Single concurrent user access

Hi all,
I have some data in a database and am about to start
to write a simple querying / viewing application
(probably Swing/webstart, maybe JSP). Because of the
nature of the data, we are only licensed for a single
concurrent user, so i have to make sure that not more
than one person can use an instance of my app at the
same time. Any ideas how i can acheive this?

AlistairOkay. Create a facade over all your database related code and then ensure that the database facade class is a singleton class. And all the different threads perform DB access through your database facade class.

Hi Every Body..have look in to my error can any one suggest to me..what si the symptoms of this error...only the concurrent users accessing time..i am exepecting this error once in while.

Max number of concurrent users?

I'm in the process of creating a web site with Cold Fusion and
Oracle. One concern involves the lack of web hosting services
that run Oracle on their servers. So, to get around this
problem, I was considering replicating an Oracle lite database
and putting it on an ISP's server. My thinking is that there
would be little need of DBA functions and I can run it on any
server I choose. But ....
1. Would Oracle 8i lite support a lot of concurrent users?
2. What other factors would I have to consider if I set it up
as a distributed DB ?
Any help on these thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Concurrent User Limitation

Hi,
Understand that VS Studio 2008's CR with a limitation of 3 concurrent user access, am I right?
How about if I upgrade to CR XI Developer Edition,
Is there any concurrent user access limitation?
by using CR Developer XI edition with VS studio 2008, using CR viewer in asp.net web application.

All versions of CR are limited to 3 CPL. To increase this, you have to go to Crystal Reports Application Server or Business Objects Enterprise.
Perhaps the better question is; why do you feel you need to go beyond 3 CPL?

Concurrent users problem in portal components.

we are implementing portal components based projects to an customer.
we are using RFC connections to fetch data from R/3. All users mapped to a service user , through which we are connecting to
the backend
when we are testing concurrently any portal applications we are getting erros.
any ideas how can we handle concurrent users access problems in netweaver portal.

Concurrent users unable to open a shared Microsoft Access MDB database

I have a share on a Cisco NSS2000, the NSS is in Workgroup mode (Firmware 1.13).
Every user have read/write rights on this share.
When I try to open an access MDB database from this share it happens that only a single user at time can open the database.
The second user that try to open the database get a "Cannot lock file" error message.
So, when a user has the Access DB opened, no-one other can open (or connect to) the same DB.
It's impossible to open the DB using the access IDE ("Cannot lock file" error message).
It's impossible to make multiple connection to the DB using OleDB ("Cannot lock file" error message).
I've tried give full access to the mdb file.
I've tried give full access to the mdb folder.
I've even tried to give full access to the temporary LDB file.
I always get the same error message.
Is there a workaround?

I've finally been able to update the firmware to the latest 1.16.
Now everything works fine, problem solved! :)

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. InDesign files can be edited by only a single user at one time, but any user can open a file not already in use.

Multiple users accessing single application in HTML DB 2.1 with XE

Hi,
I am struggling to setup an application in HTMLDB 2.1 on XE.
I would like multiple users to be able to access the same application. I have created the application and the users but now I need to give the new users access to the application.
Can some highlight how to do this? Is it with authorisation schemes?

Single concurrent program for multiple operating units

I am working on XML/BI publisher to generate AR invoice reports.
We have single rdf report using which rtf templates are generated.
There are 10 operating units (10 ORG_ID's) and 10 rtf templates, one for each operating unit. There are 4 different responsibilities for each ORG_ID
Eg: ORG_ID's = 11, 12, 13, 14..........etc
Eg: Responsibility = xx, yy, zz...........etc
I want to register a single concurrent program. When a user submits a request from "XX" responsibility, then the template associated with that org_id should be generated. Whichever responsibility the user is accessing from, that particular template must be shown as output.
How can i register one concurrent program for multiple operating units.

