Should I return mine too?
I just noticed that I too also have the psu making the weird noises and it also comes out at the macbook. I've got the moo as well but the thing is that they are not that loud. I'm worried that if I return it that I'm gonna get one thats worse and am gonna be wishing that I kept the old one. What do you guys think I should do? Are there really macbooks out there that have no problems at all or do they all have the problem and the user doesnt notice it?
well thats the thing. If its quiet enough I can hear the whine. As far as the moo goes. I'm just worried that if I take my macbook to the library or to class and it starts mooing its gonna be pretty freakin embarassing. Do you think they all do this and the people that say they dont just dont hear it? or are there really macbooks out there that really dont whine and moo? and is the whine and the moo definitely that can be addressed with an update? the moo I would really like to get rid of since I like to record and you can actually hear the moo in the recordings. Itsa condenser so it picks up EVERYTHING. and the whine 'm just worried that its gonna mess something up. It used to be dead quiet aside from the mooing but now today I got home and noticed that the noise from the psu crept up into my actual macbook itself now.

Is this a cool macbook pro or should i return it.
Hi,
I'm a photographer and just bought my first Apple notebook.
It's a week 13 macbook pro and i updated everything ( firmware,...)
It idles at 43°C and with the dev/null running twice for 30mins it climbs to 75°C and then the fans start up slowly and lower it to 72°C where it stays.
Is this acceptable for a macbook pro or should i return it ?
Macbook pro 15inch Mac OS X (10.4.6) 1,5 GB RAMThere seems to be a very wide range of performance. Mine (a week 11 machine that works fine and doesn't feel too hot on the outside) never goes below about 52° C and occasionally spikes up to 75° C. Under full load it goes into the eighties, and the fans come on then, but not noticeably otherwise. This is quite a bit hotter than my G4 PB was -- I don't think I ever saw it above 64° C -- but the case is not really noticeably hotter. I'm not messing with it since I have none of the other complants. But I think an Applecare policy is probably a good idea in case the heat causes problems over time.

