Sh runinstaller problem

when I was doing sh runinstaller the following problem is occurring.
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2006-01-31_04-25-59PM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...
/tmp/OraInstall2006-01-31_04-25-59PM/jre/bin/i386/native_threads/java: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
please help me.

Google gave me :
Question
Error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2
Answer
If you get the following message when starting IBM HTTP Server on RedHat 7.2, you need to install compat-libstdc++:
"/opt/IBMHttpServer/bin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory /apachectl start: httpd could not be started"
To check if compat-libstdc++ is installed, run the command rpm -qa | grep compat-libstdc+. If it is not installed, install this rpm from the RedHat 7.2 CD-ROMs. If it is installed and the problem still exists, start the IBM HTTP Server, run the ldconfig system command. This allows the IBM HTTP Server to start successfully.

I am trying to install 11.2.0.2 on a Red Hat Linux Enterprise 6 box. When I run the runInstaller, the checks are passed but I don't get the GUI Installer interface. There are no errors in the installation log either. I can see that Red Hat Enterprise 6 is not yet certified with 11gR2. Is that the problem? My Linux SA says, Red Hat is backward compatible and version 6 shouldn't be the problem.

    Well, thoes are the problems.
"Universal Installer" sounds very good but..
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

I've had the same problem. I bet you created a cd from the zip files that you downloaded and the files are all in msdos format, ie: all the text files end in CR/LF.
To check it edit the runInstaller.sh script with vi and see if it says [dos mode] down at the bottom of the screen. If so you are hosed.
    2 options:
1 - Copy cd contents to disk and edit all text files and save in unix format.
2 - Remake the cd with the files in unix mode.

  • 8.1.7 & SuSE 7.1 ./runInstaller problems

    I recently installed SuSE 7.1 (2.4 kernel).
    Two problems:
    1. When I execute "./runInstaller" I get a message telling me it's can't find ./runInstaller. When I execute
"sh ./runInstaller" each blank line results in a ": command not found" error message. I can get around this executing the statements myself.
    2. I cd into install/linux and
run ./runInstaller. I get a message indicating that <random>/bin/jre cannot be found. I tried "unset LANG" and it still didn't work. <random> is just that, random. Sometimes it appears to be just "/bin/jre"; sometimes it's "bin/jre" other times a single character will appear before it (e.g. i/bin/jre).
If it's of any importance, I'm running bash as my shell. I'm just about at the end of my rope.

    Oracle 8.1.7 on SuSE 7.1 (2.4 kernel)
Had exactly the same problem until I cd'd into the /cdrom/install/linux directory, ran the `unset LANG` and the installation proceeded normally. Did not work the first time ?
Selected the CUSTOM install and did not select create database.
Downloaded the glibc 2.1 file from the SuSE ftp site, copied the tarred file to $ORACLE_HOME directory, untarred the file and ran the setup_stubs.sh file.
    Relinks various Oracle files.
Tried to run netasst but had some CLASSPATH errors, eventually it worked.
Ran the dbassist file in $ORACLE_HOME/bin to create the Database. Up and running

  • Facing problems while running runInstaller while installation of Solman7.0

    Hi,
We are installing SAP Solman7.0 with Solaris+Oracle(10g 2.0).
we have already run sapinst. Now during database installation(Oracle)
we run runinstaller, we are facing following problems :
    Checking installer requirements.........
    Checking OS version........must be 5.10
    Checking temp space....
checking monitor ..must be configured to display at least 256 colours
Please have a lok at it.
    Suggest some solution..
    Regards
    Anju

First - do not execute runInstaller but RUNINSTALLER (in CAPITALS) from the SAP subdirectory of the database DVD.
Second: don´t install the database prior to start sapinst. Execute sapinst and it will prompt you to install the database.
Third: Make sure you set up a project file and edited /etc/user_attr
Fourth: read the installation guide mentioned - all necessary steps are in there in the correct sequence.

  • Oracle 8.1.7: Problems of runInstaller

It is my first time to install Oracle8i (8.1.7) on LINUX. I could not run the runInstaller file.
    When I typed:
    $ . runInstaller
I got a error message: cant run a binary file .
Can someone tell me how to run this file?
PS. I downloaded the linux81701.tar to my PC Windows2000 and burned the file to a CD. Then I extracted the file at Linux using
    $ tar xf C <mydirectory>.
Then I tried to run the runInstaller in that directory. Is it the right way to do so?
    thanks

    Thanks Benjamin,
    I tried
    $ ./runInstaller
    and it works.
but I got new problem, as soon as the runInstaller started, I got a message like "the client was refused by the sever", "can't connect by localhost:0.0"
something like that. I set the display according to the menu:
    $DISPLAY=localhost:0.0
    $export DISPLAY
but when I tried to do the following:
    $xhost +localdomain
    it returns some errors:
$ xhost can't connect to localhost:0.0 (something like this)
    I. did I set up my DISPLAY currect? since i didn't define my workstation name during RH7.0 installation, I assum my workstation name is "localhost" which allways shown up on top of the penal "[email protected]" or "[email protected]"
II. is there any way to get this set up right?
    thanks!

