Size of windows in WEB Forms 6i

Hi all,
I'm facing a problem regarding the size of the windows in our application. We are using Forms 6i server with IIS and I'm facing the follwing problems:
1)     I’m having an output screen which is having a canvas width of 1141 units and height of 670 units. Now, instead of giving set_window_property (maximize) I’m explicitly mentioning the size of the window as
Set_window_property (‘window_name’, window_size, 1141, 670);
I’m writing this code in When-New-Form-Instance trigger. But the output screen is not coming totally; some of the columns are truncated at the right portion. This problem I’m facing for two or three of the forms.Since the canvas size is maximum for this one, so I thought if I can solve this one, I can solve the rest also.
2)     The next problem is also regarding the size of the window. I want to set the size of a window at runtime, so that it can override the properties set in the property palette at design time. Now I’m having 4 or 5 stacked canvases running from a single window and I want to set the size of the window on the basis of the size of the canvas itself. So my idea is whenever I’m navigating to the stacked canvas through some button, say, I write the following code in the When-Button-Pressed trigger:
Set_window_property (‘window_name’, window_size, width,height);
But the window size is not changing, it’s having the same size that it had in the previous canvas. Why is it so and how can I attain my goals?
Someone please help me in this as the above mentioned forms are very crucial to our application.
Thanks and Regards,
Arindam Thakur

This appears to be bug 2637005. It should be fixed in the latest version of 6i as well as in 9 and 10.

  • Maximizing web forms dynamically

    Forms 9.0.4(10g), RDBMS 9.2
    I am currently using the following code in a WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE form level trigger to maximize the web form window. Note that the window name is hardcoded.
    SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY('win_main',WINDOW_STATE,MAXIMIZE);
    In an effort to standardize this approach and reuse this code for other forms, I removed this code from the above trigger and created a WHEN-WINDOW-ACTIVATED form level trigger. I made the following substitution (hoping to dynamically capture the value of whatever window happen to be "active").
    SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(:SYSTEM.EVENT_WINDOW,WINDOW_STATE,MAXIMIZE);
    This approach seems to work, however, not knowing much about these triggers and my relative inexperience in Forms, I ask the following questions:
    (1)Will this approach keep the active window "maximized", as the user switches from window to window in web forms? (2)Is this a 'best practices" approach? (3)How are others handling this issue?
    Any other approaches, problems with my current approach or comments are appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    First read this thread:<br>
        MDI Window State in web forms
    <p>Maximizing the Form's active window is ok -- just don't maximize the Forms_MDI_window. You don't want your form to take up all the space on a user's screen if it does not need to.
    <p>I maximize the primary window in the Pre-Form trigger, then use a When-window-resized trigger to keep it that way. Our forms always have a single window named WINDOW0, so this works:<br>
    PROCEDURE PLL_WHEN_WINDOW_RESIZED IS
    -- Re-maximize the form's window.  If user clicks "Window, Tile" or
    -- "Window, Cascade", it causes the form's Window0 to shrink.  So
    -- calling this from the form's When-Window-Resized trigger maintains
    -- the desired display.
      W0 Window := Find_Window('WINDOW0');
    BEGIN
      If Get_Window_Property(W0,Window_State)<>'MAXIMIZE' then
         Set_Window_Property(W0,Window_State,Maximize);
      End if;
    END;<p>The above code was written for client/server Forms. Upon testing, I see that window state ALWAYS reports 'NORMAL', even when it is maximized. ...as stated in the other topic. But setting the state to maximize does keep the inner window maximized, anyway.

  • Slow response on Windows 2003 with web forms

    We are current running Oracle web forms on thin clients on Windows 2000 terminal server. We have installed Windows 2003 on one node of the cluster. When we run the same application on 2003, it is very slow and the screen flashes a lot. It takes 1-2 seconds to echo a keystroke. This is true for Jinitiator 1.3.1.25 and 1.3.1.18. We are using 1.3.1.18 on the Win 2000 terminal server. When I try form=test on Win 2003, the screen has colors and has poorer resolution that running the same on Win2003. The form has a grey background on Win 2000 but is magenta in Win 2003 and you can barely make out the hammer in the prompt. This happens when running from the same thin client with the same resolution and colors. Is there a setting on IE that could be causing this? Is there a problem with Win 2003? The Oracle application server is 9iAS but we see the same probelm with 10g.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Copying my response from this thread:
    Report in Designer fast, in Viewer extremely slow
    Thread is now locked.
    A "cool" issue, form my perspective as this may be something new to think about / figure out. Not so cool from where you sit...
    Anyhow, a few things to check:
    1) Compare the runtime of your dev system and the Citrix system. Use Modules to do the comparison.
    2) Not sure what runtime was installed, but the most recent MSI / MSM are from SP 1.4:
    MSI
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100004610752009E/cr2008_fp14_ri.zip
    MSM
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100004610922009E/cr2008_fp14_mm.zip
    Trying the FP 1.4 runtime will be worth a shot.
    3) How is the performance on the Citrix when you actually sit right on the server, and not on a work station?
    4) Where is the slow down occurring (unfortunately this will require a bit of temporary code modification)? But the bottle necks typically are at:
    -report load
    - connection to the data source
    - setting of parameters
    - actual report output, be it to a viewer, export or printer.
    I suggest a possible way of tackling this in the performance article (page 4):

  • How to calculate the size of web forms in hyperion planning?

