SharePoint App Top Navigation doesn't match new Office 365 Top Navigation

I am developing a SharePoint App for Office 365/SharePoint online and have noticed that my SharePoint App (created via Visual Studio) has a different top navigation than the host site, as SharePoint/Office 365 has a new top navigation. How can I get my SharePoint
App to match the new Navigation in use everywhere else? Images are as follows:

Hi,
Per my understanding, you might want to display the same suite bar in both SharePoint site and App.
After the last update of Office 365, the style of the suite bar is different between SharePoint site and App, as well as the HTML structure:
SharePoint site:
App:
As a workaround, I would suggest you create custom “suite bar” with client site technology to replace the default suite bar in App.
Thanks

  • Add new Office 365 to Azure after removing existing Office 365

    Hi All,
A little convoluted, but I am struggling here.
    First, some history.
I created an initial Office 365 account (via Telstra).  The tenant domain for this is initialO365.onmicrosoft.com.  I added a custom domain my-domain.com.
Sometime later, I created an Azure Subscription.  Access to the Azure subscription was via my Microsoft Account.
Via support, I had the Office 365 my-domain.com associated with (I guess, via the Active Directory Directory) the Azure Subscription.
The end result was that I was able to logon to both Office 365 and Azure via the my-domain.com domain.
    All was well.
    Recently...
Due to some limitations with Office 365 via Telstra, I signed up for a new Office 365 account directly with Microsoft.  The tenant for this domain is newO365.onmicrosoft.com.
I manually migrated the mailboxes between Office 365 accounts, and I also moved the domain from the old Office 365 to the new Office 365.
In terms of the new Office 365, all is well.  I can logon via my-domain.com without issue.
What I now want to do is remove the association of the old Office 365 account from Azure, and add the new Office 365 account.
The end result will be that the old Office 365 account (initialO365.onmicrosoft.com) is cancelled and deleted, and I am then able to logon to Azure and the new Office 365 via my-domain.com.
I simply cannot get this to happen
I've tried to just add the my-domain.com domain to the existing directory in Azure (I've added the TXT record to the domain) but when I verify I get the following error:
Could not verify this domain because it was previously configured for your tenant or for another tenant.
I think I need to add a new Directory linked to the Office 365 tenant, but I am unable to do this (anytime I go to add a new Directory, I DO NOT get the option to select an existing one).
I do have a current support ticket, but it's taken over a week now and I'm not really getting far - I don't believe that they understand what I want to do.
My previous experience with getting this done lead me to believe that this was a simple-ish type of exercise, but I am stuck.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Brendan,
    Thanks for posting here!
    1. My-domain.com is still associated with initialO365.omicrosoft.com. You would like to add this domain with with newO365.onmicrosoft.com.
A1: First logon to old tenant "initialO365.onmicrosoft.com" and remove any association for "my-domain.com" from any objects (users/groups/applications) and then remove the domain "my-domain.com" from the directory. Once you
remove it, you will be allowed to add it back to the second tenant "newO365.onmicrosoft.com" after verifying the same using a TXT entry.
    2. You would like to link the Azure Subscription to the new AAD tenant newO365.onmicrosoft.com
A2: First add the MSA to Newo365.onmicrosoft.com as a Global Admin (GA). Then under Settings on Azure Management Portal, click edit directory and select the new directory to link the Azure subscription to. Add GA for newo365.onmicrosoft.com as a co-admin
on the Subscription before they attempt to login.
    Hope this answers your query.
    Best Regards,
    Sadiqh