Should I return my MacBook Air to upgrade to a MacBoook Pro?
I recently bought a MacBook Air with 4 GB of ram, 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB for $850. However, I today found a refurbished MacBook Pro for sale with 8 GB of ram, 2.6 GHz intel Core i5 processor, and intel iris graphics for $1099. Should I return my MBA and buy the MBP for the $250 more? Is the faster RAM, processing speeds, and graphics worth $250? I often play league of legends but other than that I only use my laptop lightly, Microsoft and some web browsing.
If the MBP has the Retina display, then it is definitely worth it. The 13" MBP is not that much bigger than the Air. And the 4GB RAM in the Air will not be enough if you plan on keeping it for 3-4 years.
I too wanted the Air because of form factor but I settled on the 13" MBP. The Retina display and the 8GB of RAM make a pretty noticeable difference. -
I would like to know if these readings are considered "too hot" for a mac mini (current gen):
HD: 42 C
CPU : ~55 C
Ambient: 40 C
Temperature readings are from iStat Nano, and the current outside temperature is about 90F (unfortunately, no air conditioning or fans in the room).
The reason I'm worried is because the mini feels very hot to the touch, and I don't even hear the fans inside running even though I'm sitting less than 3 feet away from it. The current fan speed is 1791rpm.
Thanks,
JonathanIf it makes you feel any better my unibody mini runs similarly hot, and yes, mine too is hot to the touch (but far from being so hot I need to take my hand off it). Interestingly but not surprisingly, the side that the power supply is on feels noticeably hotter than the other size.
I think this is normal and expected as I previously compared it to the hot bottom of a MacBook Pro which makes perfect sense considering the aluminum unibody design and MacBook Pro parts inside + the internal power supply. I sometimes think the aluminum unibody design was intentional to double as a large heat sink. The ventilation where my mini rests probably doesn't provide the best air flow as it sits on a home-theatre style shelving system which is complete closed at the back with the exception of a small hole to run cables through. Actually, my generation one G4 mini in the same location would run so hot at times it would force the system to sleep (or a "coma" as I liked to say ha) to cool down.
Maybe someone should start a thread to post their unibody temperature readings? But I think there would have to be some standardization in the sampling as my CPU can run as cool as 50C and as hot as 78C depending on the load on the system. -
I returned mine today and Office Depot did not want to refund my money even though I had until 1-7-12 to return it according to my receipt. They finally did refund my money but was not happy about it. But I give them credit for finally doing the right thing. I wish everyone here best of luck and I did learn a lot since the only tablet I had before now was a 1999 Fujitsu 10" Stylistic Tablet running Win 98 (Still works great, but kind of heavy! !) and a 2010 7" Pandigital <$80 tablet that also works great (but resistive touch screen). My main reasons for returning the product are listed below in case there are other folks on the "fence" right now as far as return dates are concerned. I think this will be a fine Android Table after the kinks are worked out but I suspect it was released too soon.
Reasons for returning:
1. I live on SS and had to save the $300 over a period of months. Can't take a chance on a product that had so many fails in only one week of ownership.
2. Constant loss of WiFi even when device was only a few feet (less than three) from the router. All other WiFi devices in my house work fine even at the furthest distance from the router in my house. I did try a different router (to improve streaming) but there was no change. At its best it would only go one room away before losing signal (small house, one wall, no metal between router and device).
3. Device would cause constant buffering after the HDMI cable was plugged into my TV.
4. Device caused constant buffering even when not using HDMI cable.
5. Lock ups. Freezes.
6. GPS didn't work (not that I would really use it....but still....I paid for it.)
7. Fear it would die after my return period had passed.
Again I think this will be a great product when the kinks are worked out. And I suspect there are plenty K1s out there working just fine right now. I think $300 is a LOW price for the K1 if everything worked. I will really miss it since I really liked it (even if this post makes it sound otherwise). I will consider buying another one after checking in at this forum now and then to see if things are better.
By a route obscure and lonely
haunted by ill angels only.I can relate to the on SS and counting pennies idea. I just got my K-1 two days ago after returning a Nook Tablet to Barnes and Noble. I got tired of "workarounds" to use the device as I saw fit. Last straw was when they did a "security update" that blocked all sideloading of apps. No complaints though, as I was on Lenovo site looking at the A-1 when I came across a deal for the K-1 at Staples. Took a few phone calls but got the last one anywhere within 100 miles. I don't think I'll be returning mine.

I haven't had it long enough to have everything figured out but Android Market recognized my account from my smartphone and setup some key paid applications without having to buy them again. Nice.
Weirdest thing so far is not being able to connect to my Lenovo X-60 laptop via the proprietary USB cable (running Linux Mint). It works when booted into Windows and I can send data to the K-1 from there, but so far I haven't figured out the workaround to connect in Linux.

