Showing tables from the right schema in Visual Studio Server Explorer

Hi,
I have a 10g Oracle database with quite a few schemas. My user id has access to all these schemas. Once I am connected to the database using the connection string stored in Web.Config, I am able to do CRUD operations on any table in the database through code. What I want to do is, in the Server Explorer of Visual Studio 2008, create a connection to the database so that I can see all the objects in the Explorer. Though the connection is successful, the problem is the tables and other objects shown in the explorer is not from the schema I want. How would I display the objects from the right schema in the database in Visual Studio Server Explorer? In other words, how would I tell the Server Explorer to display objects from a specific schema? Any help is hightly appreciated. Thanks.

You should create your own custom operation (based on operation TABLE) to read your custom table from a Payroll PCR.
If your custom table's name is longer than 5 characters, you may be required to use operations VAOFF and/or VALEN prior to your custom operation in the PCR.

Unable to connect Oracle 10g Express from Visual Studio Server Explorer

Hello,
Please help me out here. I am connecting from Visual Studio 2008 to Oracle 10g Express Edition and the I have installed the ODAC 11 and the ODP.NET as well for Visual Studio(Both include Oracle Developer tools). But whenever I tried to connect from my Visual Studio 2008 server explorer so that I can have the database and its object there, I do get this error : "ORA-12560 : TNS: protocol adapter error."
The following is what I specified in my connection box:
DataSource Name: (Local Database)
Username : HR
Password: the password for it.
My OS is : Windows Vista Ultimate.
Please anyone who has solved such error should just help out here.

Thank you for your reply. I will like to know if you can use Visual Studio. In visual studio there is what we called Server Explorer and from there you can create connection and access all the database server from there. I am able to connect to the Oracle XE through the browser and I was able to crete table and other stuffs like that but when I tried to connect from Visual Studio 2008, I get the 12560 Error. Hi,
Before you start, you should probably take a backup copy of your design (the .dmd file and associated folder), in case the update does not work out as you had hoped.
You need to use Import > Data Dictionary again, to start the Data Dictionary Import Wizard.
In step 1 use a suitable database connection that can access the relevant table definitions.
In step 2 select the schema (or schemas) to import. The "Import to" field in the lower left part of the main panel allows you to select which existing Relational Model to import into (or to specify that a new Relational Model is to be created).
In step 3 select the tables to import. (Note that if there are an Foreign Key constraints between the new tables and any tables you had previously imported, you should also include the previous tables, otherwise the Foreign Key constraints will not be imported.)
After the import itself has completed, the "Compare Models" dialog is displayed. This shows the differences between the model being imported and the previous state of the model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Merge button should apply all the additions and changes in the new import.
Having updated your Relational Model, you can then update your Logical Model. To do this you repeat the "Engineer to Logical Model". This displays the "Engineer to Logical Model" dialog, which shows the changes which will be applied to the Logical Model, and allows you to select which changes are to be applied.
Just selecting the Engineer button should apply all the additions and changes.

Export dump only 1000 tables from the schema which contains 3000 tables.

I have an requirement to export the dump only with particular 1000 tables from the schema which contains 3000 tables.
As I want to take the dump, I need to mention the List of tables in "TABLES" Parameter. But syntax won't allow for 1000 tables.
Kindly guide me on this to proceed further to take the dump of only particular 1000 tables.

if you're using 10g, you could use datapump export/import to achieve this. Not a straight way.

Ghost QUEUE : exists to DBA but doesnt to the right schema

Hello everyone!
Im having some problems with Advanced queue ...
I had to drop the queues from my schema, and unfortntly I made a bad decision to do that (I guess)
To drop the Queue table, I executed the following command:
alter session set events '10851 trace name context forever, level 2';
then, I dropped like a usual table:
DROP TABLE QUEUE_INIT_I1
Some problems came with this ... I tried to drop the queue, but I couldn't (dont remember why, some kind of problem about the queue_table that I dropped). So, looking at the internet I found the following command:
alter session set events '25475 trace name context forever, level 2';
[Just like I did with the queue_table]
then, I dropped it like a normal queue:
exec exec DBMS_AQADM.DROP_QUEUE('QUEUE_INIT_I1');
So ... here comes the problem: I tried to drop the user, then I couldn't, because I get the following error:
ORA-24008: queue table USER.QUEUE_INIT_I1 must be dropped first
But it already been dropped!
With SYSTEM, I did the query:
SELECT OWNER, OBJECT_NAME, OBJECT_TYPE, STATUS FROM DBA_OBJECTS where object_name LIKE 'QUEUE_INIT_I1'
OWNER OBJECT_NAME OBJECT_TYPE STATUS
USER QUEUE_INIT_I1 QUEUE INVALID
But with the user USER, I cant see the object! So, it's kind of a ghost queue. DBA_OBJECTS says that it exists, but in the right schema, it doesn't show up!
Then, I tried to drop it, but the DBMS_AQADM says that it doesn't exists... I tried to recreate the following queue and DBMS_AQADM says that IT DOES EXISTS!
It's a paradox
So, anybody knows why this is happening? and how can I fixed? (to drop the user, or just recreate the queue again)

looking the query that DBA_QUEUES and DBA_QUEUE_TABLES does, I found the following tables:
aq$_queues
aq$_queue_tables
the DBA_QUEUES does a join between those tables, and the problem was that the PK was different in both. So, it couldnt show the queues in DBA_QUEUES because of that ...
but, as I said, the queue didn't exists, and I just wanted to clean it from the system ... to be able to drop the schema!
so, I doing this query:
SELECT OWNER, OBJECT_NAME FROM DBA_OBJECTS WHERE UPPER(OBJECT_NAME) LIKE 'AQ%' AND OBJECT_TYPE='TABLE' AND OWNER IN ('SYS','SYSTEM','OWNER_OF_QUEUE');
I found the candidates tables that could have registers about this queue ...
then I did a search in every table looking for a table_name [or some column like that] that could have a register about that queue ...
So I deleted those registers from there, and from obj$
Finally, all the register about that queue was gone, and I was able to drop the schema
I know that what I did was risk (TOO TOO risk), but was the only way to be able to drop the schema ...
but dropping the schema, my problem was over and I was able to recreate it without problems...
Not the best solution, but ... what can I do?

