Skype takes forever to login

hi guys,Skype takes forever to login. I searched on google to find a solution and on this forums and they all said something about antivirus blocking it. But I've already made an exception in my antivirus software settings. I have no idea why isn't it still not working. Anyone please help!

That is correct. IE11 doesn't seem to open properly. I don't get any error messages but the main content area is totally white and the url input is disabled. Also, many of the menu options, such as "Internet Options" are disabled.
Also, opening IE11 will also result in a system event error regarding the webcachelocal log file that I mentioned earlier.
OK, I have removed IE11, rebooted and then performed a Windows Update. I checked the option to install Internet Explorer 11 and proceeded with the update. The update appears to have failed with a code 9C59. After a reboot, I tried opening IE again and got the same white background. This time, however, IE disappears without any visible error messages.
I forgot to mention that there are acutally two errors logged in system events each time that IE is launched (I only mentioned one earlier because it seemed more relevant to the issue):
taskhost (2200) WebCacheLocal: Unable to create a new logfile because the database cannot write to the log drive. The drive may be read-only, out of disk space, misconfigured, or corrupted. Error -1032.

  • Need help determining why 10.6.x clients take FOREVER to login to X Serve

    Issue:
New MacBooks running of 10.6.x are taking a ridiculous amount of time to log in to network as clients.
FIle Server (location of Open Directory):
    Xserve G5
    2 x 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5
    8 GB Memory
    Mac OS X Server 10.5.8 (Build 9L34)
    Client Computers:
17" Intel iMacs (mostly running TIger, starting to image with Leopard)
    17" G5 iMacs (running Tiger)
20" Intel iMacs (all running 10.5.8)
MacBook unibodies (shipped with 10.6 and upgraded to 10.6.2)
    Current situation:
    1. Extreme lag time on Snow Leopard MacBook login for network clients—we are looking at well over 90 seconds. BUT, once logged in, the machines log out quickly with no issues.
    2. Local accounts log in with no issue and shared computers/servers are showing up in the finder.
    3. Used Migration Assistant on first new MacBook to "clone" current Applications and accounts from a 10.5.8 master computer and proceeded to update the unit to 10.6.2. Unboxed another new MacBook and did not use MA but instead set up the unit to the our network using Directory Utility. Both machines behave similarly when trying to log in using a client's account. The only difference I can tell is during the actual login box. The migrated MacBook switches from name/password to the "Logging In..." progress bar (which takes up to 2 minutes). The "factory" MacBook stays on the name/password login box with a carousel-ing progress circle to the right of the text boxes.
    4. I've triple checked all the Network/Directory/Account settings on our master 10.5.8 machine (which accesses the network for all clients and run perfectly) vs. the two new MacBooks with 10.6.2—no differences. Maybe that is the problem.....
    5. Unfortunately, we are using a jumble of OSs here. Tiger, Leopard, and now Snow Leopard. We manage accounts using WorkGroupManager (both from 10.5 and 10.4—probably not the best idea)
    Questions:
Do Snow Leopard machines need folder relocation for things such as Directory?
Does our X Serve need to be altered in anyway?
    Your expertise is needed....
Thank you in advance for any input

Past migrations can get pretty messy.
I'm sure the root of your problem lies in your ldapv3 settings; including contacts and searches
Revisit the directory settings, via system prefs--> accounts.
Look for older "migrated" setting that are no longer needed.
    Perseverance brings good fortune.
    You're welcome.

  • AD login issues - takes forever!

Is there An alternative workaround for the login issue(takes forever to logon to an AD environment)? Do I have to create an Open Directory master in a subordinate role to the AD server. If so any documentation for that?
    Thanks,

    HI,
Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.
    Delete your Apple ID keychain.
Relaunch your browser. Login to AD with your user name and password. Click Yes when prompted.
If that didn't help, go to Safari/Preferences - Security. Click: Show Cookies
Delete all Apple cookies and relaunch Safari.
    Try again.

I've tried safari, chrome, firefox...I've cleared the cache as well. This has been going on for several months and used to be tolerable as it was not every website. Now it has become every website and is impossible to deal with. My roommates computer and my cell phone connect fine. I'm fully connected to the router yet websites don't load. I'm using 10.7.5. Thank you!!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Facebook games take forever to load and all 'items' never show on screen

i have updated to Firefox (safe mode), have updated flash player and have gone through pages and pages of help articles, but any and all of my facebook games (farmville, petville, farmtown, etc.) take forever to load and after loaded move extremely slowly AND never load fully. Only 1/10 of actual "items" ever load. When I click on the normal things I have to "perform" when playing the game, it takes effect minutes later, never immediately as normal and buildings, gifts, etc., never let me use them at all.....

  • T410 - WinXP Pro Taskbar hangs and system takes forever to shutdown

    Hi,
I've been having a weird issue with my T410. I created 3 partition on the HDD, one ntfs which i install WinXP Pro, that i downgraded using IBM recovery disk (since mine came with Win7 x86). My 2nd partition, is using ntfs with win7 x64, which i clean installed using a different license. Im reserving my 3rd partition to install my linux soon. Win7 on my machine works awesome. On the other hand, my XP is running nuts, the taskbar hangs every other minute and the system takes forever to shutdown (sometimes i just dont bother to wait,i'd just force shutdown). After I click Start>Shutdown, some of the programs will start to slowly close, and then it just hangs there. If i try to open any programs, i get an error message saying that the system has initiated shutdown, but it just hangs there for like good 5 minutes. Task manager wont open during that time too...I've tried uninstalling some programs that i thought might be distrupting the shudown to no avail. Can anyone suggest me anything else that i can do?
On the worse case scenario where i **might** need to reinstall my XP using the recovery disk again, would it be possible to keep my other partitions intact? I dont remember seeing that option in any of the IBM's that i've worked with. That option came standard with my old toshiba..
    Btw, im running a T410, i5 540, 4gigs DDR3 RAM, if that helps.
    Thanks
    Huz

