Sign of failing audio hardware?

Hello,
I'v been receiving mulitple kernel panics lately.  Each one appear to have the same extensions in the backtrace and the same process.  It all looks related to my audio.  I suspect that this could be a sign that the hardware may be failing.
The reports are not consistent with what I am doing.  Sometimes even just idling, it would kernel panic.  Other times I am using it doing different things and it does it.
I see I have a few ktexts installed and in the process of removing them since I no longer use most of their related services.  I do not think this would help though as they don't appear in the backtrace.

  • IPOD 20Gb Clickwheel : Audio Hardware Test Failed

My IPOD is working fine. But it is not playing music. On someones suggestion, I checked Hardware fuctioning and noticed that Audio Hardware is not working. Is there any wayout to correct it? OR I will have to send to company for repair.
I checked every thing right from updating with latest version of software to restoring, but nothing worked.
Is there any one who has faced similar problem?
    Thanks in anticipation..

Thanks Bill for having come to my rescue.
In fact screen of my IPOD shows "Now Playing" but timer at the bottom both corner does not change and there won't be any sound.
I also run hardware test. All the test except audio test my IPOD passed successfully.

  • Audio hardware detected is not supported

On one of our Win7 64bit 8440p laptops, the audio drivers seem to be installed, but Windows says "No audio hardware is detected". So, I downloaded both of the available IDT HD audio drivers (sp50589 and sp46721), but when I try to install either it says "Audio hardware detected is not supported". However, after it fails, Windows asks if it installed correctly, and if I want to try installing it with "Recommended settings". I tried that once, and the installation goes through successfully, but the audio still is not working.
When I go into Device Manager, the objects say "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)" when you go into the properties.  To verify it's the drivers and not the hardware, I then rebooted, hit F8, selected the option to ignore driver signing, and lo and behold, the audio works. But I can't ask the employee to hit F8 and select that option each time.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Sign in failed - Unknown server error (-2) when trying to sign in to new playbook

I get the message "Sign in failed - Unknown server error (-2)" when I try to login to the Blackberry ID page of a new playbook during initial setup. This prevents me from continuing and using my device. A similar error message appears when I tap "Forgot password?" which is An unknown error has occured. Please try again (-2)
I have tried what others have done when they have unknown error (-6) which is turn off playbook and plug into desktop manager then update to reflash, but I continue to get the same error.
I know my BB ID username and password are correct because I can login to the web with them. Not sure what to do next.

Just to test the simple things first, did you try to sign in using another credential?
If only yours fails, then is a RIM issue, otherwise is indeed your Playbook failure.

  • Why do I get a "Sign in failed" message on one of my computers when I try to sign in to Photoshop CC 2014?

I have two (2) separate Creative Cloud single-app memberships. One is Adobe Muse, which I've had since June 5, 2013, and the other is the Adobe Photoshop Photography Program (PPP), which I've had since September 17, 2013. I own each of these memberships for different reasons and use them on different computers and in different environments.
I have three (3) computers; a Home computer, a Laptop, and an Office computer.  I have Photoshop and Lightroom (from the Photography Program) installed on the Home computer and the Laptop; a total of two computers. I have Muse (a different single-app membership than the PPP membership) installed on the Home computer and the Office computer; again, a total of two computers. I have run this configuration without incident since I first purchased the memberships. In fact, before I joined the PPP, I verified with Adobe that this configuration was ok and was told that they were separate memberships and that it would not be a problem.
I upgraded Photoshop CC to Photoshop CC 2014 (as well as Lightroom) on the Home computer and Laptop and everything still worked without incident. I also updated Muse CC to Muse CC 2014 on the Home computer and again, everything ran as before without any problems. Later, when I updated Muse CC to Muse CC 2014 on the Office computer, I received a "Sign in failed" error message that said "[my] adobe ID [[email protected]] has already been used to activate the software on two other computers or devices". Which was not true!
After a Chat with a fairly useless customer service agent I selected the option, on the "Sign in Failed" dialog, to "Sign me out of all other computers and devices" and was able to sign in to Muse CC 2014 on the Office computer. Later, when I returned home I was able to successfully sign in to Muse CC 2014 on the Home computer - both of the two (2) allowed usages were now working.
After verifying that Muse CC 2014 was working on the Home computer, I launched Photoshop CC 2014 to see if it had been effected - it was.  When asked I entered my Adobe ID and password, and was able to sign in successfully. Just to keep the math straight, I am now signed in on two (2) computers with the Muse CC 2014 membership and one (1) computer with the Photoshop CC 2014 membership.
I now attempted to Launch Photoshop CC 2014 on the Laptop and got the "Sign in failed" error message, which again said "[my] adobe ID [[email protected]] has already been used to activate the software on two other computers or devices". Again, this was not true! The Laptop would have been the second computer to have Photoshop CC 2014 installed under the Photoshop Photography Program membership, if I could have signed in.
Since these are separate memberships (albeit under the same Adobe ID) I should be able to, and have been able to, install them on any computer as long as each is only installed on two (2) computers.
I need help.  This is causing me a great deal of inconvenience.
The problem started with the 2014 updates. How do I (or Adobe) fix this FUBAR problem?
    Respectfully,
    WRG

  • Is there a way to save multiple audio hardware settings?

