But I can't read the file on the shared directory.
I haven't this problem if I read a sub directory of

  • Using Time Machine to backup a shared directory on Windows XP.

I have a shared directory on a Windows XP machine on my LAN that I would like to backup using Time Machine.  Apparently Time Machine will not automatically backup shared directories so I created a soft link to the mount point, /Volumes/WindowsXP, and put that link in my home directory.  It doesn't look to me like Time Machine is following the soft link and backing up my shared Windows XP directory.  Am I doing something wrong or will Time Machine simply refuse to backup a shared directory under any conditions?
    Thanks

I solved this problem by using rdiff-backup.  It accomplishes many of the same things that Time Machine does, but only saves differences so it consumes less space.

  • Mac Mini with OS X Tiger  can't connect to windows XP shared directory

I recently upgrade my mac mini from OS X panther to tiger, after i upgrade, i can't connect to the shared directory on my PC. The internet is working correctly on the MAC. and before the upgrading, it works fine as well.
the symptom is I click on finder menu -> go -> connect to server, type in smb://x.x.x.x, click on connect, nothing happens, it does not even try to connect.
I have another Powerbook connecting to the same sub net and it can connect to my PC with no problem.
    please help.
    thank you very much.

as for log out and back in, i tried restarting several times already, which didn't work yet.
Not the same thing actually... logging out and in will theoretically have all the Interfaces up & running already, whereas on Bootup, things may be trying to happen before other things are ready.

  • Is it possible to move the rsw.vba file to a shared directory?

As I create more global functions, contants, variables, subs etc., this file will get very important. So Important that I suspect if it were somehow to become corrupt, deleted or lost most or all of my scripts would be broken. Right now I don't have source control software so I would like to store this file on our fileserver. I have already moved my repositories, scripts and DataBank Files to this location.
    Thanks in advance,
    hagstal

    Hagstal
i don't believe is possible to move the RSW.vba file to a shared directory, however you can just copy the file across different machines.
I would also strongly recommend that, (if this file is gonna become so important) to use a source control system, SVN and tortoise make a very good combination
    (http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/).
Have a look at this thread, it has some other ideas on how to share your RSW.vba file

  • Getting a list of files from a shared directory

    Hi All,
I need to get a list of files from a shared directory on another server and put them in a HTMLB TableView element with links to the files.
I was not successful with CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>DIRECTORY_LIST_FILES. This method works in test mode, but gives me a gui_not_supported exception in BSP. I guess BSPs are not allowed to use this.
    Is there any other alternative?
I need to be able to upload the files as well.
    Thanks,
    Roman

    Hi again,
Not sure about the shared directory files list...
In my opinion, this cannot be done using BSP.
But, you can try using VBScript to access the file system with object of that sort :
    CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
it is only a thought and you can be sure to cross security problems by accessing files through a Web application...

  • Download the Report content on to a shared directory

    Dear BI experts,
We do not have Open Hub with us. We are now broadcasting our reports to our users email ID. However the users wants the report data to be saved (or downloaded) regularly (no maual intervention) on to a shared directory so that they could access the data at their convenience.
Could you please tell me as to how this could be done.
    Thanks,
    Sai

    Hi,
Go for broadcasting to Portal option where you can broadcast the report to a particular folder like BEx Portfolio or My Portfolio.Later you can access it.

  • Shared Directory Help

I accidentally deleted the information in the shared directory pages that displays the directory listings and what is in them (just the default out of the box oracle codes).
I am a mid/expert portal user but a novice SQL user so I have NO clue how to get it back. Does anyone know if I can do a partial restore of this information or what snippet of code I deleted that caused the removal of the file indexing?
I believe the code was located in the navigation banner (it was the only thing I changed before I realized it was gone)
For now, I have the HTML code from the wireless devices hanging out there ( for A it is :
a... ( Where MODE =23 = wireless (I don't know what it is for NOT wireless or if it was more sophisticated than HTML before)
But obviously, if someone clicks on one of the above links, they get the wireless shared directories information instead of the correct share document information which is way no good.
Any help or insight you all could provide would be extremely helpful
    Thanks

  • Read and Write from Remote Shared directory

    Hello everyone,
I'm working on an enterprise portal. One of the things i was asked to do is access a remote directory (like "\\machine\share\") and be able to, at least, list the files, download to the portal user any of them, and be able to upload some as well. Also my goal is to create dinamycally a directory inside the shared one for every record I insert into a database for, for example, creating a course (each course has an attachment of files with the schedules, curriculum, etc. in pdf or doc files).
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to star this? are there any API's, packages or something like that that i can use?
    Thank you in advance.

