Share Windows 8 Printers 802.1X (WLAN)

Regards,
I had some drawbacks to share printers on windows 8
Specifically it is:
I have the "a" shared printer on the computer "1"
When the user closes the session on the computer "1" users who are using the share lose access (which from my point of view is normal)
The question is this:
That strategy could use to continue sharing this resource even if the user closes session?
I have in mind 3 options
The first is to use advanced adapter properties and save the user login credentials.
The second is to authenticate the computer as such in the domain.
The third and least we be advisable (for cost) wireless print servers installed in each of the printers
Because if there is any other way to solve this and what would be the most convenient?
Waiting for your comments
Sincerely

We use the computer authentication mode to be sure that the client is a domain PC and managed by Us. And I see that he is connected without a login, so I would give that option a try in your case. U should be able to test that easy with a test ssid and corresponding radius setup....

  • Unable to share files and printers

I have a new iMac and an older PC running Vista. I have turned on the correct network settings (I forget the exact name). But I am unable to see the workgroup or any other computers on the network. The windows computer is the same unable to see my network as well.
I am new to Mac OS but can learn quickly. Please help me and any questions you have for me please ask
Oh. The printer I am trying to connect is a Epson Stylus CX7400

I have a similar problem : I cannot 'see' my Mac from my PC or my PC from my Mac. There are no machines visible in the Network window.
I did have a problem connecting to the two wireless printers on the network, but following advice on the HP site, I 'solved' that by replacing the modem / router.
On my small home wireless network, the Mac is Ethernetted into the router and the PC (running Vista) is connected by wireless. Both machines can see the Internet, and both share the wireless printers successfully.
I followed some advice on the "Problems connecting to a network" thread, and somewhat mysteriously a machine called "PowerMac-000A959989FE" appeared in the network window. However, no connection can be made even though this appears to be the Mac on my network as it has the same HW UID!
Any ideas / suggestion most welcome.

  • Mac OS X 10.6 Setting up and Printing to Windows Domain Printers

    Hi Guys,
I have a Windows Domain currently running here at work. I am running a print server on one of our Windows 2003 Servers.
I have successfully joined 4 Mac Pro machines to the domain. They are all logging on to the domain and can access shares etc.
My problem is that I wish to add the networked printers that appear on the domain print server to the Mac Pros.
When i go to System Preferences > Print and Fax then click the + button. I see a list of all the printers that are exclusively installed on the Windows Print Server.
Some are listed in the Add Printer window as Bonjour and some Open Directory. The Bonjour items I can add fine, its the Open Directory ones that are causing me problems.
How can I add these printers to each machine without manually installing the drivers for each printer on each Mac. Why am I seeing some Bonjour listed printers and some that are not?
Any help would be very much appreciated

Some are listed in the Add Printer window as Bonjour and some Open Directory. The Bonjour items I can add fine, its the Open Directory ones that are causing me problems.
How can I add these printers to each machine without manually installing the drivers for each printer on each Mac.
The answer depends on what printer description language (PDL) these Windows shared printers support. If they are Postscript then it is possible that a PPD for the printer may already exist on the Mac and so all you need to do is select it from the Print Using menu. And if the PPD is not present then you can still select Generic Postscript. But the thing to note is that since you are sharing the queue from Windows, rather than connecting directly to the printer (as you are doing with the Bonjour printer) then the Mac does not know what the printer is so you still need to manually select the correct printer on the Mac.
If the printer is not Postscript and requires a proprietary printer language then would have to manually install this driver on every Mac. And even with this driver installed on the Mac there is no guarantee that it will work via the Windows share. Many vendor drivers are written for direct communication to the network printer. Sticking a Windows queue in between stops the Mac driver from communicating with the printer and this in turn stops the Mac from printing. So if you can tell us what printer models you have then we can provide better information.
Why am I seeing some Bonjour listed printers and some that are not?
Not all network printers support Bonjour. Often only newer models of business printers support this protocol, while it is more prevalent in consumer printers. And what you are seeing is a multicast coming directly from the printer. So if you don't want the users to bypass your Windows print server and connect directly to these printers, then you may not want them broadcasting their presence.
But the benefit of the printer using Bonjour is that they are able to communicate with the Mac what they are and this helps with the Mac determining which printer driver to use,  so as you have noted the setup for the Bonjour printer on Mac is easy, because it helps the help with selecting the correct driver.
Hope this helps with your questions. Please reply if you need more information

