Size of Adobe form created

I am a potential customer. But, had a question before signing up. Is there a size limit to the form you create through Adobeform? For an example, can the form be 7 pages, if needed. Thank you for any information.

There is no limit on the number of pages or questions/fields you can have on a form.

Adobe form created in LiveCycle does not remember user input

Adobe form created in LiveCycle does not remember user input when the file has been re-opened after it has been saved.
Example:
"Check box" that has been selected and who have registered Action script (may be that it should be disabled), seems to be reset when the file is re-opened, although it apparently is checked.
Are there settings or script that can prevent this?

usually if the values are not kept in form after saving and re-opening the form, it would be because of your code... or because it is not Reader Extended PDF...
If your code has a function which is to return a value to your field without it to be working based on your Design, it will reset any data..(variables)
Which means...
e.g.: You have an array/var/JSONobject which you populate varying on the data entered in the design, as long as you are in the actual form, without closing and re-opening the form, it will keep all values inside that array / variables / JSONobject. But, once the form closed and re-opened, if you have a function that returns a value to your field, whatever the field, from any variable in the script it will return nothing because every variables are reset. To avoid such a thing, you must repopulate all variables that were assigned previously before closing the PDF Form. To do so, I recommend to have a page(hidden) which contains every important values according to that function and you must repopulate those variables according to the values in the keepVar page...
If you do not have any function that returns a value to a field based on your variables, this is not the solution you are looking for and I am not aware of the reason why it behaves like this... Maybe more information on the behaviour of your form would help locate the issue...

Changing Page size in Adobe forms

Hi Experts,
I am new to Adobe forms.I am creating a form whose size is very small with 11.6929In height and 8.2677In width.But i viewed some of the SAP standard reports for example FITP_PLAN_FORM ,the page size is 29.7cm and 21cm width the page type is A4.
I am also using the same page type as A4.Why is this difference? I am struggling to get the page size.

Hi Karthik,
Keep in mind the Units you are comparing. By default, my adobe LiveCycle designer shows the units in inches:
so:
29.7cm = 11.7in , and
21cm = 8.3in

Hi,
You can add customised UI elements by a right click in your library pallette/ ot by dragging the ui elelments into the pallette. Like wise you can put your layout into the library pallette and reuse them. You may refer the Adobe life cycle designer (ALCD) help for it.
the second option i meant was after designing the layout in the SFP transaction, click on the PDF preview tab in the layout. Save the PDF.
NOw on developing the Java application, open the ALCD and use tools-> import to import the PDF you have saved.

ADOBE Forms (Creating Dynamic Forms)

I am currently creating a form using Adobe Professional 8. IT is three pages each created on separate form files (.pdfx). I combine the files into a PDF package.
I want to link up the pages together so that when the user types in a value on the first page that it also appears on another box on the second and third page.
I also want it to be filled using Adobe Acrobat Reader and saved, then submitted.
If you want me to send you the forms so you know what im talking about please let me know.

Ensure the fields which are required to be filled on multiple pages have
the same field name, use the distribute form option and you're done.

Populate Default Dynamic Filename In Adobe Form (On Click of Save in Menu) - SAP

We have a scenario in which we want to populate the file name dynamically in Adobe form integrated in SAP Webdynpro.
Scenario -
A adobe form has been intergrated in the SAP webydnpro application which opens the form in Web Browser (IE).
There is a save button which is part of standard adobe form menu and on click of that save button (circled - 1 in image ) the name of the form ( i.e techincal name of adobe form created in SAP {ZTESTSS} ( circled - 2 in image ) appears.
We want to change the default name to (employee_date_time ) on click of save.
We have found a approch by using the folder level javascripts (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2266799#2266799%232266799).
In case we use folder level scripts "where should we write the JavaScript code in the Adobe Form to trrigger the this script on click of Save Button (in the menu)?"
Also is there any other apporch which does not require folder level javascript as its a security issue also we need to maintain in all the user systems.
Please let me know the approch to address the issue.

Hi,
you can't change the behavior of the save button in the browser nor in Reader/Acrobat.
You can add a custom button within your form which calls a custom script from a folder level script using the browserForDoc method.
The browseForDoc methos is the only one whcih can change the name in the saveAs dialog.
Here's an example., you can run from Acrobat console.
You need to combine it with the solution from the other thread to make it work with your form.

Adobe Forms in SFP + JAVA Webdynpro

Hello All,
I would like to know if this is possible.
1) I create a PDF form in Transaction Code 'SFP' using the SAP Gui.
2) I create another RFC which call the FMs to display the PDF form created in step1.
3) In my JAVA webdynpro I call the RFC created in step 2.
Will this work ? Will the PDF form I designed in T.Code SFP be visible in the Java Webdynpro if I embed it into an RFC ? Has anyone tried this before ?

Hi,
I think it is possible to access the adobe forms created in SFP from Webdynpro JAVA.
I'm not exactly sure on how to access it, but in one of the standard SAP WD JAVA DC (paasrformstep), SAP used the same concept. I believe that they are trying to access the form template using the function module ISR_GET_FORM_URL. If you can dig more into this DC you will find some answers.

