I hate to say this, but do you know where my year old Creative SB X-FI Titanium Fatalty Professional Edition that cost me $30 actually is? In my PCI slot, no, in my other PCI slot, no.

I have been a long time customer of Creative, even opting for bundles that come with a new sound card. Iregretfully say that my last purcase of the X-FI Fatalty, will be my last purchase from creative, EVER.
Lets get the ball rolling as far as WHY:
Cons:
. The drivers are a pain to install. It took me forever just to get the CD to actually run, and to boot, it had a scratch, so I had to get my card replaced. -0 pts for a Fail Factory.
2. After I did manage to get the drivers installed, it took me over 2 months to figure out that the jack that is marked, MICROPHONE, does not default to be a microphone jack, and My front panel is not compatible wit the X-FI. -20 pts for lack of reliable configurations, and incompatibility.
3. My sound was not much better, in all honesty I'm happy now that I can't hear my voice through my microphone, and that I have a nice flashy paperweight. -0 points for functionality.
4. Support for Vista is next to nil. It's horrible. - another 0 pts for not providing adequate drivers, and telling someone who could (Daniel_K) that he has no right. When all that really does is hurt yourself, because THEY STILL HAVE TO BUY YOUR PRODUCT TO USE IT! -25 pts for bad software, and for being idiots.
5. Its holy expensi've! Seriously guys, $30, and I dont even get an I/O Dri've?!?! -5 pts for price.
6. No cross platform support. I tried this on Ubuntu Hardy, tried open source drivers, no, tried official drivers, still no? -0 pts for cross platform.
7: The drivers still fail, even after they are correctly installed. They are annoying, they always pop up asking me for stuff, and it took tweaking to get that register screen to stop coming up even after I had registered. -0 pts for fail drivers
Pros.
. It looks badass in my case, which would be cool if it had a side panel window. + pt
OVERALL SCORE: /00 GRADE: Fail
Please, think about your Customers as Customers and not as Cu$tomer$ okay? Show us some reliable vista support, or in the near future windows 7. And maybe I'll have another little trial with Creative. But it wont be anytime soon. Buh Bye.

I bought the exact same card a few months ago. I run Vista 64 Ultimate and here is my experience with that card. I had just installed Vista 64 and started to install my sound drivers. So I used the brand new Vista CD available from Creative to install everything. Then I would download ALL THE UPDATES that Creative has listed for the card, to make sure that I covered all the bases. ? My system froze, locked and would not play much of anything well. I tried for hours to look here in the forums to read what all others had done before. I finally gave up, uninstalled everything and used Driver cleaner..... Then I installed the Daniel K. . support pack, and after that, the newest Creative Labs 64 bit driver for the X-FI Titanium. Now I am pleased and very happy with my sound. I love the fact that I no longer have to use an I/O bay or Li've Dri've as they used to be called. My front panel HD audio jacks work great!!!
Gi've this card another shot with the Daniel K. pack and then combine that with the newest drivers. I think you will be as pleased as I.

Shocked by lack of features on Mac version compared to Windows. Why?

Just downloaded Premiere elements 11 and shocked to find that the full set of features are not supported on the mac version, most notably the chroma, green and blue keying effects/ filters. Why is this?? I use a mac not as a fashion statement, but because they are the industry standard for creative businesses. ALL photographic, graphic design, editing etc suites use macs, so why give these features to windows and NOT macs? Makes absolutely no sense at all and I am shocked not to mention disappointed!!

