Shared library doesnt load on ipad

I have a very large amount of media (mainly audio books and music, including over 2000 music videos) I find that on the whole home sharing works fine with my Apple TV which is hard wired to the network but when I try to access the shared library on my Ipad 2 the little timer goes round to half way and always stops.
I had this issue some time ago but it seemed to be resolved by an update but it is happening again, which means I cannot access any of the media on my shared library from my Ipad. Both the Ipad and Itunes are running the latest versions and Itunes is running on Windows 7 64bit.
I have tried restarting the ipad and restarting the home server but neither resolves the problem. The wireless signal is strong so dont understand why it works on the Apple TV but not the Ipad. Could it be the size of the library? my itunes folder currently stands at 508GB.
Any help in getting this resolved would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

This is not a java problem.
It is a VM problem.
So for the VM (vendor and version) that you are using it requires certain things.
It might be that the VM doesn't load 32 at all. Or that you have to do something different when you compile it.
A forum that is specific to your VM might be more productive (this site tends to be strongly solaris/linux/windows.)

  • Can an iTunes shared library be 'loaded' using applescript

When looking at iTunes shared libraries they either have a triangle on the left of the library name or not. If you click on the library name then the triangle appears if it wasnt there before. This may take some time to happen and whilst it is going on iTunes states that the library is being 'loaded'.
If the library isnt loaded then i get an error -1728 if i try any access to it, otherwise i can access the library without problems.
Is there a way of 'loading' the library using AS ?
This script illustrates and the open statement doesnt work but was my attempt to load the source
    set shared_library to "iBook Music"
    tell application "iTunes"
set source_list to (get every source)
set source_names to (get name of every source)
    try
set playlist_count to (count of playlists of source shared_library)
    on error errMsg number errNum
    if errNum is -1728 then
log "* The source is not 'loaded'"
    open source shared_library
    else
    log "* " & errMsg & errNum
    end if
    end try
    end tell

Yes, although there are a couple of things to check and do.
First of all, when the iPod is connected to iTunes, look on the Device/iTunes U pane and make sure that Sync iTunes U is ticked ON and that the options below the tick-box are set as you want them. (Mine are automatically include all items of all collections.)
After the Sync has finished, look on the iPod:
audio - under Playlists/iTunes U. (No, I've no idea why they should be only there...)
    video - under Video Playlists/iTunes U or Video/Video Playlists/iTunes U. (Still no idea why...)
One point to note, if the video is in a format that the iPod cannot play, then of course, you won't find it on the iPod, but if you have set it to Sync to the iPod, you should see a message at the end of the Sync process informing you that they haven't been transferred.

  • Images in the shared library not loaded in the application EAR

The images in the shared library are not getting loaded in the application EAR deployed in the weblogic server.
I have a portal web project, which is deployed in the server, as a shared library. I'm using this shared library in my application EAR. All the details like the portlets, look and feel elements are loaded. But the images are not displayed when I run my application. Please help!!
Can it be a problem with the context path specified or something else?

    Hello,
It is most likely an issue with how your portlets are creating the URLs to the images. What kind of portlets are you using (JPF, JSF, JSR168, Struts, JSP)? And how are you generating the URLs to the images?

  • Itunes won't load shared library just loads and closes

Enabled home sharing, shows "John Doe's Library". When I click on it, it says "Loading John Doe's Library" after about 10 seconds it jumps back to my main library and won't load John Doe's library. Help!!!
*Itunes is updated, tried restarting, John Doe can open my library on his computer.

Thanks for the tip but holding the option key didn't seem to do anything at all. I'm not sure how to navigate to my library file (is this all done in iTunes or the Finder?) It just launched iTunes with no mp3's listed, all the preferences remain and there is no welcome screen as if it's the first time I've run iTunes and no mention of a corrupt file.
This is really bizarre to me. My music library is far too large to drag and drop all the files into iTunes every time I want to update my iPod.