ABAP WD application using Select Options & Adobe form :Don't see form data

I am trying to get multiple PDF forms by passing multiple order numbers.I was able to get one PDF form successfully and now I am enhancing this application.
For doing this I have created nested WD Context .
1) Created a Node for Selections. ND_SELECT ,
Cardinality: 1..n ,
Selection: 1..n ,
Intialization lead Selection : Checked ,
Singleton : Checked
2) Created a Node for Output Structures ADOBE_DATA
Properties same as above
3) As we need Nesting Under ADOBE_DATA node I have created a subnode for Header: HEADER
Properties same as above
4) Under HEADER node I have created a items Node : ITEM
Properties same as above
As I have used Select-options and I am getting both header and Item data in to button search method .

Inside this Mainform I have created a small table ITEMTABLE with 3 fields and mapped it item data.

Hi John,
In the WD4A view, there is a button "Show/Hide Layout Preview".
Click on that button to be able to see the Layout.
Note that this button is next to the Pretty Print button.

Interactive adobe forms are not accessible in Mobiles

Hi,
We have a requirement to use password protected adobe forms generated from SAP ADS. We have developed such adobe forms using java scripts.
Now the issue is that we are not able to open this XFA forms in mobiles. Could you kindly provide information on this. We need to know that the whether the interactive Adobe forms created from SAP ADS are accesable in mobiles.

Adobe Reader/Acrobat DC mobile products do not support XFA forms.

Embedding an existing Adobe Form into a Webdynpro Application

Hi Everyone,
I have an existing adobe form created thro transaction SFP and its working well.
I need to launch the form with a Webdynpro application now. I was able to embed the adobe form into the Webdynpro View. The View's context is supposed to pick up the context of the adobe form automatically.
However I am getting the following error - Either your Interactive form UI element is not bound to a context or a corresponding context does not exist.
I am not sure how to proceed coz the I executed the Adobe from in SFP and its working perfectly and obviously its bound to a context/ interface.
Any Ideas?

You are right. This time I could bind the context from my interface (even though it was ABAP based).
I have one quick one for you - you mentioned earlier that when we embed an existing form into Web. View, we cannot have an Interactive form even when we check the 'enabled' property. Can you throw more light onto this pls?
The runtime error that i am encountering now says :
Adobe Processing Exception: PDF is not interactive. Data can be only imported into Interactive forms.
the source text of error is:
get result

catch cx_fp_exception into lr_fpexc.

and this exception is not caught ! I am still lost

Adobe Form, Line Spacing of Paragraphs

Dear colleagues.
I have an Adobe Form (created by transaction SFP in
an ERP 6.0 system, using Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.1).
This form contains a simple table to display some text in the form.
The table has just one column for strings (type Text field, field
format Plain Text only, value type Read Only).
It works fine. However I would like to reduce the spacing of the text
lines in the table.
Would you please tell me how this can be done?
(I tried the following, but it was NOT successful: I opened palette
"Paragraph". Under "Spacing", the value of "Above:" and "Below:" was
already 0pt. So I changed the option of "Line Spacing:" from "Single"
to "Exactly" and assigned to "At:" a smaller value, e.g. 5pt.
Then I tested my modified form, and I was very surprised: The
spacing of the text lines did not change, but the width of the text
lines was reduced! All letters were truncated: The above and below
part of the letters disappear suddenly.)
Would you please give me some hint?

could you please clarify that you have a table with one column and in each row you have some multi line text and you would like to reduce the distance between the lines or you have one line per row and wish to reduce the distance between the text in each row?

ISR adobe form unable to display the drop down

Hi,
I need to create a F4 help for a field in adobe form created using ISR.
I have used the ISR text edit - Value help , But when i run the adobe form using the SFP tcode the
F4 help is not displayed.
Please suggest the way to populate the the input field with the domain F4 value.
What are the prerequiste to run a ISR ?

I'd like to call an adobe form via WDJ to a non-SAP portal. I believe I need to do the following:
-create web dynpro application and define context.
-create form.
-create webdynpro controller to enable display form.

Pre-requisited to work with Adobe Forms:
-Check Adobe Live cycle designer is installed in your system.
-Check whether ADS(Adobe Document Services) is configured properly and running on the SAP WebAs j2ee engine.
- Acrobat Reader to view the Form.
-Create a Webdynpro Project or Development Component.
-Insert Interactive Form UI element in View.
-Create Context Node of Cardinality 1..1, and below it create nodes and attributes to be      used in Adobe Form
-Create Context Attribute under the root context node of type binary.
Example Context Design
Context
   DataSource(1..1)
    Student(1..1)
      Name(Type:String)
      Age(Type:Int)
PdfSrc(Type:binary)
-Bind the Datasource node to the Datasource property of Interactive Form UI element.
-Select the Display Type property as Native
                   ActiveX - can be rendered only if ActiveX Component Framework is installed in the client
                   Native - can be rendered if ZCI(Zero Client Installation) is installed in the server side
-Bind pdfsrc attribute to pdfsource property of interactive form UI element.
-Set Height and Width property for the form.
-In Outline Window right click the interactive form UI element and select Edit
Adobe Live cycle designer opens and Form layout can be designed.
Build and Deploy the Application to view the Adobe form.

You are correct, You can load the Data from ODSA / ODSB to ODSC.
1. Create the ODSC which are include the fileds A,B,C,D,E.
2. Create the Transfermation from ODSA to ODSC> Give the Propermapping with A,B,C,D> Save and Activate the Transfermation.
3. Create the another Transfermation from ODSB to ODSC--> Give the mapppings with A and E only, then save and activate the Transfermation.
4. Create the two DTPs for indevidual loading data from ODSA>ODSC and ODSB>ODSC.
You can see the Data from ODSC by selecting Manage.