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to calculate the size of planning forms in Hyperion smart view., but i am unable to find out the way to calculate.
    Can you pls explain how to calculate the size of web form in Smart view?
    --- Srini.

    Hi Srini,
    First, here is what Oracle says:
    Data Form Size Estimation:
    To get a rough estimate of data form size, open the data form and select File > Save As from the browser. The size of the .HTML file is the portion of the data form that changes based on grid size. The .JS files remain the same size and can be cached, depending on browser settings. Information such as data form definitions, pages, and .gif files are not compressed when data forms are opened and sent to the Web browser.
    I have not been able to find out using their method.
    In any case, you can find out the size of grid by using below
    1. Right click on the form grid and click "View source"
    2. Save the source file as "Example.html"
    3. Right click the saved file and click "Properties"
    4. The Form size whould be same as that of file..
    Let me know if it helps.
    Cheers

  • WEB.Show_Document(POP Up Window In 11g forms)

    Is it possible to open a Http inside the POP Up Window In 11g forms.
    This is what i tried to use:
    Created a Dummy Window,dummy Canvas and by clicking the push button i gave this message:
    web.show_document('http://www.google.com','Html_Window');
    WEB.Show_Document will open only in seperated window but i need to open in the Pop Window is it possible please help on this.

    As Denis mentioned, you cannot show html content natively in a form. You would need a bean to do that. However, if you are just trying to create something that looks like a standard browser pop-up window, there are several ways to do it. Be aware however, that in some cases, the following example will not work if you are using an older JRE. The latest JRE is 1.6.0_29 and runs the following code correctly assume the browser is not set to block pop-ups.
    EXAMPLE 1:
    web.show_document('javascript:window.open ("http://www.oracle.com","myPop","location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,status=no,resizable=yes,height=600,width=600");self.close();');
    EXAMPLE 2:
    Declare
         inJS      varchar2(32767);
    Begin
         -- More info about window.open here:
         -- http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/met_win_open.asp
         inJS := 'new_win=window.open("http://www.oracle.com","new_win1","menubar=0,location=0,toolbar=0,status=0,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=500,height=600");';
         web.javascript_eval_expr (inJS);
    End;

  • WEB Forms do not display properly with windows 95 LARGE fonts desktop setting

    Hi,
    We are using WEB forms 6.0 patch level 6 (We tried 6i but had too many bugs with it, we prefer to wait until at least a couple of patches are out, installation was a VERY painful experience for us)
    We still have the following problem with WEB FORMS deployed on win95 desktops with LARGE FONTS destktop settings: The forms are not displayed correctly, sometimes there are no scroll bars, resizing a window gives weird results, part of the forms become inaccesible, some forms are blank, etc...
    Can you verify or confirm that you have the same kind of problems ? We use jinitiator 1.1.18.
    Is it fixed with 6i ? Is it fixed wit jinit 1.1.27 ?
    We develop in smal fonts on win95 and recompile under solaris before deploying.
    Thanks

    Thank you all for your fast asnwers. The "Use hardware acceleration when available" was the problem, I disabled it and I will post a message on my site about this.
    The site is on-line in the same aspect since 2005, modifiyng the whole site to fit with Firefox11's default setting is not a good option. At that moment, placing a tabel (alligned to the center of the page) and puting in it the thumbnails with links generated by ExpressThumbnailCreator, than manually adding the description in the HTML view of FrontPage was the simplyest way possible to make the site appear properly on my 800*600 px resolution I used then. Of course, I upgraded my hardware and software since then, but the site remained mostly unchanged (except the index and a few files). I know it's time for a new version of the site but... my web-design knowledges are limited to basic HTML.

  • Web Form Windows all showing main menu

    I am trying to migrate a Forms 6 system to the Web, but each of the windows in the web based version show the system menu (which only displays on the main window in Forms 6). Does anyone know how to get the menu to show in the main window, and only the main window?

    Anyone who is interested, I found my own answer. Create a main_window, and set this as the console window, with inherit menu set to YES. Set up any other windows as stacked canvases on this window. You need to hide the other canvases when they are not required.
    Apparently, Web forms cannot have the console and toolbar displayed on the MDI window.

  • Time to open Web forms too long for the first connexion !!

