SID changing

Hi all,
We  are planning to create a new test system from Dev and in process we have to change the SID  and Logical name of the system, how to change  the SID and LSN. After creating the syetm we have to upgrade the system is itpossibule to change he Logical system name  after upgrade thru BDLS.
Please suggest..
Thanks,
Subhash.G

Hi Subhash,
You need to backup the system and reinstall - as homogeneous system copy. Check the bellow URL and notes 224266,11692.
http://service.sap.com/systemcopy
Any how this is the another simple method you can follow(if you are expert in DBA)
First of all, you need to make a full offline backup of your system (DB + FS).
As oraSID, start sqlplus session
SQL> alter database backup controlfile to trace;
This command will generate a trace file (available in /oracle/SID/saptrace/usertrace) which will contain a script to recreate you database controlfile.
Edit this script, keep the part ARCHIVELOG or NOARCHIVELOG, replace every old-SID with new-SID.
Save the script as cntrlfileSID.sql
Shutdown SAP and oracle.
Umount all SID-name-related filesystems, change them and re-mount everything.
(You can also use soft-links to gain time)
Change user SIDadm and oraSID (user name, groups, limits, environment profile).
Change SAP profile files in /sapmnt/SID/profile.
Modify the soft links in /usr/sap/SID/SYS ...
You will need to relink all oracle software (as oraSID)
As oraSID recreate your controlfile with the script cntrlfileSID.sql
=>use the resetlogs option to open you DB
Check oracle is OK
Modify you OPS$ users
This should work for an ABAP standalone system.
Good luck
Hari.
PS: Points are welcome.

  • A Sysprep question on SID changes

    Hello,
I have an issue with Sysprep and the Generalize option in WIN 7.
According to all M/S conventional wisdom I need to run this pass to remove COMPUTER NAME and SID's on a machine that I am going to deploy to the field multiple times.  I have created on the image a local user with restriction on desktop access
via an LGPolicy.  Sort of like a Kiosk in a mall.
When I run the GENERALIZE option, I lose the LGP restrictions on the local user because of the SID change.  Now I know after reading a metric-boatload of email and forum threads about being able to copy the .pol files and the USER/MACHINE folders
to the new machine...  basically I've tried and it doesn't really work without alot of extra work after the fact.  Now I know stuff  like this can be scripted for automation... but I would like to shake the trees and get a response from the
    community to this thought...
Why do I need to change the SID's on a machine that will NEVER connect to the network behind the firewall, only thru a VPN. All applications a client/server based and or Web based.  So there is no need to ID the machine or the user.  Since the
user logs in via the VPN.  It is joined to the domain upon Imaging for any updates etc.. and registered in AD,  but after that it will NEVER touch the domain unless it is through a VPN. SO WHY RUN THE GENERALIZE PASS AT ALL?? Other than changing
the computer name.. which I can do elsewhere. I dont need the SID change.
This machine is used as a Mobile Data Terminal in a Public Safety environment, so I want to lock it down and have it autologin to a user upon powerup/reboot.  I do this to keep it simple for the officers to use.
I have an Image that works, I just want to clone it to the field.
any thought from the assembled masses??

Are you using Windows 7 Embedded or Enterprise?
On a retail desktop OS, there shouldn't be any user accounts created at the time if you deploy your source OS to Audit Mode by default. I would then create a user group and assign policies to that group. Then when you sysprep the machine, the user account
you create, specify the Group name you created (as opposed to Users or Administrators) and see if the changes still remain.
Note that I have not actually set a local security policy in an image before. I just did a test where I disabled the UAC's Secure Desktop while in Audit Mode and did a sysprep/generalize and the setting was NOT lost. I tested on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64.

  • SID change during system data import

    Hi,
We are palnning to install a new SAP system with SID PRN by importing the data which was earlier exported from an existing system with SID PRO.
As the data to be imported belongs to the old system with SID PRO, will the system create any problem when importing the same data to a system with different SID(PRN).
Please clarify whether do we need to do any additional steps regarding the SID change. Please help in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Abdul

    Hello Abdul,
No issues. Just make sure you run BDLS after assigning logical system. Otherwise you are bound to face issues with certain kind oof master data.

  • OWB repository not working after SID changed ?

    Hi,
We have an OWB repository in a database named TEST. Recently the SID has been changed from TEST to TEST_2, and now the control center fails. Do I need to recreate the repository in the database after SID change, or could I just do some reconfigurations ? And if I could, how do I reconfigure the repository & control center based on the new SID name ?
    Thanks

You don't need to recreate repository,
but you should update OWB repository table ( for more details look at this thread
Re: Unable to connect control center and start runtime service
) and maybe you need perform additional steps from Metalink note 434272.1 (for updating target location info).