How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
    Check for Login Items
Open System Preferences/Accounts then select the Login Items tab. Delete any files or apps you have listed there.
And go to /Library/Startup Items. Move any files in the Startup Items folder to the Trash
If there's enough disk space and login items aren't an issue, launch Disk Utility. The startup disk may need repairing.
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Select: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions).
If the disk needs repairing >
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • Logging in Calendar Server sometimes takes forever

    Test setup :
    - On Windows NT Server 4.0 SP6a
    - Sun ONE Calendar Server (5.1.1),
    - Local user prefs LDAP database : IPlanet Directory Server
    - Distant auth LDAP database : OpenLDAP
Just after restarting the services, login procedure works OK and fast. After a few hours of use, login procedure takes about 2 minutes and 40 seconds (but finally works).
    Other factors :
    - If the login credentials are cached, everything works OK and fast. If and only if the credentials are not cached and the server has been used for some time, then the login takes forever.
    - Network sniffing reveals that CS does two LDAP queries : one to get the DNs related to the login, one to check the credentials using a BIND operation. When everything works, the two requests are done quickly in succession. When it doesn't work, the first request is done (answer comes immediately) then CS delays for about 2 minutes 40 seconds before doing the second request.
    - I've played with several ics.conf parameters (LDAP cache, session duration, HTTP timeout...) without much success.
    Any ideas ?

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

  • Booting with FileVault takes 'forever' (6 mins!)

A couple of weeks ago I turned on FileVault on my 2014 Mac Pro running Mavericks 10.9.3. The first couple of weeks everything was OK but since a week the first logon after boot seems to take forever:
it takes 6  minutes after I enter the password for the first time after startup before the desktop appears (only the apple logo is visible with a spinning wheel)
there is no message in the System log during 6 minutes (for example I see '7:05:02 Boottime' and the 2nd message in the log is '7:11:01 ...')
if I log out and log in (ie no restart) everything is running as before (from login to desktop takes a couple seconds)
What are the suggestions before I decide to switch off FileVault?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /var/folders
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • K7N2 Delta ILSR Takes forever to boot.

    Specs:
    K7N2 Delta ILSR Mobo
    Athlon xp 2500
Kingston Hyper X 2700 DDR 512mb (its on the list)
Geforce 2MX 32mb AGP videocard (I dont play games)
    3 Com 56k Win Modem
    IBM GXP120 60 gig ata133 Hard drive
    Pine 12X DVD drive
    LG 24x10x48 CD Burner
    Antec 300W power supply
The problem is that it takes forever to install and boot windows with faster processors for some reason. I origianlly built this system with my old Athlon 1.33 and it had these problems.  I then tried a 900mhz athlon and it worked great, so I figured I damaged my 1.33 somehow.  I ordered a 2500+ and a zalmann cpu cooler and now am back to where I was, when the system starts it  seems very unstable and the screen goes blank for 10 minutes while its booting.  It shows about 3 seconds of the starting windows screen then the screen will go blank for a while anf there will be no hard drive activity then it will come back about 10 minutes later and then boot.  Sometimes the system will work fine then sometimes I cant even open my computer i just get the searching flashlight icon where my drives should be.  I have updated to the lastet BIOS.  Also while installing windows I get ocasional long pauses where it is doing nothing at all then it will just magically conitnue and do it in a fashion I would expect a machine of this speed to do.

Hmm not sure about the cable position on the CD drives, ill have to check that when I get home.  All the jumpers are set correcly, and the hard drive is all by itself and its on the right connector.  Thanks for the ideas, this problem is really killing me, I havent had these kind of hardware problems in years.  The thing I dont get is why it works good with the 900mhz and not with the 1.33 or 2500+

If you just got your new MBP you have phone support from Apple (which is quite good) call them.  800-692-7753 tell the automated answerer "mail technical support" you'll have human quite quickly.  Hope this helps.

  • MATSHITA DVD-R   UJ-857D takes forever to erase 100MB file from CD-RW disc

My new MBP works phantastic. Only one thing is weird. The MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857D takes forever to erase contents on a CD-RW, about 5-10 times longer than my nearly 5 years old IBM Thinkpad T30.
    Is this normal and expected?
MacBook Pro 15'' 2.33 Core 2 Duo 2GB RAM 160 GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   IBM ThinkPad T30 XP Pro

It might take longer, it depends on the type of drive your Thinkpad had. Most notebooks, even older ones, have 8x DVD ROM drives, while due to the thin nature of the MBP it has a 6x DVD ROM drive, which means it does work slower.

  • Firefox (for android) takes forever to load or doesn't load at all

Firefox will not load or takes forever to load (i.e. up to 3 or 4 minutes) mostly, I get an "unable to connect" "offline mode" error. Other apps that use data are able to connect to the network, but FF...not so much.
    I'm on a Nexus 5 running kk 4.4.2

fixed the "offline mode" problem by following the about:config directions
    [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/962245]
unfortunately, pages still take so long to load it basically renders Firefox useless.

How long does it usually take from taping the icon until you can take photos?
My iPhone 4 takes 5 seconds, since you're using iPhone 4S I would imagine it should take no more 5 seconds.
Having said that, holding the Home and Sleep/Wake button until your iPhone restarts has shown to show improvements in overall performance (since it quits all applications). Users I know have also experiance better performance by updating to the latest version of iOS.

  • Firefox takes forever to open/startup. How can I fix this?

I am running Windows XP. All updates are current. IE opens up fast, but Firefox takes forever. Also, it is using way too much memory. Please advise.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
