Sharing Contact Info

With my Macbook Pro, is there any easy way I can share contact info for multiple contacts with individuals who use either macs or pcs?

Only to those Mac's or PCs that you own and are either connected to iCloud or Google Mail.
Of course you can export them to some file format and then import them to any computer.

  • How do I stop iOS8 sharing Contact info with Facebook?

Every time I make a change in Contacts, my iPhone tries to send the information to Facebook. Also, my personal (Me) information in Contacts has little blue Facebook linking tags throughout. Here's the thing - I never specifically set this up and I don't want it. It is a breach of my privacy. But for the life of me, I can't find how to disable this function anywhere within Settings nor within the Facebook App.
Please, can someone tell me how to disable this functionality?

    @Don Kirk
Try the steps below to help you out with your issue:
    Removing Facebook Contacts from iPhone
One of the easiest ways to remove or hide the Facebook contacts from appearing in your Contacts is to turn off a switch you’ll find in Facebook settings. To do this:
    Open the Settings app
    Tap on Facebook
Under “Allow These Apps to User Your Account”, turn off the switch for Contacts
Go back to your Phone app → Contacts and refresh the contacts list. All those Facebook contacts should be gone now.
Hide Facebook Contacts From Showing Up (Groups)
So we come to the next method which is usually considered a step backward because of its implementation in iOS 7 (more on that later).
You have these Groups that you can create and manage. Controlling the groups (and their visibility on the Contacts app) was very easy with iOS 6. With iOS 7, it gets a couple of steps extra.
Open the Phone app and tap on contacts
Now, tap on “Groups” link on the top-right
Do you see a “Facebook Contacts” group. You have to turn this off. (Uncheck)
Tap on Hide All Contacts  first. Then tap on all other groups that you want  to see. Don’t tap on the Facebook group. That’s it. (In iOS 6, tapping used to toggle check/uncheck. The implementation is kind of strange in iOS 7).

  • Need to "publish/subscribe" my Contacts info like we could in Addressbook. Any ideas?

Being a LONG TIME Mac User (yes, I owned a Lisa in the early 80’s and it still runs!)  I have lived thru the transition from OS 6 and 7, then 8, 9 and finally the upgrade to OSX and thru its incarnations up to my current Maverick (aka OS 10.9.4).  I am no stranger to changes on the Mac OS.  But the new Contacts file within iCloud has me lost. For many years my spouse and I would cross share portions of our personal AddressBook using that softwares publish/subscribe function. It worked great! I could have a list of his relatives/names/phones/addresses in case I needed them - and he had the same for me. With a glance he could see that my sisters middle name was Louise and she hated it. Useful info for when she was being icy to him on a phone call. <grin> We had the shared groups identified as coming from my AddressBook or his, and we could share subgroups or the entire thing as we might choose.
When we went to iCloud and now Maverick, there is no longer a way to share the contact info short of buying the Apple Server software and setting up our own server in house. While I might be able to justify doing so, it is a huge hassle for a very small gain in our case. So that is a last-resort solution, so far.
I would again like to be able to share portions (groups/or sub-groups) of my contact database files with specific individuals, using something like a publish/subscribe feature that would require both parties to agree to the sharing and then once that was done, it should implement automatically and update every time an items is changed, added, deleted on the owners main copy of Contacts.  Ideally this would work thru iCloud and its “push update” function.  But just to have it working is the goal here. I really do not care HOW it works.
Ive searched, even called a buddy who works the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store. So far, no one seems to have any suggestion other than the aforementioned Maverick Server idea.  Frankly with three computers, two printers, a few iPads and iPhones, and a couple of Apple TVs in the house, I am hard pressed to justify the time and energy running a server would require.  There has to be a better way to do this. If friends can push their Contact Info to their Android Phones, I should be able to share my Contact files with my spouse!  Thanks for your thoughts/suggestions/and hopefully for a solution.

  • Family sharing, contacts turned off but still showing up on other devices

kids got new iPad for Xmas, set them up with Apple ids and set up family sharing.  Contacts are toggled off in my iCloud settings however all my contacts show up on my kids iPad.   What am I missing?  Seems like the contacts should not be shared... Can't find an answer on here....  Thanks
when starting a new message on the kids iPad it will display all tthe contacts, they don't actually appear in his regular contact list, however are populated in a drop down list when you start typing the name of a new recipient

It seems it is a problem related to the recent contacts list.  As I stated above, the contacts don't show up on his contact page, however when you are starting a new message it populates a list with essentially any and all of my previous contacts, none of which exist in his contact page.  They show up with their names and all contact info included.

