Skype for Sony Playstation 3 ( PS3 ) and for Sony Playstation 4 ( PS4 )

There is a huge amount of Sony Playstation users who would like to have Skype available for their consoles. The client is already available for PSP and PS Vita. There are ton of thread with this request, but none of them has received a clear answer and that's why I open a new thread. We know that there are a lot of alternatives like smart TV, Blu-ray and other compatible devices, but the request is clear : could you please let us know if there is any plan to implement a client for Sony Playstation (PS3 and/or PS4) or not? If not is it possible to know why?Thank you,Dashie

Yea that true MSFT own Skype but Sony own the Blu-ray which now available on XBox One. So fair is fair that MSFT should return a favour to give Sony 'Skype' as well.......Ya should had done your research before making that comment. And you should have a basic understanding of business before making yours. Return a favour? Really? Blu-ray is a standard. It's in Sony's best interest to allow it to be available on more platforms, so it moves closer to superceding the DVD, AND they get to make revenue from licensing the standard as a result. In the case of Xbox One, Sony make between $2 and $3 per unit according to a Wedbush Securities estimate.
Skype is a service. And for most users, a free one at that. The revenue from it comes from people paying for the premium services such as inbound numbers, which are very unlikely to be users basing their presence on video game consoles. Given the climate of the next gen releases, it is in Micorsoft best interests to give their console offering a certain exclusive. No matter how small. In short. Comparing Blu-ray to Skype is rediculous. Just write it off as a shame that business is business.

  • Best 32" lcd for ps3 and tv

    Hi all
I have been searching forever for the best 32" lcd to be used for ps3 and hdtv. I also will be using the blue-ray player alot. I was very disappointed in the 32" sony Braviakdl32l5000 i looked at today .  Any help would be so appreciated!!!
    Thanks

What didn't you like about it? There is a 1080p model with 120hz if you want to take a look at it. At that size, there's not much in the way of image quality but the one you looked at is ideal simply because it doesn't have 120hz processing which screws with your gaming image and introduces lag.

  • TS1702 Every time I install Skype for iPad it rejects my username and password why

Skype for iPad rejects my current user name that I use for Mac and iPhone and password.    Why do I have to create a whole new account for Skype.  Is it possible to use all three  devices
with the same username and password?

Yes, I have desktop, laptop and iPad all working satisfactorily with the same Skype account!
It should make no difference but have you tried signing out on one of the other devices before trying the iPad?

  • Skype for Business and "normal" skype on same lapt...

The company I work for have just replaced Lync with Skype for Business, but how can I have Skype for Buiness and my "normal" Skype on the same laptop

They are two different programs.  I have both installed on several machines without issue.  I doubt you can use both simultaneously fully (like being on a video call on both at the same time, I don't know why you would) but they can definitely be installed side by side on the same computer.

  • Skype for Modern Windows and Skype for Windows Desktop on a tablet???

Hi All. I am a newby here so please be patient I have a 6 month old Toshiba Encore that comes installed with "Skype for Modern Windows". When I opened Skype today I received an advice/advert saying that this service will cease July 7 and I should uninstall and update to "Skype for Windows Desktop". News flash.... I have a tablet and it is telling me to install a Desktop version? Is this correct, dispite that my device is a (Windows 8.1) OS tablet, am I still required to make the conversion? Any advice most appreciated.

And just in case your next question is "Why". I am just a user like you so no inside knowledge but from what I have read it is partly down to the "Modern" version actually being based on "Old" tech, so it couldn't intergrate with the cloud based future of Skype and partly down to it isn't probably worth fixing (It had a lot of issues that I could see). Unfortunatly for some it is a bit inconvenient that it's being killed off before Windows 10 is released. The one thing I liked about the "Modern" version was the intergration with for example your contacts in the people app, but if you uninstall (Or when it gets killed off in a couple of weeks) you lose that intergration. I know you still have it in Outlook with intergration for the desktop version but to be honest Outlook isn't great on a seven inch tablet either. From my understanding when 10 is finally here and Skype catches up there will be full Skype intergration with your contacts again (Although I could be wrong and that is for the WP). Anyway, I for one would love MS to consider the universal app idea based on the WP version for smaller or all tablets. Maybe someone from Skype will reply?

