SharePoint document libraries exposing to anonymous users

Hi
I using SharePoint 2010, i need to block anonymous users from viewing a document library contents.
For eg: uploaded the .pdf file in to a document library, and opening it as anonymous  user, and it opens, that fine. But if that user removes the file name and the URL and clicks on enter, it will displays all contents inside that library.
Can anyone help on this how to restrict anonymous users from viewing library contents.

R.K

Hi,
We can use Lockdown feature in SharePoint 2010 to achieve your requirement.

  • Anonymous User forms in Sharepoint 2013 Online

    I'm using Sharepoint 2013 online with Office 365.
    Is there any way for an anonymous user to communicate with the site using forms (preferably Infopath)?
    There are many, many versions of this question on the web. Several lead to
    http://claytoncobb.wordpress.com/2011/06/03/infopath-allowing-anonymous-users-to-submit-forms-in-sharepoint-2010/, but this is about Sharepoint 2010, not 2013. Other answers talk about features that are not in Sharepoint online 2013, such as Application
    Management in Central Administration. There is also a Sandbox solution from CodePlex that gets touted,
    https://anonymous365.codeplex.com/, but this fails in Sharepoint Online 2013.
    The only feature I can find is the Excel Survey in Form Templates. This is at least a start, but what I really want is the ability for an anonymous user (a customer) to submit information into a Custom List using a form; or, second best, in an email (WITHOUT
    having to have Infopath Filler installed). Seems a pretty basic need, really - letting your customers place orders. This is all do-able for a fully-subscribed user of the intranet site, but I can't afford to buy individual subscriptions for all my customers.
    Nor do I want them seeing each other's data, or accessing my intranet!
    I have spent so long researching this and getting nowhere, and really need to know if it's just a straight 'no, it's impossible', or keep trying.
    Thanks

    Yes, I am using the public site. But unless I'm missing something, Custom Lists (and associated forms) cannot be exposed to anonymous users. They are just not in the permissions list.
    I can create a page in the public site and add a Form Templates web part. The options I then get for creating a new form in the Form Templates library are Word Document, Excel Workbook, Powerpoint Presentation, One Note Notebook or Excel Survey. An
    InfoPath form is not an option. None of these (as far as I can see) allow for any data entered in the 'form' by a user to be stored in a Custom List for further processing. Most require the user to have Word/Excel/whatever on their machine, rather than
    just use the browser. The nearest you get is the Excel Survey, which at least regularises the data entered by an anonymous user into columns in a spreadsheet, but this is not sophisticated enough for, say, an online ordering system in which you would not want
    customers seeing each other's orders.

  • Anonymous user emails in CSC

    Does anybody ever sent guest emails through CSC? Looks like OOTB implementation needs to have a authenticated user for sending emails. I tried sending emails to anonymous user , but server is redirecting the request to other page thant he template URL specified. I am getting 302 (Temporarily moved), since my template URL is specified under the DCS-CSR context, which needs an authenticated profile to access the resources under that. Does anyone know in which servelt in the daf pipeline the context path is configured. The component which has the context in CSC is CSRConfigurator, but just wondering in which servlet it is been implemented. Any help or pointers would be appreciated

  • Move/copy between document libraries

  • How to update a document libraries metadata column in workflow

    Hi,
    My scenario:
    2 document libraries A and B
    user uploads document to A
    SPD workflow executes on A
    SPD workflow copies the document to B with whatever common metadata and managed metadata is contained within both libraries, no problem here.
    The problem lies here:
    Within the workflow logic, I basically check a column value in current item, use some if else logic and this determines the distinct column value in B for where the document has just been copied.
    The issue here is that yes this works when you are dealing with doc libraries within the same site, but there seems to be no solution on how this is possible when the doc libraries exists in different sites. Please note the sites do reside under the same
    site collection.
    This seems to be a huge over site in sharepoint designer, and I even have harepoint workflow extensions and this doesn't appear to resolve my problem either. Why it doesn't work between different sites is rather bewildering.
    Thanks for you help in advance,
    Kurt

    For this case you'll need a custom workflow activity which you'll have to buy or create using visual studio

  • How to show sharepoint documents in salesforce ?

