Slow delivery!

It would be great to install and experience SL for myself but delivery of my disc is taking forever! I ordered mine a week ago and it's still not arrived. Bearing in mind a fairly significant delivery cost I'm not impressed. Recently paid for some Crucial memory to go to a remote rural location near Limoges and it took less than 24 hours!

When I ordered a Snow Leopard Family Pack on Aug 28th, the Apple Store clearly stated it'd be 3-5 days before the product would ship. Is it possible you misread this notice as 3-5 days *until receipt* which is quite a different matter? Also, did you expedite your shipping or go with unexpedited free shipping as I did to keep costs down?
When Apple shipped my SL Family Pack on Sept 2nd (three business days from the time I ordered it) I was happy, expecting it to take at least another five days in transit. When it arrived this morning I was also happy; all in all it took three or four days shorter than anticipated, but it still took a bit over a week to get it.
I guess everyone's experience is a bit different, but in my case Apple exceeded my expectations of when it would arrive. I see now the Apple Store shows SL ships within 24 hours so I doubt there'll be major delivery issues.

  • Slow delivery of Texts from landline to mobile

    Hi
Anyone else suffer from long delays from BT Landline to mobile (Orange, Vodafone and Tesco that I know of) when texting?  Seems to range from 2 to 8 hours and always exact hours from being sent.
Such delays negate using the service but mobile reception at home is minimal (strong on the reception end) hence the use of the landline.
    Thanks
    David

Thanks for posting dave1966uk. Sorry for the delay you are experiencing when sending texts from your landline. We can't guarantee delivery times for text messages as BT aren’t responsible for the entire Network that the text message crosses.
    Cheers

  • Very slow delivery to 8800 device with O2 (UK) BIS

I am getting varying delivery times from O2 to my 8800 via the Blackberry Internet Service from O2.
Times vary from 5 minutes to over 2 hours for emails to arrive on my handset.
I have 3 email accounts set-up on the handset- o2email, Hotmail & a Pop3 email server from my Website host.
I am checking the mail is received by my mail servers via Webmail and Hotmail and in both cases I can see the email has been received by the mail server as you might expect, within around 2 minutes from me sending it.
I can send with almost instantaneous results (as seen on Webmail) from my 8800, and the O2 email address delivers instantly so I know that there is no issue with the handset.
I think the issue is with the BIS look-up to my mail servers but I can't get O2 to agree to this; part of the issue is that the handset is an unlocked Vodafone 8800 which I have installed the approved O2 software on so as far as I am concerned it should be the same as any official O2 handset.
Any advice or assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Luke

knRef: 2) I have resolved this issue by emptying the browser cache on the device (I also read that resetting the browser to default settings can help)
    Still no luck with attachments.

  • Should do it on a very slow delivery by apple store ?

The delivery time indicated is delayed.

If you are writing about the new iMacs, it may depend on your location.   21" seem to be coming through but 27" are still subject to some delay in some countries.
We, here, cannot answer on behalf of Apple.   All you can do is badger your supplier.

  • Slow delivery, no notifications

I have 2 GMail accounts, 2 POP accounts and one EAS account all with these settings:
    Get Mail: 5 minutes
    Show Notifications: On
    Play Sound: Off
    Vibrate: On
Everyting worked well until 2 days ago.  Now mail sometimes comes in automatically, sometimes not.  When it does it's always much longer than the 5 minute interval.  When mail does come in, there are no visual or vibrate notification.  I've done a reset and a full power cycle, along with removing the battery, with no change.  Anyone have ideas?

You may want to try a partial erase (this does remove all PIM data from your device), and then restore data from your Google, Palm and/or EAS accounts. Update 1.0.3 was pushed out within the last few days, and maybe this had some effect on you device. Also remember that when you are on the phone you are not able to access data at the same time; have you had a lot of calls within the last few days, or maybe you are in a poor EVDO service area?