  • KB2687455 (SP2 for Office 2010) Breaks Outlook Searches of Shared Contacts/Calendars

Hello, everyone! I would love to know if anyone else is experiencing these issues.
I am an IT Network Technician for several clients that have had issues searching in shared contacts and/or calendars in Outlook 2010. These users are using Office 2010 in Citrix/Remote Desktop Services environments. When these servers automatically
download and install KB2687455, the users can no longer perform searches in shared contacts/calendars. They receive an error stating, "The requested Upon removing this update, and having the user close and re-open Outlook, the search functionality is
restored. Surprisingly, a reboot is not required to restore searching.
Is Microsoft aware of this issue? If so, what is being done to correct it? If not, is anyone else experiencing similar symptoms?
Our firm has already observed similar failure of the search functionality in Outlook 2010 due to the installation of another Windows Update, KB2956128. The issues with that update are already well-documented, based on a preliminary Google search,
and we have blocked the installation of that update, where possible, until we are informed of a fix for it from Microsoft. Any information on the repair of that update would also be much appreciated.

    Hi,
Both KB2956128 and KB2956203 seem to cause this issue to some of our users, as you mentioned KB2956128, have you checked KB2956203? If you have installed this KB, uninstall it to check the result.
If it is KB2956203, we have been aware of some issues caused by the recent updates, and would like to collect more information for further investigation.
Can you guys share your detailed system info? Also, if you have any log files about the issue, kindly share with us by sending them to this email account:

We appreciate your assistance with this.

  • Best Practice for Shared Contacts available as an Address Book in Outlook??

Yep so crazy that Microsoft still refuses (by design) to enable address book option for Shared contacts!!!!!!!  So I am asking what do they suggest then for my clients to have a shared contact list that is available as an address book and available
    to sync to your phone?
    Problem:
I have a client that the boss has a contact list in his outlook that he has synced to his phone that is shared so that everyone else on his team can see the contacts, since it is a shared contact list users are not able to add it to their address book (by
    design..nice design)
    Solutions I know of:
1.Use public folder for contact list...= Nope public folder contact list will not sync with his iphone/ipad...(yes there are 3rd party tools but I would prefer to not go this route)
2.Sharepoint....I have heard this one but don't know much about it.   How does it sync to outlook and phones?  Is it seemless?  can user add contacts in outlook?
    3. ??
Seems like this would be a huge issue that microsoft would have fixed by now.  Let me know if anyone has any ideas...
    Sbs 2003 I will miss you !!!!

  • Importing Shared Contacts into the Global Address List (Outlook 2013)

A colleague of mine has made a contact list which is going to be shared with other colleagues to increase productivity.
His question is, if it's possible to import the contact list into the Global Address List after it has been shared?
The contact list does not appear in my Global Address List, instead it appears in the People section (next to Calender).
If you need technical info about the office version etc., feel free to ask!
    Thanks in advance.

    SP-Brown,
You can import contacts into Active Directory, so that it can be included in GAL. There are some gotchas with that however. Maybe, a simple Outlook folder sharing is more convenient for you. You can share Outlook Contacts folders among collagues just the
same as Outlook Calendar sharing works. Start here:

With Exchange Public Folders you can achieve somewhat the same.
If you really want to mess with AD and the GAL, this is your article:

The ideal situation would be if the shared Contacts Folder shows up in the Offline GAL, but I'll try to fiddle around with it for a bit.
Is there also a possibilty that users can import a contact list so that appears in their Offline GAL?, I do think that it might be a hassle to keep the contacts updated....

  • HT201287 How do I share contact info over SMS while viewing a contact?

I am using iPhone 5S. While viewing a contact information, I would like to send the contcat info over SMS.
As per user guide, if I click on Share Contact and then select Message, New Message screen is popped up but without the contact info.
    Need some help here.

When I share a Contact (named "Emergency" in my case), I see a screen like this:
Note at the top is where I would address this message to the person with whom I am sharing.
Are you sure you're set up for messaging?  This may be an MMS message.

  • Need the contact info

We are a new campus on iTune U(Morehead State University). I got an email recently which shows that Our iTune U application is approved and our authorized signing person (my boss) should get an email for detail instruction. However, he didn't get it. Can anybody help me? Is there a contact info of the iTune U team? I have tried to search it. I didn't find anything.

    Vishal,
As always, your best point-of-contact for local iTunes U issues is your school's Apple Account Executive (otherwise known as an "AE"). This person has direct links to the iTunes U marketing and engineering teams and can vouch for your ownership of UMKC's iTunes U site.
If someone else at UMKC created your iTunes U site, it's very unlikely that Apple would provide you with that person's Apple ID and password (in fact, it's almost certainly impossible for Apple to retrieve the password). Without a valid Apple ID/password combo, it will be impossible for you to get your site's base URL and shared secret. The iTunes U team could certainly send these to you but, as they are largely based in Cupertino, they cannot know "for sure" that it's correct to do so. That's where the local Apple folks, the account executives, come in. They do know you and the other principals at your school, they can help establish that you are the new owner of your UMKC's iTunes U site for Cupertino.
Notwithstanding iTunes U, I find it's valuable to ping my AE and SE every week or so. Both of my local Apple reps are great…my current AE is Ty Beckmann (who also serves as the AE for about half of Chicago's higher ed institutions) and my SE is Jason Bruder, who has done yeoman's work for us. In a pinch, I might bug my former AE/SE (the venerable Jack McLaughlin and the brilliant Mike Miley respectively)…but both have moved on to other schools/roles at Apple, so I'd have to be pretty desperate first.
Long story short, it's good to know who is your Apple account executive and who is your Apple service engineer. If you have a bookstore that sells Macs on campus (or some entity that sells Apple stuff on behalf of your campus), someone there will -know- who your Apple AE is.