    How to show sharepoint documents in salesforce ?
    I should also be able to upload documents from salesforce directly to sharepoint document library/list if the users attach a document for a record in salesforce.   Any idea how to achieve this?
    What are the things need to be done if my sharepoint is available in intranet Or if it is SharePoint Online , how can we link this to salesforce (as Salesforce is global and can be accessed from anywhere). What are the security measures that I need to look
    at and how to achieve this?
    Ex:- I have a record in salesforce account object. I have to attach a document for that record which should be directly uploaded to sharepoint and shouldn't exist in salesforce, but it should display the listview to the users once its uploaded to sharepoint
    and they should see them as if they exist inside salesforce, once they click on the link in the listview of the relatedlist, it should open the document from sharepoint.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to show SharePoint documents in salesforce.
    You need to integrate SharePoint with Salesforce.
    Nick Swan
    has written an article on how to integrate Salesforce and SharePoint 2007 through the Business Data Catalog.
    But it might be useful as the theory is the same for using SharePoint 2010 and the Business Connectivity Services:
    Salesforce and SharePoint
    Outside of that, there are some useful third-party products you can have a look at.

  • How to find list or folder name from SharePoint document URL

    I'm implementing the SharePoint client object model in my VSTO application in .NET framework 4.0(C#).
    Actually we open MS Word files from SharePoint site, we need to create a folder inside the opened documents list/folder and after it we want to upload/add some files to that created folder.
    My problem is that how to get list name/title and folder name of opened document by using the documents URL or Is there an another option to find the list or folder name of opened document.
    Any help will be appreciable.

    In document Library you can get the name of document library directly in URL. for folder name you can try below:
    using System;
    using Microsoft.SharePoint;
    namespace Test
    class ConsoleApp
    static void Main(string[] args)
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://localhost"))
    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
    if (web.DoesUserHavePermissions(SPBasePermissions.BrowseDirectories))
    // Get a folder by server-relative URL.
    string url = web.ServerRelativeUrl + "/shared documents/test folder";
    SPFolder folder = web.GetFolder(url);
    try
    // Get the folder's Guid.
    Guid id = folder.UniqueId;
    Console.WriteLine(id);
    // Get a folder by Guid.
    folder = web.GetFolder(id);
    url = folder.ServerRelativeUrl;
    Console.WriteLine(url);
    catch (System.IO.FileNotFoundException ex)
    Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);

  • How to use search REST api to get custom managed property data for anonymous user?

    I am trying build a public portal with anonymous access and i am trying to read some
    content from custom managed property using search REST api in sharepoint 2013. I have tried to enable all possible attributes of the managed prop. Like searchable,queryable,safe etc. also i am including queryparametertemplate in my REST api search query. But
    still i am not able to retrieve the managed prop. For an anonymous user. The same query returns the value if i am logged in.
    Any Help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh
    Thanks, Rakesh

    Hi Rakesh,
    To enable anonymous Search REST queries, we need to create queryparametertemplate.xml and upload it to the correct library in SharePoint.
    From your description I can know that you have created the file, then I recommend to check the things below:
    Please use “QueryTemplatePropertiesUrl” instead of “queryparametertemplate” in the Search REST API query as following: &QueryTemplatePropertiesUrl='spfile://webroot/queryparametertemplate.xml'.
    Make sure that the Query Properties you need have been added to the QueryProperties element in the queryparametertemplate.xml file.
    Make sure that the query parameters you need have been added to the WhiteList element in the
    queryparametertemplate.xml file. For example, if you want to use Refiners in the REST API, then the Refiners should be added to the
    WhiteList element in the queryparametertemplate.xml file as following:
    <a:string>Refiners</a:string>.
    You can also debug setting properties in anonymous Search Rest queries following the link below:

  • How do I combine a number of document libraries into one heading?

    Please can anyone help me. I have a number of SharePoint Document Libraries which I want to move to one area (each document library is a project and when the project closes I want to be able to show this under one view 'Closed Projects').  HOw can I
    do this?
    Currently, on the Navigation pane on the left hand side of the screen we have a heading 'Closed Projects' and all the document libraries sit under that heading but this takes up a lot of room and as we could end up with hundreds of closed projects, I'd like
    to just keep the heading 'Closed Projects' and then when you click on that heading it takes you into a page which shows all the closed projects (preferably sorted in some way by name or date closed) document libraries.  Is this possible & how?
    We are using SharePoint 2007.
    Thanks

    Hi KeoKira,
    What you might be able to do is set up and maintain a separate list of projects, with a choice column indicating whether the project is open or closed, and a hyperlink column linking to the relevant document library.
    Then for your closed projects page, you can just link to a list view of the projects list that is filtered to only show links to closed projects.

