Simulation model converter: cannont communicate with MATLAB

Hi,
I am trying to convert a Simulink model (.mdl) to a VI labVIEW model by using tha Simulation Model Converter.
The Simulink model contains some parameters (Matlab variables) initialised through a .m script.
The conversion fails and the following error is reported:
ERROR: LabVIEW could not communicate with MATLAB.An installation of MATLAB is required to use initialization scripts.
I am using MATLAB 2009b and LabVIEW 2010 SP1.
Is it a bug or is there some configuration that I am missing?

My name is David and I am an Applications Engineer at National Instruments UK.
There versions of MATLAB and LabVIEW that you are using should create no problems as they are compatible with each other. Do you have the error code for the error that occurs? This should speed up the trouble shooting process. Also what is the reason for you converting the Simulink model to LabVIEW? Have you considered using the LabVIEW Simulation Interface toolkit which is designed to create a LabVIEW User-Interface for Simulink models? I have included a link to this for you to have a look at:

Why does the "Simulation Model Converter" create a 1-D array when a subsystem is converted

Hi,
I want to convert a complex Simulink Simulation with many subsystems into LabVIEW VI. One Problem I have is the one in the subject. I attached a simple example Simulink file and the result of the "Simulation Model Converter" where my problem occurs.
In this example I have two equal block diagrams, with the differnce, that the one below uses a subsystem (that only contains a gain). But why is the data inside the sub system a 1D array? Is that necessary? If I change the array by hand into a normal constant, the simulation still works. Is there a way to prevent this wrong conversion.

Hello Talvi,
I am guessing that you do not have Simulink installed on the computer where you are doing the conversion. If you do the conversion on a computer where Simulink is installed, you will get better results. This is mentioned in the help topic: Using the Simulation Model Converter. If you are still having trouble, can you please let us know which versions of the software involved you are using?

when i click on convert in simulation model converter dialog box the following error appears:
" A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

To fix the error, What should I do?

Dear Youssof,
You've shown us the Error, but not the cause of the Error. Post the code so we know what you are trying to do, and can (maybe) suggest how to fix it so it does what you want, rather than what you told it to do. [Note -- I'm assuming that you made a mistake in your code. However, it could be that you found a bug in LabVIEW -- either way, we need to see the code in order to be helpful].

Getting error 1047 when communicate with MATLAB 7.0

i changed the matscript.dll file.
but still i cannot comunicate with matlab 7.0 when trying to use an input for matlab. (other options are working.)
i can only fully comunicate at matlab 6.5.1

How can I fix Version 24.5.0 (installed today), which cannont communicate with any external URLs or mail servers?

I am using Windows XP, v 5.1 w/ Service Pac 3 installed.
Was running earlier version until automatic update at @1730 hours (EDT), April 30, 2014. After auto update to 24.5.0, the "What's New" tab has the note "The connection was refused when attempting to contact live.mozillamessaging.com." and when I try to access e-mail servers, I get a pop-up note "could not connect to mail server [e-mail address], connection was refused" on one account and it hangs trying to connect to "pop.secureserver.net" or the mail server for two other accounts.
I have restarted with Add-Ons disabled and all the problems continue to exist.
I can read the e-mails via my browser on the appropriate server, so I know it is not a server issue.
Server settings for e-mail are correct according to e-mail service providers.
How does this get fixed?

Make sure Thunderbird isn't blocked by a personal firewall.

HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw unable to communicate with product