Should I return the drive? I am a bit scared because my old drive failed and this was to be a replacement."Pre-Fail" is a type of statistic collected under SMART, it does not imply the drive is failing.
You should check the "man" page at http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/man/smartctl.8.html#index to see further details.
Since the drive has been up for only 19 hours, it should work well. The OWC warranty is https://eshop.macsales.com/service/warranty_info.cfm.
If it is a very old drive, but has been recently put in service, it should still provide good service. OWC is usually very good about warranty. You should maintain good backups for critical data, including an on-site and off-site backup, if you can. -
Someone help me please. Should i return my samsung 55" 8000 seried LED
I got this open box almost a month ago... $2249.... $2450 out the door.... Its amazingly real... But after looking at CES and seeing all the WIFI enabled tv's and the CELL tv from toshibia... for a little cheaper im debating on returning it... i have 3 days left until my 30 days is up... I know i got a great price on it but should i just pay the same amount for a more current model? Please help me... im on a budget too and really didnt want to spend more than 2000$ but the samsung was a great deal at the time... That new VIZIO 55" is looking pretty sweet to me... Should i return it and just get a better model in a few months?
Are these prices at best buy, or over the internet? And whether you should retern it depends on if you would really use those extra features or not. If not its not worth the hassle in my opinion.
And me personally, I would not trade a samsung for a vizio but that is just my personal opinion and nothing more.
If it were me I would look at the tvs your considering and make sure they actually look better and offer more features than the current tv you have.
I can't imagine the CELL tvs will be cheap either. And there is nothing currently out that can utilize that much rezolution, so it will be upconverting everything. LCD and plasma display the picture in their native resolution, so if its less than the native resolution it has to upconvert it. Which means extra processing. And if that tv is four times the resolution of the current 1080 standard it would be upconverting every signal it gets. And upconverting it a LOT.
Might look really nice on good source material, but it could really look bad on something of lower quality. I would have to look REALLY hard at one and test it with different signals to make sure it really looked that good. I simply can't imagine needing that much resolution on a 55 inch tv unless you were sitting 3 feet from it lol.
I mean I looked at 1080 and 720 tvs and opted for a 720 because I honestly couldn't tell the difference. I could not imagine being able to notice four times that.
Might make one heck of a large computer monitor though if you had a video card that could run that high.
Now that kind of resolution on a large front projector would be interesting to me, but not on a 55 inch lcd tv. Again just my opinions, never actually seen one just read about them. -
Should I return my new MacBook Pro? Creative Suite CS and CS2 do not work?
I am soooooooooooooooo ******!!!!!!!!
I just purched the top of the line MacBook Pro and learned that the Adobe Creative Suite products do not work on this machine. I contacted Adobe and they said they will not have an update until they release the next version, which won't release until (at the earlies) the end of this year. While Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign are not crucial aps for me, I do use them for business regularly.
With this being the case, I ask the mac community using these machines, should I return the computer, buy a g4pb (my TI just literally fell apart) ? Reading the board hear and various news articles, there seems to be a few issues (whine - apps - etc).
I guess I should have looked into this more before purchasing, but I trusted Apple to release products that are ready for users.
This is the most expensive computer I have ever puchased and I need it to do everything my TI PB did.
Is the MacBook Pro worth the early adopter hastle?
(thank god I haven't opened the box yet!)
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.5)According to Adobe:
Creative Suite 2 will work on Rosetta with the exception of one componet. Version Cue Workspace (Server) does not work under Rosetta. As of Jan 31 2006 this was the only known issue with using the suite on Intel Mac's.
Adobe Systems
Creative Suite: Yes (with performance losses)
Photoshop Elements: Yes
(Adobe has posted "FAQ: Adobe Support for Intel-based Mac Computers" [intelmacsupport.pdf]
http://www.adobe.com/products/pdfs/intelmacsupport.pdf , which discusses Intel support, development, Rosetta compatibility, rough schedules, and more for Mac applications from Adobe and Macromedia.)
I would recommend that if you are going to use this program that you have 2 GB's of RAM seeing as I hear that Rosetta can be a RAM hog. Hope this helps you out.

What should i do if my ipod touch 4 gen. has a white screen and it goes away rarely. Should i return it and get a new one?
If the problem persits after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod then you likely have a hardware problem. In that case an appointment at the Genius Bar of an apple store or returing it to Apple is in order.

is there any way of transferring my music on my ipod to a cd to preseve it?

*is there any way of transferring my music on my ipod to a cd to preseve it?*
If you have songs on the iPod that aren't on the computer you need to copy them back to iTunes to back them up to CD or DVD. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide -
Should I Return New MBP? Monitor issue
Just bought MBP 15" with the MiniDvi port yesterday, and have a Dell 30" monitor on order. But now, I read all the problems with the adapter. Should I return the MBP or this an isolated problem?
The MBP external display issues are very widespread. The problem isn't the result of the occasional fluke - it seems to be built into the machines. Apple is neither properly recalling entire batches, nor successfully repairing/replacing individual machines. Don't buy a MacBook Pro unless you're going to be happy with a sub-par laptop.
This is the first time 20 years of Apple patronage I've recommended against buying an Apple machine.