  • Slow delivery of responses

I just received a response from a mailing.  The customer sent it on 5/14 and today is 5/17.  This is unacceptable, as we work on deadlines and a day can make the difference between making a sale or not.

Responses should appear in the View Responses Tab almost immediately. Did the person who submitted the form see the "Submission Successful" message after thy submitted the data?
The response you received by mail, was it an email from FormsCentral (from the email notification) or was it your customer emailing you directly?
Can you share the form with me ([email protected]) as a co-author and I'll check our logs here to see what could have happened.

  • Hotmail slow delivery only

Hey I have looked around and haven't found a forum that covers my specific problem. What I am seeing is my hotmail new message deliveries showing up maybe twice a day and usually in the middle of the night. I have the appropriate account setup with hotmail (legacy account with pop privilages), and is a corperate phone. My work email gets delivered instanly, and sending from my blackberry via hotmail delivers to others instantly. For the first month I have had this setup, it was working perfectly and quickly. Just recently has it stopped notifying me of new emails. I will have ten emails stacked up from the day, throughout the day, but some time at like 1:45 am they will all suddenly show up on my Blackberry. Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated!
    ~Cheers Ryan

I have hotmail on my device too. Lately I've been experiencing the same thing. I ever tried to remove and re-add the account, and resend the service books but that didn't help. Not sure if there's a solution yet

  • Internet is too slow on mac osx

i use boot camp .... internet on windows = blazing fast. internet on mac osx = crap, always losing connection and can't stream videos. I find myself booting into windows 10 times to every one time i boot into osx. seriously. really?? i paid a premium for what? eye candy?

There's nothing specific about Mac OS X that would cause it to be 'slow' when networking. I (and I'm sure lots of others here as well) have many Macs owned over several years which are blazingly fast using the network.
If your network is slow, there's got to be a specific reason. We can probably help you isolate the various causes and find out what is causing it to behave so slowly.
I do not know what level of expertise you have when working with computers or networks so I will try to be specific. If we are to help you, you will need to be specific and accurate when responding. Vague answers from you will only net vague guesses from us. Specific answers from you will likely result in our being able to provide you with specific suggestions and fixes.
If the Mac is fast when running Windows, but slow when running OS X then it's not likely that you actually have a hardware defect (bad network interface, disconnected wifi antenna, etc. as these problems would manifest whether running OS X or Windows on the same hardware.
First, tell us about your Mac and your network. Which Mac model do you have? How much memory does it have? What OS version is it running? If you run "Software Update" is this Mac fully and completely up-to-date with the latest patches?
A long while back there was a known bug in Leopard that would cause a MacBook Pro to be slow if using a wireless network while on battery power (it would be fast if connected to AC power). That was patched long ago. (hence my interest in which OS revision you are running and whether it is fully patched)
What brand & model network router are you using?
What type of network connection are you using on your Mac? Are you using a physical ethernet connection (you plug in a network cable) or are you using wireless? What type of ISP do you have and what is the nature of the connection (cable, DSL, wireless, satellite?)
In "System Preferences" -> "Network", select your active network interface (typically either "Ethernet" or "Airport"), then select the "Advanced..." button in the lower right corner. On the next select the "Ethernet" tab across the top (usually the far-right). Is "Configure:" set to "Automatically"? Is the "MTU:" show a grayed out value that reads "Standard (1500)"? If not, what values do you see?
    Next
Start "Network Utility" (it's under "Applications" -> "Utilities"), go to the "Info" tab, select your active network interface (probably ether "Ethernet (en0)" or "Airport (en1)").
What is the "Link Speed" of your connection?
On the right side of the Network Utility "Info" tab are some "Transfer Statistics", including a count of "Send Errors" and "Recv Errors". These are typically very small numbers (usually single-digit values) and do +not necessarily+ mean there is a problem. TCP/IP networking was specifically designed to allow for errors, dropped packets, lost packets, time-outs, etc. and still be able to function without causing problems for the operating system or it's applications (errors are automatically detected and corrected -- usually by retransmitting the troubled packets). These do not necessarily mean there is a problem with your computer... an error, congestion, router problem, etc. anywhere in the network can cause these. With that in mind, what is your total number of sent packets and how many send errors do you have? What is your total number of received packets and how many receive errors do you have? (as an example, my system has over 4 million packets sent and 0 errors, but about 3.3 million packets received and 5 errors -- another mac I checked happens to have 6 send and receive errors. As I said... very small numbers and especially when considering the total number of packets sent or received. If your numbers are large (4 digit values, etc.) then there may be a problem.
    Next
I'd like to isolate and test the quality of the connection between your Mac and your router (ignoring the rest of the Internet). If the connection between those two components is solid and healthy, then any slow down would be a problem elsewhere in the network and not, specifically, your Mac.
There is something called "MTU" (maximum transmission unit) that I wont get into just now. A problem with MTU can cause slow delivery of packets on what should be a blazingly fast network in otherwise excellent health, but I'll set that aside for now. 99.9% of the time you should never attempt to alter the MTU.
Go into "System Preferences" -> "Network", select your network interface (either Ethernet or Airport -- whichever you happen to be using) then note the value displayed for "Router:"
Back in "Network Utility", select the "Ping" tab and type in the value displayed for your Router (which you noted above) into the box labeled "Enter the network address to ping." Usually this is a number that looks like "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.0.1" or "10.0.0.1", etc. (almost always ends with a ".1". After entering the number, verify that you have select "Send only [10] pings" (that's the default), then click "Ping" to start the test.
What was the min/average/max/stddev values reported at the end of the ping? On a healthy wired network, the values will typically be less than .5 milliseconds. On a healthy wireless network the values will typically be in the 2-4ms range.
Your answers to these questions will help us rule IN or rule OUT various possible causes.

