Show report as PDF directly.

Hi BO teams,
   Can we show the report as PDF directly instead of showing a CR Viewer component?
Meaning I dont need to invoke the export feature of crystal report.  If yes
a sample code will be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks.
Best regards,
June

Hi,
You can export the report with out viewing using the viewer object but you need to use the export control to do this.
sample code as below.... Hope this will help you
ReportExportControl exportControl = new ReportExportControl();
exportControl.setParameterFields(getReportFields(map));
  try {
      exportControl.setReportSource(getReportSource(map.get(REPORT_NAME)));
} catch (ReportSDKExceptionBase e) {
     e.printStackTrace();
ExportOptions exportOptions = new ExportOptions();
exportOptions.setExportFormatType(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
exportControl.setExportOptions(exportOptions);
exportControl.setDatabaseLogonInfos(getConnectDetails());
exportControl.setExportAsAttachment(true);
exportControl.processHttpRequest(request, response, session.getServletContext(), null);
exportControl.dispose();

  • SSRS should directly upload my report to PDF after taking parameters from user

    Hi
    I have a client requirement where 6 paramaters are declared in a report. And these parameters are explicitly entered by user who accesses the report. After entering parameters user clicks on "View Report".
    Requirement is "View Report" should directly export the report to PDF. Instead of showing it in default viewer.
    Some one please help.
    It is very critical and urgent requirement which I should complete.
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Ok, then I hope only by using the SSRS tool we can't redirect as per your requirement. Once it is rendering only we can export to few formats.
    Alternatively you can try Data Driven Subscriptions. It can directly send the PDF's. Even there is having some limitations. If your requirement is suitable within those limitations then u can use right ?
    Try it! .... All the best

    I did all the config as mentioned on adobe site. It seems to me the dataset problem.
    I am running 2 reports one for which i have more data and for the other less data.
    The one with more data comes up properly on browser. But the one with less data is showing me blank page.

    what the tools can help me or backge please

    Yes, I know this is an old post, I’m just trying to clean them up.
    There is no report that will show you when a SU was installed on a PC. At best you can use the last change date but they is no reliable for several reasons. As for your second question, I’m not sure what report or category you are looking
    at. You will need to provide more details.

  • Report in PDF Format ?

    I use Oracle9i Report create a new report and run it on Web site and output by PDF format,but have two question :
    1. After I input parameter form Data , it will show a blank web form .
    2. If not show parameter form , the result will show pdf format on web, but the font is error , I have set NLS_LANG but still error .
    Please give some idea , Thanks !!

    try this ,Install acrobat4.0 or above and make sure you got acrobat distiller which will add a acrobat distiller printer in you windows. print report direct to that printer (don't change desformat) and you should got your PDF file with correct font setting.

  • Run big report in PDF hangs though the PDF file was created in server

    When running Oracle reports6i big master-details-details report(220 pages) in PDF format thru report server CGI on Netscape Enterprise Web server, it hangs. But the pdf file was created when checking in the server and is good when it's viewed directly using IE. Also checked the http://domain_name:8083/cgi-bin/reportcgi/showjobs?server=repsrv, the Job Status was 'FINISHED'.
    The HTTP_error_Log in the server is:
    [17/Feb/2004:13:31:42] failure (28995): for host 63.237.37.70 trying to POST /cgi-bin/reportcgi, cgieng_scan_headers reports: the CGI program /usr/netscape/elecprod/cgi-bin/reportcgi did not produce a valid header (read failed, error is Resource temporarily unavailable).
    Please help as our users demand it urgently.
    Thanks a lot.

    1) This bug734197 is fixed in version 3.0.5.13.0, which means it should be available in 6i (the version you are using) also. But from the bug description I see that it is reproduced with Reports 6.0.5.28.0 version also. If your reports 6i version is higher than this, it may contain this fix. Best thing is to apply the latest patch. The patches should be available in metalink (metalink.oracle.com) .
    2) For troubleshooting purposes run the report in html/rtf and see whether it times out. ( just to see whether
    this is a PDF specific issue)
    3) Disable acrobat web integration (in Adobe acrobat settings) and try . This will prevent Acrobat reader from opening the pdf automatically and instead will show a dialog to save the pdf report ( There are some IE - Adobe issues which are not reports bugs).
    4) There were some threads some time back which had this problem with long running reports and PDF. Finally it turned out to be webserver timeout problems. Pls see ( this is for 9i servlet and Apache webserver, but for 6i also it could be similar)
    Re: Long running reports end successfully - present s "page can not be foun
    5) If these does not work and if you are not able to make further progress, I suggest you to get in touch with Oracle Support (if you have a support contract) to solve this issue. [ If the possibility is that the bug you are mentioning is not pushed forward to 6i (a remote chance) then only they will be able to a get a oneoff patch.]
    Thanks