  • Reg: SID change

    Hi all,
I am going for a system refresh using BACKUP RESTORE method.
But i have some doubt, after throughing the restore command system will prompts below warning that source and target SIDs are different. After this should system automatically restores the entire source datafiles into target database or do we need to set some parameters to restore into different SID?
BR0454W Values of oracle_sid are different: current 'QAS', backup bdxrjktu.ant 'PRO'
BR0455W Value 'QAS' of oracle_sid will be used for restore
    BR0454W Values of oracle_home are different: current '/oracle/QAS/920_64', backup bdxrjktu.ant '/ora
    cle/PRO/920_64'
BR0455W Value '/oracle/QAS/920_64' of oracle_home will be used for restore
    Regards
    Nick Loy

    Hi Nitin,
    Thanks for your quick resp.
For all: Please do not understand this as SID change for existing system
This is a quality refresh. But i want to do the same using BACKUP RESTORE method.
    Steps to do this:
1)I will take full online backup of souce system
    2)Restore backup into target system.
    3)Perform post installation/db copy steps.
But when performing 2nd step i have bit doubt. There SIDs should be different.
System automatically restores source database to target or do i need to change any parameters to restore?
This doubt after giving the command brrestore -b filename -m full

  • File associations are lost when user account is migrated from one domain to another domain (SID changes)

    Hello,
Currently we are in the middle of a migration project. We are migrating users from child domains to the root domain of one organization.
The user accounts are migrated with powershell using Move-ADObject cmdlet. This works as expected. The SIDHistory attribute is updated correctly.
Recently we received complaints from some *migrated* users - they lost their default/custom file associations. This happens only on Windows 8/Windows 8.1.
    What happens:
the user is migrated and logs on
her profile loads and everything's preserved (as expected)
the user clicks on a .jpeg file (previously associated with program XYZ)
OS asks the user to choose a program to open the file with
the user chooses a default program XYZ and the file opens
when the user clicks on a .jpeg file again - OS asks to choose a program again
i.e. the settings are not preserved.
Our investigation shows that it is connected with the UserChoice registry key and the HASH value under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.SomeExt
    According to this blog
the HASH is calculated based on user's SID. But after the migration the user has new SID and the HASH becomes invalid and we hit this:
"However In Win 8, the registry changes are verified by a hash (unique per user and app)  that detects tampering by apps. In the absence of a valid hash, we ignore the default in the registry."
Currently deleting the UserChoice key for all associations solves the problem. But the user has to make all her customizations again which is undesirable.
Is there any supported way to fix this? Why the OS doesn't update the HASH after the first logon when the SID has changed as it updates the SID for the ProfileList key?
This could become big issue in large migrations.

    Hello Petar K. Georgiev,
Please check the following article to change the registry key to change back to the default file type associations.

  • Supply Side Change STO Delivery Date

    Hello,
I apologize in advance as I suspect this has been asked somewhere, but the search terms are very generic...
Every implementation I've been at we've had the request to have the delivery date adjusted on STO's to match the actual availability of material in the supplying plant when known.  Using Scheduling Agreements (LP or LU) I can get close to the desired functionality, but it's still not they are looking for.
Plant 1 orders 1000 EA a week for 10 weeks from Plant 2.
Plant 1 has MRP type P3 non-fixing with time fence, EX lot for lot buckets.
Plant 2 has MRP type P1 auto-fixing w/time fence, EX lot for lot buckets.
Running MRP generates the schedule lines in Plant 1 (source list with '2' in MRP field) which transfer demand to Plant 2 via special proc. key 40.
MRP creates  P. req. in Plant 2 for supply from external vendor
Over time, some of the PO lines from the vendor get pushed out or pulled in.  Using V_V2, we can adjust the deliveries as required, but we'd like to know if adjusting the delivery date on the vendor PO line items in Plant 2 can reschedule the schedule line on the STO/SA from Plant 1 so that their ATP for sales is always as accurate as possible.
SAP documentation implies that it can do this, but aside from checks on manually created items at the time of creation or change (existing POLI) there seems to be no option to do this, but instead the default requested date remains.
We're basically asking that the supply side drive the PO LI delivery date instead of the PO demanded date remaining firm.
I suspect confirmation control may bring some of that functionality, but we'd like to avoid that step of processing if there is a way.
    thank you in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I'm not sure this completely solves the request, but the couple lines near the end on rescheduling infer the results we are looking for, but are not able to produce the results as explained by SAP. ATP works perfectly at creation time or change of the items mentioned, but the schedule line rescheduling seems not to work as expected.
I'll re-read with my SD team and make sure we're not missing something in the checks.
    thanks again

  • Portal SID Change

    Hi
We have Enterprise Portal 7.x with Oracle 10.2 on AIX servers. This is a pure J2EE instance. Our current portal SID is "DEV".
We need to change this SID to "DMT".
Could anyone help us with the steps for changing the Portal SID (for a pure J2EE instance) ?
P.S: We do not have ABAP stack.

