Skype hijacked

My account has been hijacked twice this year. I use Norton Antivirus 360, I have a very difficult password and have not had any other problems with any other account or application. Someone charges my account and calls China 8618674564579 and then I am left hanging with the bill. Im sorry but I am done with Skype. There are plenty of competitive companies out there I can use. http://gigaom.com/2011/05/10/9-great-alternatives-to-skype-for-voip-and-video-chat/
Dont let skypes poor software security cost you money!!

The thing to do immediately is to change your password. If you have auto-recharge, turn it off. If you have a stored credit card, delete it. Skype has apparently had a major security breach and anyone with auto-recharge is getting hit hard by thieves in Europe. Way to go, Microsoft!

I am extremely close to shooting my computer because skype has hijacked my browser. I keep getting a new tab opened...randomly...which points to
    http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer/?intsrc=client-_-windows-_-6.14-_-abandoni...
This tab opens without any prompt or event that i can see. In fact a new tab just opened as I was writing this. When I am away from my computer I will come back and like 5-10 new tabs will be open.
How do I get skype to stop acting like malware? Why even put this annoying "feature" into the program?
    Developers of Skype:
NO ONE WANTS TO HAVE SKYPE OPEN PAGES IN THEIR BROWSER WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION WITH NO OBVIOUS WAY TO TURN THE "FEATURE" OFF. THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF MALWARE, A PROGRAM THAT TAKES OVER YOUR COMPUTER AND DOES ACTIONS YOU DO NOT WANT IT TO.

Please tell me how to get my browser back.  If you are going to hijack my browser, at least provide directions to how to change it back.
    Installing Skype
changed my home page of chrome (these I know how to change)
changed my home page of firefox (these I know how to change)
changed my new tab and new window to Microsoft trash.
This is why people grow to hate certain companies.

My skype was hijacked and its password changed.
When  I tired to login on Moday Dec 16, I was not able to do that.
Then I reset my password and found that someone has made lots of calls to russian numbers from my account in usage history on Dec 15.
How is someone able to get my password to Hijack.
Please investigate, it may be tip of a big securtiy compromise.

Hi, gyskype, and welcome to the Community,
Whilst I make no claim whatsoever of being a white hat hacker, I can share with you that unfortunately there are a lot of password crackers and other tools those with nefarious intent use.  Ensure your passwords are strong and that you keep your computer/laptop updated, regularly running your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware suite using the latest virus signature files available.
I do make use of my tin hat, though: I refuse to use any unsecured WiFi hotspot.  Period.

  • Skype hijacks complete audio and results in shutdo...

    hi there,
I hope you can help me with this rather anoying issue. I installed the newest skype version a couple of hours ago and made a call, and all seemed fine. When I tried to start watching a video the sound was on mute, also listening to online radio didn't work. Even though I tried all possible combinations and settings both on skype and on my system audio there seems to be no solution for this. However, when I try to call someone the ringing sound of skype starts and accordingly the other sounds work as well. Since I won't be able to bother all my contacts just to watch a film, i really hope you have a suggestion where I can keep skype on the system (windows xp, yes i know....)  Thanks a million

    Hi,
if you have recorded the whole band through microphones, the earlier versions are ambient sound pickup from the mics of the other tracks. This can even occur if a singer wears a very loud headphone which you can hear through the vocal microphone. Just make sure during your recording session that all instruments that should be recorded very precise - without ambient sound - are recorded separately in a dry recording booth.

  • Wengo; Skype! No working sound device

    Hi!
I tried to use wengo phone and skype on my PC but whenever I want to make a call or receive a call I can not hear anything and my mic also doesn't work. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is it because of the old OSS? I thought wengo already uses alsa (I'm using the Beta version 2)? The sound device works fine when playing music and stuff.... it just won't work using the VoIP software!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Yes, I already installed skype-hijacker and it didn't work.
It seems that I cannot record things in general. But I already checked my settings in KMix and the mic is activated for recording. I also can hear that it's activated when testing it. I don't know why it doesn't work from within the applications.
I also cannot hear anybody in Skype or Wengophone but listening to music is not a big deal (I don't do this the same time, VoIP and listening to music so the apps don't have to share any ressource)....
    What else could it be?

  • Skype blocks keyboard shortcut ctrl+cmd+alt+arrow up

This is to continue the old and unresolved issue:http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac-archive/Skype-blocks-keyboard-shortcut-ctrl-cmd-alt-arrow-up/td-p/636043 The suggested solution does not work, since there is not menu option for "Enter the Push to Talk mode. Release to mute the microphone" (taken from https://support.skype.com/EN/faq/FA12074/what-keyboard-shortcuts-can-i-use-with-skype-for-mac-os-x). I gotta say this is absolutely ridiculous! Why would skype hijack a hotkey for the whole system if it's not even in focus?! Please provide a way to disable specific hotkeys or alltogether. Is there any other way to fix this right now? Mac 10.10.3Skype 7.10 (777)

I don't recall what the CTRL-COMMAND-DownArrow shortcut did, but have you tried just using COMMAND-DownArrow or CTRL-DownArrow depending upon what you want? Also see Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts.

  • Voip - wengo/twinkle

    hello,
i'm finding an alternative to skype so i have tried wengophone2 (aur -> http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=0&SeB=nd), twinkle and gizmo. With skype i had no problem, gizmo works fine too but i can't get wengo and twinkle working.
Both are stable (no crashes), when i call test links (twinkle->freeworlddialup:613, wengo: 333) i hear everything but that's all - i mean there is no reproduction of my test record. So the problem must be in my microphone.
Twinkle seems to work without problem, wengo's output (after test call and trying to play the ringtone) - but there's no error, only warns/infos:

  • M-Audio Fast Track/Audio Hijack Skype Recording Pr...