  • Users are unable to synchronize document libraries with OneDrive for Business

    Hello,
    We are having an issue with our users attempting to synchronize document libraries with OneDrive for Business. When a user tried to synchronize the document library either via the "SYNC" button on the document library page using IE or by
    manually entering the document libraries path into the OneDrive for Business desktop app they receive the following error
    "We can't connect to the specified SharePoint site". The users have the Edit permission to both the site and the document library. I have performed the following actions in attempt to get the synchronization to work.
    1. Tested giving user the owner permission to the site and document library. same result.
    2. Performed a repair on the users Office 2013 installation.
    An interesting point to note is that I myself am able to synchronize the document libraries using both the "SYNC" button on the document library site and by entering the path manually in the desktop app. Difference between my account and the test
    accounts is that I'm a site collection administrator and farm administrator. Can anyone shed some light onto this issue?

    Hi Corey,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the users cannot sync document libraries with OneDrive for Business.
    I recommend to check the Permission Level to see if the Use Client Integration Features permission is selected.
    If not, check this permission in the corresponding permission level which is granted to the users.
    Please also check if the users have the right permission to sync the document library with OneDrive for Business.

  • SharePoint 2013 - random authentication issue where users are suddenly anonymous

    Hi,
    I've banged my head for too long now on this issue, so I'm hoping anyone here can shed some light on it. We're running on April 2013 CU but the problem has existed since RTM.
    The issue is that some users (all of this random) can't access the site ("An error has occurred") and get an error page. The Web App is configured with Claims (NTLM and FBA Membership/Role Provider). No custom login page and configuration
    for the web.configs is verified. It works 99% of the times, but occasionally a user gets an error and I have to restart the Distributed Cache to fix it.
    1 WFE & 1 APP with SP2013 April 2013 CU with a few web apps. There's also a WAC server connected, but that shouldn't make a difference. The Distributed Cache runs only on the WFE:
    PS C:\> Use-CacheCluster
    PS C:\> Get-CacheHost
    HostName : CachePort Service Name Service Status Version Info
    WFE.domain.local:22233 AppFabricCachingService UP 3 [3,3][1,3]
    There's sufficient RAM to avoid the Distributed Cache to force purge data.
    The logs seem to indicate that the user is seen as anonymous:

    I'm figuring the Distributed Cache gets confused about the authentication tokens and starts handing out the wrong token to some users ? If I leave the Distributed Cache disabled it seems to permanently fix the issue, but that's not an ideal scenario.
    All help is appreciated!

    please read about logon token cache section in
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/besidethepoint/archive/2013/03/27/appfabric-caching-and-sharepoint-1.aspx ;
    And when anonymous authentication is enabled for a web application zone that use windows integrated authentication, SharePoint use WSS_Keepsessionauthenticated cookie to prevent reverting to anonymous. Also check the browser handling of this session cookie.
    also, analyze the error logs in WSS_Logging database if the logging is turned on:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/8ba7b6e9-0b5d-4c4b-bd66-d2c72bb538b3/web-analytics-for-specific-pages-somehow-with-2010-unique-visitors#06b4fdd9-1d24-445c-bddc-db9cac1135e0 . The data volume can be large, so, don't do this in
    a production environment, you can backup the WSS_logging database and analyze it elsewhere.

  • Problem opening documents from SharePoint (2013) libraries with Office 2010 and 2013 components installed

    Hi
    I've been encountering the problem of Office files failing to open from SharePoint 2013 libraries with the prefix of 'ms-excel:ofv|u|' etc. in the url. Following the
    helpful questions and answers in the forum, I've identified the likely cause as the fact that my main Office installation is 2010, but I also have installed OneDrive for Business 2013 (which I need in order to sync document libraries with my local drive).
    The solution I've seen suggested elsewhere of deactivating the SharePoint integration of Office 2013 components fails for two reasons: there is no way (or at least, I can't find one) of deactivating SharePoint integration probably because, deactivating
    SharePoint integration would likely stop the syncing of libraries/folders.
    One thing that I have noticed in my case that I've not seen mentioned elsewhere is that if I right-click a document and select 'open in new tab/window' the required
    document opens directly in the relevant office package. I don't know if this is a useful observation, but it seems to be new information.
    My question is, is there a way I can continue to sync libraries and open Office documents directly in Office 2010? My thoughts are possible changes to registry settings
    (which I can do, but don't know enough to find the correct ones myself) or (re)installation of software in some appropriate order to leave the correct settings.
    I have 'repaired' my Office 2010 installation without any observed affect on behavior.
    Thanks
    Ray
    (I've just seen a suggestion that Office 2010 SP2 may fix this issue. I've requested to test this, but whilst this may fix my problem, rolling it out to
    other users may be more problematic. In the meantime, other suggestions of solutions are welcome)