How to export and import dependent tables from 2 different schema

I have a setup where schema1 has table 1 and schema 2 has table2. And table 1 from schema1 depends upon table 2 from schema 2.
I would like to export and import these tables only and not any other tables from these 2 schemas with all information like grants,constraints.
Also will there be same method for Oracle 10g R1,R2 and Oracle 11G.

Also, as in schema exports, cross-schema references are not exported
Not sure what this means.
As I am interested in only 2 tables I think I need to use table mode. But if I try to run export with both tables names, it says table mode support only one schema at a time. Not sure then How would the constraints would get exported in that case.

Access 2013 crashed when I export a table from the access

Access 2013 always crashed when I export a table from the access to the Database Symfoware.

5、Where the access crashed I used the ODBC trace to get the trace log of the ODBC API.
The ODBC API called by Access before it crashed are the follows.
I also ansysised the log,and I did not find any Abnormal.

6、I also did the test with the Access 2010,and with the Sql Srever/Oracle.
The results are the follows.
1) With the Access 2010(X86 or X64) and Access 2013 X86,it successes when I export the table to the DB Symfoware.But only with the Access 2013 X64,the Access crashed.
2)With the Access 2010(X86 or X64) and Access 2013(X86 or X64),using the Sql Srever/Oracle,it always successes .
According to all the descrived above, I wonder if it a bug of the Access2013 .
Could anyone can help me ?

the latest patches of the Office 2013.But it doesn't work.It is down also too. And ODBC
drive of Database Symfoware is the newest driver of the Database Symfoware. Now I wonder that
if it si a bug of the ODBC

Answering your question would be easier given a screen shot of the source table and one of what you want the summary table to look like.
Is the data you want for each month in a single cell o the source table, or does the summary table need to collect February's data (for example) from several cells and do some math with those numbers before presenting them on the summary table?

How do you join two tables from different Oracle schemas using a subquery

I am trying to join two tables from different Oracle schemas using a subquery. I can extract data from each of the tables without a problem. However, when I combine the select statements using a subquery I get the Oracle error *'ORA-00936: missing expression'*. Since each SELECT statement executes on its own without error I don't understand what is missing. The result set I am trying to get is to match up the LINE_ID from PDTABLE_12_1 in schema DD_12809 with the MAT_DESCRIPTION from table PDTABLE_201 in schema RA_12809.
The query is as follows:
sql = "SELECT [DD_12809].[PDTABLE_12_1].LINE_ID FROM [DD_12809].[PDTABLE_12_1] JOIN " _
+ "(SELECT [RA_12809].[PDTABLE_201].MAT_DESCRIPTION " _
+ "FROM [RA_12809].[PDTABLE_201]) AS FAB " _
+ "ON [DD_12809].[PDTABLE_12_1].PIPING_MATER_CLASS = FAB.PIPING_MATER_CLASS"
The format of the query is copied from a SQL programming manual.
I also tried executing the query using a straight JOIN on the two tables but got the same results. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

I believe you are receiving the error because you are trying to JOIN on a column that doesn't exist. For example you are trying to join on FAB.PIPING_MATER_CLASS but that column does not exist in the subquery.
If you want to do a straight join without a subquery you could do the following
SELECT DD_12809.PDTABLE_12_1.LINE_ID
,       FAB.MAT_DESCRIPTION
FROM    DD_12809.PDTABLE_12_1
JOIN    RA_12809.PDTABLE_201    AS FAB ON DD_12809.PDTABLE_12_1.PIPING_MATER_CLASS = FAB.PIPING_MATER_CLASS HTH!

How can I make text slide in from the right?

I'm really enjoying learning more with Captivate 6 and the community has been very helpful so far. I can't figure out how to get very simple text effects/transitions such as bringing text from the side of the frame to "slide" into place. This has been a text effect of every program for a decade, is this basic transition available in 6? I'm making a list on a few screens and would very much like the text to simply slide in from the right.
I'm about to just make a transparent png with the text to accomplish this for now considering it's my best bet. Any information would be handy. Thanks!

Apparently if your resolution is too low or the workspace isn't allowing "space" for a full effects window to show up, the whole thing shows up blank and grey. How obnoxious! By closing my properties tab on the right (after many other fixes including making those pngs) it showed up.

Can we find the number of rows in table from the dump file with out importing the table in to the database?

Where has the bookmark sort option gone from the right mouse click in the bookmark panel?

I used to be able to right click on the bookmark toolbar and sort the bookmarks in alphabetic order, this seems to be missing from the right click menu in versions 3.xx

Click on Bookmarks. Top of list click show all bookmarks which takes you to the library. Left side under All bookmarks, right Click on Bookmark Menu which will show as black print (not grey) and click sort by name. Will sort in alpha order.

What is the table you want to restore?
Using export/import is supported with Oracle Apps database (for full database exp/imp, and certain schemas like custom ones). For the Apps schema, I believe it is not supported due to object dependencies and integrity constraints.
