Share only specific groups with users over cardDAV?

OS X Server 3.2.2
I've successfully set up the Contacts server, but it appears that cardDAV syncing is an all-or-nothing prospect.  There appears to be no way to sync only select groups of contacts with select users or groups.  Instead, it appears you must sync every contact, and group of contacts, with any user who has access.
Is this really the case, or have I missed something obvious?

Hi,
I have the same issue on OSX Maverikcs (10.9.5) using the Contacts App Version 8.0 (1371.2).
All contact groups are shown as one single group and I do not see a possibility to select one single or a selection of groups to synchronize.
On the other hand, both my Smartphone and the web-interface of my ISP allow a seamless synchronization and visualization of the different groups in CardDav.
So I'd assume that this is an issue of the OSX Contats App.
Is this a known issue?
Are there any fixes for this?
Thanks,
Fab

  • How can you share only specific folders with windows

    I took the following steps to share my macbookpro files with my desktop windows XP sp3. I am using a router to connect these two computers.
    1)system preferences > sharing > file sharing > options > CHECK BOX "share files and folders using SMB (Windows)" >check box 'on' my one of the 2 accounts on macbookpro> hit ''Done'' > GREEN red dot next to "Windows Sharing: on"
    2) I then added 3 FOLDERS to the "shared folders:" list on 'system preferences > sharing > file sharing'
    3) system preferences > network > Location >"automatic" in the drop down menu > hit edit location and create a new location with the default name "Automatic Copy" Go to Advanced> WINS > change work group to "MSHOME" (this is the name of work group on my desktop windows pc)
    4) system preferences > accounts > other accounts> guest accounts: check the blue box " Allow guests to connect to shared folders"
    5) go to my network places on xp. > click add a network place>Next>choose another network location>Next>Browse>entire network>Microsoft windows nework>Mshome>Macbookpro>clicked on the folder ”my account from my step #1 "
    Now ALL files on this account on my macbook are shared with my desktop.
    THIS IS INTERESTING AS IN STEP 1, I Had given permission to share ONLY 3 FOLDERS and I do not want to share every single macbook folder from my account with this desktop.
    Please help. I have been unable to fix it. I am very new to mac world.

    You'll have to open another iCloud account - you can't share access to just part of the email account.
    Go to http://appleid.apple.com and create a new ID - you will need a different non-Apple email address to do this.
    Sign in with it in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts and Calendars and enable 'Mail' in the checklist there. You should be asked to create a new @icloud.com address.
    This account will then appear alongside your present one in Mail. Your lawyer can access it in the usual way - if he doesn't have a Mac he can set the account up manually using the server settings here:

  • Message to logon to a specific group of users

    Good morning, I wanted to know how to make a message appear shortly after logon to windows .
    The message should occur only to a specific group of users. The server that manages access (active directory) is windows server 2008 r2 .
    I've ' road tested the group policies (whether creating a new one by editing the default domain ) but I do not see the message even after the update is forced on the client and the server.
    If you succeed through the last method specified well, if you know another better still ; whatever if it works please show me . We talk about 1300 users with about 500 machines . Sorry for my bad english, but I had to use Google Translate.Thank you in advance. Alessandro

    Ciao Alessandro,

    Can I share a specific event with friends on iCloud via Photostream?

    No, not until iOS 6 comes out.

  • Restricting end user to one specific group with anyconnect

    Hello all
    I just started configuring AnyConnect with ASA 5520 that uses Cisco SecureACS to pass radius authentication.  I configured two profiles with different split tunnel restrictions and what I discovered is that when the client connects to the ASA, they are provided a choice of these two groups (I guess there is no way to restrict this) and I can log into either one with any user account.  How do I restrict this so that the user can only use one profile?  Currently users capable of VPN would be placed in one specifc AD group so that is what SecureACS checks.  Is there a sample configuration guide to handle multiple profiles with different levels of access?

    Alternatively, you can use Radius authorization to place user into a specific group-policy:
    - Configure the Group-Policy attribute under Radius to be OU=
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa91/configuration/vpn/vpn_extserver.html#wp1605475
    On  the ASA, just configure 1 tunnel-group, and depending on the  authentication, the user will be placed into the correct group-policy  specified under the ACS server.

  • Sync only specific groups for contacts mobileme on iphone

    How do I only sync specific contact groups via mobileme on my iphone 3G?

    With over 4000 contacts in my Address Book this is an important issue for me.
    I am currently syncing my all my contacts via MobieMe having set up 20 or so Groups in address book. I have split my contacts amongst the Groups which makes it easier to sort/search on my iphone. It is also a **** of a lot quicker to search for a name in a group than looking for it amongst 4000 entries in 'All Contacts'
    Some of my Groups change on a daily or weekly basis. For instance if I have a list of people that I know I want to call during the day, one group is called simply 'Calls', other groups my relate to Key Contacts and Key Projects, people that I am currently working with. When I job is done , I remove them from that Group but they remain in their Sector Group.
    I found a App called ABContacts which displays the Groups, but also adds either the contact name or Organisation name beneath the key data. Handy
    The only way to actually select specific groups is to sync your contacts with iTunes and select the groups that appear in the Sync Window. To do this you must first switch off Contact syncing with MobileMe on the iPhone. Make sure you are uptodate on MobileMe before you do this and back up your iPhone prior to doing this as you will lose all your Contact info of your phone prior to syncing Contacts with iTunes/AB
    Hope that helps
    Regards
    Dewi

    Hi,
    The OOTB feature “Audience Targeting” on list item will be capable of your requirement.
    “List or library items can be targeted to appear only to people who are members of a particular group or audience”.

