Simple HTML chart to produce status bar

I'm trying to simulate a status bar with simple horizontal HTML bar chart. The status bar that I need is simply a background horizontal bar with red color filled with percentage of completion represented as green color on that red bar. I thought of giving 100% for red bar as one parameter and whatever the percentage green bar as another parameters to HTML bar chart to show the status bar, but the horizontal bar takes link, name and count as parameteters. any ideas to produce status bar with simple horizontal HTML bar chart is appreciated.

ISync icon on status bar vs. opening app

Ok- new to Mac so I apologize if I butcher this question- however, I have a RAZR- and the syncing thing works great. But, in order to sync, I have to open iSync and click "sync devices". Why doesn't clicking on the small sync icon on the upper status bar, then selecting "sync now" do the same thing?
As an aside, other than Quickbooks, I LOVE my new Mac- so glad I made the big switch.

For some unknown reason, Apple changed this when Mac OS X 10.4 came out. Previously the Sync Now function synced all devices. Now it only syncs .Mac.
If iSync is open, and you use the Sync Now menu item, it will sync all devices however.

How can I use the same thread to display time in both JPanel & status bar

Hi everyone!
I'd like to ask for some assistance regarding the use of threads. I currently have an application that displays the current time, date & day on three separate JLabels on a JPanel by means of a thread class that I created and it's working fine.
I wonder how would I be able to use the same thread in displaying the current time, date & day in the status bar of my JFrame. I'd like to be able to display the date & time in the JPanel and JFrame synchronously. I am developing my application in Netbeans 4.1 so I was able to add a status bar in just a few clicks and codes.
I hope somebody would be able to help me on this one. A simple sample code would be greatly appreciated.

As you're using Swing, using threads directly just for this kind of purpose would be silly. You might as well use javax.swing.Timer, which has done a lot of the work for you already.
You would do it something like this...

    new Timer(1000, timerUpdater).start();That code will update the time once a second. If you aren't going to display seconds, you might as well increase the delay.
The advantage of using a timer over using an explicit thread, is that multiple Swing timers will share a single thread. This way you don't blow out your thread count. :-)

How do I get Javascript to work? It is enabled in options but nothing happens when I select something that begins "javascript" on the status bar at the bottom of screen.

When I tried to download a file from the Canon U.S.A, I clicked on the "I agree - begin download" button and nothing happened. The information in the status bar at bottom of screen, when the mouse cursor is over the download button is "javascript:downloadFile()". I got following from the error console -
Error: The stylesheet http://www.usa.canon.com/wsss/GeneratedPages/wsss_xsl/global.css was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html", is not "text/css".

There were also many warnings about parsing of commands.
This sort of thing seems to happens whenever whenever javascript is involved.

I checked out the "Unable to download or save files" section. The only thing that seemed applicable was the "Reset download actions" section. I renamed the mimeTypes.rdf file to mimeTypes.rdf.old but it didn't seem to have any effect on downloading the file I wanted. There was still no response when I asked for the download.
I have noticed another problem that occurs when I try to download this file. I exit Firefox, then try to restart it. But nothing happens. I have discovered that in the Task Manager that the Firefox process is still running. When I end the Firefox process in the Task Manager, I am then able to restart Firefox.
By the way, I am able to download the file using Internet Explorer without difficulty.

Battery charge info in status bar is incorrect! HELP!

This issue started a day or two ago and at first I thought it was no big deal, but it's actually quite a problem! I've got a 15.4" Macbook Pro that I bought in May, and have never had any problems up until this point. But then I noticed that the icon in the status bar where it says the percentage of battery charge and says whether it's running off battery or it's plugged in - it's WRONG. It's stuck at 99% and says it's plugged in. All the time. Even when it's almost dead and not plugged in. So I can't tell how much battery charge it has left. In all of the places where you can view info about the battery, the info is wrong - it says it's fully charged, that I have a long time left, etc. but it's not true. So now it can completely out of batteries and shut down and I won't be able to tell that it's running low.
Has anyone had this problem? What do I do? Is this a software or a hardware issue? HELP!