I have allready done that type of Project
I use FTP to Connect remote server. there is api call
com.enterprisedt.net.ftp you can download it free
also you can get the document of that API.
    there is som sample code

  • Windows 7 Cannot see All folders in shared directory

    Hi all,
Here's a real stumper of a question. I have two folks connecting to our XServe G5 server using Windows 7 Home Premium via Boot Camp. Mapping to the network drive via IP address allows the two users to connect to the shares, no problem. . .or so it would seem.
For whatever, unintelligible reason, certain folders in the directory are non-viewable, and inaccessible. For example, this is what one of our users running on a Mac will see:
    Folder 2003
    Folder 2004
    Folder 2005
    Folder 2006
    Folder 2007
    Folder 2008
    Folder 2009
The Mac users use the EXACT same logon credentials as the Boot Camp Windows 7 Users. However, when looking at the same folder list for the Windows 7 users:
    Folder 2003
    Folder 2004
    Folder 2005
    Folder 2006
    Folder 2008
    Folder 2009
I have never come across anything quite like this. As I said, our Mac and PC users utilize the EXACT same credentials to access this shared folder on our XServe G5, yet for some reason, one or two folders are completely inaccessible on the Windows side. I've tried manually entering the directory, and I receive a "folder not found" error. Which is ridiculous, because it's there.
Any idea what I should look at to get a clearer idea?

This is off topic here, Gerchak, but I couldn't think of another way of responding to an older thread of yours that was archived: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11164152#11164152
You can reduce your wired memory usage by 256MB by disabling the IntelHD graphics, which uses shared memory for its VRAM. My testing has shown that disabling that (and thus leaving the GT 330M active all the time) really doesn't impact battery performance that much. I'd rather have the RAM, personally.
Here's what I did on my 2010 17" to disable the built-in Intel HD graphics:
    % cd /System/Library/Extensions
% ls -l AppleIntelHD* # this should show you the extensions for the HD chip
    % sudo mkdir AppleIntelHD-disabled
    % sudo mv AppleIntelHDGraphics* AppleIntelHD-disabled
Wait about two minutes for kextcache to run and update your extensions cache, and then reboot. Your wired RAM should have fallen by 256MB.

  • "Enable Access Control" for shared directory is grayed out

For shared directories in WorkGroup Manager, the checkbox "Enable Access Control" is grayed out. I want to enable ACL on a directory I have moved from another volume. The "Enable disk quotas" is also grayed out.
How do I turn on Enable ACL?
    Dennis

ACLs are enabled at the volume level. In the Sharing panel of WGM, you need to click the "All" tab so that you see more than just your sharepoints. Select the disk volume upon which your directory is located and then the "Enable Access Control" option should become available to you.
Note that enabling the ACLs doesn't apply them. Your directory will continue to use POSIX permissions until you specifically apply ACLs to it.

  • File Adapter on shared directory

    Hi,
I am trying to use file adapter on a mapped network drive, windows machine.
    I am getting this error:

The value specified for the input (Physical/Logical)Directory activation parameter has an invalid value "O:\BCRSignatures"

    1) It exists and is a directory (not a file). and
    2) It is readable (file read permissions). and

    4) If using a logical name, then ensure that the mapping from logical name<-physical directory is correctly specified in the deployment descriptor

The error persists even with "no delete files after processing" and "no archive processed files", options.
    Any ideeas? Sugestions?
    Regards,
    Latha

    Hi Latha,
Can the user your running your AS access the directory? Assuming you're on windows, by default the process manager service runs as the local system account. Try running the service as a named user with sufficient privileges on the directory.

  • Updated reports saved to shared directory not updating for users.

We are using Crystal Reports XI to generate reports based upon our application (EZ-CAP).  When we update a report, and save it to our shared report folder on the server, the users "see" only the original report when the open it in Crystal Reports.  This behaviour persists even if they reboot their systems. We see this by looking at the timestamp in the Open dialog, which is not the current date/time.  The data is not refreshed, either.
However, if the users close Crystal Reports and manually "find" the report by browsing the reports folder, when they next open Crystal Reports, the "new" file is available.
We suspect the reports are being cached inside Crystal Reports, but don't know how or why.  We are not using the Repository at this time.
    Any insight will be appreciated.

    Hi Vickie,
When your user browse for the new file, are they following the same netowkr path as the Open FIles in Crystal?  Is it possible the folder the reports are saved to may be mapped to a duplicate folder somewhere else on the network?
That's a dumb response but I've run across that situation before.
The reports are saved with .rpt extensions and no spaces?  Since Crystal's Common Dialog is looking for files with that extension.
In the File Open, if you change the Files of Type to All Files, do your users see the new reports?
    Good luck,
    Brian