  • NBN doesn't work with Office 365

Anyone else having problems with accessing Office 365 on the NBN?  Trying to work out if it's specific to the NBN Fiber to the Basement trial we're on or a broader issue - and getting run in circles by Telstra.  Spent hours on the phone today just getting passed to the next department! Here's the issue. NBN connection works fine - nice and fast, no problem. BUT we have regular problems where we can;t access outlook.office365.com (our hosted exchange via Office 365) - either through Outlook desktop or Ouytlook Web Access.  Everything else still works at that time, just not email.  We can even get to the SharePoint sites in the same O365 tenant - it just appears to be a problem with traffic getting blocked to the Exchange server, If we swich back to the old ADSL service - everything works (just much slower). If we take a laptop to another network (Optus / Telstra Cable or hot spotting via a mobile phone) - everything works. So quite specifically this is an issue with the NBN network.  Either the NBN modem, or the network itself.  We've tried switching the modem, didn't help.  To be clear - it does work SOMETIMES, but here it worked mostly before with occassional problems, now it mostly FAILS and only occassionally works.  It ALWAYS works on other networks so it is not a problem with the client devices, or the Office 365 accounts.  It's not a problem with the switches or cabling in the office because it works on the old ADSL.  The only thing it doesn;t work on is the NBN. We've tried the Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) - didn't help. Anyone else experienced this?  I'm thinking now it might be a configuration on the DSLAM in the basement?  Or the Telstra Broadband Remote Access Server - but trying to find somoene in Telstra to actually discuss this with me and get some help is proving impossible. Thanks

I not a Telstra employee, but I have a tech background, but not in internet protocols. You may consider ringing. Microsoft possibly ???  who  may ???     be using some access protocol that NBN will not access ???????? There are some extremely highly specialist and qualified  technical IT folk in some specific forums, just for example,  Whirlpool.     who actually are employed in that area of IT. You may want to search if anyone else has experienced this.  The more I think about this, the more I think Microsoft may be your best port of call ???

  • Having trouble removing a student email account from the Windows Mail App because the school has started using office 365 for thier email which i dont have access to

I was wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to remove a gmail account that was set up by a community college for use on their mail servers and then find out that after awhile they have locked you out because they have started using office 365 for their
emails and you are left with a student email account that you have no idea how to delete because you have missied out on deleting it before they changed to a different email provider?
Anybody with ideas please help because I don't know what to do

    Hi,
Regarding to Windows Mail App, do you mean the Modern UI App in Windows 8.1? Do you mean that you want to remove the email account from Mial App? Generally, we can simply remove the account by the "Account" option in Mail App (Open Mail App, move
the mouse the right chram bar, click Account, then click the mail account\Remove account), but if the email acocunt is tied with the Microsoft Account which is used on the pc, in that case, it is unavailable to remove the email account, you need to contact
your college to disconnect the Microsoft Account.
If I'm misunderstanding something, please free correct me.

  • App Store ID doesn't match user in preferences (new setup)

Hi I used my boyfriends mac book pro to back up my phone. When I set up newly purchased I pad up I used the backup for my phone on his laptop. All my apps reappeared but some need updating and it's asking for his password as his user ID appears on App Store page but not in preferences for actual I pad device. ( I tunes account preferences in settings on I pad.
Of course it happened with phone but was able to reset by logging out and signing back in its not working with the I pad. Any ideas?
    Many thanks
There is a crossing in accounts between I tunes preference and App Store. His show up in App Store

You need to delete those applications and redownload or resync copies associated with your Apple ID. This is stored inside the application and is independent of the preference setting.

  • After Transfer of data to a new comp., old admin name doesn't match new adm

I'm having issues with Word for Mac since I installed Fusion. I am trying to uninstall Word for Mac but I get the message: "You do not have permission. Log into the same Mac OS user Acct that you used to Install office and try again".
I recently bought a new MacPro to replace my G5 and had the Apple store transfer data from my old mac to my new one.
Apparently I used a different variation of my name on my old G5 when I installed Word for Mac than I did on my new mac, and the old name transfer with the date. But I have no idea how to log into the old account, or how to make an account for the old name not knowing the old name.
any suggestions, or work arounds for uninstalling Word for Mac?
The problem with Word,is that the menu and tool bar comes up, but I can't open any documents.

  • Office 365 Reseller - Provision of new Office 365 business using API's?

    Hi,
I couldn't work out which category to put this into. We have built our own provisioning and billing portal which is currently used to provision phone services. We currently resell hosted exchange and are looking to resell Office 365. Are there any API's
available for Office 365 for the creation, management, deletion of businesses and users within that business. We want all of the functionality of the office 365 partner and admin portal but we want all tasks to be completed within our own provisioning portal
using API calls to the office 365 admin tools?
For example, you can purchase office 365 from the godaddy website, we want to be able to do that.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Could anyone advise on this matter ?
    Thanks,
    Kind regards.

