Who can I share public calendars with? "+A public calendar can be viewed (but not edited) by anyone you have provided a sharing link. It is a good way to share a calendar with a group or team. The group or team members do not have to be MobileMe members or be using the new MobileMe Calendar+"

• Sharing slideshows with non Apple users

Can anyone suggest the best way to share slideshows with non Apple family and friends?

Are you asking about the file format for non-Apple PC's or the best way to physically share the slideshow file or are you asking about sharing with people that don;t have a computer at all?
Once you create the slide show in Aperture you will need to export it. You can pick a number of formats and uses during export. The easiest way would be to export for YouTube. Once the export is finished you can upload the file to YouTube and give all your friends and family the URL to play it.
If you want to deliver a file depending on the software they have on the PC you could use the .mov file format. This requires Quick Time to play it but there is a free Quick Time player for windows available from Apple.
If you want to create a DVD to play on a standard DVD player you will need to get a hold of DVD aurhoring software. Apple use to include the software with iLife but stopped doing that a while back. If you're looking to make a video DVD post back.

• Sharing Address Book with non-Mobile Me members

I maintain a mailing list for my volleyball friends via a group in my Address Book on my MacBook Pro. I have MobileMe. Most of my friends on the mailing list are PC users and don't have MobileMe. I want to provide everyone on the list a webpage (or whatever) that they can visit to see my current mailing list - we all like to keep in contact with each other. It would be nice if it could be kept current, with name, address, phone numbers, birthdays, photos, etc. I have not been able to figure out a way to do this - to create a shared Address Book that is accessible to everyone in the group, regardless of whether they are a MobileMe user or not. Can you recommend anything? Is there a way to design say a webpage that is perhaps built off an extract of my Address Book? Ideally, I would love for it to remain in sync, but if I can't do that perhaps I could at least manually refresh it periodically. Any ideas would be most appreciated, even if complicated. I can learn. Thanks! Paul

But that is exactly what Address Book Server does. It synchronises (via iSync) with your clients local Address Book, so besides having all your data in a relational database, all your connected clients are also kept in sync an up-to-date. Address Book Server support most modern relational database engine but used H2 by default. Many users have configured MySQL and PostgreSQL is also an option. Depending on your choice of frameworks and technology you should be able to integrate it. However for those less enterprising, there is a friendly web interface already available in the "Enterprise Edition".
To answer your question regarding how this is accomplished. The Address Book API allows direct access to contact information on OS X and the iPhone. However the data can also be accessed via the iSync API. Depending on your requirements either might be suitable for your requirements as well. You could also access the SQLLite backend directly, however this is not a supported method and not recommended. You would also have to figure the schema out for yourself.
Maybe you should just try it out and see how it can be improved.

• I can't see a Base URL for shared Calendars with new Mobile Me iCal

Hi,
I have a family .Mac membership and my events are being organised by a Windows user (with one of my other accounts) using the Mobile Me Web site. No other problems accept this.
With the previous iCal on my Mac when I shared a Calendar I was always shown the Base URL which anyone with a web browser could access. With the new iCal on Mobile Me is a simple URL still an option? If so how can I find it?
I don't wont subscribers to have to download a file or add the calendar, I just want them to click a URL and view the week's events, Read only, as with the previous iCal on my Mac.
The old URL system does not work for the new iCal on Mobile Me I tried it http://ical.me.com/username/Calendar
Any Tips will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Athena

Do you have enabled auto-fill for the location bar?
You can check the pref browser.urlbar.autoFill on the about:config page.
You can also make the protocol visible.
You can set the pref browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false on the about:config page to see the http: protocol.
You can set the pref browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled to false on the about:config page to disable the highlighting of the domain and see the full URL more clearly.

• Sharing iBooks with Non-Apple devices?

My brother is an avid reader, but not an Apple user.
Is there anyway to share books purchased via iBooks?

Earle,
I wonder if there's a confusion about iBooks the eBook and iBooks the G3 and G4 laptop computer?
Anyway this could be possible, from:
http://superuser.com/questions/634403/can-you-read-an-ibook-on-a-pc
"The Apple store contains DRM, and non DRM encrypted ebooks. It is possible to export an ebook from iTunes and read it on your PC or put it on a non apple device (check with the apple license agreement before doing so)."

• Can cisco MSE(mobility service engine) configured to work with non-cisco access points?

I understand that access points can be configured to forwards all the probe requests to cisco wifi controller. cisco MSE(mobility service engine) gets the probes from wifi controller to find the location of the mobile devices.
My question, can cisco MSE(mobility service engine) be configured to work with non-cisco access points?

No and the reason why is the NMSP communication from the MSE to the WLC. Other vendors don't support this so there is no communication happening.

• Sharing icloud calendars with non icloud users

Anyone have a suggestion on how to share my ical icloud calendars with non-icloud users?
Can't seem to share with MobileMe - and Tungle.com doesn't support it either. What about google calendars? Would that be a good work around or end up duplicating entries somehow if they're all synced.
Please advise.