Hi guys,
I've had a HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw for 12months now and it has worked great over my wireless network. I recently upgraded from router from a 5 year old single band router to a late model dualband wireless N router.
Since i did this my HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw was unable to reconnect to my new network.
I have uninstalled the drivers and have tried reinstalling the drivers but each time (after I select Connect the Product/Coonect through wireless network, have tried both Yes retrieve the wirelss settings on my computer and No I will enter the wirelss settings manually) but no matter which I select the printer is installed successfully but then gets stuck at 15% and says cannont communicate with the product.
I have disabled my firewall during the installation and have only used the USB cable when the installation has asked me to do so.
The printer is visible in control panel but each time I do a test print or send something to the printer in the sys tray the print job is shown but nothing ever happens.
The installation will work fine if I install it via the directly connect to the computer using USB option.
If I do a test print fromt he printer itself by going into the network setting, network test it prints a page that says:
Wireless On Pass
Wirelss Working Pass
Network Name SSID Found Fail
Security Fail
Your HP printer cannot find your wirelss router. The WPA authentification method on your HP has changed fromt he default setting.
Is there anyway I can edit the SSID network name and password without having to do this install process?
This is really frustrating. Just spent 3 hours with HP support which got me know where (they were reading the script the supplied me) and then when I rebooted and went to go back to online chat support the website tells me their support is only available during business hours!

OK time to back up totally. I need to make sure you are following the instructions in the user guide to install this printer. Please start from scratch by uninstalling all software from your computer and outline every step to make sure it is correct.
You have to use the USB cable to set up the wireless connection.

The reason we have to start over is that you started the software installation when you changed your router. You don't have to do this, but now we do.

TCP/IP communication with Matlab

Since LabVIEW unwisely depends on Microsoft only constructs to communicate with Matlab, has anybody succeeded in piping commands/data from a LabVIEW session running on a Mac / Linux to a Matlab session running on the same machine ? Use of MathScript is not an option since MathScript does not have all the toolboxes and more critically, does not offer a programmatic way of saving plots (the print command).

Yes, Microsoft has provided COM tools for the MAC OS. This article provides a brief overview.
Also, LabVIEW has a number of tools for configuring and programmtically printing and saving plots. I do not believe it appropriate to discuss notions of platform superiority. I simply would like you and future forum readers to be aware of the tools available in LabVIEW for plotting tasks:

You need to use the CHAT link in support to reach Adobe staff. Be sure you know the product name you are trying to cancel, Adobe have lots of products, several converters etc. I think it is ExportPDF you have, most likely.

Simulation Modeling with BPEL

Is it possible, using BEPL to complete simulation models to understand the effects of altering a business process workflow?
For example : I have a model that does X, Y and Z in that order. I want to be able to alter the order, and/or add some new steps to the model, but prior to doing that I want to simulate the model to be able to see the effects of changing the process before actually doing it…
Make sense?
Please let me know if you have any expertise in this area. If Oracle BPEL does not do it, do you know of any products that do?

What you need is a tool like Oracle BPM (business procss modeller) and fill this with data from Oracle BPA to perform simulations.

Question on model crashes (compiled with Matlab 2013b and Veristand 2013)

These models were compiled with Matlab 2010a and Veristand 2010 and when I deploy them to RT target with Veristand 2013, everything works correctly.
Now I compiled the same models with Matlab 2013b and Veristand 2013...they are successfully deployed to the same RT target but when I start the model (set model command to 0), the RT side crashes.
The strange thing is that I found if I set the initial state of model to running, this crash won't happen but when setting initial state to paused then manually set model command to 0, RT machine crashes immediately. Have any one come across the similar issue? I feel it's something to do with the initial condition but wonder why it doesn't happen when compiled with Matlab 2010a and Veristand 2010.

That behavior definitely sounds odd. I would expect models that worlk in previous versions of VeriStand to work with newer ones as well.
With that said several other things have changed in the interum between VeriStand 2010 and VeriStand 2013.
I see you have already contacted us through a service request, we will continue troubleshooting there for the moment.

Custom device / I am trying to use a vehicle controller model developed in LabVIEW with compactRIO (cRIO-9024)

Now I have developed a vehile controller model with LabVIEW so as to run on VxWorks operating system. ( compactRIO cRIO-9024)
And I converted a controller model of labview into *.lvmodel in order to use it as I did with simulink models.
However, converted *.lvmodel was not supported for VxWorks operating system. so after searching for this, I found out that I have to use a custom device.
I am now studying the custom device, but it looks diffcult because I dont have much experience in real-time system.
Here are my questions.
1. Simulation model in VeriStand
Should I convert a labview controller model into *.lvmodel even if I use the custom device in order to run on VxWorks operating system?
If not, what should I do after building a controller model with labview?
2. Operating system
It is silly question. anyway, as long as I run a controller model on compactRIO cRIO-9024, the operating system always has to be set to VxWorks. Is it right?
3. Custom device
This is the most difficult thing. I dont know even what to do. What functions should be inside a custom device template tool? The controller model send output signals to a vehicle model, and receive input signals from a vehicle model.