  • LMI doesn't work with Office 365 and Azure AD credentials

This is my setup: Windows 10 ProOffice 365 userPC is joined to Azure AD So, with the above scenario, you actually login to the computer with your Office 365 credentials, which is an email address and password. Typically with LMI you would login with a local user account or an on premise Windows AD domain account.  But Windows 10 lets you login with your Azure AD (cloud) / Office 365 credentials, which is what we are using.

I'm trying to import a search configuration XML using a SharePoint App.
    I have check the following:
     - The XML is correct. I can upload it manually.
     - The code works using a console app, but not using the SharePoint app.
    Following code:
    SearchConfigurationPortability searchConfig = new SearchConfigurationPortability(this.Context);
    SearchObjectOwner owner = new SearchObjectOwner(this.Context, SearchObjectLevel.SPWeb);
    searchConfig.ImportSearchConfiguration(owner, configurationLocation);

    this.Context.ExecuteQuery();
    Following error message:
        ServerException was caught
The server was unable to process the request due to an internal error.
For more information about the error, either turn on IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults
(either from ServiceBehaviorAttribute or from the <serviceDebug> configuration behavior)
on the server in order to send the exception information back to the client, or turn on
tracing as per the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK documentation and inspect the server
        trace logs.
    Thanks!

I'm deploying the app to a SharePoint dev environment in the cloud so I can't see the ULS Logs, unfortunately. The link you suggested states that "managed properties aren’t supported in this deployment model" and this is exactly what I'm trying to provision.
Any other ideas why the above code fails, although stated exactly on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn205276(v=office.15).aspx?

  • Office 365 vs Google Apps?

I wanted to share a recent guest post by the CEO of Champion Solutions Group on behalf of Sanjeevini Mittal on how customers find Office 365 vs Google Apps. What is your experience?
    Today’s
guest blogger is Chris Pyle, president and CEO of Champion Solutions Group, an award-winning Microsoft Gold partner that helps
small and medium enterprises develop cloud strategies and deploy cloud solutions. Founded in 1979, Champion has 22 offices in 11 states and is the parent company for MessageOps, which focuses exclusively on helping customers move seamlessly to the Microsoft
Cloud. The two companies have helped hundreds of customers migrate to Office 365.
At Champion Solutions Group, we focus on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that range from about 250 to 2500 seats. We have helped hundreds of business, education and government customers migrate a total of about 700,000 seats to Office 365. As part of our
work, we have helped many customers migrate to Office 365 from Google Apps, including several who previously had left Microsoft for Google.
In working with our customers, we focus on operational efficiencies, making sure the organizations that adopt the Office 365 platform really make the most of it. Just because you migrate to Office 365 doesn’t mean you’re done. That’s Day One. There’s still
Day Two (how you set everything up) and Day Three (how you collaborate and leverage the power of Office 365). We help our customers with all three stages.
Why customers choose Office 365 over Google Apps:  For organizations that switch from Google Apps to Office 365, the number one reason is that they find Office 365 is easier to use
and offers greater productivity than Google Apps. Because it is enterprise-grade and much more business-focused than anything Google can offer, customers also say that Office 365 is more robust than Google Apps.
As an example, one of our customers is a large grocery chain on the East Coast, with more than 10,000 users in many different locations. When the company decided to abandon Google Apps and adopt Office 365, the top two reasons were the usability and robustness
of Office 365. In fact, one of the main reasons the company finally decided to switch to Office 365 was that employees complained so much about Google Apps. They said it was very cumbersome and didn’t work for them. They just didn’t find Google Apps as productive
    as Office 365.
Choice is another important factor for many organizations when they are considering different cloud solutions. When we ask our customers why they choose Microsoft over Google Apps, many say that having a choice of cloud, on-premise or hybrid solutions gives
them the flexibility to meet their business needs. With Google, the cloud is the only option. Customers like having a productivity solution they can tailor to their business.
Office 365 is more cost-effective than Google Apps:  There’s an immediate cost benefit to customers who choose a cloud solution. They save money on the initial capital outlay, and they
can convert those savings to operational investments, but the cost-effectiveness of any solution is about more than the initial price tag.
When customers are choosing a cloud solution, they ask questions about productivity, security, and how well it works. Microsoft provides positive answers to all of those questions. In our experience, the productivity suite that Microsoft delivers with Office
365, compared to Google Apps, makes it the “right way” for most organizations.  Over the long term, Office 365 is often the most cost-effective choice.
The bottom line:  What we offer our customers when we help them migrate to Office 365 is a way to transform how they work, to innovate, and to come up with better ways to make a difference
to their customers. Once our customers begin to understand and use the full capabilities of Office 365, they report a significant increase in productivity,
with their employees doing a tremendous amount of work from almost any location, on any of their devices, and being much more collaborative.