    Hi,
U should set env. variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH. It is like PATH variable, can be pointed, where the shared libraries are existing.
I think, this file may be calling some other sahred libraries, existing in some other directories.
    Do these things.
    1. At ur HOME directory, by using find command findout, where are shared libraries are existing.
    find . -name "*.so" -print
Then u will get the path name
    2. If there is any other paths, add these paths with this env. variable. Using this command u can find out.
    echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Pls keep this env. variable in profile file.

  • I can see home sharing on my iPhone and iPad both running iOS 5 but when it loads the library is empty. Help!!

The iPad is new today so pleeeease help! I have the latest version of iTunes and both iPhone and iPad are up to date. I have never had a problem with home sharing before 10.5 iTunes. Both mobile devices can eventually see the shared library but load it as though it is empty. This applies to movies as well. I have turned off home sharing on the mac and restarted it. I have also made sure that the username and password on both mobile devices are correct. Help!
    Mac mini ppc running 10.5.8
    iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0
    iPad 2 running iOS 5.0

This has solved loads of people who have this issue and have used an alternate DNS setting.  Below are instructions for both iPhone OTA and on you Mac
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try an OTA (over the air update)
    Change DNS Servers
    Settings -> Wi-Fi
Click the blue arrow on your connected network
Delete everything in DNS and replace it with 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
    Try again
If this works, you will probably want to remove the WiFi network using "Forget This Network" and then reconnect to it to get your original DNS servers back. Alternatively, make a note of the original DNS servers before deleting them and replace it after you are done.
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try through iTunes
    On your Mac
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
Select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, unless you named it something else) from the list, and then click Advanced.
Click DNS, and then click Add at the bottom of the DNS Servers list. Enter the IPv4 address for the DNS server.
    You can use OpenDNS
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    or
You can Google Public DNS if you want
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4
I have actually repointed my routers DNS so all my devices now point to OpenDNS servers

  • Using V9 C++ parser within shared library (Solaris)

I am trying to use the latest C++ version of XML parser within a shared library on Solaris (v8) but I am having a problem with an unresolved symbol when the shared library is loaded.

We currently successfully use the previous version of the parser on Solaris (oraxml8) with same build settings within our application.
I am able to build and run the sample demo successfully.

  • HT202213 can home sharing link automatically or do I have to connect each time after connection is lost ie if i leave house for day with phone do I have to connect shared library again on phone in evening when back in house?

Can home sharing link automatically or do I have to connect each time after connection is lost ie if i leave house for day with iphone or ipad do I have to connect shared library again on iphone/ipad in evening when back in house? It would be good if it just links automatically

Well then maybe I misunderstood what you meant even though now that you explained it again, I should have though about that.
When you leave the house in the morning with your device, you lose the connection to the library because you are no longer on the same WiFi network as you are at home. You have to be on the same network in order to use Home Sharing. Once you get home again, you have to select the Shared Library again.
I apologize for the confusion or misunderstanding.