Can't import CAD model into Robotics Simulation Model Builder (LV2012)

Ok, this is starting to get rather aggravating. I can't successfully import even the most basic CAD model I create (from Solidworks) into the Robotics Simulation Model Builder. I've tried several, ranging from a complex assembly to the most basic cylinder. I've tried .stl and .wrl files, and I always get the same result. It's an error saying that 'the converter cannot load the input file properly'.
Anyone have any ideas? I've reviewed quite a bit on the simulator and there's nothing specific (at least not that I've found) in regards to errors when loading CAD models. I know the acceptable file types (.ive? Really NI? I'd never even heard of OpenSceneGraph!), and I can load some parts from a shipping example, but nothing custom.
My goal here is to create a Stewart platform simulator, and the shipping example for same is where I got some of the original models I imported. Since I can't programmatically parse the XML file that is used in the shipping example (yeah, thanks for the bizarre schema, guys) in order to accurately determine joint end locations, I tried building my own model. No luck yet.

I understand that the direct import of .stl files isn't supported, I just tried it out of frustration, and only then because some of the shipping examples (OmniRobot, for example) make use of them. Attached are a screenshot of the cylinder model, the .wrl file (renamed to .txt in order to attach, just change the extension back) created from the cylinder model, and a screenshot of the error dialog.
You'll see that I have a material property applied to the cylinder, it's stainless steel. I've tried an even simpler cylinder with no material specified, same result.

Is labview able to communicate with softwares that can simulate dynamics?

I am currently trying to use labview for my simulation, but it turns out that i still have a long way to go.
And it would really be pain in the a** if i have to make it all in labview.
Is there any way that labview can communicate with other software that can simulate dinamics with 3D model also such as (CATIA, NASTRAN, etc)

Could you please describe exactly what you are trying to do in more details? What kind of simulation are you trying to create? We have several LabVIEW toolkits that might help you accomplish your goals. Please review the following:
NI Developer Suite Control Design and Simulation Option
You can click on specific links on the left-hand side of the above-mentioned website. Particularly look at Control Design Toolkit, System Identification Toolkit, and Simulation Module.
You can quickly create custom LabVIEW user interfaces to verify Simulink models interactively and rapidly build controller prototypes and hardware-in-the-loop test systems based on Simulink models with the Simulation Interface Toolkit. (Simulink is a trademarked product of the MathWorks).
I also found the following links on www.ni.com related to CATIA, and NASTRAN. VRML files are natively supported in LabVIEW 8.20. You can also input VRML files in NI INSIGHT .

How can I have each pass through a for loop communicate with a new indicator?

Hello,
I am using 16 color boxes to indicate how 16 channels are behaving. If a color box is blue, its respective channel is running correctly, red means it has failed etc. I am continuously checking each channel using a loop, and I wanted to update the channel colors every loop. I have made an array of 16 numbers corresponding to the color I wish to have (which are blue = running, red = failed, green = completed, black = not in use). However, I cannot find a way to pull these 16 numbers out of the array and to the color boxes short of 16 index arrays connected to the color boxes.
I understand how to convert each individual number to a color, I just don't know how to use a 16 times for loop to communicate with a different color box each pass through. Is there any way to do this or should I just go for brute force?

PC doesn't communicate with HP Color Laserjet 1600

Hi, my Laserjet 1600 printer worked fine with my old pc. Now i have a new pc with Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and somehow it can't communicate with my printer. Printer does work. cable isn't broken. Driver won't install either. What can be the problem? I also tried the HP universal printing PCL 5