    Preparing to Upgrade
As a best practice, IronPort recommends preparing for an upgrade by taking the following steps:
    1. Save the XML configuration file off of the appliance.
    2. Suspend the listeners.
    3. Drain the mail queue and the delivery queue.
    4. Re-enable the listeners after you upgrade.

I haven't upgraded to 5.5.0 yet, but I was very excited to learn about end-user whitelists and blacklists, which is something we'd been pushing for since we bought our Ironports. Unfortunately, it looks like it's being implemented in a way that makes it impossible for me to deploy at this time.
We have two C350s, and would need the whitelists and blacklists to appear on each box. It appears that I could do this by exporting the database from one machine, transferring it to the other, and then importing it. However, this appears to ONLY be able to be done via the GUI.
This is a showstopper for me, because I do not want to have to log into the Ironport every day to import and export the databases - I would want to automate it. I talked to technical support, and it appears that there is no way to do this via the CLI.
My feature request is this: please consider adding a command that would allow me to remotely force the database to be dumped, and another command to import the database.
Ideally, it would be something like:
    safelistconfig dump
    safelistconfig import
If that was available, I would make my users a lot happier with this feature.

    SunOS P1192FLPLN 5.9 Generic_118558-02 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire
We have a mailbox allocated to a user who uses pop3 service.
Our server has been pointed to an external gateway ,but the user has configured his pop3 client to send mail via another gateway.
He is experiencing slow delivery of mails.
Is their anyway we can check the logs for his mails been sent.
Also is their any command utility with which we can monitor the messaging server continuously
I am quite skeptical in our case that we will able to find any log for our case, so posting this query
    thanks in advance.

    prasad0_0 wrote:

Our server has been pointed to an external gatewaySending (SMTP) and accessing email (POP) are two completely independent operations.
What is this 'external gateway' you are talking about - is this for POP access (some kind of proxy/MMP) or for SMTP access/outgoing relay?
,but the user has configured his pop3 client to send mail via another gateway. Who maintains/runs this 'other' gateway? Does this mean the customer is not uploading/sending emails to the Sun Messaging Server that they have their account on?
He is experiencing slow delivery of mails. Does this occur if they send emails via the Sun Messaging System, if not how is this a Sun Messaging Server problem?
Also does 'slow delivery' mean it takes a long time to upload (send) or a long time to be delivered into their account?
Is their anyway we can check the logs for his mails been sent. Only if the system being sent to is owned/maintained by yourself. If the customer is sending emails to a third-party then it won't be logged since your system knows nothing about it.
Also is their any command utility with which we can monitor the messaging server continuously Monitor what exactly?
We provide an SNMP interface for monitoring various parameters about messaging server (queues, processes up/down that sort of thing).
I am quite skeptical in our case that we will able to find any log for our case, so posting this queryWell if they upload email via a third-party how is this your problem/fault? You could check the received headers of a 'slow' email to determine where the delay may be.

still appears to go over the first hub server.....any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Hi,
I recommend you increase the cost on the first RG connector to prevent traffic through this connector. Then please check if traffic will go through the second HUB server.

  • Global shipping program scam

The global shipping program is a complete scam. Used items do NOT hold the same value as brand new items with TAGS! I've seen completely used up shoes with a value of $10 and an import charge of $200. You guys need to look into this because in Canada used goods DO NOT have import charges and if the value is ridiculously high the import charge is well under $30

Take a deep breath. The poorly thought out and deeply flawed Global Shipping Program was not set up to help buyers in any way. It's intention was to encourage US (and now UK) sellers to offer their items internationally. This was done by guaranteeing sellers that if they got their shipment safely to the GSP plant in Kentucky for transhipment out of the USA (all around the world, not just Canada), the seller would not be held responsible for slow delivery, 'lost' parcels, or complaints about foreign duties and taxes. Now.If your seller gave the value of those used shoes as $10, there would be NO duty or sales tax and the GSP/Pitney Bowes would not be collecting their $5 service charge. The minimum for assessment of charges is $20CDN (about $16 USD).If the seller, for some dimwitted reason, gave the value as $100-- instead of the selling price-- that is not the fault of the GSP. There is no duty on  used goods, but there is sales tax. Even so sales tax on a $100 value would be between $5 and $17 depending on the province.   What is the number of the listing in question? I've seen completely used up shoesUmm. You may be thinking these would be purchased at a low price by people who plan to wear them. While such innocence is refreshing, you have overlooked the fetish market. If you value your purity, do NOT look up 'used socks' on dotCOM under 'Mature'. Just don't.

I seem to be doomed to frequent mailings from Verizon telling me about bargain prices, none of which I'm eligible for.  I wish Verizon would stop wasting money on sending ads through the mail to people who those ads don't apply to.
But the way I look at things is if getting a wasted mailing from Verizon is the worst problem I have today....it's been a good day!

  • Safari 5.1 Slow Web Page Delivery

I'm seeking some help with very slow web page delivery on my mid-2010 iMac i3 with 12 GB of memory. Here's the facts:
Using Safai 5.1 with OSX Lion (7.1)
Very slow web page performance whether I use my wireless network or an ethernet cable connection (with wireless disabled). Both are slow.
A Windows computer in the same room, on the same wireless network, delivers pages briskly (with IE or Chrome). The problem does not seem to be related to the ISP (Comcast).
FTP on the Mac is quick, problem seems to be isolated to HTTP.
I upgraded from Snow Leopard a week or so ago but even with Snow Leopard the web page delivery was slow. Lion seems to be even slower.
For example, "Toms Hardware" just took about 2 minutes to fully load.
Very frequently, a web page will stall (blue progress bar doesn't move). Reloading with Command + R often helps but not always.
I tried to Empty Cache without a better result.
At this point, Safari is almost unusable because of the speed issue. Please advise with any suggestions. Thanks.

I upgraded from Snow Leopard a week or so ago but even with Snow Leopard the web page delivery was slow. Lion seems to be even slower.
How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
If disk space is not an issue, try Safari in another user account. Pages load slow there, log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility. /Applications/Utilities
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
