Shell script to execute java program

Hi there,
In my script to execute my Java program, I have assigned a variable as follows:
PROGRAM_ROOT = "C:/program"
A jar file that my program needs is located in C:/program/build. ie. it is located in "PROGRAM_ROOT/build".
In my script I have a property set as follows:
-Dprogram.build="$PROGRAM_ROOT/build"
When I execute the script using cygwin, the above line gets converted to the following:
-Dprogram.build="$PROGRAM_ROOT
/build"
i.e. the concatenation of "PROGRAM_ROOT" and "build" results in PROGRAM_ROOT<carriage_return>\build.
Is there a way to use PROGRAM_ROOT and concatenate "/build" to it?

You'd have to build your own client/server implementation or use a remote messaging framework (like RMI) to help you with this if you wanted to do it in pure Java.
It would be easier to just kick off some other installed process to send the message, e.g. install cygwin and pipe the command to start the shell and run the script through ssh. If you wrote a Java program to kick this off, it would only be a couple lines of code, and not really necessary.
It's not ideal to try to do remote command administration just using Java.

Most likely the shell environment is woefully lacking in needed details
add new line as below

Executing a shell script from a java program

Hi,
I'm facing a problem while executing a shell script from a jsp page.
I'm using exec() function.
It's working fine for single statement scripts.But if the script consists of any database processing and some other processing statements,it's not returning the correct exit status of the process.
Will u please help me in this.
If there is any other ways to execute a shell script from a jsp page other than Runtime.exec().If so let me know.

How to call a shell script from a java code

Hello can any one suggest me how to call a shell script from a java program that takes three parameters.
i have a shell script (msp_restore_gui) when i run this script in the command line in a RHEL5 ,SUSE10 and Debian machine it works fine .I even tested to call it from a java program and it also worked fine but when i used the same in a J2ee application where the user when clicks the restore button in a webserver this inturn sends the request to a java file named BackupManager.java where i call the shell script.But here it fails.Waiting for your suggestions.If you want i can put the code also here

Need to execute tcl script from a Java Program

Hello,
I need to execute a tcl script from a Java Program. But I do not know how to call the tcl Interpreter. Can anybody help me?

Iam using the exec command as follows:

But Hello.tcl is not executed.And does that exact string work on the command line?

I cannot execute Java program in XCode for Mountain Lion 10.8.2. Please help me how to execute a Java program.

Do you have a particular error or message or diagnostic or issue, or something that's particularly wrong with Xcode? If installed, Java does work, and Java applications can be invoked.
Background: Java was deprecated from OS X a while back, and Java itself was removed from the default OS X 10.8 installation.
Given that Java is now an add-on for OS X, you'll want to check with Oracle — the owner of Java — for OS X kits and tools.
I don't know off-hand if Xcode still particularly supports Java (it was pretty weak, when last I checked), but I'd expect you'll be using makefiles for the work, and I'd also suspect that whatever Java support remains in Xcode will probably be going away in some future version of Xcode. (If support hasn't already disappeared. You may be using bash build scripts and makefiles to deal with Java now, or going forward.)
If you don't have access to the Apple developer forums and the discussions of tools available there, then the archives of the Apple Java-Dev mailing list can be a good spot to look for existing discussions, and to post questions related to Java development on OS X.
As for IDEs other than Xcode, Eclipse or NetBeans or IntelliJ IDEA, and BlueJ all run on OS X, and any of these would probably be a better long-term choices for Java development on OS X.

If you are using Window$ then you can create a bat file to execute the program and place the bat file in Scheduled Tasks.

Does this shell script execute a .class file or a .java file? Does the java file have to be in the same folder as the script file?

Perl script calling a java program

I have the following perl script that executes a java program called TestSe. It passes its QUERY_STRING to the java program after printing it.

This script in placed in a cgi-bin directory on a server.
This script works when i run it manually and hardcode a string value in $in by doing
$in="Acheck";
It prints 'Acheck' on the screen and invokes the java program with Acheck as the parameter.
I tested it by typing
'perl try.cgi' on the shell after logging into the server.
However when I execute this script via. a browser then it does not exec the java program.
The QUERY_STRING is the papameter passed to this script by an html form in a browser that invokes it. The script can print the value of $in in the new browser window that it creates but it is not execing the java program.
Does anyone kow why?

Thatu2019s an interesting question. BusinessObjects does not supply any native UNIX shell interfaces or scripts for running/executing Webi Reports. Not knowing what it is you are exactly trying to accomplish Iu2019ll give a very general answer.
I have had several customers who had requirements to have external systems execute, refresh and export reports in BusinessObjects Enterprise before. These external systems could execute a shell script so what they have ended up doing is creating generic Java applications that use the BusinessObjects BOE Java SDK. Once they had the Java application created their external application could execute a java directory or they created shell wrappers that were called. So what you could do is create some Java applications that wrap the functionally you need and then execute those from the command line.
With that said there is a lot of functionally built into BusinessObjects Enterprise. If I was to know exactly what you were trying to achieve I might be able to point you in the direction of an existing product feature.