  • Synch Outlook Shared Contacts

I have a user who needs to access her boss's contacts(as well as her own) on her blackberry. Her email etc is handled thru Outlook 2007/Exchange 2007 / BES.  Her Outlook contacts synch correctly but her boss's shared contacts are not being synched to the device. She says that it has been working up until last week.  Any help in getting this to work would be appreciated.

Way old this but still needs correcting.  Above answer is not accurate - you can sync multiple contact Dbs off an exchange server.  Turn off PIM wireless sync for this user in BES then use Desktop Manager to select one or more public folders containing contact info to sync with device along with the users own contacts in their mailbox. In this example I believe that if the Boss's mailbox (and the contacts folder specifically) is shared with editorial permissions for the PA, then if she adds this mailbox to her Outlook profile such that she can see his contacts folder, then she will be able to select them in Desktop Manager. Haven't tried this myself but switching off wireless sync and use Desktop Manager and manual sync'ing is the way to go

  • How do I setup useful shared contacts with Exchange OWA Outlook 2013

    Hi There,
    I have a non profit I'm helping out. They have Exchange 2013 Sp1 & outlook 2013 .
How can I setup shared contacts for Outlook and OWA users?
I have been struggling to setup a useful shared contacts folder. No Matter what way I do it there seems to be major shortcomings.
They have 1 "Shared" mailbox account [email protected] and many user accounts [email protected]
I first imported the contacts from csv into a contacts folder in the info@ account, which works great for the Info@ user. When I share the folder with other users they can see it listed in "People" in full Outlook, but if they're addressing a message
they can't see the contacts when they hit the TO button. If I look at the properties of the Info@ Contacts folder in the folder list of the User, the Outlook Address Book tab is missing. Also can't find any way in OWA for User@ to open the shared contact folder.
I also tried using Public folders to share the contacts but found problems there too. Using Full desktop Outlook, users can share contacts, add to their Outlook address book etc. Great, but... there's no way to access Public Folder Contact folders in OWA.
They're a fully volunteer organization so many people are using OWA from home, they're not IT people so it needs to be easy.
Is there something I'm missing, when I started out on the task I thought it would be simple. Its hard to believe after all this time MS hasn't addressed these major shared contact shortcomings.
    Thanks for any help!

I decided to go with a mixed solution.
Not every member has a society email account, only the executive and key volunteers have society exchange email accounts.
I imported the society member list into the the GAL, this allows any society mail users to email other members easily
I then imported the larger marketing list into the shared mail account which is restricted to a few users. They can be shared from there to other users, but they can only access those shared contact from Outlook (not OWA)
It's not ideal as OWA users cannot access the contacts from the Shared Mailbox but they can at least find other members addresses easily.
It looks like I could also setup a new GAL and share it with only some users, haven't dug too deeply into this yet.
    Thanks for your help Ed

When I compose a txt message (SMS) and then try to attach my contact info i get the message "At least one contact cannot be shared" what the hell am I doing wrong? I also deleted and then set it up again. nothing. • Cannot add shared Contacts in Open Directory from a client

    Hello all
I need to transfer vCards from a local Address book to the Server and I need them to be shown in each client's Address book.
*Problem 1:* I cannot add or edit shared contact using the Directory app. from a client to a 10.5.3 Server. Only the Directory Admin credentials are valid. The client 10.5.5 is bound OK. The app is configured to use password, not Kerberos, and the Server is "responding normally" in the Directory Utility application.
I can even login as a mobile user with Network Home. Same there.
*Problem 2:* Ive put in Address Book the correct LDAP settings, but I cannot see a catalog of vCards. If I search using the search field, I get results, but I need them to be shown all as catalog.
    Thanks in advance

This turned out to be a reverse DNS configuration problem. Apple support suggested using a local ip address instead of my public host name. That worked so I looked into the reverse dns configuration. I fooled myself by thinking that if I could reach my host with my.host.com with other services like http, that my DNS was set up correctly. My reverse DNS originally resolved to my.host.com when it should have been something more like 123-456-789-103.cos.pcisys.net. Now I can reach my host from anywhere with the Directory application.
