    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Computer shuts down when I open itunes Store

Computer shuts down when I open itunes Store. I don't know why or how to fix it.. It used to work, now it doesn't. I haven't done anything differently. I tried to 'repair' it in the add/delete programs.

Some more info.................I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime.  No fix.   I can access the store on my other desktop computer which I also updtated to the newest version, so I think it's some setting in my laptop.   As I said, it works great until I click on "iTunes Store" then it shuts the whole program down.

All software has bugs. Try closing the Camera app via the phone's taskbar and do a soft-reset of your phone, and/or update to the iOS 8.2 which was released yesterday).
Closing an app : Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support
Soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

  • ITunes match turned off on 4s but "cloud" icon still showing

I have signed up to iTunes Match and uploaded my entire music collection to the service.
I have turned this functionality off in my iPhone 4s so that all music that appears on this device, should be music that is physically stored on the device.
However, next to some albums/artists, a "cloud" icon is still showing.
My first question is, what does this icon mean?
Secondly, I cannot understand why this icon appears to some content and not others (see below).
Again, all my music I have matched or uploaded to the "cloud" via iTunes Match (Windows) but with Match turned off, the icon is still appearing for some reason and only next to some content not all.
Interestingly, no cloud icon whatsoever shows next to any individual song (under the "Songs" tab) regardless if one shows under "Albums" or "Artists" tabs:
I am at a complete loss.
I have turned iTunes Match on then off on the iPhone4s to try and correct the issue but no joy.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi Richard and all,
Yes, the problem is solely iTunes Match.
Essentially what I think is happening (in layman's terms), is the Phone is not "recognising" that iTunes Match is now turned off.  Ie, it's not "refreshing" the songs/albums/cloud status on the phone if the iTunes Match service/functionality is toggled on then off.  Its as if the service is still running in the background.
Interestingly Richard, I noticed when I had iTunes Match set to off and flipped a track over to reveal the entire track listing on the album (as you've also demonstrated above), I could see the other songs in the album stored in the cloud (but not on the device). My phone would then start downloading these songs without me even having to select them! I could literally seem them downloading right before my eyes under the iTunes app!  Very very annoying!  It was as if the phone was assuming I wanted to download these tracks when in fact, I only wanted to view them.
The only way I even discovered this problem was when I checked my data use and noticed it was quite large. Even though I had Match off, my Music app would be streaming songs stored in the Cloud!
Hence, my only conclusion is, there is a bug in iTunes Match.
Since discovering this problem, I chose to do an "Erase all contents and settings" and setup my iPhone4s all over again.  Leaving iTunes Match off since, I have used only iTunes on my PC to put music onto my phone (and haven't switched  Match on again on my iPhone since). No cloud icons have been showing since and no weird streaming or downloading issues have followed.
Have been unable to find many other people experiencing this problem on the interwebs (but I would think there would be a few!) so hopefully it gets fixed in an update by Apple?  It shouldn't have to come down to an erase and reset to get Match to "shutdown" properly.
The premise of iTunes Match is great...our problem suggest it needs to be ironed out a bit more though.  Its also a shame as we've paid for it as a service.
Where do we go from here? How can we report this to Apple to have it fixed?

  • With the last two updates and downloads of iTunes, it no longer works on my PC.  I have tried removing and re-installing and I have tried the repair offered with download.  When I open iTunes, I get notice that iTunes has stopped working.

iTunes has stopped working on my PC with latest updates.

Well, I guess I have to download some other software to make my apple product work. Really great stuff you guys sell. I will never buy another apple product. My Iphone, Ipod and Itunes are junk

  • When I open iTunes store I only have the options 'iTunes U', 'Podcasts' and 'App Store'. I don't see 'Music', 'Books' etc. How do I get these?

    As in the heading.

Unfortunately you don't. Not all content types are available in all countries (due to licensing and in some cases a country's laws etc), and in the UAE there are only Apps, Podcasts, iTunes U and free books (a full list of what is available where is shown on this page) - so unfortunately you cannot purchase music, films, tv shows or paid for books from Apple. Are there other media purchase download sites in the UAE that you could use ?

  • My ipod won't turn on... the screen is blank but it is still making sounds when plugged in etc...

I have tried to reset but nothing happens, also plugged it into itunes it syncs but nothing comes onto the screen...

Try restoring the iPod. First from backup and if problem perists, restore to factory defaults/n/new iPod. If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • When browsing and scrolling the webpage goes blank but comes back after a few seconds. OS is XP.

Very annoying feature which has only happened recently. It also happens in IE 8.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

    Hello nosaint1961,
It sounds like you are unable to successfully boot your computer to your desktop. I would use the troubleshooting from the following article to help troubleshoot what is happening named:
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1367
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Note: See Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for further troubleshooting with MagSafe adapters.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

  • TS3297 iTunes error coe 8012: cannot download newly-purchased music from iTunes store.

iTunes error coe 8012: cannot download newly-purchased music from iTunes store.  Anyboy else get this looping error?

    Hey everybody,
I also was experiencing the unknown error -42018 when attempting to download purchased music. Additionally, I was stuck in an endless authorization loop when attempting to play previously purchaed music. All this started when I installed the latest iTunes software 7.0.2.
I run windows XP Pro, and unlike the majority of users I actually set it up correctly with a dedicated administrator account, and regular user accounts instead of just running as admin all the time. For me, that was the cause of the problem.
The new version of iTunes software required FULL CONTROL privilages on the iTunes and iPod install directories for all user accounts that were using the program. (Previous versions worked fine, so this is a new thing.) Once I provided those permissions, iTunes worked correctly. Follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040 for information on how to provide FULL CONTROL to every user account.
I hope you all find this helpful in solving your problem.
    Good Luck,
    Bill

It's so annoying! I redeemed a gift card but cannot download anything, because the screen goes blank after literally five seconds. Any ideas?

Go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info, then select Power from the left hand column of the System Profiler. Copy and paste the Battery Information back here.