I am grandfathered into a Google Apps account with 50 seats. I also pay for a 5 user seat Office 365 account. My personal domains are on Google Apps and my business domains are on Office 365. How both services are great, I prefer Office 365 to Google Apps
any day of the week. Now, I am a huge Google user. But my eco-system is so Microsoft heavy, I will stick with Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1 OS's for now. But that is not the only reason. Google Apps is simple. That is what makes Google Apps so strong is
that it is simple to use. Office 365 is robust. That is what makes Office 365 so strong is that it is robust. Now, the major difference. Office 365 is a little harder to use and set up than Google Apps is. A small company of 5 users may benefit with Google
Apps if they do not have an IT department. With Office 365, if you have 20 users, I will suggest some kind of geek working there to handle some of the IT because Office 365 is a little too robust. For me, my business, I like robust. I prefer the features of
Office 365 over Google Apps. I like the control I have over Office 365. Google Apps does not give you control, it is straight forward. For some companies, Google Apps may be great for them. For large large enterprises, they may want to consider Office 365.
Though, there are a lot of large enterprises settling with Google Apps. Either way, it all depends on the needs of the company. Both services are good. I just prefer Office 365 and my opinions are just as valid as someone who prefers Google Apps.

  • Office 365 online Sharepoint (Business Premium) - pre-build intranet site that can be installed

    Hello,
Is their any possibility to setup in the new Office 365 online a SharePoint with a pre-build intranet website?
Those options exists in many intranet systems. Example: in Bitrix24 their is possebility to start with a theme for intranet site. The basic theme includes: Several internal departments (Management, IT, Sales, HR ect), tasks by deparment, users groups (by
department) with permissions for each departments, news feed by department ect.
Is their any pre-build option with a simple intranet configuration?
Sometimes it is much easier to configure when using a common simple company structures.
    Thank you

    Hi,
For SharePoint Online backup and restore, there are basically 4 options:
Use the recycle bin and version history.
Use a 3rd party tool for backup and restore (there are several).
Manually backup sites, lists, and libraries (see:
Information about manual migration of SharePoint Online content and
How to back-up an Office 365 SharePoint Online site and data)
Create an Office 365 support request (see:
    Restore options in SharePoint Online)
For more information, you can have a look at the blog:

  • Not able to debug Provider Hosted App in local (Deployed in Azure and Hosted in Office 365)

I have Provider Hosted App - Deployed in Azure and Hosted in Office 365.
Deployed successfully on azure after attaching publishing profile of azure.
Now I wish to debug app in local?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to debug SharePoint provider hosted app in local.
Per the previous thread, to debug SharePoint provider hosted app in local, we should configure S2S authentication.
You can follow the article below to build the high trust app, then you can debug the app locally.

  • Brand/ Remove Office 365 Login Page for SharePoint Online

    Hi  there,
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thank you very much for setting up this great forum. I have learned a lot of good tips from here.
We have a challenge which we would like to find a solution to.
We are using Project Online with SharePoint Online with Office 365.
We are trying to find a solution to brand/ (if branding is not possible) get rid of the Office 365 log in page.
What we are trying to achieve is:
    1. Users click on a link, say:
    https://abc.sharepoint.com/project1/
    2. Instead of seeing Office 365 login page, we would like them to be able to see the login page with our own brand or a login box to enter username and password.
Thank you very much in advance for the time you set aside to share your knowledge with us.
Sincerely, we really appreciate your kind help.
    Charlotte Tang
    Charlotte Tang

    Hi Charlotte,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to customize the Office 365 login page for SharePoint Online.
We can implement ADFS for the Office 365 subscription, then customize the ADFS forms based on login page.
Per my knowledge, If no ADFS you will need to use the Microsoft login page.
Here are two similar threads for you to take a look at:
