Should I return my new 13" rMBP

Hello everyone
Recently my new Macbook arrived (my first MacBook ever!) and I'm really getting paranoid about the other thread that's up where people complain about the freeze issue.
I had finally saved up the money so I could afford myself a MacBook because for university I want my laptop to be durable and stable with good support from the manufacturer and that's the reason I chose an Apple product.
Now I haven't experienced this issue myself except for the laggy animation transitions and such but I've thinking to myself that nearly all products are built from the same hardware so I'm basically just sitting on a time bomb? Eventually is has to happen to me as well, right?
Next week I have some finals that require me to bring my laptop with me. I'm very paranoid that it might happen when I'm taking my finals. When I placed my order at Apple's online store I thought to myself "Finally a laptop that won't bring me countless of headaches" but I haven't felt comfortable when using my laptop because of the fact that others have this issue and I more or less convinced myself that it's a time bomb.
Do you guys think I should return it? And if so, how do I return it if I bought it at Apple's online store.
I really want to keep my laptop, but I don't want to take any risks because it's a lot of money for me.
Thanks in advance

That's probably true. However someone just suggested me to open my console in order to make sure if I have it or not. Seems that my console is full of errors (the one mentioned in the thread).
Yet my keyboard and trackpad were always working, seems even more confusing now.

  • Should I return my new MacBook Pro?  Creative Suite CS and CS2 do not work?

    I am soooooooooooooooo ******!!!!!!!!
    I just purched the top of the line MacBook Pro and learned that the Adobe Creative Suite products do not work on this machine. I contacted Adobe and they said they will not have an update until they release the next version, which won't release until (at the earlies) the end of this year. While Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign are not crucial aps for me, I do use them for business regularly.
    With this being the case, I ask the mac community using these machines, should I return the computer, buy a g4pb (my TI just literally fell apart) ? Reading the board hear and various news articles, there seems to be a few issues (whine - apps - etc).
    I guess I should have looked into this more before purchasing, but I trusted Apple to release products that are ready for users.
    This is the most expensive computer I have ever puchased and I need it to do everything my TI PB did.
    Is the MacBook Pro worth the early adopter hastle?
    (thank god I haven't opened the box yet!)
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    According to Adobe:
    Creative Suite 2 will work on Rosetta with the exception of one componet. Version Cue Workspace (Server) does not work under Rosetta. As of Jan 31 2006 this was the only known issue with using the suite on Intel Mac's.
    Adobe Systems
    Creative Suite: Yes (with performance losses)
    Photoshop Elements: Yes
    (Adobe has posted "FAQ: Adobe Support for Intel-based Mac Computers" [intelmacsupport.pdf]
    http://www.adobe.com/products/pdfs/intelmacsupport.pdf , which discusses Intel support, development, Rosetta compatibility, rough schedules, and more for Mac applications from Adobe and Macromedia.)
    I would recommend that if you are going to use this program that you have 2 GB's of RAM seeing as I hear that Rosetta can be a RAM hog. Hope this helps you out.

  • Should I return my new MacBook Pro??

    I got a new Mac Book Pro.  My first Mac ever.  I purchased it on the 17th of July,   In the last few days it has been freezing.  Last night I literally shut it off because I cold not get pages to load....while my Windows laptop (4 years old) was running SUPER speedy sitting right next to it!!!  I am feeling a bit nervous over spending 1700 plus dollars on a product that doesnt seem to be as good as the the cheaper alternative.  I am very conflicted and not sure what to do.  Even when it does load....its no way near as fast as my old windows laptop.  Whats the deal???

    Well, I personnally have decided to hold off updating. Mainly because my sound equipent isn't yet ready to run on Lion with all the software updates.
    I would say that any new operating systems that are released around the world have always given some users issues.
    But one of the best things about a mac, is that if you have a problem with it crashing etc, it's nearly always resolvable without any re-installing the OS like on Windows. I've had mine for 2 years without a single re-install so far. And definately no plans to! And I've been able to resolve every snag I've come across / modify my system to do exactly what I want it to. Mac's OS is far far more powerful than Windows. I will NEVER return to Windows. It's the stupidest operating system in the world to me.
    You'll be glad you broke up him in the end. And if your not, go see Dr Phil!!

  • What should i do if my ipod touch 4 gen. has a white screen and it goes away rarely. Should i return it and get a new one

    What should i do if my ipod touch 4 gen. has a white screen and it goes away rarely. Should i return it and get a new one?

    If the problem persits after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod then you likely have a hardware problem.  In that case an appointment at the Genius Bar of an apple store or returing it to Apple is in order.

  • Should I Return New MBP?  Monitor issue

    Just bought MBP 15" with the MiniDvi port yesterday, and have a Dell 30" monitor on order. But now, I read all the problems with the adapter. Should I return the MBP or this an isolated problem?

    The MBP external display issues are very widespread. The problem isn't the result of the occasional fluke - it seems to be built into the machines. Apple is neither properly recalling entire batches, nor successfully repairing/replacing individual machines. Don't buy a MacBook Pro unless you're going to be happy with a sub-par laptop.
    This is the first time 20 years of Apple patronage I've recommended against buying an Apple machine.

  • When should I buy my new Macbook?

    Im in a bind. I need a new laptop for college and I have a crappy Asus Laptop that is literally a rock. I need advice on if I should wait until WWDC 2014 in June or should I get a new Macbook Pro Retina now. I don't know what to do. My laptop ***** and I am literally close to smashing it. I am a person who wants the latest and greatest but I dont know if its worth waiting or not. Can someone give me some help?

    I have the late 2013 rMBP, and I cant imagine what they can add to this to make it any better.
    I have the 2.6Ghz with a 1TB Flash Storage.  They use the same flash storage in this as they do in the Mac pro's so it has read and write speeds about 1.2GB/second.  It boots in about 10 seconds. And just everything works FAST.
    My guess is that the next version may have a small speed increase,  But I think you will be extremely happy with the current line.

  • BAPI for material creation which returns the new material number

    Hi,
    I need a single BAPI or a remote enabled function module to create a material which would return the new Material number generated.
    Regards,
    Tanveer S.

    Hi
    if this scenario should occur:
    run BAPI_MATERIAL_GETINTNUMBER  and get next material number
    run BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA and get an error when creating.
    Is there a way to rollback the internal number range?!
    ROLLBACK WORK doesn't seem to work and, if the  BI_SAVEDATA returns with the error, the next try will have the material number X+1, although X  was never used.

    Should I return the drive? I am a bit scared because my old drive failed and this was to be a replacement.

    "Pre-Fail" is a type of statistic collected under SMART, it does not imply the drive is failing.
    You should check the "man" page at http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/man/smartctl.8.html#index to see further details.
    Since the drive has been up for only 19 hours, it should work well. The OWC warranty is https://eshop.macsales.com/service/warranty_info.cfm.
    If it is a very old drive, but has been recently put in service, it should still provide good service. OWC is usually very good about warranty. You should maintain good backups for critical data, including an on-site and off-site backup, if you can.

  • Checking return of new operator

    I am a C++ developer just starting out on Java. I understand the concept of the new operator very well. I've been reading a Java book to see how Java uses/handles the "new" operator. None of the explanations or code examples say anything about checking for a null result when using the "new" operator. This concerns me especially when I see code for creating GUIs that look something like:
    // menu items
    JMenuBar MainMenuBar = new JMenuBar();
    JMenu FileMenu = new JMenu();
    JMenu EditMenu = new JMenu();
    JMenu HelpMenu = new JMenu();
    {etc...}
    and then immediately start accessing the objects with code like...
    FileMenu.setText("File");
    FileMenu.setActionCommand("File");
    FileMenu.setMnemonic((int)'F');
    MainMenuBar.add(FileMenu);
    How do we know we actually have a valid object? What if it isn't valid, will Java throw an exception if we try to access it? I assume Java will return NULL if the object could not be created? If so, is there a preferred "Java design" for capturing such an error... 1) check return from "new", or enclose in "try" block and catch exceptions?

    Also, Java constructors can
    throw exceptions. (Whether or not they should
    is another matter.)Are you saying that constructors shouldn't throw exceptions? Why? I think that constructors should do the minimal amount necessary to correctly initialize an object to avoid having to throw exceptions. However, there are cases when throwning an exception is a good idea. Yes, the object will not be properly initialized but if there's an exception then the object is likely unusable anyway. It seems like a good idea to let the client know this through exceptions.
    Thank god we don't have to check the return from the new operator! That would be a nightmare.

    my ipod skips on occasional tracks and its getting frustrating now,should i return it?
    is there any way of transferring my music on my ipod to a cd to preseve it?
    thanx.

    *my ipod skips on occasional tracks and its getting frustrating now*
    Have you had a chance to look at these troubleshooting pages? They may be of some help:

    iPod does not play content purchased from the iTunes Music Store
    *is there any way of transferring my music on my ipod to a cd to preseve it?*
    If you have songs on the iPod that aren't on the computer you need to copy them back to iTunes to back them up to CD or DVD. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
    The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
    iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

    There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • My I pad 3 constantly loses my wi fi signal. Does apple have any plans to correct this or should I return it. This was not an issue at all with the original one.

    My new iPad 3 constantly loses the wi fi signal.  Does Apple have any plans to correct this issue or should I return it. I had no problem with my original I pad.  Both are in the exact same location in my house. I'm finding this very annoying and disappointing and am being forced to us my 4 g data plan

    You may already have tried this, but before you completely give up, I'd check your home router software and also reset the router.  I haven't seen this particular issue arise on these forums with new iPad devices, so perhaps it has to do with outdated software or configuration on the router not playing well with the new device....

  • Someone help me please. Should i return my samsung 55" 8000 seried LED

    I got this open box almost a month ago... $2249.... $2450 out the door.... Its amazingly real... But after looking at CES and seeing all the WIFI enabled tv's and the CELL tv from toshibia... for a little cheaper im debating on returning it... i have 3 days left until my 30 days is up... I know i got a great price on it but should i just pay the same amount for a more current model?  Please help me... im on a budget too and really didnt want to spend more than 2000$ but the samsung was a great deal at the time... That new VIZIO 55" is looking pretty sweet to me... Should i return it and just get a better model in a few months?

    Are these prices at best buy, or over the internet? And whether you should retern it depends on if you would really use those extra features or not. If not its not worth the hassle in my opinion.
    And me personally, I would not trade a samsung for a vizio but that is just my personal opinion and nothing more.
    If it were me I would look at the tvs your considering and make sure they actually look better and offer more features than the current tv you have.
    I can't imagine the CELL tvs will be cheap either. And there is nothing currently out that can utilize that much rezolution, so it will be upconverting everything. LCD and plasma display the picture in their native resolution, so if its less than the native resolution it has to upconvert it. Which means extra processing. And if that tv is four times the resolution of the current 1080 standard it would be upconverting every signal it gets. And upconverting it a LOT.
    Might look really nice on good source material, but it could really look bad on something of lower quality. I would have to look REALLY hard at one and test it with different signals to make sure it really looked that good. I simply can't imagine needing that much resolution on a 55 inch tv unless you were sitting 3 feet from it lol.
    I mean I looked at 1080 and 720 tvs and opted for a 720 because I honestly couldn't tell the difference. I could not imagine being able to notice four times that.
    Might make one heck of a large computer monitor though if you had a video card that could run that high.
    Now that kind of resolution on a large front projector would be interesting to me, but not on a 55 inch lcd tv. Again just my opinions, never actually seen one just read about them.

  • Should I create a new iTunes account for a podcast?

    We are still in the process of getting our first podcast edited and ready to go, along with the website, podcast hosting, etc... But I was curious about when we are ready to submit the podcast to iTunes.... Should I ceate a new iTunes account, dedicated to the podcast, or use my own personal iTunes account to submit. I'm a little hesitant about using my own, since I'm not sure how that affects anything in how the podcast is displayed, or notifications from iTunes. I would rather have communications go through the E-Mail for the domain I have set up for the website/podcast, but it's not the end of the world.
    If it's used strictly for authentication, then it most likely won't be an issue. I just wanted to verify how it is used, and best practices, before submitting our first episode.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    It is just for authentication - no need to create a new account for your podcast.
    Just submit with the one you already have.
    Any changes to your show in iTunes are managed via your RSS feed - not from your iTunes account.
