_SUPPORT and XFILES_DBA_TASKS actions will only be run if you enter a SYSDBA user in the "DBA User" field of the installer. However, for some reason, Oracle seems to have commented out the command that checks to ensure that the DBA user you entered is a SYSDBA user, and the "DBA User" field defaults to SYSTEM, which is not a SYSDBA user. Since I got things working I haven't tried rerunning the installer with a SYSDBA user, but maybe it will work better. The installation documentation and/or the installation scripts need to be updated to reflect the need for a SYSDBA user.
Regarding the APEX version of XFILES, this has not installation instructions whatsoever, and there are prerequisite steps to get this to install correctly as well. I tried importing the f102.sql file into APEX and it failed on the prereq validation because an "XFILES/Apex" folder wasn't found in XML DB. I went looking for anything that creates this directory and I found that there is another XFILES_DBA_TASKS.sql script specifically for the APEX version. It is included in the f102.sql file. So I cut and paste the contents into SQL*Plus and ran it as SYS. I was then able to install the f102 application.

  • Problems with reports and XML-publisher - No XML

    Hi!
    I'm having a problem with Apps and XML-publisher. I made a report file, which queries some views. When executing in reports, I get all the data I expect.
    Now, when I upload the reportfile to Apps and let it generate XML, my xml-file is empty (well, almost empty)

    Anyone who can shed any light upon this problem?

    OK, finally solved the problem... A good night's sleep always helps ;).
    After just trying each queried table one after an other, I found the problem:
    The difference between Oracle Apps (Dutch locale) and the reports builder (English) is the language... And our functional people have changed some names, but the Dutch ones, leaving the english names in place and one of the tables I query has language specific data, which is also appears in a where clause.

    Hi Aparna,
    try to open the query in RSRT and debug the query.the error is due to some  customer exit variable so try to debug the code for the variable and rectify it.
    Thanks,

  • FMLE encoding stopped: Problem with capture device. Incorrect samples given by the device.

    Hi Support,
    I am trying to use FMLE to encode and stream video from an Axis P1346 IP camera, via Axis' Streaming Assistant software, to a Wowza server.
    Everyting appears to be working perfectly and the encoding and resultant stream quality is excellent. Sometimes after a few hours and sometimes after just a few minutes, the encoding will stop with the following error:
    Tue Mar 26 2013 11:47:18 : Session Stopped
    Tue Mar 26 2013 11:47:18 : Problem with capture device. Incorrect samples given by the device. Stopping encoding session.
    I have attached a recent log of a session that only lasted a few minutes - do you have any ideas on how to resolve this instability?

  • Problem with the config.xml

    Dear all,
    After doing a wscompile on the config.xml file (JWSDP1.6), I am able to generate the wsdl for the interface defined.
    But now the config.xml shows an error
    "Cannot find the declaration of element 'configuration' "
    for the attribute xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jax-rpc/ri/config"
    Any idea what is the problem as "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jax-rpc/ri/config" is no longer available on the sun site.
    Any alternate references to be made to this xml namespace declaration.
    Rgds,
    Seetesh

    My point above is that Project 2007 was extremely buggy and unless files are saved using Project 2007 SP3 first you are likely to experience problems with the files when opening in project 2010. Project 2007 to 2010 with no service packs is problematic.
    With SPs applied you should have far fewer problems.
    Doesn't look like a exe with SP2 is available yet so you need to add the service pack separately, probably in the updates folder.
    If all Project 2007 installs are already at SP3 then no need for this.

    alrighty then try this xml structure.
    Note: formatting information like b, or linkage tags should
    not be part of the xml.
    The XML format is a universal format for data, if you fill it
    with style information this is not good practive (in general, there
    are of course scenarios where it makes sense, also since (x)html IS
    also XML).
    In your case you want to put the information about multiple
    companies in a xml file, but you let the flash decide how to
    display format this information.
    so if you use the sugested XMl structure you will have full
    control of the layout within flash, because you can grab every
    piece of information from the xml and place it jsut where you want
    in flash and format it within flash.
    Of course this process is more coding work than your previous
    attempt, but it pays of when you have a lot of data to process and
    when you want to have full control of the final layout.
    But maybe its overkill for your application (I don't know how
    many companies will be stored in your xml and how complex the rest
    of the app is).

