SharePoint 2013 Promoted Links issue

Hi,
I am encountering an issue in which I need some input. This is a SharePoint 2013 environment and the issue is related to Promoted Links. The issue is that after 60 seconds the title on the promoted links disappear. Checking in developer tools, I notice
that the div tag that houses the title information disappears also. I am attaching the images that depict the behavior. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
We need more investigation for troubleshooting:
Are you using OOB promoted links app in SharePoint 2013?
Is there customization on the issue app? If so, how did you customize it?

Rebecca Tu

  • Sharepoint 2013 online mobile issue.

    Dear all,
When I try to fill out a form in mobile view on the iphone or android phone, the person or group column doesn't work at all.
And when I try to approve a workflow I created with 2010 workflow, the page is just blank.
basically everything is so broken under mobile view, but works under pc view on the phone.
Anyone has any quick fix to this? I really need the mobile view to work properly. I know I can disable the mobile view, but I have to keep it. Thanks.

    Hi  CALIG,
According to your description, my understanding is that the User Profile Service connection returns an error when open the form of a web application using Claim based Authentication in browser.
The issue can be caused by a limitation of InfoPath Form Services not being claims aware. For using InfoPath with claims based authentication , here is a good blog you can refer to:

  • Sharepoint 2013 Document library Issue

    Hi
In sharepoint 2013 Doc lib,I uploaded a document and I can see it was successful, but then I can’t close the window, or get back to the customer documents unless I “control/alt/delete” and close all IE windows & re-log in. Now, 4 minutes later it
    still shows a spinning circle.
    Regards,
    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,
I wonder if there is workflow or event receiver associated to this document library. Please also check ULS log for related error message.
Or you can create a new document library and then upload document, then check if the issue still exists.
If the issue still exists, I suggest you provide the screenshot or more information for further research.

    Mani L

    Hi Mani,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use Document conversion features to convert documents with images to HTML page in SharePoint 2013.
There is not an OOB way to achieve it. You can use Word to publish to a SharePoint blog which automatically uploads any images in the document. Then, you copy the html markup from the blog post and paste it into a wiki page.
In addition, for this issue, you can also use a tird party tool to achieve, like the below:
    http://www.kaboodlekonnect.com/colin/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=19
Here are some similar posts for you to take a look at:

  • Sharepoint 2013 email address issue

    Hello,
I receive the following error when I create Alert for a ask on sharepoint 2013. While there is email attached to the profile on Active Directory.
"You do not have an e-mail address.
Alert has been created successfully but you will not receive notifications until valid e-mail or mobile address has been provided in your profile."
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got an issue when using alert in SharePoint.
The is caused by the email address it is not updated to the user profile.
To fix the issue, please sync up the user profile. The solution can be found from:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/paulpaa/archive/2009/10/01/user-profile-information-not-updated-on-site-collection-s-people-and-group.aspx
You can also double check the steps while creating the user profile service, there is an article for your reference.
    http://sharepointgeorge.com/2010/configuring-the-user-profile-service-in-sharepoint-2010/
Make sure the App pool accounts having the right permission.
What’s more, you can also check the ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
There is a similar thread for your reference.

    Hi,
We are developing custom workflow in our sharepoint 2013 project using Visual studio 2013. We have got one issue while list item updation in custom workflow.
'Modified By' field is changed to System Account while updating item. It  is not done with elevated privilege or not with user token.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Nithya,
You can try powershell to change the Modified by -
    http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/projectserver/Update-SharePoint-list-4e6272ab
or before your update method get the user and update the modified by like the below-
    Item["Editor"] = User;
    Item.Update();
Alternatively try using listItem.SystemUpdate for not updating modified by values -

  • SharePoint 2013 Canonical Links Adding Port Numbers???

I love the new SEO features of SharePoint 2013.  But I am experiencing a major problem with the canonical href that SharePoint 2013 SEO Optimization features automatically renders:
    <
    link
    rel="canonical"
    href="http://www.mysite.com:80/"
    />
It is appending the URL with the port number.  I haven't been able to figure out a way to either configure this to not use the port number or to remove it all together without removing the rest of the SEO Optimization features.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?
    Thank you!!!
    Robyn

    Hi Robyn,
    In Central Admin , Application Mgmt-->Manage Web Applications, link what does the URL show as;
    http://www.mysite.com:80 or http://www.mysite.com
Usually when we create web application, the URL section shows port number and for default ports 80 (and 443) we can exclude the port number from the URL during web application creation, so that in Central Admin , Application Mgmt-->Manage Web Applications,
URL will be shown without port number.
If in Central Admin URl is showing with Port number still you can manage through "Alternate Access Mapping" for default zone and take off the port number.

  • SharePoint 2013 Published links to Office client applications - Registry key for MySite is missing on client

    Hello,
how is the Registry Key HKCU\Software\AppDataLow\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Portal
for "PersonalSiteURL" supposed to be set in SharePoint 2013 / Office 2013?
Or is there another way to tell the Office Clients where to look for the user profile / published links? In SharePoint 2007 there was a button "Set as default MySite" which creates the Registry key as far as I know.
How is Office 2013 supposed to get this Information?
Any kind of help will be appreciated.

    Hi Dennis ,
    Thank you for your posting!
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to get the Published links using  Office 2013 on client.
Yes, you can get the Published links using Office 2013 on client. For achieving your demand, you need to have the 15.0/Common/Portal registry key setup with a PersonalSiteURL defined . For detailed information,
you can refer to the article and note that everything is 15 instead of 12 now:

According to your post, my understanding is that you could not add apps on other web application.
I recommend to create an empty-host header Web Application.
Here is a great blog for your reference: Configure an Environment for Apps for SharePoint 2013
In addition, you can create App Catalog and run PowerShell commond to fix the issue.

    SharePoint
2013 - You receive "Sorry, apps are turned off. If you know who runs the server, tell them to enable apps" when trying to add Apps on Host Header site collection

    Hi Mani,
Based on the error message, it is an authentication issue.
I recommend to set the authentication for SharePoint to be NTLM, and Exchange web services as NTML as well to see if the issue still occurs.
    Best regards.
    Thanks