    I am re-writing a VB6 app to VB.NET 2005.  I have a viewer control that I use to display the reports in when I want to preview the report on the screen.  The VB6 app can also automatically export reports to PDF format silently (no user input or screen output).  I would like to do the same in VB.NET.  In the VB6 app, I simply set the viewer control's ExportOptions.PDFExportAllPages = True (I also set the DiskFileName FormatType, and DestinationType parameters).  I then display the form containing the viewer with the .Hide parameter.  This exports the report without displaying the report on the screen.  I have not been able to find any information that allows me to do the same thing in .NET with Crystal Reports XI.
    I have tried creating a ReportDocument object, but when I execute .Export(), I get a "Missing parameter values" error - absolutely no other information.
    For example:
    Dim crExportOptions As New ExportOptions
    Dim crDiskFileDestinationOptions As New DiskFileDestinationOptions()
    Dim crFormatTypeOptions As New PdfRtfWordFormatOptions()
    Dim crReport As New ReportDocument
    crDiskFileDestinationOptions.DiskFileName = "C:\Test.PDF"
    crExportOptions.ExportFormatOptions = crFormatTypeOptions
    crExportOptions.ExportDestinationType = ExportDestiniationType.DiskFile
    crExportOptions.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat
    crExportOptions.ExportDestinationOptions = crDiskFileDestinationOptions
    crReport.Load("C:\Test.rpt")
    crReport.Export(crExportOptions)
    This is where the error occurs.
    I also tried setting Viewer.Visible = False followed by Viewer.ExportReport().  The viewer does not display, but this prompts for the export filename.  The whole idea is for the export to be completely invisible to the user.
    I don't care which solution I use:
    1.  How can I get rid of the "Missing parameter values" error using the ReportDocument
    or
    2. Is there a way I can use .ExportReport(), but preset the export filename so there is not prompt?
    TIA for any help anyone can offer.

    Here's a snippet of code from one of my recent projects that should offer some help.
            Dim crOrderPrintout As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument = New rptPublicOrder
      u2018clear the dataset, give it the appropriate parameters and fill the data adapter
            Me.dsReceiptDetails.Clear()
            Me.SqlSelectReceiptDetails.Parameters.Item("@ReceiptID").Value = sReceiptID
            Me.daReceiptDetails.Fill(Me.dsReceiptDetails)
            u2018set the data source and paper size for the report
            crOrderPrintout.SetDataSource(Me.dsReceiptDetails.Tables(0))
            crOrderPrintout.PrintOptions.PaperSize = CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSize.PaperLetter
      u2018These are the printing options, Printer, File or Viewer
            Select Case My.Settings.PrintType
                Case "Printer"
                    crOrderPrintout.PrintToPrinter(1, False, 0, 0)
                Case "Viewer"
                    Dim frmReportViewer As New frmReportViewer
                    frmReportViewer.CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crOrderPrintout
                    frmReportViewer.ShowDialog()
                Case "File"
                    crOrderPrintout.ExportToDisk(CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, "C:\test.pdf")
                Case Else
                    crOrderPrintout.PrintToPrinter(1, False, 0, 0)
            End Select
      u2018close the report
            crOrderPrintout.Close()
    The file option will print directly to a file without prompting the user.  As for the missing parameter values if I had to guess either it's the dataset missing a parameter or the report requires a value.  Example:
    crOrderPrintout.SetParameterValue("ParamName", sParamValue)

  • Error when printing a PDF direct from SAP archive

    Hi together,
    I try to print a PDF direct from SAP archive and I got the error ""C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\reader\AcroRd.exe" /p /h" not found. In the internet I found several topics which describe this way to print a PDF without open the Acrobat Reader.
    The customizing for document management (Local application) seems o.k. If I remove in the registry the parameters /h /p for print, Acrobat Reader will open and show the document if I use the print button in SAP.
    Have anybody an idea what the reason is?
    Thank you.
    Regards
    Thomas

    The rundll32 error seems to have disappeared.  Until this morning I had both this error and the rundll32.  All other types of docs open fine.  This one will open if saved to the desktop first, but not from Outlook.