  • Re:Oracle 9i runInstaller SIGSEGV's - (Similar problem)

I am running Redhat 6.2 with upgraded kernel 2.2.19 and upgraded
    GLibc 2.1.3-22 libraries.
    Using JDK 1.3.
runInstaller always seg faults with SIGSEGV 11 after answering
    questions for DAD port.
The above solution did not work nor was it an option. However,
it was tried and javakey never seg faulted. The install
    continues to fail.
Help with this matter would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Update on runInstaller segfaulting.
    Problem
    jre version 1.1.8v3 seg faults.
    I will assume that:
    A. You've downloaded jre-1.1.8 from blackdown (or mirror)
    B. Unpacked it under /usr/local and linked /usr/local/java to
    the jre118 directory under /usr/local
    C. Added /usr/local/java/bin to your PATH
    Problem verification
To verify that we are talking about the same problem run
the '/usr/local/java/bin/javakey' tool (bundled with jre)
without any params. It should dump the registers and segfault.
If it does, we are talking about the same problem.
runInstaller should be segfaulting with pretty much identical
    jvm dump.
    Solution
The problem of runInstaller segfaulting on systems with newer
libc versions is that jre 1.1.8 v3 expects locale data files to
be present in /usr/share/locale (or /usr/local/share/locale).
    ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions
    /slackware-8.0/d1/glocale.tgz
may be used to grab a tar-ball that contains the appropriate
locale information. The tar ball can be unzipped with the
    following shell command:
    # gunzip -c glocale.tgz | (cd /; tar -xvf - )
    Verify solution
run '/usr/local/java/bin/javakey' ... It should no longer
segfault (you should get the command-line help for javakey)
Try running runInstaller from your favourite Oracle media
    location

  • X-windows problem to "runInstaller" (soa_linux_x86_101310_disk1.cpio)

I opened a session to server by ssh.
I'm able to run 'xclock' and 'xterm'.
When I run '> ./runInstaller'. got a window then got shrunk. then when I clicked got shrunk more.
I experienced this one when I installed a 10g database.
Solution was to run " /install/.oui" instead of "./runInstaller"
When I run 'runInstaller' at server(by console), behaves well.
this case, it doesn't have .oui file in install directory.
    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Hi!
Try installing the vncserver package on the server, and running, as the "oracle" or the user you are using as the software owner, the "vncserver" command.
At the end of the run, it must give to you some output telling the display it is using (:1, :2, etc.).
Then, download on your workstation (Windows?) the vnc client (by example, from www.realvnc.com), and execute it.
When it tries to connect to your machine, you must supply the password you supplied on the Linux machine installation.
The, the XTerminal you can see on the screen is OK to run the runInstaller command, as the "oracle" user, allowing you to see it perfectly.
Tell me if this worked for you.
    Greetings!
    HeCSa.

    Hello!
I also tried to install Oracle 8.1.6.1 (after giving up the 8.0.5 installation due to segmentation faults all over..), it also failed.
After trying to install Oracle 8.1.6.1 on RedHat 7.0 and it still crashed, i sent a mail to some guru that wrote the oracle-how-to document for redhat, here is what he replied.
    My guess is that this also applies to the newest slackware version, because i presume that slackware 7.0 also use the newest glibc libraries;
    Thanks for the feedback.

What else could be wrong here??? I will appreciate any help!
    Thanks
    Ameen

    Ameeni,
Do I take it you are trying to install Oracle???
If not - I know this is obvious - check the name of the file doesn't include an extension, i.e. runInstaller.sh.
I had similar problems, but different errors and found it best to copy all of the CDs onto the disk under a single directory as Disk1, Disk2, and Disk3, su to the Oracle account, and then do Disk1/runInstaller from the high level directory.
Check you have enough swap space and and a tmp directory with LOTS of space, and then set the environment variables. Also the kernel parameters are important. I think the tmp directory gave me an error message similar to yours, in that the installer code is copied into it.
Finally, you need to get the magic cookie for the connection set up for X using "xauth". This was a real pain. I did write up the install problems for our own DBAs for this, so if you still have a problem put a message here and I will add it.

  • Installation problem with Oracle 8.1.7 on Mandrake 8.1

    Hi all,
I am trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 (Rel 3) on Mandrake Linux 8.1. I changed all the parameters, tested everything, created the users (oracle & apache) and groups (oinstall & dba) as per the documentation. I downloaded the Oracle's "tar" file from the Oracle's web site. I unzipped that in "/shared" directory on my PC. I changed to "/shared/Disk1" directory and gave "./runInstaller". A window is opening with the following buttons.
    About
    Deinstall products
    Exit
    Help
    Installed products
    Previous (disabled)
    Next
Only "About" and "Deinstall products" buttons are working. None of the other buttons are working. When I press "Next" nothing is happening.
Could anybody help with this problem. I really appreciate it.
Thank you very much in advance,

    Hi all,
This problem got solved. Its very silly thing. Number lock should be off, when you are running Oracle Installer. It worked for me. (This is for Mandrake Linux 8.1)
