Sharepoint WFE server not accessible

Below is a SharePoint network diagram in which there are 2 Sharepoint WFE servers (3 and 4). Sharepoint 2013 is installed and farm configured on both the servers, first on Server3 then on Server4. When installing on server4 we have joined it to the existing
Sharepoint farm which is (Server3). When Server3 is switched off the application is down and central administration is not accessible from Server4. If Server4 is switched off and Server3 is switched on, Central administration site of Server3 is accessible.
However both are using the existing SAN DB.
Is it possible for Server4 to work the same way if Server3 is down?

Have you followed the CA high availability guide:

• TS3899 Not able to access gmail thru iPhone. Error message states "mail server not accessible"

Not able to access my Gmail in my iphone. Error message pops up
"...... mail server not responding ........"

Did this used to work or have you just set it up for Gmail access? Did you do it in accordance with: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4810 ?
Are you accessing it via cellular network or WiFi? If WiFi then is this your usual network?
If it has been working fine for some time and now suddenly you get this message having changed nothing then it is most likely a temporary glitch at Google end or your ISP perhaps.

• Website on Mac Mini Server not accessible. Error 403 index document not available.

Dear all,
I'm trying to host a website on my Mac Mini Server. As far as I can see, my DNS is working correctly. Also my firewall is setup correctly. (I'm hosting another website which works OK). But I setup a new site. Basically a copy of the working site. But this site doesn't reflect an index.htm page. I receive an Error 403 with further information that there is no index document or that the site is secured. There is a contact link on this page directing to my webmaster. So I conclude that something is working, but no index.htm page. Has anyone similar experience? And offcourse a solution?
Many thanks.

Launch Terminal.app and issue the commands:
cd /Library/Webserver/Documents/
ls -al
And see if the files are readable by the web server. Here's an example index file listing that's owned by root and with group access for admin folks, and this file is marked as readable and writable for the owner and the group, and is readable for everybody else:
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root admin 5094 Jul 25 2009 index.html
In this configuration, the web server would be using the other access; the web server can read this file, but not write to it. Here is how to duplicate these ownership and access settings on your own index.html file, assuming that you have that file present in the ls listing above, and assuming that you have issued the cd (change default directory) command shown above:
sudo chown root:admin index.html
sudo chmod ug=rw,o=r index.html
You will need to enter your administrative password for the sudo command.
I would very strongly suggest that you start learning some basics of bash and of Apache, because you're going to be needing those skills very soon.

I'm facing a series of issues with Oracle reports server 11g. I'l list the issues one by one.
1. I'm not able to start the weblogic server from the domain which i've created for Reports. It gives me authentication error. I've tried clearing tmp directory, clearing temp directory and creating a boot.properties in the security folder. But nothin seems to work.
2. I'm not able to start the report server from the instance path C:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1\bin\opmnctl.bat. The contents of opmnctl.bat is as follows

when i run this from cmd i get all the components as alive but i'm not able to access the reports path with the url. (http://domainname:7003/console or /em).
this says connection refused.
3. When i try to access the url http://domainname:8888/reports/rwservlet gives me apache bridge error. I've been trying all the things given in google for the past 1 week but still its not working.

For some reason (very like due to how it has been configured), the s/w attempts to use a NFS share - and uses the TCP wire protocol. This NFS share is not mounted or not available.
Check the NFS server (it needs to be up and exporting that share), there has to be network connectivity between the report server and the NFS server, and the report server needs to have the required config and access permissions for mounting that NFS share.

• Site not accessible from the Load balanced web front end server - sharepoint 2010

I have a production environment with 2 WFE's(sp-wfe1 & sp-wfe2), 2 APP's and 2 SQL clustered VM's.
2 WFE's are load balanced using hardware load balancer.
An A-Record(PORTAL) is created in DNS for the virtual IP of the load balancer which points to the 2 WFE's.
A web application is created on the WFE's on port 80.
alternative access mapping is configured and the load balanced record "http://PORTAL" is used under the default zone.
Under IIS I have edited the bindings for the sharepoint site at port 80 and added the HOSTNAME as PORTAL.
Result: The site is accessible from outside the server and works fine.
ISSUE: The site is not accessible within the WFE's(sp-wfe1 & sp-wfe2).
When I browse the site from the WFE's server it ask for the credentials and when I enter the credentials and click OK it ask the credentials again and again and in the end displays a blank page.
Kindly help me in this issue because I am clueless and couldn't find anything helpful on the internet.

• New version of WSP added to farm, only updated on WFE and not on APP server

I have a farm consisting of 1 WFE, 1 APP, and 1 SQL server.
One of my developers (I know I know) needed to update their WSP. They retracted, deleted, and readded and deployed successfully. They ran their workflow, the logs on the APP server were showing traces of the old solution.
We're thinking that it deployed properly to the WFE but not the APP server.
The SharePoint Timer Job was restarted several times, still a problem.
I've checked the ULS logs but nothing is jumping out yet.
Any suggestions on what to check appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,
With timer service and SharePoint Foundation Administrative web service running on the WFE servers, the farm solution will be deployed to the WFE servers which run the two services.
So as APP server does not run the SharePoint Foundation Administrative web service, so the solution cannot be deployed to the APP server.
You are correct, it is not recommended to run the SharePoint Foundation Administrative web service in APP server in case of just running the service applications in the APP server.
So you need to install the solution in APP server separately.
However if the solutions are used for web applications, you can choose to not install the solution in APP server.

The system cannot find the file specified
I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.

It sounds like there are a couple things going on here. First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance. Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error. If you get an error, post the error message your hitting. If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect. If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog. Ex: "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name. However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format. Ex: COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install. Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

• Sharepoint 2013 Server Search Not Working, URGENT!!

Hi thr,
im a current sharepoint 2013 server user and im facing a severe problem with sharepoint now, i cannot search using the search bar
And the Search Service Application keeps giving me this error, 'The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component. Verify that the administration component in search application ‘Search Service Application’
is in a good state and try again. '
I have tried every possible way including creating new search service application, restarting the services , everything i had already tried but its still not working and keep giving me errors
Anyone can help me? its very urgent here, thanks

Can you check out the patch status of the servers? If you've got auto-update on the servers and something for SharePoint has been downloaded and installed, it might need to be configured still. Either the PS Config (as suggested below) or the Set-up wizard
will take care of this
Additionally, the TechNet Wiki has something that might help you out

On what website/link did you received this error message ??

• The server was not found or was not accessible.

I've upgraded to a Windows 8.1 machine, and installed SQL Server 2012 (version 11.0.3128.0), and SQL Server Express 2008 R2 (v 10.0.5500.0).
I've created a database in the 11.0.3128.0 instance, and populated it by restoring it from a .BAK from another server.
I've opened Visual Studio 2012, and accessed the database via the Server Explorer, with no problem.
I've copied a running web app to this same machine, and opened it in Visual Studio 2012. But when I attempt to run in debug mode, my first attempt to access the database gives me this error:
"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
(provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"
Here's my connection string, as defined in the <connectionStrings> section of my App.Config:
<add name="EMSDataModelContainer"
connectionString="metadata=res://*/EMSDataModel.csdl|res://*/EMSDataModel.ssdl|res://*/EMSDataModel.msl;provider=System.Data.SqlClient;provider connection string="Data Source=xps-8500;Initial Catalog=EMS;Integrated Security=True;multipleactiveresultsets=True;App=EntityFramework""
providerName="System.Data.EntityClient" />
Thanks in advance.