    Hi,
    According to your description, it is a good way to do a test about office 2010 SP2, here is an article about this issue- limitations of using the OneDrive for Business sync app with Office 2010 applications , it may help you.

  • Sharepoint -Creating document libraries at run time and add and delete permission at runtime--taking too much time in C#(SOM)

    Hi,
    I am creating a batch job in C# and my requirement is as follows.
    My Requirement is to create multiple document libraries and after breaking inheritance  I remove all the groups which that library inherits and add some groups which are created for that library.Initially when libraries are less the creation
    of library is good but once it gets increased ,system takes lot of time.I will have to create around 2000 libraries and almost 600-700 groups.
    Q.1 ) What would be my approach?
    Q.2) Do we have powershell command which can break inheritance and delete all the default groups in a one go (without looping) of a library?
    Please suggests.

    Hi,
    It is recommended to create timer job for the time consuming job when in SharePoint environment.

  • Configure Drop off library with no permission for users on target document libraries

    I have configured content organizer feature and created 3 rules with 3 target document libraries.
    Users have only permission on drop off document library.
    When they upload, document is moved to target doc lib, but pop-ups message saying you do not have access to view.
    Is there a way to stop that message from showing?
    We do not want to give permission for users on target libraries.
    Thanks,
    Abhilash

    As per my knowledge, you cannot supress this message
    However, you can create a redirection script on Upload.aspx page which will redirect users to home page once document uploaded.
    Here is an example of same:

  • Valid users can see a site, but not the document libraries they have permissions for

    Hello everybody,
    at a customer's site, there is SharePoint Foundation 2013 SP1 running, bound to both http and https. Seeminlgy out of nothing, a strange behavior occurred: Visting
    http://intranet/subsite showed the page headers (logo, global navigation etc.), but no content. The welcome text was missing as well as the links to the document libraries which should appear in the left navigation.
    After explicitely adding http://intranet as an alternate name (https://intranet was active only, don't know why), we can again reach content via http. Still strange appears, that
    http://intranet global navigation links get redirected to https (fine, but unexpected). If we change a deep link to a document library from https to http in the browser's address bar, we can reach the content fine.
    However, one problem still exists: This site gets published via TMG 2010 via https, and that also worked just fine for many months. But now, I can try what I want in TMG, valid authenticated users see only the top navigation, but no content at all.
    Can anyone give me a hint about what to check? Of course, I will provide any info you may need.
    Best Regards, Stefan Falk

    Hello Daniel,
    Thank you for your response. As to your questions:
    I just added http://intranet to the alternate access mappings of the intranet zone and did not extend a website.
    Besides SharePoint Central Administration, there is no other SharePoint web site collection on this server, and no other non-SharePoint-IIS-Site. This is a VM for nothing else than hosting this single intranet site collection.
    We do see the same issue under two sub-websites underneath
    http://intranet, namely http://intranet/Datenaustausch and
    http://intranet/Protokolle. In both sub-sites, there is some welcome text on the home page and there are several document libraries, each with permissions not interited, but explicitely granted to specific users.
    The first (solved) issue was, that we could not see the document libraries when using http, but could see them using https. This was solved by adding the alternate access mapping for
    http://intranet explicitely.
    We can successfully browse the sites (using http and https now) from the internal network. The one issue left is that the same does not work through TMG, that is, coming from the external network, we can see and call up the sites in a browser, but not any
    content in them. We do see the site title and logo, and the global navigation at the top of the page, but we do not see the welcome text, nor the document libraries. This did work last week, and we do not know nor could find, why it stopped working. The issue
    persists regardless of whether we use bridging to https or to http between TMG and SharePoint.
    We have already restarted the SharePoint box, with no success.
    If I can provide any further information needed, I will be glad to do so.
    Best Regards, Stefan Falk