  • Apple's Videos App on iPad won't load my shared library

    Hi,
I've been looking for an answer to this problem for ages!
    Symptoms/context:
You have all your movies onto one big drive
You have uncheck Preferences|Advanced|"Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library"
(this way all titles will be linked to your big drive, not copied)
You have drag/drop those movies from your big drive in Finder into your iTunes Movies library
You have enabled Home Sharing (File|Home Sharing|Turn On Home Sharing)
You have disabled the old way of sharing (Preferences|Sharing tab|Uncheck "Share my library on my local network")
You have proudly added a very nice artwork for each of your movie so that you'll get nice thumbnails in iTunes
    by using Identify.app
or by looking on the web for the best artwork (i.e. flickfacts.com), saving it locally, then drag/drop on your movie in iTunes (Get Info|Artwork)
You're using Apple's Videos app to load your shared library on you iPad
(Start Videos app, select your Shared library, wait a while, then all your thumbnails are displayed fine)
Then as the days go by, you realize that loading your library is taking more and more time, up until that day when all **** brakes loose and you get stuck at the small round clock progress bar, and you wait and wait but no thumbnails is coming up anymore. You reset everything to no avail. What happened?!!
Well here's what I had to do to fix that problem:
    Everything is about movie thumbnails!
In my case I had an overhead of 0.5GB of thumbnails for 650 movies! That's an overhead alright! By overhead I mean that the sum of all my thumbnails was 500MB, so the Videos app had to load this (maybe not entirely at once but...) every time you start the app and select your shared library. This explain  why the app get slower and slower has you add new movies, thus new thumbnails/artworks.
But this doesn't really explain why ultimately the Videos app stops loading all of a sudden!
I realize the iTunes doesn't like:
Movie that doesn't show the correct icon preview in Finder
Invalid movie formats - I'll explain later
    Big thumbnails
Read all 3 steps and don't forget the last paragraph at the end.
Movies that doesn't show the correct icon preview in Finder
Ultimately, I think that was the main problem of all my 3 steps
In Finder, enable the Icon Preview:
View|Show View Options|Check "Show Icon Preview"
You should now be able to see you thumbnails like this in Finder:
    VALID:
    INVALID:
But if you see any of these icons, the Videos app on the iPad might stumble a bit when loading the library
    or
If that's the case for some of your movies, you'll have to make sure that ALL your movies have a proper thumbnail. This can be achieve:
    by using Identify.app - see (note1)
or by looking on the web for the best artwork (i.e. flickfacts.com), saving it locally, then drag/drop on your movie in iTunes (Get Info|Artwork)
Once the thumbnail is corrected, it should display fine in Finder and iTunes
    Invalid movie formats
There might be some cases where even after correcting the thumbnail in step 1., this icon still remains invalid.
If that's the case, you'll need to:
Either delete the movie altogether and rip it again
or reconvert it. For example with iSkySoft iMedia Converter Deluxe has a "Speed conversion" option that allows you to reconvert a 2.5GB movie in about 5 min. After the re-conversion I just had to do step 1. and all was fine, and the thumbnail would show well in Finder/iTunes.
Big thumbnails - may be optional
To speed up the loading of the movie library you have to reduce the size of the artwork that you insert into each of your movie's metadata:
Get the artwork on the web (i.e. flickfacts.com) and preferably a .jpg format, and save it locally
Open your movie file with Preview (Apple's preview app)
    Tools | Adjust Size
Fit into: 640x480 pixels + OK
Save As (press Option before Saving) and save it in another folder (I called my folder "Reduced to 640x480")
Note: if you want to do this on a bunch of files at once: select all your files in Finder, right click and select Open. All you .jpgs will be opened in Preview. Then Ctrl-A to select all in Preview, then you can resize them all)
You'll noticed that a 1.5MB artwork can easily reduced as small as 50K-200K.
For example, I went from 500MB to 72MB for all my artworks. Much smallest overhead wouldn't you say?!
Now comes the part you'll all love : you need to remove ALL your old big artworks for ALL your iTunes movies:
    in iTunes | Movies
    Right click on a movie|Get Info|Artwork tab|Select the artwork|Delete
Drag/drop your newly reduced .jpg to that same window
    Click OK to save.
You can't do that in batch, you have to do each manually like this (if anyone has a better idea, I'm all ears)
    See (note1)
(note1) Important: If you use a program like Identify.app to retrieve the metadata/artwork, I'm pretty sure the size of the automatically retrieved artwork is quite big by default (around 1.5MB-2MB) so you might wanna be careful here and use it to retrieve the movie's metadata, but after that do step 3. to replace the artwork with a smaller one.
    VERY IMPORTANT
Once step 1, 2 are completed (and I had already completed the optional step 3) you have to remove all movies from iTunes (see note, next sentence ) and drag/drop them all back from your drive to your iTunes Movies window. BEFORE REMOVING ALL MOVIES FROM iTUNES, make sure that the option (Preferences|Advanced|"Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library") was uncheck. If it was checked, I'm pretty sure it will delete all your movies on disk, not only in iTunes!!! - you'll have to investigate this yourselves or make sure you have a good backup copy of your movies first.
Since I've done all this, my iPad's Videos app is taking about 10-20 sec to load my over than 600 movies library
    Pfew!!
    Have fun gang,
    Jean