There are differences between the Mac and PC platform, and not just with Premiere Elements, but also Premiere Pro. The PC gets more Effects, and Transitions. This was first noted in Premiere Pro CS 3, when it was ported to the Mac. Before, with Premiere Pro 1.0, through CS 2/verson 2.0, the program was PC-only. When PrPro CS 3 was introduced, the Mac-users took note that their PC friends got more than they did.
At that time, there were many posts to the PrPro Forum, regarding the differences. Adobe engineers commented on the differences between how the two platforms handled some aspects of the program - and mainly display functions. This list of Effects & Transitions in CS 3, for Mac and PC, will show what was different between those two platforms: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/460313?tstart=1470 [Note: this was for PrPro, and it has/had many differences, from PrE, so this is not a clear difference chart between PrE for the Mac and the PC, but you can get the idea. It is for background reference use only.]
Something similar happened, when PrPro went from CS 4 to CS 5, which was a 64-bit program ONLY. A lot of Effects and such were lost in the new version, and some were "old stand-bys" for users of the earlier program. In time, a few DID show up in later versions of PrPro, but not all. Some were 32-bit only, and Adobe deemed it too expensive to port all of them to 64-bit, so they were just dropped, and have never reappeared. The same thing happened with many 3rd party plug-ins. Once, they were all 32-bit, and that worked up until CS 5. Most suppliers then went back to the lab, and recoded their plug-ins for 64-bit, but not all. Some just dropped their support for PrPro.
While this does not help you get your job done (ATR's blog post will, however, and that was also why I suggested other Effects for Keying), it shows that PrE is not alone with the differences between platforms.

Static electric shock when hooked up to TV via VGA

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro and have been hooking it up to a new Samsung HDTV via the display output to VGA, as well as the audio out port. I have been streaming video off of Hulu or Netflix and after about 20 minutes of me sitting on the couch away from the computer and TV, I get up to cue the next TV show or change something with the computer and I get an electric shock when I touch the computer.
Any thoughts on what may be causing this? Its not the biggest deal but I don't look forward to it every time that is for sure.

Not sure if either one of us would call that a solution, but if it is static, the problem should get less and less as winter wanes and humidity rises (depending on what climate you're in, of course). Less than a Month into BT and already shocked

I am so shocked by BT I signed up for broadband as I really liked the upload speed compared to virgin media or Sky but wow am I regretting it now.
I signed up and everything was delivered and setup just as they said it was and even my infinity 2 speed is close enough to what they claim so was happy.
now the 1st part I can take responsibility for after moving address I failed to notify the bank in time and my account frozen due to a security issue so 1st direct debit was declined I admit that is not BTs fault an oversight on me.
Within 2 days BT phone me and state my Username and account number and query the missed payment not thinking of it as I am aware BT operates in India and as they had more account details than I had I thought nothing off it they even told me it was £48.xx and would I like to pay over the phone by card. So I used my other account account and paid £87.62 as apparantly I was being charged for late payment and a chase up fee etc I thought it was steep and out of order a bit but didnt want anything bad against me so I paid.
I thought nothing off it I had no more calls no emails etc until today when I went to go online to see my account suspended and I had to make an online payment to ractivate my account bearing in mind I had just paid £87 and now they want an additional £48 so £135 and I have not even had broadband/phoneline 1 month so I paid it just to get my service back which I have just been notified can take over 24 hours (really slow and bad for a company the size of BT)
SO turns out some how my BT account details were leaked from BT to a scammer I had not even had my account number and the scammer did and confirmed numbers are correct.
WHere as I thought I had paid I hadnt after a long while talking to BT who have now offered to have some bt security team call me. I can live with the fact a big company like BT sells your information on or somehow someone can get personal details as there system is not as secure as we would like to think (I am not happy about it but I know this happens)
WHat I can not live with is there extortianate rates they charge a victim of cyber crime they are as bad as scammers now I do not mind paying the odd few quid for the refused direct debit as that is partially my fault but a late payment charge, an £18 reconnection fee and charge for refused direct debit, not to mention the lost £87.62 stolen as scammers had got my details from BT somehow.
I know as far as BT are concerned that is not there problem as I made the payment but how did the scammers get my account number before I did ?? Is it really fair that I am going to be paying almost £200 for my 1st month of broadband.
I am not impressed and still 6 hours after confirmed payment I still have no broadband and been told it will be back on in 2 days, so much for running a business from home!!!!!
and now what is up with this router first week was absolutely fine but I am having to factory reset the router almost daily now as it seems to be pushing some firmware update that keeps rebooting the router and dropping internet several tomes a day. So on top of £200 almost spent for line rental and charges I will have to also fork out an additional £140 to get an actual decent router that works as this is a known issue with the BT HUB.
I would have thought someone that has been in the game as long as BT and someone that has alll the infrastructure as they do should be able to reconnect your service at a touch of a button and not make us wait 3 days to get reconnected.
I would have thought they have the resources to protect our data but then I guess this is the problem with them saving their money and having cheap labour abroad where god knows what is happening to our information. FUnny thing is my neighbour switched to bt infinity on my initial recomendation and within 3 days of his installation he to has had people calling up demanding money from BT which he now thinks is the same scammers as I Had.
I am not impressed so far and really feel let down. On the bright side I did get a much appreciated Sainsburys Voucher that works fine now I just wish I could get broadband to work properly at a reasonable price so that I can run my business. I regret moving away from sky after 10 years of excellent service but saw I could get faster with BT infinity here as sky only offer the 38mb package here.
Oh well I hope things get better and I won't have any more problems I have ranted but I really wished I researched before signing upto a 12 month contract.