  • As I try to download apps (Skype) for my new iPhone 5s, a message comes that says that my id is not valid for US and I need to switch to Bangladesh store, there is no Bangladesh store. How to download apps to my iPhone? I created ID without credit card

As I try to download apps (e.g. Skype) for my new iPhone 5s, using my existing apple ID, it gives a message that my id is not valid for US store and I need to switch to Bangladesh store. There is no bangladesh Store. I created my id without credit card (payment option-none). How can I now downlod from itunes/apps store?

If you're in Bangladesh, then there is no iTunes Store that you can use. Each country's iTunes Store is limited to those actually in that country. E.G from the terms of use for the iTunes Store:
The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance.
When or indeed if Apple will ever be able to open an iTunes Store in Bangladesh no one here will know.
If you are physically in the US using a US-based account, post back and we'll go from there.
    Regards.

  • Any chance for the "away" and "busy" statuses to make it back into Skype for Android?

I recently realized that the new (well new as of early July) Skype for Android is missing the "away" and "busy" statuses (and perhaps some other one as well). I've seen other users around this forum mentioning the same thing, but it's unclear to me whether this was done intentionally or not. Are there any chances for these statuses to be added back? And if not what has been reasoning behind the decision of taking them out? - Adriano

There is another topic, addressing this issue and also explaining it pretty good:http://community.skype.com/t5/Android/Regression-in-4-0-Away-and-Busy-statuses-not-visible/td-p/1729768Unfortunately it doesn’t have much kudos either, even though it is pretty old. The worst about it is, that you aren’t even able to see the real status of your contacts:                Contacts who have their status set to “away” are shown as online.                Contacts who have it set to “busy” are shown as offline. (Which is even worse…)This simply can’t be intentional.  Also.. It's been possible in older skype versions for android, it's also possible on ios.. So where is the need to get rid of the busy/away status in the new android version?

  • How would I request skype for two sip domains and one edge

I have a could logistic questions.
    scenario:
1 edge server : lync-edge-access.domain1.com (fqdn of access server)
    2 sip domains: domain1.com and domain2.com
public certificate with SN: lync-edge-access.domain1.com as well as all of the SAN's including sip.domain1.com and sip.domain2.com
    3 A records with the same IP: sip.domain1.com, sip.domain2.com, lync-edge-access.domain1.com.
2 srv records pointing to sip.domain1.com and sip.domain2.com on port 5061. (since they have the same IP as lync-edge-access.domain1.com and that servers certificate has names for all of them I figure this is a correct method to set them up.
My first question was when I requested my federation with Skype via Microsoft with my license agreement number it asked me for the fqdn of my access edge server. I figured this would be lync-edge-access.domain1.com. It then asked me for my sip domains and
I added two, domain1.com and domain2.com. Did I do this correctly or should I have put in two requests, one for fqdn of sip.domain1.com and sip domain of domain1.com and one for sip.domain2.com and domain domain2.com. Or should I change my srv records to both
    point to lync-edge-access.domain1.com?
Currently when I am looking for contacts in Skype I cant find my accounts and vice versa if I add an account in lync for Skype it just reports offline. so I figure I did something wrong with my logic above. I can easily request an update but I want to make
sure I get it right this time.
    Thanks
    Loren

    Hi Loren
As far as I know, you could add one or more SIP domain names at the same time.
To initiate the provisioning process for Lync-Skype connectivity:
1.Sign in to the website, https://pic.lync.com, using your Microsoft Windows Live ID.
2.Select the Microsoft licensing agreement type.
3.Select the check box, verifying that you have read and accept the Product Use Rights for Lync Server.
4.On the Initiate a Provisioning Request page, click the appropriate link to initiate a provisioning request:
5.On the Specify Provisioning Information page, enter the Access Edge service FQDN. For example, accessedge.contoso.com.
6.Enter at least one or more SIP domain names, and then click Add.
    7.In the list of
    Public IM Service providers, select
    Skype, and click
Next to add contact information, and submit the provisioning request.
Click the link below for more information.
Accessing the Lync Server public IM connectivity provisioning site from Lync Server 2013
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn440174.aspx
    Hope it can be helpful.
    Best regards,
    Eric
