Skype application no longer able to log in any user, check for updates, or change online status

Hello Community, Thanks in advance for looking into my problem report. First off, I'm running Skype version 7.10 (777) for Mac, on my MacBook Pro Retina running Yosemite 10.10.4.  I've been using Skype on this setup flawlessly for months.  Recently, after adding some more credit in advance of making an international call (which worked fine), I ran into a weird problem.  I can't be more specific about the initial problem, as I kind of dismissed it at the time, but it was some kind of error window from Skype regarding my attempt to add credit (which did work, btw - I see the updated balance and my bank account was debited as intended). Now however, I cannot use the Skype application in any way.  When I attempt to sign in - whether on my account (with the right password or a bogus password), or on another valid account, the application just displays the spinning balls graphic for several minutes and then reverts to the sign in screen.  After rebooting my Mac, I was able to use Skype again, but now it's back to this behavior after I quit Skype.  I've got a lot of work-in-progress right now and don't want to keep rebooting to try to get past this. Note that my account/credentials is clearly not the issue; I can use Skype from my iPhone 5S no problem, and from Skype web on the same Mac.  But the application itself on my Mac is DOA, whether using my account or another person's.  Even the Check for Updates just stalls forever. I have already downloaded the Skype app again and paved over the old one, and that makes no difference. I also trashed my Library/Application Support/Skype, and restored a copy from backup prior to this problem, but it made no difference. I've verified that my Mac firewall is not the issue - I've tried it with the firewall on and off without affect. If anyone has a clever idea - or knows how I can get some kind of diagnostic log about what the app is doing when it's trying to contact the mother ship - please let me know! Thanks again

I'll add that when I run devenv.exe with the flag /TFSLink, VS opens a Team Explorer window that contains the following text:

    I am definately having the same problem and cannot believe there are no answers or even support that this problem exists.  I never have to post on forumns, I read what is usually readilly availiable for the craziest of problems. 
    Anyways, the problem is just that, I can toggle off a individual app's setting of cellular data availability, but it changes right back on rescreening.  After restarting, resetting etc, it seems that the big Apple Apps are the biggest offenders.  Music is a very important one, Podcasts can kill you very quickly, app store, Photos, Facetime, Stocks?!?!?!
    When one searches for solutions I have to see hundreds of links to "How great is ios7, you can turn off cellular data for individual apps FOR DUMMIES!".  I am a dedicated apple fool since the Apple IIe (long time), but when they run afowl it is usually really bad.  Why offer an on/off switch if the setting is always on?
    I am writing just to add support to the existence of this problem, not so much for people to offer ideas of solutions as I now believe it is in the coding.

  • I cannot update iTunes. In instructions for updating it says to go to help and then click check for updates. Guess what! No help options within iTunes. I need to be able to syn my iPod touch 5 but I cant without the newest iTunes. I am sick of this crap.

    I am EXTREMELY tired of having to deal with this. iTunes has been an issue since I got it and unfortunately whenever I want to update my computer's iTunes account it demands I download a new format (which has continually gotten worse and WORSE over time). I wish things would not be updated so frequently. As soon as I have the new format working decently (ONLY decently, I have never had an apple product that has worked as it is stated it should) another update comes along. And THIS time, I cannot download it. First problem: I open iTunes. It says I need to update for my ipod to work. I think "great. I click ok and it will do it automatically!" Oh boy was I wrong. I don't do anything. I search up how to update things. It says ON THIS SITE: Go to help in the itunes store. THERE. IS. NO. CLEARLY. VISIBLE. HELP. SECTION. I have looked for FAR to long for this to be worth my time.

    Okay - let's cut to the chase...
    If the Menu Bar (File, Edit... Help) shown in my screenshot below is not visible, use CTRL+B to display it. Then click on Help/Check for Updates. If one is available, you will be able to select it at this time.
    Note the item at the bottom of the list; About iTunes. Selecting that will show you which version of iTunes you are using.
    An alternative method to display the Menu Bar is click on the box in the top left of your iTunes window...