    Hi Aditya,
Since the EP runs on a JAVA-Stack and it has a lot of information on the file system level - it is not easy to do it by maintaining properties or variables in files or in the JAVA-Stack. And even if you do this - you can never be sure that the EP system will come up properly after you have done this.
The best approach will be to export the Enterprise Portal System using Jload (which is called via SAPINST) - this procedure not only takes care of your portal database but also the portal components at the file system level (used by SDM).
Then use Jload (again called by SAPINST) to import the database into a new SID.
The details are in the system copy guide at http://service.sap.com/instguides
Let me know if this is sufficient or else I can elaborate.
Please award points if this is useful.
    Thanks, Dibya

  • Retrieve client side changes using componet binding

I have a selectBooleanCheckbox in my jsp bound to a HtmlSelectBooleanCheckbox.
On client side I have a js function that enable/disable the checkbox, I would like to know if is possible to get the client (changed) value by the component reference in my backbean.
How can I set the client "disable" attribute value in the server component on submit?

Not possible. That isn't been sent to the server as a request parameter. Best what you can do is to pass it along as a hidden input parameter, or to live with a cycle to the server on click.

  • Availability Check during Production Order (controlling side) change

    Dear Gurus,
we run our COMAC run over all production order, but due the fact some controlling user is performing at the same time some settlement activity the job scheduled goes in DUMP and block all the chain of ATP scheduled for all Work Center, instead of provide an easy message log that advice the order processed bt the user has not taken into account?
there is something that is wrongly set up?
    Regards.
    Gianluca

    Dear,
It depends on when your background job started..if the background job is started before CO settlement, then system will give error in settlement. If the ATP checking background job has started after CO people started settlement, then you will have this problem.
Hence to resolve the problem two possible solutions.
    1. You send a message through basis that Production order job will be starting from this time to this time and hence dodnot run settlement...hence system will give the message to all users.
    2. Schedule the activity in the night when no one uses the system.
    Pl come back if required.

  • How to change the SID during system copy

This blog /people/johannes.heinrich/blog/2006/07/07/new-features-in-db2-udb-v9--part-3 (i.e.  the "new feature of V9" in this group) only
talk about the system copy without changing the SID.
In reality, we often want to change the SID during the system copy. Can we modify the script mentioned in above blog
    to make SID change possible?
    Thanks!

    Hi Christy,
if you´re using export/import which is prefered you can change the sid during the parameter setting for export and import. You´ll be asked by the old sid and the new sid. For the tablespace names it is not so important because db2 is using tablespace id not the name for the internal administration.

  • OS Migration of SAP ECC 6.0 system and SID needs to be changed.

    Hi Folks ,
                   I need a small help ,
here i need to migrate SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 7 from SUSE Linux to AIX and SID is also going to change from ABC to XYZ
so what is the proposed plan for it
                   1. we have to built the target system first ... and go with the import or
                   2. after export and import we have to go for SID change ...

    Hi  Reagan ,
In homogeneous system copy its possible , its possible to change SID when you are importing but is it possible for heterogeneous copy to change the SID
here the file system is built with target SID (eg : usr/sap/XYZ , sapmnt/XYZ , oracle/XYZ)
or we have to create the symlinks like oracle/ABC-->oracele/XYZ and then we have to delete the symlinks and change the SID

  • Steps to change SID in EP 7

    Hi,
Could you please provide me the Procedure for SID Change for Enterprise Portal.
I have checked the Document for Sytem Copy for EP but there I don't find the SID Change Steps.
    Please provide you valuable suggestions.Thanks

    Hello,
I don't believe they spell it out anywhere, but during a system copy you can change the SID simply by using a different SID for the target system when prompted. I can't remember if it's during the export or the import step, but it will do all the database changes for you.
You can change a SID manually but I'd really advise against it for anything other than a sandbox or other fully expendable system. It's just too easy to mess up, the process is database dependant and system copies are actually quite easy to do so why bother?

  • Change only SID

We have a need to change the sid only on images in a VM environment. Sysprep seems to force more than just a sid change. Is there a way to build a xml file that will ONLY change the SID and not reset anything else?

    Hi,
Yes, regarding SIDs, Microsoft does not support images that are prepared using NewSID, we only support images that are prepared using Sysprep. Sysprep does a lot more than just change the SID. Microsoft has not tested NewSID for all deployment cloning options.