  • How to broadcast reports in pdf format

    Hello Experts,
    I am running reports on the web and I need to broadcast report via email in the pdf format. I do not see the option of pdf at all in the braodcasting tabl. Here's what I am doing. I right click on the report and click Broadcast -and Export > Broadcast E-mail -> Information Broadcasting tab -> Settings query -> choose the query i want to broadcast -> select the option broadcast e-mail and when I select the output format , it only shows me MHTML, HTML and Online Link to Current Data. But it does not show me the pdf option. We do have the free pdf connected to the sap server. Please let me know what I should do to get it in the pdf format.
    Thanks
    Sruthi

    Hello,
    There are two possible reasons for this issue:
    1st:
    You are using the old BExBroadcaster.
    ONLY BExBroadcaster 7.0 is able to broadcast on PDF format.
    2nd:
    If you are already using BExBroadcaster 7.0, the PDF output format is suppressed.
    You can manage this on the following table:
    > RSRD_OUTFORM
    Check this table and remove the FLAG 'x' on SUPRESS column of PDF OUTFORM.

  • Crystal Reports 10 Enterprise Server Issue - Exporting Large Reports to PDF

    Weu2019re implementing a Crystal Reports 10 Server for a customer but weu2019re having an issue with exporting large reports to PDF.  The report size that starts to show this issue is roughly 300 pages with 20 records per page.  We use the default Crystal ActiveX viewer.
    Basically what happens is that the user will launch the report in the ActiveX viewer and the large report will take a while to load, as much as 3 to 4 minutes.  The user may then wish to export to PDF.  Once they attempt it with these large reports the viewer will basically hang and possibly be processing but will then time-out after roughly 5 minutes with this error:
    u201CProxy Error
    The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
    The proxy server could not handle the request POST /thinqreports/THINQCrystalInterface.asp.
    Reason: Error reading from remote server
    IBM_HTTP_Server/6.1.0.9 Apache/2.0.47 (Unix) Server at lmsproxy.aurora.org Port 443u201D
    We believe this error is coming from a server on our network.  We have a proxy server between users and the Crystal Server that has a 5 minute time-out for connections.  What we want to know is:
    - Is there a way to speed up this export to PDF process?
    - Should the Crystal Viewer be keeping an http connection alive to the Crystal Report Server while its doing this export process?
    - If not, what port does Crystal Viewer use to communicate with the Crystal Report Server?
    - Is there something we can set in Crystal to keep an http connection open?
    - What is actually occurring during this export process?
    Occasionally, we may get the above error when simply launching a report, not just attempting to export to PDF.  We presume that is because loading the report into the Crystal Viewer from the Crystal Report Server is taking longer than 5 min.
    Anyone have any thoughts?  Thanks.
    Scott

    Scott,
    As this is happening within Enteprise (and I am assuming the report does not time out in the Crystal Reports Designer) I would suggest posting this to the BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration
    forum.
    My limited Enterprise knowledge would be to suggest scheduling the report as PDF but I don't know if that is a viable option for you.

  • Taking a long time to export a report to PDF in web app

    Hi,
    I downloaded CR for Eclipse 2.0 to integrate a "Create PDF Report" option into our web application. The original .rpt files were created using CR 2008. I used the sample online code to do this:
    ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
    reportClientDoc.open(REPORT_NAME, 0);
    // .. set report params here..
    ByteArrayInputStream byteArrayInputStream = (ByteArrayInputStream)reportClientDoc.getPrintOutputController().export(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
    I was able to successfully run this and generate a PDF output file, however the report takes over 2 minutes to complete, whether there were only 2 records or 75 records!
    From CR 2008 on a Windows machine, the export to PDF option takes about 2 - 3 seconds for the exact same report.
    Our web servers are very powerful Linux blade servers from Dell.
    Why is there such a delay? Does it have to do with the licensed version versus the free version? Or is this just a limitation of being in a web app?
    -Mike