    Hey folks!
Want to throw my IMAC out the window right now so I figured it was time to ask for help.
I'm using an M-Audio Fast Track. I use it to record my regular Podcasts through Garageband and have zero problems.
However, when I try to record interviews via Skype using tools like Call Recorder/Audio Hijack etc... both the recordings and the person on the other end only hear me on one side of the headphone/speakers. In other words not in stereo. Again, I get stereo just fine when using Garageband but for interview, not so much.
    What am I missing?
I've configured Mac settings to include Fast Track as well as Skype preferecnes.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Gary

Did you figure out the problem?  I'm having the same issue

  • Account hijacked, but skype support is unresponsive

Hi, My employee account was recently hijacked. He completed the verification form, and the info there is correct, but the support team keeps turn it down and asks to fill it again. We are ready to provide any other identity proofs, e.g. main db file, verification calls from his colleagues, etc, but no help, the support team simply sends canned replies back. Does anybody know how to resolve the problem? Maybe someone knows a contact of the support team supervisor? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, the_manager, and welcome to the Community,
Please try contacting Skype Customer Support directly, to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent:  https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10656/what-is-live-chat-support
If the information provided via the web form does not match exactly what is on file for the particular account in question, the verification process will fail.
Skype is aware of lingering problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.

  • Skype: Stop Hijacking Web Browsers!

Installed update 6.6.0.106 on 07/15/2013 and noticed during the installation process that the installer wanted to hijack the search engine and home pages of (4) web browsers including MSIE, Chrome, Mozilla and Safari. Skype (Microsoft), what on EARTH, makes you think that a person who is installing an update to Skype would want to change their default search engines or homepages on MULTIPLE different web browsers on their machine? It's rude, it's an attack on a person's computer, and it shines a light on what dispicable behavior and malicious software occurs within the Skype software. Want to hijack someone's browser like a common malware?  Fine, stick to your own God awful MSIE browser, but don't you DARE try to touch my superior Chrome and Firefox browsers. Shame on you! Luckily for you, I caught your lame attempt in advance...  Otherwise, I'd be REALLY angry.  But others here need to know that shameful companies like Microsoft do this everyday in an attempt to harvest your personal information.  Be careful whenever you install software and read every checkbox!

Yes. Yes. Yes.  My browser was hijacked too. It IS hijacking.  I can't believe Microsoft would be such idiots that they've decided they're willing to piss off so many people just to steal some eyeballs. MICROSOFT: wake up and stop doing stupid and easily avoidable dumb things.  Now I'm going to be getting calls from countless clients, friends, and family asking, "How come my Google looks different." and "What happened to that nice Comcast news screen I used to see when I started the internet?"  And I get to tell them that Microsoft tricked them and stole their time and my time to fix the problem. Great way to establish a good reputation, Microsoft... NOT. Please, have some respect for your customers' time. Don't try to trick us.  This is either a slimy marketing decision on Microsoft's part, or a total rookie mistake.  THERE'S NO EXCUSE FOR THIS RUDE BEHAVIOR BY MICROSOFT.

  • My Skype account was hijacked.

My Skype account was hijacked a couple of weeks ago.  I lost the Skype credit I had loaded into my account, and the hijacker charged over $100 to my credit card through the Skype auto-recharge option.  I have contacted Skype customer support about this issue, but I suspect that the replies I have gotten might also be fraudulent.  I have lost almost $200 in this incident, and the security of my Skype account and possibly my credit card account have been compromised.  How can I contact a legitimate support person at Skype to get this issue resolved?

  • Uninstall Skype and use Viber because Skype popup is hijacking Hotmail blocking access to emails.

Uninstall Skype and use Viber because Skype popup is hijacking Hotmail blocking access to emails. Theres no other option than accepting Skypes Intrusion.    Get new email accounts somewhere. Use two weeks to change the emailaddresses everywhere. You cannot get refund on your account. Call youre mother.THANK YOU Skype and good bye

Perhaps what you say is true, but in this situation it is irrelevant.
I install an upgrade to a functioning Skype installation.  I then click a checkbox to prevent Skype from starting automatically.  And this procedure wipes out my port setting?  Sorry, only if Skype has a bug does it do that.
If there was a port number problem, the upgrade introduced it or clicking the setting to prevent Skype startup automatically introduced it or the installation was corrupted by some other means.
My approach was to clean up the installation by uninstalling.  And as I discovered, Skype has its tentacles deep into the registry and provides no mechanism to perform the required clean up.  I am requesting Skype automate that cleanup rather than inflict an arduous, error prone manual procedure on the baffled user.

  • My Skype Account got hijacked - What to do now?

So my Skype Account got hijacked today, but I got it back after 10 minutes. The hijackers messaged me with the new password and after I logged in, I changed my password at first. I want them to get punished. They sent messages to everyone with texts like "I am stupid." etc.. I got many messages about it and not everyone in my contactlist believes that the account got hijacked.
So what should I do now? I would like to get them punished.

  • Payment history and refunds - Buying SKYPE credit - SITE HIJACKED FOR SKYPE

Post transferred to the Skype Account: Rates & Subscriptions message board.

If you are in countries like Taiwan and China you will be redirected to a Skype partner page to buy credits.  It's based off location, is intentional and generally mandated by the country .  If you are attempting to purchase credit (not in that area) from the Skype application and all the links still refer you to the partner then your account may be tied to those countries.  If it is and you do not reside in those countries then you would want to contact Skype Customer Service to ensure your account is properly reconfigured.  If you are in China, Taiwan or in that region and are unable to purchase credit then the only way around these limitations imposed by Skype, the ISP/country is to purchase credits using a Proxy/VPN for a country outside of the area or use/stock up on vouchers when you travel. https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1170