  • How do I sync only specific playlists with iCloud?

    When I used to sync my iPhone & iPods to my iMac, I could easily select specific playlists to sync. However, since I "upgraded" to the iCloud music service, I don't see any way to exclude playlists from the sync. Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Ken

    Thanks Michael.  I switched from manual sync, and selected sync only checked songs, while at the same time unchecking certain playlists in iTunes.  I don't know if that's the best way or not, but it worked for me.
    Your tip on how to check and uncheck songs in large groups was really helpful, because I have multiple ipods to sync, and I want these playlists on some of them, so that makes it pretty easy to update checked and unchecked songs as needed.  Thanks.

  • Granting item permissions to specific group or users via workflow- sharepoint online

    I want to create a Document Set and upon doing that i want to grants users/ groups item level permissions to the document set.
    Can this be done via workflow?
    What are my options?

    If workflow starts on document set, you will change permission on the document set: if the files inherit permission from document set, all children files will have the same document set permission.
    the document set is nothing more than a souped-up folder

  • Can I share my PSE8 catalog with a user on another computer using PSE6?

    I want to share my PSE8 catalog with user on another computer using PSE6, so that we both organize and edit the same photos.

    Thanks for the fast response.
    I am planning on locating both the catalog and photos in the same shared folder, accessible on a home network with two computers.  Only one person at a time will be using it, so we should both see the same catalog structure.  I've already given general tags to the photos, but my wife wants to add more detailed sub groups and tags.  After reading the license agreement with Adobe, it looks like I can put the same PSE8 on both home computers, so I think the catalog sharing should work.  I'll give it a try to see.

  • How can I share contacts in a specific group

    I want to share a specific group of contacts without having to share each of the contacts individually.

    iPad
    Yes, her contacts show up on her iPad, but only on her iPad
    iCloud
    She has her own iCloud ID but none of the contacts show up on it because they are in a group called 'Hotmail' and it is impossible on her iPad to change their group to 'iCloud'
    Mac
    I had already set up an account for her on my Mac, so her iPad is backed up.  But when she syncs her contacts to Mail on my Mac, none of the contacts come across, because they are not iCloud contacts.
    My question is still how do I get these contacts off the iPad and onto either the cloud or the mac so I can change their group so they sync in future and so that we can send a group email advising her friends and relatives of her change of email address.  If this is not possible it means emailing a hundred or so people individually.
    How sad that it is not possible on the ipad to select all contacts and assign them to a different group.

  • Can you share specific apps with other devices under same Apple ID?  ...or do you need to enable he sharing of all apps that have been downloaded under that ID?

    My family has multiple devices under one apple ID.  I want to share only certain apps with certain family members.  Is it possible to limit what apps are shared with which devices or do I need to share all of the apps that I download for personal use?

    Thanks.  I turned off the automatic downloads on the new devices (minis), but when I go into the app store I don't see any of the apps I have bought (for my original iPad) under "purchased".  I was thinking that this was the logical place to find those apps that I want to download to the new devices.  What am aI missing?

  • Nested groups with Active Directory AWS

    Hi... am trying to target only specific groups from our AD, but I'd rather not have to use the partial users & groups sync as this would mean re-configuring the auth source for any new group that we want to bring in to the portal (v.5.0.2).
    I am able to target a specific part of AD in the following way:
    User Query Base : OU=Portal Users,DC=Domain1, DC=DOmain2
    User Query Filter: (&(objectclass=user)(memberOf=*))
    Group Query Base : OU=Portal Users,DC=Domain1, DC=DOmain2
    Group Query Filter: (objectclass=Group)
    This works fine, it brings in the groups in the "Portal Users" OU and any users in the OU who have group memberships. However, not all groups and users will exist in a single OU, so we decided to create a global group called "Portal Groups" and tried a similar query as above but with the query base replaced as follows:
    VN=Portal Groups,OU=Applications,DC=Domain1, DC=DOmain2
    This time... the group is brought in but no nested groups and no users! Has anyone else managed to accomplish an AWS setup of this sort or similar? I'm told that it is possible to sync in nested groups but being unfamiliar with AD I'm not sure if I've gone about it the right way.
    thanks in advance
    Simon Dragicevich

    Hi Simon,
    So let me make sure I've got your usecase.  You want to only create particular groups in the portal - you don't want all your AD groups in the portal.  You DO want all your users imported and to have them in the appropriate groups?
    If that's correct - you either want to play with your query bases, or you want to switch to a partial GROUP sync.  The former will allow you to automatically bring in new groups as they are added to AD, the later will not.
    One thing I was confused about in your original post - did you change both the user query base and the group query base to:
    VN=Portal Groups,OU=Applications,DC=Domain1, DC=DOmain2
    or just the group query base?  Assuming you did the former, that would explain why your users weren't imported.  If you did the later - that seems odd.  Regardless you don't want to create a global group, you want to create a new OU:
    OU=Portal Groups, OU=Applications, DC=Domain1, DC=Domain2
    Then set that as your group query base.  Assuming you have a bunch of groups scattered around your tree that you want in here, create shadow groups that essentially contain your other groups, e.g.:
    CN=GroupA, DC=Plumtree
    CN=GroupB, OU=Eng, DC=Plumtree
    I want both of those groups to be in my portal groups OU, so I create two new groups in my portal groups OU as follows:
    CN=GroupA, OU=Portal Groups, OU=Applications, DC=Domain1, DC=Domain2
    CN=GroupB, OU=Portal Groups, OU=Applications, DC=Domain1, DC=Domain2
    Both of these groups simply contain one member - the groups I am shadowing.  You can also more effectively deal with name clashing if you use this strategy.
    Make sense?