  • Lion Server 802.1x WLAN System Profile

Hello skilled guys in the community :-)
Today I would need some kind of how-to about configuring Lion clients into a Lion Server 802.1x WLAN network. As I am currently setting everything up from scratch in my home/lab environment here the bits and pieces I have already successfully up and running:
    DHCP
    DNS
    Open Directory Master
    Profile Manager
The next I've done is to activate the Radius service in the server which first of all asks me for the certificate. There was only one and this was the one created from the Open Directory wizard. As the root certificate of this certificate should be already installed in managed clients (done by joining to the Profile Manager) workstations should already trust this certificate and there should be no issue.
Question here: Can this certificate be used and am I on the right way or should I create an own certificate for this? Is yes, how?
After many hours of playing around with the radius server and my access point (3COM 9552) I finally got it working and I could connect to my 802.1x network by just providing OD username and password.
Question here: When adding a new radius client there are four fields in the dialog box: Name (should be clear), IP (more than clear), the shared secrect (also not a problem) and the type. As this type is not a drop down field but just a text box I was wondering quite a while what the server expects from me to put in there. I decided to write there 'other' as this was the only option I could find from googling. Is this correct?
As next step I would like to configure a WLAN System profile using Profile Manager. So a WLAN connection which is up even though nobody is logged into the machine.
Question here: Can anybody help me with this. I had a look into this config dialog in Profile Manager but could not get any clue of System Profile and also don't know what else I need to configure there. I also see that I need to configure a name and password but don't understand why I need this. For my understanding the client machines (especially with System Profile) should use there the machine name and password (COMPUTERNAME$) as I created a trusted bind to OD. Or is it rather so that I need to create a dedicated account for WLAN connection with a not expireing password suitable long? What kind of things I have to configure also in there? Trusts, Authentication?
Thank you already for your help. I'm happy to get the Radius authentication now working. Now would be happy getting rid of the rest of the question marks.
    Cheers
    Robert

    Any ideas here??
In profile manager I also saw the option authenticate with computer credentials. I belief for this it's needed to have a trusted bond to OD like I have. But when I configure it (TTLS with computer name and password) WLAN never gets connected.
Any idea on this. Also where can I see that the profile is made as a system profile. The only tick box I've found is for the logon window authentification which is far to late for me to establish any WLAN connection.
    Thanks.

how do i share windows and iOS on the same hard disk on my MAC? will each of the operating system see the whole disk?

Either you don't understand or misuse just what iOS is, it is only found on iPad, iPhone, iPod and does not run on Macs in any way, and as far as we here the only operating system of interest is Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 or above.
There are forums for iPad and if you have a notebook then you want MacBook Pro forum.
As for Windows, there is a forum for "Boot Camp" to set aside and use part of your hard drive for Windows to run natively.

  • Share window says my footage is 100% shared but video is cut off prematurely.

I finished a segment of a wedding video this week.  I used a compressor bundle to export that includes both the Dolby Digital for DVD (for sound) and the MPEG-2 for DVD (for the video).  The share window says the process is 100% complete.  iMac running Mavericks did not "sleep" or anything during the compression period.  HOWEVER, when I bring the project in to DVD Studio Pro the audio is complete (the audio segment always compresses first [and quickly] anyway) but the video segment is cut off about 2/3 the way through.  I trash and double trash the segments... reshare.... same problem!   Never had any problem with this sharing before.  Full project is 3.6 GB to be burned to a 4.7 GB DVD.  Please advise!!

