Since ive downloaded IOS 6 my battery will not keep a charge. I took it to Apple store and they restored it and my battery still only last 30 -45 mins

Since i downloaded IOS 6 my IPod 4s will not keep a charge. Went to Apple store and they restored it. ive turned every app off and now my battery only last 30 to 45 mins.Is anybody else have/had this problem. Apple store employee's told me this is very common with the IOS 6 upgrade

Shows what they know. Battery issues rarely relate to an update. The fact that they restored it and the problem continues indicates a hardware issue with the battery.

  • Stream 8 will not keep a charge

i just got my hp stream 8 tablet a few days ago and now it will not keep a charge for more then and hour and when i try and charge it, it does not indicate that it is charging, what do i do

There have been similar charging problems reported, I have not heard of a fix.  You may be in need of a warranty replacement.  Before that, you might try to plug the charging cable into another computer's USB port to rule out a problem with your AC adapter, the charge indicator should show in the display with the tablet powered off.

  • Battery will not hold a charge

My ipad 3 will not hold a charge on the battery, it has been pluged into the wall, using the provided wall charger, since noon. Now, it is 5pm and the battery is only around 40%. The iPad is still under the 1 year warrenty. Will apple replace the battery if the digitizer screen is broken? (it has a slight crack) Or is my warrenty void?

You will need to take the iPad to Apple, the screen and battery are two different problems, but they could be related.  Apple will need to make that determination.  It will be very difficult to replace your battery without breaking the digitizer if it has a small crack.

  • Battery will not pass 98% charge

Sorry to start yet another battery update thread but I could not find a definitive answer yet.
I have had my MacBook for 11 days now and after installing the battery update at the weekend, my battery's charge will not exceed 98% - its usually plugged in to the mains day and night - only spends about an hour a day running on battery.
    I read:
Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
Is 98% "low charge" in the eyes of Apple? Should I contact them and go to the store?
    Thanks
    Jack

    It's totally normal. No worries.

I have disabled my IPhone while on vacation and do not have my MAC book with me and it will not let me restore it on someone elses computer. If I take it into an Apple store can they do this?

More than likely, they can. So long as you're in the same country you live in.

  • HT201401 Hi Iphone 4S not turning on!!  took it into apple store today but they couldn't see anything wrong, ie all internals of phone looked ok just simply didn't work, out of warranty by 4weeks, what can i do?

hi, my iphone 4s has stopped working, was ok on tues night then black screen on wed morn??  took it into apple store today and they can't find anything wrong with it (other than it doesn't turn on)  i'm 4 weeks outside warranty which means i have to pay £140 for a new iphone, surely this can't be right! the phone has just stopped working for no apparent reason, apple can't fix it because they can't actually find anything wrong with it to fix.  i feel that i should get a replacement even though it is out of warranty as it is obviously a fault with this phone.  has anyone else experienced this

You can pay them for an out of warranty replacement, or you can choose not to. It's far less expensive than purchasing a new iPhone.

  • My mid 2010 MacBook Pro 15 inch unibody battery will not accept a charge

    HI there one and all!
My mid 2010 MacBook Pro 15" unibody laptop will not accept a normal charge using the mag safe cord. I have replaced the original battery with a factory new replacement, but I still have the same results.
The computer powers up and runs only with the mag safe cord attached and when shut down, does not switch from green to orange to indicate the charging mode.
Can anyone be of assistance or perhaps has had a similar issue? Thanks in advance to anyone for their insight and help. If it makes a difference, my computer information is as follows: MacBook Pro 15", Mid 2010
Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
                                            Memory.    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics.  Intel HD Graphics 288 MB
                                            Serial number. W80---------------
                                            Software     OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)

Please find "System Information" in this folder path---Applications > Utilities---and launch it. When it opens, find "Power" in the left-hand contents pane and click it to get something like this in teh main pane:
Copy everything in the "Battery Information" and copy/paste it here. The number values in that report may help us diagnose what is happening.
Also, did you buy this battery directly from Apple or from another source. There are an increasing number of reports showing up that suggests some counterfeit batteries being sold.