    Hi Everyone,
I use a multiple preamp set up to record. I would like to be able to playback and do my editing without having to have my preamps all plugged in and just use the computer's built in hardware.  Of course as soon as I disconnect them Audition tells me I need to go back and set up my audio hardware settings since they have now changed.
Is there any way I can save the audio hardware settings so that I can switch back and forth between the computer's audio hardware and my preamp set up without having to go back and manually enter all the settings each time?

One feature request I've been meaning to submit has been remembering the previous settings for a device and defaulting to them when the device is re-selected.  Thanks for the reminder on that.
As for CS6, you might be able to take advantage of the Machine-Specific Preferences feature to make this a bit easier.  Here's what I would recommend:
Configure Audition with your primary audio device, get the Channel Assignments and all other settings how you like them, then close Audition.
Next, you're going to copy one of the Audition preference files to another location on your system.  Your existing preference files will be located in one of the following locations:
           Mac OS X: /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/5.0/
           Windows XP: /Documents and Settings/<username>/Application Data/Adobe/Audition/5.0/
           Windows 7:  /Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Audition/5.0/
(Note that the "Library," "Application Data," and "AppData" folders may be hidden by the OS by default.)
Copy the file MachineSpecificSettings.xml to the appropriate directory below:
         Mac OS X: /Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/5.0/
           Windows 7/XP (32-bit): /Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Audition/5.0/
           Windows 7/XP (64-bit):  /Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe/Audition/5.0/
Launch Audition and make sure Preferences > Audio Hardware > Use Machine-specific device defaults is selected.  Now, each time you launch Audition it should attempt to load your primary device and configuration.  If it can't be found, you'll still be notified and able to select your built-in input/output, but the next time you launch with the primary device connected, it should load as if it never left.
There's a bit more information on Machine Specific Settings on our Inside Sound blog post.  It wasn't intended for this use, but I think it will make this particular request a bit simpler.  Meanwhile, I'll make sure we have a feature in the database to look into this.

  • Is there a quick way to change audio hardware output?

    Hello,
I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB audio interface hooked up to my Windows 8 machine. I use it to record vocals in a sound booth. The sound booth is closed off from access to the computer, so I monitor my recordings throught the headphones connected to the Scarlett.
The problem I have is when I edit my files, I want to use my speakers connected to my computer. That is easy enough, I can go to the Audio Hardware settings in Audition and change the ouput from the Scarlett to the speaker output on my computer, but now I have no audio going to the headphones connected to the Scarlett should I need to make a quick re-record. I can output to the speakers directly from the Scarlett but the maximum volume is ridiculously quiet, which means I have to really crank the speakers volume high but if I get any audio through my PC, such as an e-mail alert or an alert sound (which the monitor speakers are also connected to) the volume is super loud.
I was wondering if any one knew of a way I can add a shortcut to the main Audition interface to easily switch between audio output sources?
Or even better would be to have dual audio output sources, so I can monitor on both the Scarlett headphone output and my Speakers attached to my PC.
I hope that makes sense and I would really appreciate any help.
    Thank you
    Mendoza

    Hey, thanks for the ideas.
Yes, I am using Balanced TRS 1/4" connectors from the Focusrite, straight into the speakers. I also tried a pair of unballanced TRS cables and a pair of TRS to XLR connectors just in case it was the connection type causing a problem.
I would rather not use an amplifier between the Focusrite and the speakers. Unfortunately the Focusrite Scarlett is renowned for it's ridiculously low monitor output level, but adding a volume booster like an amp in the middle just seems to be boosting an unecessarily low signal, as can be seen on many forums. Really, the volume from the Focusrite monitor output should not be so low in the 1st place. Even when I connect my iPhone through it's line out connection to my speakers the volume is louder. I thought it was a defective Focusrite unit, so I replaced it but it wasn't, as the replacmenet was the same. However, the recording quality and the mic preamps are superb in the Focusrite, So I really like its recording capability.
The most frustrating thing is that the volume level coming out of my PC (I connect through the SPDIF output to a Cambridge DACmagic DAC and output via RCA interconnects to the speakers) is perfect. Nice, loud and crystal clear. I would much prefer to use this output to the monitor speakers, but then I have no sound to my headphones when I am in the booth. I don't want to connect my headphones to the PC as it is far away and there really is no need as the volume level and latency to the headphones is perfect through the Focusrite, I just need an easy way to either switch output sources in Audition or a way to output playback to both I think.
Thanks again for your help so far.

  • I want to add Narration to my movies. I've watched the Elements Guided Help for Narration. But when I click the RECORD Tab, I get an error message. "Your current audio hardware selection does not have any inout channels." My question, therefore: Do I need

I want to add Narration to my movies. I've watched the Elements Guided Help for Narration, and closely followed their procedure. But when I click the RECORD tab, I get an error message. "Your current audio hardware selection dos not have any input channels." My question, therefore: Do I need to buy an external microphone? I have an HP Pavilion Laptop, running WIndows 8.1. I thought I had a built-in microphone. But ,maybe not. Please help. Also, WHAT KIND of microphone - exactly - should I buy? Thanks for your help.