Okay, this was an odd fix.  Apparently the m2v was sharing through compressor completely each time.  When I brought it into DVD Studio Pro it was cut off at the same place each time.  I viewed it in the Track tab of my DVD Studio Pro project and observed each time that the m2v was shorter than the AC3 audio in the viewer.  Finally, and I don't know for what reason, I just stretched the m2v clip out and there it all was!!  Hope this helps someone else that's as clueless as I was!

  • Share window: "1 warning"

In the Share window, while trying to export directly to Youtube I see "1 Warning" in yellow font but no explaination. Then upload fails way later.
    Please help. Thank you.

You don't say if the failure is in exporting the file itself or in connecting to youtube.
If you are unsure, try exporting a master file. Does it work?

From the "Cisco Aironet Wireless LAN Client Adapters Configuration Guide for Windows", it indicates that Windows 2000 can support host-based EAP with the "Service Pack 3 or greater and the Windows 2000 Wireless 802.1X hot fix".
However, I cannot find the 802.1x hot fix in Microsoft. Please kindly advise how I can download this hot fix. And, what is the function of this 802.1 hot fix?

  • HT4589 share window all grey

I'm unable to share my project as the share window is all grey. I have made sure that the project rather than the event is highlighted and I have tried other suggestions of copying to new files etc. nothing is working. Can anyone advise? Or tell me how to get telephone support?

Corrupted preference files seems to be the cause in many of the reported cases. Use the Pref Manager tool from Digital Rebellion.

  • 'Share' Window - SAVE - Premiere crashes without message

When I am in the 'Share' Window and I select SAVE, Premiere Elements 4 closes without any message, regardless of the Sharing Option selected. It is as though no components are activated, yet I can not find a way to activate components. This is my first Premiere Elements 4 project.
I've have tried several projects with different configuration. The two save options I've tried are Save to Personal Computer and Save to DVD.
It is as if Premiere Elements crashes without giving any error message.
    The product is totally unusable!!!!!!!

    PL,
The interface with QT is one of the reasons that Steve has that listed in the FAQ's and in many replies to error messages. Same for updating drivers, especially for video and audio equipment. One update from MS for the OS can render many drivers obsolete.
One of the problems with a program like PE is that it is really many modules. Some, like the DVD-authoring module (Sonic core), do not readily communicate with other modules, so error messages can be horribly cryptic, or non existant. Same thing, if the crash comes from something with the OS. That is one reason that I always recommend giving the Event Log (through Windows' Event Viewer) a good read, especially the Applications and System tabs. There is often a lot of useful info there (along with a bunch of code, that even MS cannot read!).
Glad you got it working, and thanks for reporting in with the fix.

  • Screen share window size is wrong following Mavericks upgrade

Hi, I use screen share quite a bit, both over LAN but also over the internet and love the feature. I usually have no problems, but after the upgrade to Mavericks on my iMac and Mac Mini (Both 2011 models), I've started seeing problems with the window size of screen share.
Going from my Mavericks iMac to my Lion Macbook pro, there's no problem, and my imac shows a screen share window that is the resolution of the MBP (1440x900). But if I do screen share from my iMac (2550x1440), to my Mac mini (Which is attached by HDMI to a HDTV at 1920x1080), the window gets continuously smaller on each session, and it is now stuck at what I would guess is 320x240.
How can I change this size? I assume is has something to do with Mavericks horrible resolution handling, as I don't get a list of resolutions over HDMI anymore in System Preferences, which was nice and easy in pre-Mavericks OS'.

Thanks, using the zoom button did actually improve quite a bit. It is not full resolution, but almost twice the size it was before and definitely usefull, thanks! Never though about doing that..
Scaling manually doesnt work over the current max window resolution though.