  • Problem with '&' character in xml

    Hello!

    i have a interface ftp ->XI-> idoc.

  • Problem with parsing large xml files

    Hello All,
    I am parsing a large xml file of 20MB and I use DocumentBuilder.parse(File). This method works for small xml files with size less than 20MB but the application hangs and doesn't through any error message when parsing 20MB xml files. Please let me know what I have to do at this point ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kumar.

    Well... i can't agree.
    If you have such structure:
    <task>
      <task/>
      <task>
         <task>
            <task/>
         </task>
         <task/>
      </task>
    </task>
    ...you may always keep stack of tasks (at startElement push to top, and at endElement pop), so at every leaf of tree you will have all parents of that leaf.
    for such structure:
    <task id="1" parent="0"/>
    <task id="2" parent="1"/>
    <task id="3" parent="1"/>
    <task id="4" parent="2"/>
    <task id="5" parent="3"/>
    ...it will be much faster to go thro document by sax several times to build tree of tasks, than to load all document into memory...

  • Problem with parsing large XML files chunked over HTTP

    I'm trying to isolate a bug that was introduced when upgrading the JRE in use from Java 7u51 to 7u71 without changing any code. The problem appears to be very similar to: Bug ID: JDK-8027359 XML parser returns incorrect parsing results.
    Further investigation showed that it was also introduced in the same versions (7u71) where that fix was applied. Unlike that bug though, my XML is marked as version 1.0. It also appears to be with only large XML files, on the order of 10MB or so.
    The closest I've been able to narrow it down to is the code is using JAXB to unmarshall a stream that the debugger tells me is a org.apache.http.com.EofSensorInputStream / org.apache.http.impl.io.ChunkedInputStream. The exception I get is not consistent, but typically appears to be from chunks being overwritten or shuffled, resulting in letters appearing in attributes that are actually numbers, or like the following where an attribute "testAttribute" gets partially overwritten by the end of a timestamp that was in a different section of the XML.
    javax.xml.bind.UnmarshalException
    - with linked exception:
    [javax.xml.stream.XMLStreamException: ParseError at [row,col]:[1,98748]
    Message: Attribute name "testAttribu00Z" associated with an element type "testElement" must be followed by the ' = ' character.]

      at com.sun.xml.internal.bind.v2.runtime.unmarshaller.UnmarshallerImpl.unmarshal(UnmarshallerImpl.java:334)
    Caused by: javax.xml.stream.XMLStreamException: ParseError at [row,col]:[1,98748]

      at com.sun.xml.internal.bind.v2.runtime.unmarshaller.UnmarshallerImpl.unmarshal0(UnmarshallerImpl.java:355)
      ... 6 more
    Here's some code that seems to reproduce it if you can connect to an XML server that returns a large chunked XML file:
      SchemeRegistry registry = new SchemeRegistry();
      registry.register(
                    new Scheme("http", 80, PlainSocketFactory.getSocketFactory()));
      HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(new BasicClientConnectionManager(registry));
      String url = "http://someUrlReturningAlargeChunkedXML";
      HttpGet method = new HttpGet(url);
      HttpResponse response = client.execute(method);
      InputStream inputStream = response.getEntity().getContent();
      XMLStreamReader responseReader = factory.createXMLStreamReader(inputStream);
      JAXBElement<JaxBObjectOfResponse> wot = unmarshaller.unmarshal(responseReader, JaxBObjectOfResponse.class);
    If you connect using URL.openStream() to the same service there is no error. If I read bytes directly and write to a file, there is no error. The error only happens when I try to unmarshal it, and it's large, and I'm using Java 7u71 (or later). It can be consistently repeated with the jsp webapp that I'm using, but didn't show the error when I used the same code with a Wikipedia dump XML file.
    How can I unmarshal in a different way to avoid this problem? Or, how can I better isolate the bug so it can be posted to the appropriate bug system?