    We created a version of the same test report that only generates two PDF pages.It has cut the time down, but it still takes it about 16 seconds to open the .rpt file and another 6 seconds to export to PDF and write it out to a file. [Total of about 22 seconds.]
    When we run the same report on CR2008 on a Windows laptop, it takes less than 1 second to load the .rpt file, under 1 second to generate the report and another 1 second to generate the PDF. [Total under 3 seconds.]
    Our question still remains: Why is there a considerable time difference between CR2008 and CR4Eclipse [3 secs vs 22 secs] and is there anything we can do on the web app side to decrease the report output time?
    Here are the "highlights" from the verbose logs (the full logs were about 32K). I tried showing where there were obvious time gaps. If there is a big time gap between statements separated by ".... " it was just doing it's regular work (evaluating functions, etc). If you provide me an email address I can send the complete logs as an attachment.

  • Problem to export a report (to PDF) after converting my reports to CR13

    I have an old project with reports developped using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2003 (.NET 1.1). I want to convert them so I can now use Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (with .NET 3.5).
    I installed Crystal Reports for VS2010 and I converted my reports to the new format. Unfortunately, one of my reports is not working anymore.
    My ASP.NET application generate the report and export it as a PDF. I use CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.Export().
    Everytime I run this method, an exception is thrown...
    System.Exception was unhandled by user code

      StackTrace:
    I also tried to export the report (using PDF format) at design time with the "Export Report" button in Preview mode. It didn't work. But, I can export the report at design time using another format type (like XML).
    The old version of te report (using .NET 1.1, CR9) work fine. As I said, other reports in that same project work perfectly.
    Is someone have an idea of what's wrong!
    Thanks!
    Max.

    The most common cause of this problem is having very large detailed images, or lots and lots of images in your report. The Crystal Report engine changed a lot from 9.1 to 13. The big change was from 9.1 to 10 though when we started using the RAS InProc engine.
    The Crystal reporting engine is not efficient at handling the images and it can cause memory issues like you are seeing. As a test, try suppressing the images that show up frequently in your report and retry your export. If it works you'll have your answer and you'll need a new creative way to design your report without so many images.

  • Printing out a report in PDF format

    Hi,
    A colleague and myself have been converting an existing system for our customer from the traditional client/server architecture to a web-deployed system on 10g application server. I have been converting the reports from report 3.5 to reports 10g. The reports work fine but the problem we have is more to do with the printer than the reports itself.
    We have a requirement to print a barcode label (and some other text) to a DataMax printer. This printer seems to be quite fussy about the fonts that are used and essentially if you don't use the DataMax fonts the label comes out blank. I have managed however to produce reports as PDF and if I click the Printer button in the adobe control the report will print out as a bitmap image on the printer.
    Is there any way that I can produce the report as a PDF file and get it to print automatically ?

    Prohan,
    I have never been able to get PDF generation working from APEX. I have asked for some help on this forum, but go no responses. And I just won't spend the outrageous license fees for Oracle BI Publisher. But I have been successful in doing what need with some simple methods.
    1. If the email has some simple tables or formatted information from the database, use a PL/SQL procedure to generate an HTML formatted message and the utl_mail package to send the html formatted email. I use this for many customer and internal emails from both APEX and Oracle Forms applications.
    2 There is a stand-alone product PL/PDF (http://www.plpdf.com/) that allows you to generate PDF files directly from PL/SQL (again not APEX specific). I have demoed this product and it works pretty well, but I am not using it at this time because of the licensing that requires a fee for each database instance. It's not really that expensive, but it's more than I want to spend for the number of databases I have.
    3. If you have Acrobat Professional, you can export XML file from the database and create "mail merge" type PDF documents. But you can also do this with Word and a simple CSV or Excel output. Both of these are pretty easy from APEX. I have used both. I found the Work mail merge to be a little easier for end users to use, so this is my primary choice. But Acrobat Pro method also works well.
    If you are interested in any examples of these methods, let me know and I can send you something.
