Skype didn't recognize sign in details

i just reset my password so i know i've got the correct password, but i keep getting the message "Sorry, we didn't recognize your sign-in details. Please check your Skype Name and password, then try again."
i can login on skype.com just fine, it's just the skype app that's giving me trouble for some reason.

Not sure if this will help, but try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

    My Skype is not working since a week now. When i tried to log on to Skype from my Macbook Air (Mid 2011) it says "Skype didn't recognize your sign in details please check your Skype name and password then try again". I have done the following steps but issue still persist
    Operating System: Mevericks 10.9.4
    Step No:1
    I deleted the shared.xml file from library
    Reinstalled Mevericks then formatted my Harddrive and downgraded to Mountain lion X
    Issue is still there and I am hopeless because I have contacted the Skype support and searched the google for help, read different blogs but I haven't found any Solution.

    Click on the Sign in link.
    It's possible you will need to reset your password.
    Also verify that you are running the latest version (6.19.0.442) of Skype. http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer/

    To attempt to resolve this problem: 1.  Exit Skype completely. 2.  In Finder navigate to the following location:   "~/Library/Application Support/" 3.  There you will find a folder named "Skype".  Rename it to something like "Skype_old"* 4.  This effectively resets your local Skype profiles.  Restart Skype and see if you can sign in. 5.  Signing in will effectively recreate that folder.  Hopefully you will be able to sign in. If you need to recover your previous history you would have to: 1.  Exit Skype completely. 2,  Navigate to the  "~/Library/Application Support/Skype_old" folder, find a folder with your Skype name. (i.e. ~/Library/Application Support/Skype_old/YourSkypeName) 3.  Inside that folder you will find a main.db file (your history file).  Copy that folder to the folder with your Skype name in  "~/Library/Application Support/Skype" overwriting the newer main.db file that was just created. (i.e. ~/Library/Application Support/Skype/YourSkypeName/main.db) 4.  Once replaced, you can restart Skype and your original history will be restored.  *Be aware if you are only having an issue with one particular Skype account profile you can just try to rename the singular problematic profile (i.e. ~/Library/Application Support/Skype/YourSkypeName to  ~/Library/Application Support/Skype/YourSkypeName_old).  The instructions would be the same but you would not have a "Skype_old" folder only a Skype folder and YourSkypeName_old folder.

    2nd post about the same issue. i am crrently raising this issue logged in with the same username and password of my skype by which im triyng to log in for my skype. i remember my username and password pretty well but it shows me the same error for past 3 weeks.
    it is only my Macbook Pro which is facing this issue where as the same username and password is ok while i use it on a desktop or mobile or an ipad.
    i did format my macbook pro once i reinstalled the enitre OS yosemite once and uninstalled old skype version and downloaded the new one. but this problem is still there.
    i would really appreciate if someone from the team can sort this issue out cause i cant use skype at all on my mabook. its not signing in with any skype ID's.

    Hello. I am using Skype since its launch and yesterday started showing this message everytime I try to log in. I tried logging in on the Skype website but that didn't work aswell. I have Avast! antivirus. I created another account to keep in touch with my friends and this one worked when I tried to enter the password and the login. Need help! I have a Windows 7 32 bits. My skype account is not linked with my Microsoft account, I tried "linking" them together but it happens the same message. In the Skype website, the message it shows is: "The connection has failed".

    same problem here. I've been using Skype with my Skype name for like more than 10 years. 
    Now, 5 minutes ago, it just disconnected and I cannot login with that Skype name anymore. Nor in Skype, nor on the web page.  The message i get is : 
    Sorry, we didn’t recognize your sign-in details. Please check your Skype Name and password, then try again.
    I have also tried another accounts and they work normally. My Skype name seems like just dissapeared. 
    Please solve this problem !

    Hello! I have a microsoft account. To be honest, not sure whether I had a skype account too with this microsoft account. When I try to sign in to skype desktop, I get the error message "Sorry, we didn't recognize your sign-in details". I can sign in fairly using microsoft account on the www.skype.com website but not on desktop client. I am using windows xp sp3. Also when I try to recover password or username for skype, it only gives one of the microsoft account and prompt me to reset microsoft password if I try to reset password. Please help me out. I have tried reinstalling skype and reinstalling. I can sign in other skype accounts here. Those are not  microsoft account but skype accounts.

    your Microsoft account (MSA) works as a your Skype account. Or rather: Your MSA is your Skype account So just make sure you click "Microsoft account" on the blue Skype sign in page and then enter your email and MSA password to sign in to Skype.
    When you want to recover the password for this MSA you indeed need to take the recovery flow for your MSA and not a Skype one.

    Recently like a day ago, I was in a skype call with a couple of friends. Then I was in there for about 1 minute after that it kicked me out of the call and kicked me out of my account saying Sorry, we didn't recognize your sign-in details,Please check your skype name and password,then try again. when I tried to get in.     Few days ago I was kicked of my skype. Trying to log in again produced the same result: we do not recognize your sign in details. Meanwhile I created a new account, but lost important contacts. The problem is that I can not access registered email account anylonger in order to restore sign in details. I remember the  registered email.

    Skype 6.3 is more than 1½ years old version. All Skype versions older than 6.14 are now retired and can no longer be used. The currently latest Skype version is 6.21. You need to update your Skype.

    If you have the original iPad, 5.1.1 is as high as you can go.

    I am not able to login to skype from my windows laptop. It wont accept any ID, not just mine. However i can access my account from other devices.     Try to reenter you rmail account details in the iPhoto Preferences > Accounts tab.
    Delete the mail account entry by pressing the "-" button below the left column in the panel, then add it again by pressing "+".
    Also, it is recommended, to set "Mail" as mail client in the iPhoto preferences, and not iPhoto. This has been working much more reliably lately.

    I am so distrusting of e-mails received from several websites I maintain accounts with, being that spoof e-mail is so popular, that upon receipt, I will not follow any links provided (redirects happen so fast that it is not easy to watch what is happening) and instead sign in to the website itself and check my account details.  I suggest you do the same with your Skype account: sign on to your account dashboard, make sure that your account's registered e-mail address is accurate and valid, and then proceed to change your account password.