Status bar prerequisite - will not pass v28 until returned

So, updated to 29 on both my Win7 & XP machines before I realized the problem:
Mozilla is heck bent on hiding stuff from me.
Read another (now closed) discussion of the loss of the status bar. I think this is the first time they pronounced the status bar dead. Tried the view-toolbars-addon and it's not there anymore.
So, went back to 28 and will stay there until the status bar is returned or it becomes so obsolete that I'll have to return to IE.
On my Win7Ult machine, it was easy - just the last restore point before I installed 29 and there it was. Doesn't wotk on XP, but luckily there's an FTP site that has copies of every version you can think of. I chose the last eng-us.28 and installed it over 29. I was surprised that the installation didn't notice and balk at it. also surprised it didn't crash and burn, but I'm writing this on that now and all seems OK.

It's this: the status bar is the darling of an overwhelming majority of Windows programs. I think this is like the third time they stole my status bar. Stealing the status bar is proof positive that Mozilla hates its users - by moving everything that used to be on the status bar to varied and sundry places, they have effectively chosen to hide things from their users and I find this inexcusably beyond the pale. For instance, they say it moved "add ons" to it's own 'addon' toolbar, which is NOT on by default. You see, they hid it. MY QUESTION IS - HOW TO GET MOZILLA TO STOP DOING THIS REPREHENSIBLE THING and return my browser to the way I like it. As I said in the subject "status bar is a requirement for my continued support". don't write back that I have to accept it or lump it. I'm on 'strike28' until the status bar is returned. As a side note, several months ago Thunderbird did a really odd security update that destroyed my ability to send Email. I'm now a happy web mail user and nobody is trying to destroy my ability to use their product. So, for those interested, I'm still using v28 and things are working well still. But in all this time, a couple of simple, yet salient points have arisen (arose?) in my head. 1) Mozilla keeps trying to get rid of the status bar and folks of my ilk get all agitated and it dawns on me - have they ever said WHY they want to get rid of the status bar? Do they not like me having a tall enough area at the bottom to click on to bring the window to the front? Used to be a product would be in beta and then a few tweaks and then it was finished. Yes, there were later versions (I have NO interest in MPC home theater - ruins the good stuff and gives me nothing). It's like "since we'll never finish this project, we can slide all the way back to pre-beta (alpha?) and have everyone disturbed by what are they going to change next, just to keep some jobs. Ruin the experience and ruin the reputation and then I see no reason to come to your sandbox anymore. Anyway, I see the question asked "when are they going to put back the status bar" and there is only this pseudo answer of "they won't because there's an add-on". How about "when will they stop defeating the add-on that defeats their attempt to get rid of the status bar. I mentioned that with the v29 debacle, sure enough there was a new add-on to take care of that. So, how many add-ons does it take to get them to JUST LET ME HAVE THE DAMM STATUS BAR, OK? pcG