This worked for me... A little time consuming but once you get rolling it goes GREAT... Thanks....
I got my artwork and saved it to my Desktop
Opened up Microsoft Paint and clicked on "File" and "Open" and found it to get it on the screen to resize it
Clicked "resize" and a box for changing it opened up
Checked the box "Pixels" and "Unchecked maintain aspect ratio"
Set Horizontal for 640 and Vertical for 480
Clicked on "OK" and went back to "File" and did a "Save As" and chose JPEG Picture
It came up "File Already Existed" and clicked "OK" (really did not care about the original artwork I found because wrong size)
Went to iTunes and on the movie right clicked on "Get Info", clicked on "Details", then "Artwork"
Go to the little box on the top left that shows your old artwork and click on it to get the little blue border to appear around it and hit "Delete" to make it gone
Click on "Add Artwork" and find it where you put the one from above on your Desktop and hit "Open" and OK and your new artwork is now there and all good.
Sounds like a lot of steps to follow but after around 5 or so you will fly through it. This worked perfect on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have artwork on my Home Videos now.

  • Why aren't all of my television shows loading on my iPad under the "shared' library?

I have the 1st gen ipad.  When i go into the ipad's "videos" app and load the "shared" library from my imac, all of my movies, podcasts, and music videos appear to show up with no problem.  However, on the "tv shows" tab, it is only loading some of the shows.  The only thing I've been able to narrow it down to is that it seems to stop alphabetically each time I re-load.  The same shows are always added and they appear to be the first ones in alpha order until they start with the letter "L."
Are there some settings that would cause it not to load other shows of certain quality?  Some other way to get these to load?
    Thanks.

Do you already have a solution? I have the same problem!

  • Shared library will not load on my iPad.

In the videos app on my iPad, when I click on the shared library tile under the 'Shared' button, the library loads until the indicator gets halfway, and then it just stops. However, in my iPhone (4, iOS 6), the library loads almost immediately. The library is also available on my appleTV.
I've tried quitting the apps involved (iPad Videos app, iTunes on the computer), and restarting both the iPad and iMac.
This problem is intermittent. It was working fine last week, although this has happened twice before, and I cannot figure out what resolved it.
    What gives?

I did talk to Apple Support about a month ago, and they walked me through shutting down Home Sharing on my Mac and all devices, and then restarting all hardware, and then restarting Home Sharing on everything.
This got my library to finally load, and I was able to stream the movies to my iPad. But it lasted for less than a day, and now I'm back to where I started, unable to load the library in the Videos app or the Music app.
I don't have to do this with my iPhone (4, OS6) or appleTV, and I certainly don't want to reboot everything in order to stream a movie or music onto my iPad.
    Again, Apple, what gives?

  • How can I access the Home Sharing Library from my iPad?

We have an ipad 2 with ios 7, and an imac with itunes 11.1.3
Just heard about home sharing and want to use this - surprised we haven't heard of it before
home sharing is turned on in itunes (file > home sharing).
home sharing is on for the ipad (settings > music)
They are both connected to the same wifi network (usually our computer doesnt use wifi and is wired, but we turned wifi on just for this)
When I open music in the ipad (even after continually quitting and reopening the app) there is no 'more' button in the bottom right that there is supposed to be.
What is wrong? How do I access the library from the ipad? Help please!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
More does more than home sharing, so it's odd that it isn't there, even if home sharing wasn't working for some reason. Are you sure you are in the music app and not the iTunes App.