  • Adobe Application Updates, CC says no. Go to Bridge and check for updates, 2 updates available.

    So this morning on all our systems, Adobe Application Update notifies us of 2 updates, but when I open CC it shows nothing. So I open Bridge and say check for updates and sure enough there are photoshop updates available for download. Is this normal? Or is the CC application not working for some reason?

    TDRonline, Looks like CC desktop app was not able to detect the update for some reason. Might be some temporary issue.
    Would suggest you to sign out and sign in back and then check.

  • Podcasts no longer appear under ipod device in I tunes library.  I can access podcasts on my ipod but I CANNOT access podcasts on I tunes library.  I have disconnected and reconnected.  I have restored my ipod.  I have checked for updates. What else?

    'Podcasts' under Ipod device disappeared in Itunes library.  I can't manage my podcasts on ipod via I tunes library.  I can access the podcasts on my ipod (5th generation), itself. I can access and manage music.   I can add more podcasts to ipod.  The podcast icon reappears with only the newly added podcasts.   When I disconnect ipod and reconnect ipod, 'podcasts' no longer appears under the device.  So I am unable to manage my podcasts on I tunes library which means I can't delete podcasts from I tunes library.  I can only add podcasts. I have disconnected and reconnected ipod.  I have checked for updates.  I have restored the ipod to it's original settings.  My next step will be to install and reinstall I tunes.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    It seems that CVS (or any other Versioning support tools) SQLDev extension are no longer available via "Check for Updates".
    I've just downloaded 2.1.1.64 and tried to setup whatever extensions we used to use and they simply do not appear in the list.
    Can this extension be downloaded as a bundle and installed from local file? Where from?

    FYI. I've just downloaded SQLDev 3EA release and I'm still facing the same problem.
    Default Update Centers available are:
    1) Oracle SQL Developer ( http://www.htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=raptor:updates )
    2) Oracle Extensions ( http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/162031.xml )
    3) Third Party SQL Developer Extensions ( http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/162031.xml )
    When I mark the first two all I get at the next screen is two entries:
    Oracle Product Extensions for SQL Developer   (Hide) (- which is simply a header I suppose)
    Oracle Rdb Extension 7.3 (Details)
    The CVS extension jars can be copied from previous SQLDev installations (download used to work a couple of releases back), but it should be still available for download via "Check for Updates" or bundled with the product itself.

    Try to download the updates manually from the Adobe website. I believe you need something like Acrobat 9.2.x for full Windows 7 compatibility.

    I'm using JDev 10.1.3.04; from Help | Check for Updates menu I checked to see if I could upgrade to 10.1.3.1 but it did not provide this option? Should I be able to upgrade this way? If not how?
    Also, secondary question to confirm - will I need to re-install the Tomcat ADF Runtime components? anything else?

    check for upgrades is used for Service Updates (SU) only. JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 is a new JDeveloper release that also includes upgrades applied to the runtime

    We work on a domain that uses Symantec Management console to administrate our patch enviroment. We have windows updates disabled. But our Windows 8 machines get this message once a month

    Just wondering if anyone knows which GPO to use to disable this setting as I have been unable to find it.

    Hi,
    You can turn off the message by GUI in Control Panel\System and Security\Action Center, in the right pane, click "Change Action Center settings", then untick the "Windows Update" option.
    For GPO, you can disable all balloon notifications:
    User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Start Menu and Taskbar\Turn off all balloon notifications
    Or remove Action Center icon itself
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\Remove the Action Center icon
    And I haven't found a GPO to turn on\off a specific message mentioned in the action center, but the setting for the message is related with registry key under
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Action Center\Checks
    but the value under the key is binary, hard to control, if you have interest, you can export the key from a preference pc, then deploy the GPO via
    User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Registry