Ok Apple... I was sooooo excited about moving my whole team to iCloud, I've already got us setup and our upcoming events are being entered as I write. Then.... I discovered.... The fatal flaw....
While most of my people are apple users, I still have an employee that isn't and isn't ever going to be. No big deal right, they should just get read only access while the "in crowd" gets the cool toys. Except....
See screenshot below, I can EITHER publish read-only to a url OR share through iCloud... NOT BOTH. So in order for my one non-apple employee to see the calender, I have to give up the ability for all the others to make changes... making this calendar service just as ineffective as the one I was trying to replace!
This would be such an easy thing to fix, but I suspect it was a conscious decision to incentivize more people to switch to all apple. Yet I just can't get everybody to do that, I can't force an employee to buy an iPhone and I sure ain't gonna pay for it. So I'm stuck. Next stop... Google Calendar.

Does iphone support sharing with non Apple devices?

For that matter, it doesn't support bluetooth sharing with Apple devices either... except app to app connections that are specifically coded to communicate directly.

• Sharing digital files with non Adobe users

Can someone tell me how to share Adobe files with non-Adobe users? At the Adobe Max Conference, they mentioned that this was possible, but I'm not sure if this is something that is available now or just in the future. Thoughts, comments?
Thanks,
-JLUMBER

You first need to upload the file you want to share to Creative Cloud, then through the web interface (https://assets.adobe.com/files you can select the file in question, click the "Send Link" button near the top of the file list, and then click "Create Public Link".
This will make the file public and provide you with a link to share to your intended recipient.
It actually works quite nicely.

• Sharing calenders on one computer

My wife and I share a mac via Fast User Switching where I am the administrator. However, there doesn't appear a way for us to share our iCal information. We don't need to be able to write to the shared calenders (however, that would be nice). Is there some way to do this?

Hi Dennis,
Caution is always understandable.
Yes, this software is designed to be used with OS 10.4 and iCal 2 as well as OS 10.3 and iCal 1.5. I should point out that I have nothing to do with the author of this software, but it does work on my machine.
There are other ways of doing this. You could start webdav on your machine's Apache server and both subscribe to it locally (instructions - http://www.shawnwall.com/teach/webdav-ical.php ), or some people have got making symbolic links work. Both involve playing around in the Terminal. There is also .mac.

• Cisco WLC 5508 with 3702APs - mobile hotspot for 2000 Guest users

Cisco WLC 5508 with 3702APs - mobile hotspot for 2000 Guest users
I've been given a fantastic "opportunity" by my boss to use our existing wireless infrastructure to provide internet access to potentially upto 2000 VIP guests arriving with BYOD devices, in a very densely populated area for a 3 day event. We are talking an area of approx 200m x 15m. Think of it as an awards ceremony/concert. The solution will also be mobile so we will be using internet breakout from different telcos as it will move to approx 20 countries. The area is also incredibly densely populated with other wifi APs. I did a brief site survey and AirMagnet could detect over 2500 other 'rogue' APs from where I was stood! I hope CleanAir works!
We need a simple authentication method for them to connect with zero admin from our side. We don't want to just offer up a rolling daily PSK as that's a bit amateur and we don't really want the VIP guests sharing the PSK with others during their stay. Ideally they could self-provision by providing an email address.
I know the WLC can handle webauth for local users but I don't think it scales very well. ie I don't think I can offer the account to several hundred people.
Cisco ISE looks a very expansive (and expensive) product but I don't think we need all it's capabilities (do I?). It would be nice to just ask a potential user for their email address and grant them access and email them next year. I've seen Cisco NAC but that looks over the top too for just guest users who will only be accessing a shared internet connection.
I've seen 3rd party supposed software solutions from Kiosk Antamedia etc do they work with Cisco Enterprise WLC solutions?
We'd like to limit users to a certain (low) bandwidth and block (say) torrent traffic to keep the general user experience worthwhile.
Does anybody have any case study documents or experience of such a project? As well as the authentication it's how well the APs will handle the dense potential number of clients trying to connect in such a confined space.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated from the knowledgeable community.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Rasika,
We are having WLC 5508 model with software version running 7.4.121.0. AP Models are AIR-CAP2602I.
Normally our WAN links are good even while the issue pertains. We are connected to remote offices over ipsec site to site vpn for WAN. The link latency in WLC between the AP and the controller shows <1ms.
currently the Guest network is using WPA2-PSK auth given in the controller. we are trying to find a option to make the Guest wireless auth local to the office, and see if this solves the problem.
any suggestions,
Thank you,
Arjun

From what I know there are no plans to back-port shared VHDX to plain vanilla Windows Server 2012. Shared VHDX is one of the key selling points to make people upgrade to R2 so it's financially not interesting to MSFT to support new features with non-R2.
StarWind VSAN [Virtual SAN] clusters Hyper-V without SAS, Fibre Channel, SMB 3.0 or iSCSI, uses Ethernet to mirror internally mounted SATA disks between hosts.

• Sharing/collaboration with external shareholders

Hi,
Our customer is interested in using sap mobile docs. Not only for internal people, but they would like to have some sharing possibilities with their external shareholders.
As mentioned in the documentation, anonymous access with password protecten to a file (read access i suppose) as well as public write access to a published folder.
What does that last option mean - just adding files to a shared folder, or also editing documents which are contained in that published folder?
How far can you go with team collaboration for external shareholders?
please elaborate this further,
also what are the plans in the near future for this "external access" - feature?
thanks
Peter

Hi,
'public write access to a published folder' means adding files to share. From Web App, you can download the document, edit locally and update back to the same share. There is no editing possible within Web App.
What scenario's are you looking forward for external access feature ?