Go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware and ASIO tab and click on it.
Under the Input tab, make sure that you have your microphone selected.
Please let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • USB audio hardware: what works with iBook 366 clam and OSX 2.8?

I just bought a Behringer UAC202 USB audio interface. My iBook will recognize that it is attached and will give me audio 'out' settings, but it will not configure any audio 'in' settings. It works fine on my iBook G4 with OSX 4.11 however.
Is this a Behringer problem? Do I need to use OSX Panther on the old iBook? Is there a problem with the old clamshell's as far as USB audio in?
Anyone know a cheap USB audio hardware that works in this case? I want to dedicate this great old machine to some easy audio useage.... using the Polar RAM looper instrument in Digital Performer..... and nothing else..... I'm not recording audio to my hard drive..... just want to get audio in and out of the iBook to and from Digital Performer.
    Thanks!

Driver support in Panther is pretty limited with regards to newer hardware as far as i've experienced. If there isn't any drivers offered, either by the company or via third party, then you may be stuck.
The only way that i get audio in on my Blueberry iBook is with the Apple iMic that i picked up at an Apple Store a few years ago. It works fine under panther, tiger and leopard.

  • Can't find Microphone in Audio Hardware

    Hi guys,
I'm desperate to record a voiceover for a film and am struggling to find my mic + preamp in my audio hardware list.
I am using an M-Audio Nova plugged into a CME Mtraix X preamp (as the mic needs phantom power) and can't seem to find a tutorial anywhere for how to solve my predicament.
I arm the track and press record but volume is shown on the meter. In the audio harware options I have what I believe are the 4 default settings. I may be forced to having to export to record a voiceover in SOundtrack and then export it back to Premiere, a long arduous project i hate.
I hope you can save me!
    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Jon

It might help if you would list all of your Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware settings, including the ASIO settings.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
[Edit] While you are at this, please list (screen-cap will be great) your OS's Audio/Sounds settings and any settings in any Audio console programs, that you might have.

  • AA3 keeps losing Audio Hardware Setup settings...

I work in a broadcast center with a number of AA3 machines that keep losing their Audio Hardware Setup settings. It keeps switching from the LynxONE drivers to Audition 3.0 Windows Sound. I can find no documentation on this.
I've found that the trigger is when AA3 has "release ASIO driver in background" NOT checked, and the user minimizes it and plays something from another audio program. Then they have to go in and set it back again before AA3 will pass audio again.
Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks.

In the Options menu. Device Properties. Then you have tabs for Wave In and Wave Out amongst others. Also you may need to also set Device Order from the same Options menu.

  • How Can I select an Audio Hardware with AudioQueue ?

    Hello,
Apple is providing this Demo Code...
    http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/AudioQueueTest/AudioQueueTest.dmg
but how can I select the Audio Hardware? I want to write an application that should output to 4 different USB Audio Cards. Is that possible?
I am searching for hours now
    Thanks,
    Klaus

I confirm your issue as I just tried an audio CD in my XP laptop. "All Files" showed only the 44 byte .cda files and no others. QuickTime couldn't open them (error -2048).
I also tried "Open File" with version 7 Pro and it couldn't open.
Odd that I get the option to open using iTunes and it opens and plays just fine. Since iTunes uses the QuickTime engine I would have thought QuickTime could read the files directly.
The same audio CD inserted in my Mac allowed me to double click any track and it opened directly in QuickTime Player. The files show as .aiff files measured in MB's.
Windows users could open an audio CD in iTunes and then convert to .aiff (no compression) and then open the .aiff in QuickTime.
I guess I should have tried myself before getting your hopes up. I apologize.

  • Audio hardware missing after depot repair?

Damnedest thing. Just got my ThinkPad x200s back from Memphis where the main board was swapped out because of a really bad BSOD problem.
Discovered there is no audio, and so I thought I would just uninstall the audio devices via Device Manager, then let the system re-install.  As there doesn't seem to be any audio hardware, it is useless to download drivers.
    Anyone had this happen before?

Ok... well that, along with no startup sounds, coupled with no audio device (known or unknown) showing in Device Manager, sure seems to point at hardware.
Since you just got the machine back from a system board replacement at the depot, it makes sense to consider contacting them and having things checked again. Alternatively, if you're comfortable pulling the keyboard and a few other parts, you might take a peek to see if any connectors are loose.
Your hardware manual: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/x200_x200s_x200si_x201_x201i_x201s_hmm_en... will give you an idea of what might be involved in that

  • Blue Snowball USB microphone will not connect to audio hardware

My new Blue Snowball USB mic will not connect to the audio hardware in Premiere Pro. It connects well to my Mac but I cannot select it in Premiere Pro. Anyone know of a workaround or some help?

I was able to solve the problem by adding a Mono track first, then recording to that track.  It's strange I have to do this, I have a Windows laptop at home that I use with CC 2014 and a Blue Yeti and Premiere just "knows" that I'm trying to record and makes the change.