    Hi
    When we first open a web form in the day, the time to open it, is greater than 10 minuts ( the CPU time used to retrieve the webform is measured at about 20 seconds)
    When we do open the webform a second time it takes about 20 seconds to open it!!
    Have someone meet this case?
    What do we have to change in order to enhance the openning duration of the webforms?
    Thanks

    Does it take 10 minutes to open on the server, if it takes 10 minutes on the server and only 20 seconds of that is CPU processing then are you saying for over 9 minutes it is rendering the form in your browser, you can check the browser process on the machine.
    If you do want to check or increase the maximum heap size then have a read of :- Re: Heap sizes with Planning11.1.1.3 & Weblogic help
    I would also check how much memory the JVM is using when opening the form, you can check using task manager on the server or better still use something like process explorer.

        <p class="style6 style9">“I have been working with Owen Dawson for the past 7 years. During that time my swing has dramatically changed and improved. This has happened through Owen's drills and use of video. It is because of these techniques, that I understand how to hit good shots but just as importantly why I hit a shot poorly. I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to work with Owen and would highly recommend him. ” <strong>Sam Young - Country Club of Maryland - 2009 Men's Club Champion </strong></p>
        <p class="style2">.............................................</p>
        <p class="style6 style9">“Owen does two things  particularly well, in my opinion.  First, he is a master of recording  technology, and it really helps me to see what I need correcting, and what the  new move needs to be.  Second, Owen knows what the best next step should be  in your own journey to a better swing.  I have taken one or two lessons  from Owen each year for the last three or four years – one relatively small  step at a time, and then worked on grooving that step.  In that period, my  index has dropped about 8 strokes, and in 2007 I won the Club’s “Most Improved  Player” award.  Kudos to Owen!”</p>

  • Web forms in dreamweaver with godaddy. Help.

    Please Help.
    Regarding web form mailers using Dreamweaver cs4.
    I’m a newbie to hosting and forms please help.
    My scenario: I have a WINDOWS hosting account with GoDaddy. I am designing a simple little website that I want a form attached to it. You can view this website at palmertraditions.com/contactus.html. This will be the second website I have with Godaddy so they don’t support/help with any forms with “the secondary” website. I am using Dreamweaver and a friend to assist me in my design. I have done everything they have told me to try regarding their provided form mailers,
    ( ie <form action="_gdForm/webformmailer.asp" method="post">). I also tried their php one and that didn’t work either.
    I talked to another guy at GoDaddy and he said that I should try a 3rd party script. ??? (and I should use asp.)
    Here is my html on my webpage that the form is on.
      <div id="body">
        <div id="left">
          <p><strong>under construction</strong>...</p>
          <p> </p>

  • How do I make my website fit in all size browser windows?

    Hi there,
    I should start off by saying that I am very new to web design, and have very limited knowledge of CSS and HTML.  I understand what they are and the nature of what they do, I'm just not code savvy.
    Now that that's out of the way, I've been designing/attempting to build a website using Dreamweaver.  I have all of the components and layout that I want designed and ready to go, but I desperately need help with translating that into Dreamweaver.  I've been researching information all over the web, but with one person suggesting one thing and another suggesting something completely different I'm afraid my brain is about to melt.
    Here's what I've done so far:
    Because I want everything fully customized and to use a less common font style, I saved everything from the graphics, photos, and links as .png files.  I then inserted each of those images into an AP Div Tag in Dreamweaver and arranged them appropriately.  That's absolutely all I've done.  It works great, except I have no idea how to configure everything so the site layout shows up centered in any size browser window, instead of sitting awkwardly in the corner.
    Here's a link to what currently exists: http://ikikatawares.com
    I've read dozens of articles and forum responses about building tables, but I'd like to avoid that since to me they seem clunky and kind of a hassle to deal with.  Can anyone please help me?  Thanks.
    Beth

    You need to put only the bold part into your code.
    Immediately after your starting <body> tag add in
    <div id="wrapper">
    and immediately before your ending </body> tag add in
    </div>
    Then at the end of your css, you currently have...
    #apDiv10 .navBarLinks .navBarLinks {
    font-weight: bold;
    Change that to...
    #apDiv10 .navBarLinks .navBarLinks {
    font-weight: bold;
    #wrapper {
         position:relative;
         width:1005px;
         margin:0 auto;

  • Web Forms Not working on Client Machines with Separate Win

    Hi friends,
    We deployed all our Forms on web and we are using Developer
    Server 6.0 ,OAS 4.07, Oracle Jinitator 1.1.7.18 ,Netscape 4.7
    Browser
    My problem is we configured forms to open in a separate window
    this is giving problems on Client Machines they are getting a
    blank screen ,previously we used to open forms in the same window
    (browser ) at that time we didn't get any problem.
    We are using Oracle Jinitiator 1.1.7.18 & Netscape 4.7 as
    browser on Client Machines.
    Thanks in Advance...!

    JInitiator will be downloaded only once - the first time when u connect to a web-forms application. After that - no problem. It is true that the first time it takes a little bit longer, but I think forms are working better using JInitiator. However - it is just a matter of settings how u will make your application to run. Oracle did great improvement of the speed introducing the forms servlet listener. I would expect even better performance with Forms9i. And Win2000 is not a problem, but combination between Win2000 and Pentium4 is. There is a way to avoid your (installation) problems however.