    Apparently, adding the Woodstox XML libraries avoids the bug. Is there anyone who can reproduce this on another system? Was there any changes to the Stax implementation between u67 and u71 that may have introduced a bug like this?
    Edit: When setting the logging level to DEBUG, I once saw the overwritten buffer being logged as if that was what was received (as in the testAttribu00Z example above). I can't repeat that anymore though, and very rarely it does parses with no exception (though it may have still been corrupted). Now the error seems to be consistently on one of the buffer boundaries, as in:

  • Problem with images in XML with excel output

    Hello:
    I made an XML concurrent program, with excel output, but i am having a problem:
    The rtf template has a logo (bmp image), but it is not showing in the excel (if i execute the concurrent in the oracle applications). However, if i create the xml in Oracle Reports in my computer, and then load that xml in the rdf template in word, i can see the logo in the excel preview. I don't know why is it not showing when i execute the program in applications.
    If someone can help me with this, i will be very grateful.
    Greetings

    xml cP, will not give you a image in excel output,..
    In RDF there is a placeholder for image, and the image is located in certain location, at runtime it picks and render the output with logo.
    but xml CP, will get the data in xml type and merge with rtf to get the output you wanted..
    if you have the rtf with logo embedded in it, if output is of pdf or rtf output , then it will display the logo ,.
    in excel currently it is not possible to show the logo,..
    excel you see could be xml-excel or csv-excel not the true binary excel.
    to get the logo embedded ,for that you have to wait on tim for the excel template, which will be release in near future i guess..

  • [Solved] Several installs and issues with DHCP issue every time.

    Edited: more concise information!
    Hi folks,
    I was using Arch fine for months but decided to reinstall it fresh at the new year, but since then I have been plagued by connection issues. I install Arch and follow many of the tips found in these Wikis to set it up how I like then install preload and readahead.
    Post-Installation Tips
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pos … ation_Tips
    - LCD filtered fonts
    - Disable IPv6 (I use Chorus/NTL and they have a tip for improving Firefox that disables IPv6, so I think that this is not to blame)
    Laptop
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Laptop
    - Battery state monitoring utilities (acpi)
    - Laptop-mode-toold
    - Powernowd
    Maximising Performance
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Max … erformance
    - Swapiness
    - Mount /tmp to RAM
    My internet connection works fine, even when rebooting, but later I turn on my computer and WICD or networkmanager fails on "obtaining IP address. I really think that there is something in one of these tips that is causing this problem, but I am at a loss as to what. Like I say, I was using it happily for many months before these current issues. The only thing I did differently was systematically set up my computer with all the tips detailed above, where as before, I collected these tips over a period of time and did not do them all straight after installation. I have tried rolling back the changes and this has not fixed the issue.
    I have had this issue over many reinstalls, using networkmanager or WICD and each time I was hoping that I was doing something wrong.  I have an Ubuntu and work Windows laptop that both work fine, so I don.t think it is anything to do with the connection itself.
    I am not sure what information you would need so I thought I would post both of these files. If you would like anything else, give me a shout and i can post it.

    Hey Scott!
    I don't know if it is helpful in any way but I have a similar problem with my desktop PC.
    I have two ethernet controllers installed and somtimes I had a Ip address assigned and sometimes I didn't.
    One which is connected to the router and a 2nd one I use sporadically to connect additional computers.
    The dhcpcd would fail to load even if I followed steps suggested from other forum members.
    My temporary fix was to run:
    # dhcpcd
    manually.
    If this helps you might consider adding "dhcpcd" at the end of
    /etc/rc.d/network
    I know it's not really a fix but it helps me to get a working connection whoch otherwise would fail - or work if lucky but i don't like lucky with network/internet ^^