  • I have an iphone 4s and when I try to connect it to my shared libraries; I get an icon of a circle that only fills up halfway.  I have an ipad and it connects to the shared library without a problem.  My library is much larger than the capacity of either

I have an iphone 4s and when I try to connect to my shared library I see an icon of a circle that only becomes half full.  It does not connect.  I also have an ipad, which connects without incident. My itunes library is larger than the capacity of both devices, so that cannot be the issue.  How can I get the phone to connect with my shared library?

My husband and I are using the same iTunes account on all mac & pc computers, but the libraries are different on each machine.  We always manually manage our music (no auto sync).  iTunes is up to date on the PCs.  My husband uses our joint iTunes account on his pc, but once again, has a different collection in his library from those on the other machines.  He can't load any music from his PC to his iphone 4.  I can load music from my mac library to my iphone 4s, but cannot load from my pc library to my iphone 4s.  How can I switch my main library that it syncs with from the mac to the pc?
    Thanks

  • Shared music and movie library stops loading

The shared iTunes music and movie library stops loading on my ios devices.
iTunes 11.1.5 is set up for both home sharing and library sharing over my secured home wifi network. Home sharing between the mini that is running iTunes and my old Macbook works without any issues.
My ios devices can see and will eventually connect to the shared library but connecting is pretty slow unless the ios devices are in the same room with the mini.
After a few hours my ios connection to the shared music and movie library drops and stops loading halfway when I try to reconnect.
The ipad is running ios 7.1 and my iPhone is running ios 6.1.3.

    Hi Jay Clay and Hagerty,
I'm in the same boat.  I'm running iTunes 11.2.2 on a Macbook Pro (running 10.9.3) and iOS 7.1.1 on an iPhone 4s; so running the latest version of software is not the issue.
The username logs in correctly on all devices and I can actually see the iTunes library available to share on my device.  From "Music" on the phone, I go to "More > Shared" and then select the library that is shared from my Macbook.  So I know that the login information is correct.
The circular status wheel begins to load and gets halfway around before it stalls and does not resume.  This process happens repeatedly, so it's reproduceable and consistent -- not a one-time issue.
I've tried restarting both systems, but the same problem ensues.  I've also tried signing out and signing back into Home Sharing on all devices, which did not resolve the issue.  I've read and followed all the recommendations in "Troubleshooting Home Sharing", but these really only offer solutions if you're not able to see the shared library; which is not the issue that I believe Jay Clay, Hagerty and I are having.
    Some thoughts:
Could it be that the iTunes library is too large?
Could it be that Home Sharing times out if the library is not loaded in a set amount of time?
I've attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing on my iPhone, for your reference.
Also, here is the confirmation page I'm seeing in iTunes, so Home Sharing appears to be working.
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • I just upgraded to iTunes 10.2.2.12 and my Apple TV will no longer load my shared library.

On Windows 7.  It was working fine right up to the point of the upgrade to iTunes 10.2.2.12.  Once I upgraded and restarted my home computer, the Apple TV (Gen2) does still see the share name of my main home computer hosting the iTunes shared library listed under the 'Computers' tab ... but when I try to connect the Apple TV says 'Loading "xxxx library"' for several minutes then fails.  I've tried rebooting, restarting the Bonjour service, etc., but nothing changes this behavior.
I'm really getting tired of these issues with connecting Apple TVs to my home library.  I also have a Gen1 Apple TV, and iTunes can see it fine, but it won't sync any content.  It's like the newer versions of Bonjour just doesn't remain 100% backward compatible.  Now neither my Gen1 or Gen2 Apple TVs work with my main home library.  Very frustrating as the only content I can view on either of my Apple TVs is Internet content.  Apple, please, please put as much energy and attention into your software quality and compatibility testing as you do on your wonderful industrial design and human factors.

I have the same problem but not with an Apple TV.  I have four machines sharing across my home network.  I cannot load the library from one machine.  All other libraries share correctly, including sharing to the machine with the library that won't share.  Everything is up to date and I use the same virus software on all machines, without the problem on the other libraries. PLEASE HELP!!