It depends on how critical your connection is. Business customers get a much faster repair time, and are given priority over residential customers, and will pay compensation on some of their SLAs.
If you do not mind being without service for three to seven days, then the residential service should be fine, otherwise you should be on a business package, with a proper SLA (Service Level Agreement).
Its not simply the amount of usage you make of the service.
The residential service is aimed at the general public, who use it for web browsing, e-mail, gaming, and streaming services like YouTube.
You can get advise on this forum from other residential customers, but they are not going to be able to fix your faults, as this is only a customer to customer forum.
The firmware issue is discussed on a number of threads on the forum. Alternative VHDSL modem/routers are also suggested.

My ear buds that I bought a few months ago shocked me and no longer work is there warranty on these?

I had my headphones in my 5s when I was running and all the sudden my ears got shocked. I know it was from ESD. Only problem is my headphones no longer work. I just recently bought them like 2 months ago. Shouldnt there be a ground in these headphones? Are my ear buds just bad or did I just get the short end of the stick again?

Most devices are covered by warranty in most Countries
If you headphones are Apple they certainly have a 12 month warranty and if not Apple check the paperwork that came in the box

This is a user forum and is not Apple. I would definitely recommend that you stop using your iPhone and take it to be checked.

Why does my Mac give me an electric shock

Ever since I have had my MacBook Retina in October, my Mac has always given me a very uncomfortable feeling when I touch it.
When I touch my Mac, I can feel some sort of weird, almost magnetic sort of feeling as a rub my hands over the lid.
I always feel slightly dizzy afterwards.
Sometimes when rest my arms next to the Mac and then accidentally touch the Mac, I get a very sharp and stinging shock from the aluminium body.
I believe that this is due to poor electrical earthing by Apple?
After all, the MagSafe charger only has 2 pins, whereas earthed electronics have 3 pins.
I am using the original charger that was included with the mac.
So is there a way around this? or am I going to be stuck with until I get switch to something else?
Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

The problem is more likely to be a result of your domestic electrical system. It sounds to me that you do not have an electrical ground. A three pin plug in a compatible electrical system would solve that problem.
Do a search on these forums for similar complaints.

Electric shocks in iPhone 4 and Macbook Pro

When I first started using my white 32GB iphone 4 a month ago, I felt very slight electric shocks and static-like feeling and a kind of pins and needles feeling in my hands. I soon either forgot about it or got used to it.
Then 2 weeks ago, I got a new 15" 2011 macbook pro (from Smart Deals on Amazon). When I was using the trackpad, I felt even more electric shocks and pins and needles in my hands and my hair has even started standing on end. When I used the laptop on my lap, it got boiling hot and the pins and needles, electric shocks and static in my body got even worse. Now, when I use my old macbook on my lap I'm even getting the same problem.
I have a carpeted 2nd floor flat and lots of electric devices. As far as I know all of my plug sockets are earthed.
I'm now not sure if the problem is psychological. My cousin held the phone outdoors and agreed that it was giving him shocks.
Could I have developed a static sensitivity since using the phone and the macbook pro?
Maybe I need an electrician to come to the flat or see a doctor.
But seriously, is there likely to be a fault with the macbook pro as this is by far the worst of the causes of the shocks and probably what started all of this? I need to get to the bottom of this quickly so I can decide whether to take back my macbook pro and/or iphone.