  • Palm Pre Plus Battery WILL NOT HOLD A CHARGE throughout the day!!!!!!

I have been a Palm user for many years and just traded in my Treo for the Pre Plus, what a dissapointment. I am continually looking for a place to charge the phone so I can use it when needed.  This is very frustrating.  Took it back to Verizon but they were not helpful, they just offered to sell me a car charger at 50% off and let me know that this has been on ongoing porblem with the PRE. I have dimmed the backlight and turned off automatic updates for most applications. Any other suggestions before I trade it in for the DROID.

Battery life on any of the current crop of smartphones will be pretty disappointing especially if you really use the heck out of them.  There are some things I can tell you about the Pre, though:
When you first start using it, especially if you add a good number of email, calendar, facebook, etc accounts, it chews through the battery really quickly as its constantly pulling data to populate those accounts on the phone.
Add to this that the radio requires more power the lower the signal wherever you are.  You can thank CDMA for that, and the best you can do is try to stay in a strong signal area the first day or two, especially if you're seeing a lot of data use.
The GPS is on by default (or at least it was initially, not sure on the VZ plus devices).  TURN THIS OFF (GO to location services app and from the menu make sure its checked off) if you don't use it.
Finally, I don't know the chemistry here, but the first few charges on the battery seem to "condition" it, and you'll see life improve as the first few days and charge cycles are behind you.
Palm has some general tips for maximizing your battery use, too.  Find them here:

  • New G4 Laptop: the battery will not take a charge

I took delivery of a new 15 inch Powerbook G4 two days ago. I cannot get the battery to take a charge. If I disconnect the AC adapter the screen goes black.I have left the computer on AC hoping the battery will charge. The battery shows a full charge capacity of 4642 and a remaining capacity of 4. Voltage went from 4.113 to 3.976. Cycles 2. I don't know what is happening. I tried shutting down the computer, disconnecting the AC adapter, removed the battery, held the start button down for 5 or so seconds, reintsalled batter, restarted the computer on battery and NOTHING! Plugged in AC adapter, restarted o.k. Without a fully functioning battery the computer Iwill have lost use of the computer in battery mode.
Question who do I call at Apple and does anyone have a telephone number for their tech support?
    G4 Powerbook 15.2 1.67GHZ   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Certainly. Assuming you have being using this PowerBook for some time, I would recommend first backing up any important files to CD, DVD, or external drive, as you will be completely erasing the contents of the hard drive using my method.
The discs that came with your PowerBook should include one labelled something like "PowerBook G4 15-inch and 17-inch Mac OS X Install Disc 1". If you insert this disc into your PowerBook, you will see an application on the disc entitled "Install Mac OS X" (or similar). If you run this program, it will restart your PowerBook and enter the OS X installer.
During the process of going through this installer, at some stage (I can't remember exactly when) a button entitled "Customize" or "Options" will appear. If you click on this, it will give you several options for your new install of OS X - "Upgrade and Install", "Archive and Install", and "Erase and Install".
I don't personally know if the other two would have any effect on your battery issues, as I haven't tried them myself in regard to this particular program. Again, I must stress that if you follow this method you will erase all data from your hard drive during the process, and lose any of your documents etc. I would recommend backing up all of your data prior to trying this as a method. The Apple Store or AppleCare may also be able to offer more information on the Erase & Install method or backing up your data.
I hope that's of some use to you,
    Tim Whitmore

  • My 4th gen. ipod will not keep a charge, wont play music and keeps freezing-did full restore/updates already - please help!!

The ipod will charge and allow me to access it/touch screen still works. When you click on an ap it is very delayed accessing. Sometimes music takes a while to show up, other times it freezes altogether.
Started a few weeks ago after it sat in a hot vehicle (not in use) for a few hours and hasnt worked since!

If you still have problems after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod you very likely have a hardware problem.  Excessive heat will permenently degrade the batter.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