Weird message below status bar - icons move down and almost touch dock

Ever since installing 3.0 on my 3g iphone I've had a weird problem. Roughly around an hour or so after the phone is on, the icons on the page move down (about an 1/8 of an inch) and the words "Revisar ADN" appear below the status bar. A little bit later the message will go away but the icons will remain shifted down. The only way to fix it is to turn the phone off and back on again, but again, roughly an hour later it happens again.
I have restored several times but to no avail.
Some more info about the situation: I purchased and activated the phone in Guatemala (where I live) and my carrier is Claro. The words "revisar ADN" mean "check DNA" in english. The phone is not jailbroken or anything like that. Even though the carrier is Claro, the international settings are in English with the exception of the spanish language added to the keyboard. I've had the phone for about 6 months and on 2.2.1 never got this message.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks so much for the information and the investigation on this (I saw you posting in other forums as well). Through some trial and error I think things are working finally. Here is the story for anyone else that might suffer from the same problem.
I originally tried the SIM trick and took the SIM out, put it into another phone, added a contact, and then put the SIM back in. This unfortunately did not work. A few hours later the icons had moved again. I then noticed that the contact that I had added to the SIM was not in my iphone address book, so I imported the contacts from the SIM (Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars>Import Sim Contact), hoping that this would fix the problem. That didn't work either. I turned the phone off and on again, and that didn't work either.
Then I began to look into the "Claro Contactos" issue, and went looking for the SIM Applications (Settings>Phone). Now, I am almost positive that when I looked here earlier that day the SIM Applications button was not there. Maybe it was, but I'm thinking that by putting the chip into another phone and then putting it back into the iphone, this "unlocked" this feature. Or maybe it was the simple act of taking it out and putting it back in. Either way it was there now. I had never heard (or turned on) Claro Contactos so I went hunting for where to turn it off. After finding it "Utilidades Claro" it popped up a message asking if I wanted to turn it on. Obviously I had not used the feature before so I couldn't turn it off like the previous post had suggested. So I did the opposite and turned it on. I then touched the button "Respaldo Contactos" to back up that one contact to this service and then touched the button "Respaldo Automatico" and told it NOT to back up automatically. After doing all of this, I turned the phone off and on again, and now everything has been fine. It's been a full day and my icons are right where they should be.
I mention the process because I'm not totally convinced that just by turning the Claro Contactos on was the issue. I think the whole process is the solution. Maybe someone else that has the same issue can try the process, but backwards and see if just switching the Claro Contactos on (or off) solves the problem.

Pages 5.0 - Status bar current page & page count?

How do I show the status bar showing current page and page count? I do not need to see the full thumbnail bar.
In all prior versions of pages, I could look at the bottom of my window and see my current page and how many pages are in my document. Now, I glance to the bottom, and I have no idea. I cannot find any way to turn this on and turning on the thumbnails view does not show this to me at-a-glance because I have to scroll all the way down (through documents hundreds of pages long) to find out how many pages I currently have.
Please, what am I missing here, how can I make this show up again?
I mean a quick display here, not adding the page count and numbers to a documents footer. Although, that would be one way for me to solve this issue, but I do not always want that.

I wrote a short AppleScript solution that informs about the current document page as a pop-up dialog. This is for Pages v5+ only. I created and saved an Automator Application named CurrentPage to my Desktop. Providing that Pages is running, it will produce the dialog shown in subsequent Automator screen shot.
Double-click /Applications/Automator and choose New Document, Application, and Choose. Follow the Utilities > Run AppleScript (not Shell Script as shown), and drag Run AppleScript over into the larger window and drop it. Select all of its contents and remove them -- this is just boilerplate.
Copy and paste the following AppleScript into the now vacant Run AppleScript workflow window. Click the hammer, and File > Save... pick a name, and location to save the application where it is handy. Quit Automator.

Persistant Status Bar Notification ... error 'SP.UI.Status' is null or not an object

I want to show a status bar that needs to be persistent on a page. for this I used the following in my master page

Printing to pdf is stalled at the status bar stage under acrobat 9.5.4

I have this issue about printing to pdf. No matter what program (Word, Notepad...) I use to print to pdf by selecting the Adobe PDF option under the choices of "Print" window, this is what would happen:
1) New windown pops up OK for me to name the pdf file and location to save the file to
2) Then, the status bar of the pdf printing progress pops up. However, this progress bar would get stuck for ever, not going all the way !!!!
I have Adobe Acrobat Std 9.5.4 installed. My PC runs win7/home/64bit. I am not using AVG free anti-virus. Avira free anti-virus is running on my PC.

Hi, Thanks much for your reply. Unfortunately, it did not my issue:
1) Print to file: "Print to file" did produce a file. However, this file could not be opened by acrobat.
2) Restart AcroTray: I did this. Again, It did not solve my issue with printing to pdf. It gets stalled again in the process bar window.
What is acrobat so difficult?
Any other idea? thanks.

