Sharepoint 2010 is automatically downloading Office2010 files to local machine's Recent Documents, instead of opening from library, off an emailed link.
Hi-
Please forgive me if this exact question has been asked already (if so I'm not finding it via Google or these forums), but one of my users can't seem to edit documents IN libraries, via links emailed to him. He clicks on the link and the
file auto-downloads with no Read-only/Edit option pop-up, and he can edit it (without getting the annoying yellow "this is read only from the server, click to edit document" bar up top either), but naturally his changes to these documents
are only being saved on his local machine and not making it back to the library.... Our IT dept gave him a Save As workaround (that, it appears, would make a SECOND file in the library, which is not going to work for our processes), but nobody
else is having this issue.... I'm thinking this is a simple settings change someplace in Sharepoint 2010 or Word 2010 (we have Windows 7), or maybe IE, or it's possible his User profile in our network needs some kind of adjustment... anyway,
any/all help appreciated. Thanks.
CF
Hi,
1. For automatically download the files, please check the office software settings. for word file, please open local word > file > options > save > save checked-out files to: > select "the office document cache"
2. site actions > site settings > site administration > search and offline availablity to change the settings.
3. Please compare the add-ons from this user's IE setting and the working fine IE setting.

You can download the file from BSP pages using the method
CL_BSP_UTILITY=>download.
Please follow the below mentioned steps.
1.Convert the text to a text table ie Internal table with a line type char255 or some others.
2.Convert the text table into a string.
3.Convert the string to XSTRING.
4.Download that XSTRING as text file using the method
CL_BSP_UTILITY=>download.
Parameters:
OBJECT_S - XSTRING data
CONTENT_TYPE = ' application/download'
CONTENT_DISPOSITION = 'attachment; file=test.txt'
RESPONSE = runtime->server->response
NAVIGATION = navigation

Can I set up e-mail to automatically download attached files from a trusted source
can I set up e-mail to automatically download attached files from a trusted source to a desktop folder? Can't find the option (if one exists) in "Rules."
Have you checked Mail > Preferences > General > Downloads folder - change that to desktop. That should do it (that is my setting and it works here).

now problem is that if i m giving IP address of local machine then its giving error ORA-39856.
And if i m giving IP address of server machine then it is going to create file on server machine from local machine.
Why its not creating file on client machine?
i think there r problems related to rights

this open stmt is written in before report trigger

lpad(apt_vat_amt2,12,' ') || ',' ||
lpad(ltrim(to_char(apt_amt2,'999999990.00')),12,' ');
Text_IO.Put(out_file, str);

Since I upgraded to Mavericks X, I don't have "permission" to open my photo files in Time Machine. Other documents seem to work fine, and I am the only "administrator".
Is the iPhoto library in your home folder, or have you moved it somewhere else?

I have verified that the service account for the SPUCHostService is a domain account belonging to the the WSS_WPG local group (I also tried adding to the WSS_ADMIN_WPG group with no more success). The WSS_WPG
group has read and write access to the log folder mentioned above.
I started troubleshooting this when I tried to activate and use the CRM 2011 list control. And found that other sandboxed solutions also fail which lead me to look at the SharePoint 2010 User Code Host, which will not keep running.
I have a Sharepoint 2010 enterprise farm with one WFE and one seperate database server all on a single domain. The WFE is running on Windows 2008 sp2 (64 bit).
I look forward to your advice / suggestions.
PS. I have been working on this for a couple days, and have read many issues that seem to be related, but I have already checked that the Service is now set to automatic, that the service account is a member of the WSS_WPG group and should therefore
have rights to the Logs folder. It is also a member of the Local Administrators and the Performance Log Users group.
Fred ZilzAfter IISReset I don't see the Logs directory issue but I still have the following:

Safari automatically downloads "Unknown" file
In the last few days I have found that Safari automatically downloads files called "Unknown". It sometimes happens when I am using another application so it doesn't seem related to something that I have just done. Also I find that Safari is DEAD slow with some pages or part of the content of some pages.
Here's what I have tried so far. I have deleted all the plist files in both the user account and the library folder in the system folder. I have zapped the PRAM, rebuilt permissions and restarted in safe mode. I have Resert Safari and Emptied the Cache under the Safari menu. I have also updated my antivirus and run it. Nothing has helped.
The sites that load slowly do not behave the same way in Firefox, but I would like to use Safari for most of these most of the time. Any suggestions of a cure would be most welcome.Hi Linc.

Firefox automatically downloads a file
I opened a website and downloaded a brochure to my desktop that was supposed to be a pdf file. However, it downloaded as a pdf.part file and I was not able to open the .part extension, so I then placed both files into the trash and emptied the trash. Now, those two files automatically download every time that I open Firefox. I then uninstalled my Firefox application, ran Disk Utility to repair disk permissions, repaired the disk with my OS 10.6 CD, ran MacKeeper several times, rebooted the computer and then installed Firefox from the Firefox website. I ran Disk Utility and MacKeeper several times, trashed Firefox several times and installed it from the Firefox website.
The two files still automatically download every time that I open Firefox. It seems that the website or those two files contaminated Firefox, even after it has been trashed and installed as a new application.
I would appreciate any ideas that may resolve this issue.
Thanks to all of you for the great suggestions to prior issues. This Community is great.No it's saving the preferences and the check box remains checked from session to session. It will even continue to ask me to what to do with the file even in the same session when i try to download the same file again 5 seconds after i downloaded it the first time.

when downloading large files such as videos of a television season do you need to turn off autolock to prevent download from halting? And if so, if the download will take a significant amount of time (not sure how much offhand) how do you prevent burn in from prolonged screen image?
Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

My Word documents are not opening from sharepoint
When I attempt to open a word document from sharepoint it remains stuck at "Downloading: http://intranet/document url"
Word 2010 and SharePoint 2010
This occurred when we restored a server after virus issue. Also I noticed that I left one of these word documents in this "downloading state" and the next morning when I opened my station the document was open... therefore it seems to just be taking
WAY too long to open.Is this SharePoint a stand alone server, where web and database are in the same box ?
Do you know what steps changed settings from before virus, then, after virus ? Maybe people left the anti-virus running on
military emergency mode, and it's consuming all server resources.
You might want to check the database files' sizes, WSS_Content mdf and ldf. Is the ldf way too big ? -
Saving an xml file in local machine(urgent)
Hi Techies,
I am creating the xml file from jsp and generation of xml is working fine for me.
Now the query is How can I point out the location of local machine??
Here is my code
String locationAndBackupFileName =request.getParameter("locationAndNameOfBackupFile");
System.out.println("Location"+locationAndBackupFileName);
StringWriter stringOut = new StringWriter();
XMLSerializer serial = new XMLSerializer(stringOut, new OutputFormat("xml", "UTF-8", true));
response.setContentType("application/xml");
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachement; filename="+locationAndBackupFileName);
serial.setOutputCharStream(new FileWriter(locationAndBackupFileName));
serial.serialize(document.getDocumentElement());when I xcute my code I am getting download dialog box, with save option.
But after downloading no data is available.
Can u guys help me to fix this problem
regards,
krishI don't know what you mean by "location of local machine". The response is being sent to a client machine (maybe that's your "local" machine). You have a lot of strange code that looks like it's serializing the XML to various places, but it should be serializing it to the response's output stream if you want it to go to the client.
There is no way for you, on the server, to control where on the client machine the response data will be stored. That is entirely up to the user on the client. And you certainly can't write it to the client without the knowledge and consent of the client. That's just basic network security.