A quick question about WebDynpro SLD and R/3 with concurrent users

I have a very quick question about Webdynpros and SLD connecting to an R/3 system, when you configure a webdynpro to connect to an R/3 system using SLD, you configure a user name and password from the R/3 for the SLD to use. What I would like to know is when I have concurrent users of my webdynpro, how can I know what one user did in R/3 and what another user did? Is there a way for the users of the web dynpro to use their R/3 credentials so SLD can access the R/3? Like dynamically configuring the SLD for each user?
- I would like to avoid leaving their their passwords open in the code ( configuring two variable to get the users username and password and use these variables as JCO username and password )

Hi Guy
You will have to use Single Sign On to achieve this. In the destination you have defined to connect to R/3 , there is an option to 'useSSO' instead of userid and password. This will ensure that calls to R/3 will be with the userid that has logged into WAS. You wont need to pass any passwords because a login ticket is generated from WAS and passed on to R/3. The userid is derived from this ticket.
For this to happen you will have to maintain a trust relation ship between R/3 and your WAS ,there is detailed documentation of this in help files. Configuration is very straight forward and is easy to perform

I want to display a dropdown list within a form in a JSP which should contain
all the locations listed in the property 'locations'. I ever get just the default
value when I access the property via

Well, the code you've got will retrieve the single value of the property
for the current user. You're getting the default value because the
current user doesn't have Locations property set, so the ProfileWrapper
returns the default value from the property set.
I assume you want to get the list of available values that you entered
into the .usr file in Workshop. If so, I've attached a
SetColorController.jpf, index.jsp, and GeneralInfo.usr (put in
META-INF/data/userprofiles) I wrote for an example that does just this.
It uses the PropertySetManagerControl to retrieve the restricted values
for a property, and the jsp uses data-binding to create a list from that
pageflow method.
For a just-jsps solution, you can also use the
<ps:getRestrictedPropertyValues/> tag. I've attached a setcolor-tags.jsp
that does the same thing.

How to set up reverse proxy to allow user access portal site from internet

I have installed 10g(10.1.2.0.2) AS on same machine(single IP for both mid and infra with different users respectively). there is a DMZ on which windows IIS is working through which we need to redirect the request to application server such that users access portal page from internet (within intranet all URLs are working fine). I have went through technet documentation where i found 3 ways : through this link

A dynamic Team Planner View to concurrent users

Hello, I currently have MS Project Professional 2010. Our business is looking into possibly upgrading our system but we need the team planner view in whatever we choose. We currently have hundreds of projects and thousands of tasks linked to resource pool.
The team planner view is the easiest and fastest view for the business to identify what each person is doing on a particular day, who is helping them, who is working on their project, who is on vacation, etc. Issues we're having right now include:
1) Project Professional freezes when multiple users try to access the team planner view at the same time. Even after downloading the hotfix package.
2) We tried uploading some work to Sharepoint but Sharepoint doesn't like tasks with start-to-start predecessors or lag times which greater than 50% of our tasks have.
3) The printable team planner view prints out hundreds of blank pages between sets of dates. I'm assuming they are "unassigned tasks" and there is no method of removing them. Resource names don't carry over to the second set of dates.
Is team planner view available in Project Server or the PWA? We're trying to find a way to get this view to everyone. Allow multiple concurrent users to view it at the same time. And to have their view change simultaneously as I change it without having
to upload or print a new team planner view every time I change something.

Thanks for the reply Andrew. We explored using the Resource Assignment View but it had its own set of issues like:
1) I can assign up to 40 tasks a week to one person, this creates quite a list for each person as the Resource Assignment View lists the tasks in the column under the person's name. A filtered list of one week still creates a long list, 40-50 pages long,
for 30-40 resources.
2) Our resources had a hard time finding who was helping them on certain tasks because of this gigantic list. Again, they are unable to access MS Project without freezing the document so they can't open the task and find out who's helping. Therefore, we
like the condensed Team Planner view.
I will explore the SSRS report option but from a little light reading, it appears as though this report doesn't automatically update every time I make a change to the schedule. Therefore, I need to manually create a new report everytime I make
a change to the schedule?

Mapping of single Portal users to multiple backend user

Hello Experts,
It is possible to map single portal user to the multiple R/3 user? If yes, than what is procedure to achieve it?
I have a SAP Portal where some users have 2 user ID in ECC, but I need to in Portal the users have only one user ID and password. How can I do to these users can select between their 2 profiles in ECC? Is posible?

Hi,
This is not possible since you would have used SSO to connect to the Backend. Either it is SSO or User Mapping is done, Portal User can only access the Backend with one User ID.
If you use SSO, for Example if the Portal User is UserA then you would have the UserA in the Backend too. It will use the UserA in backend to access. (Note: Single User can't access multiple Backend. Since we would have already maintained the Backend Connection details in the System and also in JCo Destination. So it is not possible for a User to access the Backend with two different Backends)
If you use User Mapping, then you can decide the User which it should use. (For ESS/MSS this is not recommended and it is not feasible too).