OS X does not boot, a status bar is displayed

The system starts booting and the standard grey screen appears. In addition, a status bar is displayed below the spinning circle. It disappears after going to 100%, but nothing changes. The system hangs at the grey screen.
I have recently installed Windows with a trial of MacDrive. I have not used my OS X for a couple of days.
I had installed and then disabled Mac FUSE, however there might have been a couple successful boot sequences afterwards.
I tried starting system from a Mac OS Install DVD. Disk utility found errors and failed to repair them. I could format the drive, but this is terribly time consuming....

I have decided to reinstall the OS after all attempts to repair the disk failed. However, it is not that simple. The partition does not show up at the "Where do you want to install Mac OS X to" menu. Furthermore, erase fails as well- the Disk Utility appears to be unable to mount the disk. The bar is basically stuck at approx 3/4 for 15 minutes now....
Restarting and retrying failed.

Link URL containing feed: is not displayed correctly in the status bar

When a link contains feed: in the URL, it is not displayed correctly in the status bar.
The actual URL is

but the URL shown in the status bar is
feed://http//www.....com/feed/
IE8 shows the correct URL in the status bar. Not sure if this is a problem, but thought I would report it.

Such a feed works for me even if it is displayed differently then you expect on the status bar.

Dispalying a Status Bar from Servlet

Hi team i am in a situation i am using a servlet which will do all talking to my database create Array objects, Linklist objects and finally Dispatchs to an JSP page. From say abc.jsp i am sending a request to a servlet passing a set of keys to create a report and servlet is taking like 5 min to create report on each key, so if user selects 10 keys and submit it is taking 10*5 minutes, we gota request from users that they need a Statusbar like thing which says like Processing 1 to 10 /n processing 2 of 10. like wise

Should a Status Bar be in the Root Pane or Content Pane?

Hello, I wonder if you can help...
Should a status bar be built into a JFrame (much like a JMenuBar, by extending JFrame and JRootPane along with its layout manager)?
I have created a status bar using the method above, but it seems to be more complex than it need be; so I am wondering whether to simply add it to a JFrames content pane.
Advantages of extending JRootPane and building the status bar as part of a frame:
1. It allows the frames content panes south region to remain unoccupied, and thus will not conflict with a JToolPanes positioning.
Advantages of adding the status bar to the content pane south region:
1. Keeps the design nice and simple, so no knowledge of the root pane need be known;
2. We can use composition (rather that inheritance) to define the frame and its parts.

( I search for iChat questions when I have finished in the iChat Forum)
So the menu bar reads iChat, File, Edit, View, Buddies, Video, Window and Help
There is no Buddy List open.
There is no other window for iChat open.
In the iChat Menu you only have access to Status.
Is an item ticked in the list ?
Is this a green (Available item) or Red ( an Away one) ?
Can you access the Accounts option ? (Sitll in the iChat Menu)
Is anything in here ticked ?
In the Window menu any Logged in account should appear in the list (Between the Next Chat and File Transfer items)
It would be useful to know which version of iChat this is.
If no account is ticked (iChat Menu > Accounts) or not showing in the Window Menu, plus you cannot determine the Status and you cannot access the Preferences then you need to access your Home Folder/Library/Preferences
As the Library in the Home Holder is Invisible in Lion you will need the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Folder option (you can use it in earlier OS versions if you want)
Type in:-
~/Library/Preferences
Find the file called com.apple.ichat.plist
Drag it to the Trash and Restart iChat.
This will lose all the settings in iChat that you have changed from Defaults but there is no way around this.

How to - take screenshots WITHOUT the "status bar"

Hi iPhone lovers,
For a new application release to the AppStore, we need to create snapshots without the 20 pixel "status bar".
Cropping the image manually is not an option because of all the language localizations...

Well you are only talking to users here, not Apple.
As for your request. Due to limitation no app can run in the background thus no app can be made by anybody else to take screen shots (except one can be made to take screen shot of itself).
A simple work around is:
Take a screen shot.
Go to Camera Roll.
View Image.
Zoom in just a little bit until status bar is not showing.
Screen shot again (as the photo app when you wait will hide everything but the image).
Yes you lose a little bit, but that is about the best you can do.