Someone suggested carpal tunnel syndrome to me as well. But I was able to see an orthopedic surgeon a few weeks ago who ruled that out. I'll see my regular doctor in a week for a yearly checkup. It may be worth getting yourself checked out.
When you went to the Apple store, were you able to test other phones to see whether they would give you shocks? That is one of my next steps. I've entertained the idea that it is mainly me--acute sensitivity to electricity but a recenlty acquired sensitivity. It did not begin until I started using the iphone in June. Before that electronic devices did not give me shocks, and I did not feel pinpricks or burning. My habits have not changed. Someone joked that regular yoga may be making my less blocked nerves more sensitive. That I take with a big grain of salt.
I'll call the nearest store to see if they will let me test other phones out.

Video shocks in full screen & freeze of finder when coping

The last few weeks a have two problems with my "new" mac book pro (reatina).
1. When I play video's online (youtube or other provider) the play normaly in small screen but start shocking/flashin in full screen mode. It is not a preformance issue, i check the activity log, their is no heavy load active. I have the problem in Safari and in chrome and with multiple video platforms.
2. The other problem is that my finder completely freezes when i copy large files from my hard drive to a USB stick op my time capsule networkdisk. Finder will continue coping but i can not do anything in finder, i only get the "beachball" and have to wait till it is complete.
Anyone tips how to fix this?

It is possible that the white dot problem could be related to one of the sensors on the camera. The sensor(s), some cameras have one and some have three, record the information for the pixel. I know of one case where the videographer was videoing ballet dancers with a black background and noted a few white dots and that was the problem. If over time it repeats and maybe some more start to show up then that could be the cause.
The camera failure could be caused due to heat or doing a lot of recording with the gain turned up.
I'm not saying that is the problem, only that it is one possibility. Why it "disappeared" the way it did is puzzling.

Anyone ever get an electrick shock from the Mac Book Pro top case?

For my daughter's 2 week old 15" 2.4 GHZ Macbook Pro:
She says she has felt a slight shock when typing, with the AC on - I can't reproduce it, except a very slight tinge/vibration that I think may be static electricity. Has anyone felt anything beyond what could be static? I'll continue to try to reproduce this before I make an issue of this with Apple. In the meantime, if you have had anything like this, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks

persist the way that the MBP tingle does. It isn't
static, it's current electricity. You don't get a 10
second shock from your car after a long journrey -
just a quick spark - for the same reasion that
lightning doesn't last for more that a few
miliseconds? (if that)
I have the same issue and switched to the earthed
extension lead which eliminated the problem. Don't
let any genius try to pull the wool over your eyes
with the static routine. It's current electricity
from a live outer metal casing.
Thinking more about it, I'll get a multimeter from
work and test it out, I'll bet it gives a constant
voltage when using just the 2pin plug.

Get Electric Shock While I Touch My PowerBook

I always get electric shock while I touched my powerbook.
Although it is a minor shocks, but it happens frequently.
I go crazy about that.
My parents touch me while I am using it,
they can feel that there is current flow into my body.
They tell me that it is harmful to me.
I bought it with applecare, and it is still under warranty.
I need some expertise advise on how should I deal with my PowerBook.

I've found this is most common a problem if you don't use the grounding outlet that came with your power cord. That means you need to use a three prong connector to the wall, instead of a two.
The next most common issue is if you walk across a carpet or wet floor, you will pick up static electricity. It is a good idea to discharge your static electricity before touching the computer by touching a desk or other object connected to the floor.
One time I walked across a wet carpet because of a flood, touched a computer keyboard, and fried the computer with my static electricity.
