Slow in loading images

Hello Aperture users,
When I move from one image to another (one image displayed at the time) in my Aperture (version 2.1) each image take a little time to load in full resolution (1 second or so). This sounds long to me (especial when moving from one pic to another) - would someone know how this speed can be increased? More memory ? or is it a HD issue (too slow). Or a configuration thing in aperture....thanks for your idea, lights & time.
I use a nikon d300 jpg file (7 meg approx per picture: high quality variable file size)
Computer: Imac, alu, 3.8GHz, 4G memory.

Press "P" which puts aperture into Fast Preview mode - faster switching between pictures. You have to press "P" again to get out of preview mode before you can edit a picture.

  • Facebook slow to load images

    I am currently running iOS 8.1.3 on VZW iphone 6. When in Facebook app the images are slow to load if they even do. I have rest network settings, forgot the network and reconnected. I have uninstalled the facebook app as well. all other internet usage is fine on the phone. Wifi router is Netgear WNR1000v2 set to WPA2-PSK(AES), auto channel.
    Any ideas?

    Hi nevr4get911,
    Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
    It seems like the Facebook app is not loading images reliably, and you've tried many good steps to troubleshoot the app and your network connection.
    Since you have isolated this behavior to the Facebook app, you may want to contact the developer for more help:
    If you see this issue again, contact the app developer for help:
    Find the app in the App Store.
    Tap the app, then tap Reviews.

  • Mail Slow to Load Images

    I've gotten MOST issues addressed/fixed since Mavericks came out, but one I've noticed that is a bit annoying. Images in emails are slow to load. Not just with Gmail account, other accounts as well. Any others getting this? I'm on a MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013.

    I'll try to submit this as a bug report when I get a chance.  The desired behavior would be to show as much of the message as possible without blocking the application...the way a web browser normally does when rendering a web page as elements come in.
    One other quirk: in the case of the email tracking example I gave, it does not help to disable "display remote images in HTML messages" under Mail...Preferences...Viewing.
    Actually, when disabling this feature, it seems like Mail downloads the images, but simply does not display them.  It takes a while to display some emails without displaying the remote images when the feature is disabled, then I hit "load images" and the images instantaneously appear.  They must have already been downloaded.  If true, then this is undesirable behavior indeed, e.g., when trying to minimize bandwidth during travel or when trying not to be tracked by email senders!

  • Safari, at times does not load images on webpages, is very slow, or doesn't work at all. Rarely does it operate as one would expect.

    iMac 27" 2009 intel core 4 gigs of ram, 1tb HD, Current operating system. 2 user accounts, myself, my fiancee's. Each with iPhones so each setup to utilize iCloud. I have disabled 3rd party plug-ins once with only short-term effects. There are other issues with the computers performance and I have spoken to apple support regarding them multiple times. Some include iCloud not syncing properly to the iMac (though it does to phone and online), Finder windows getting "lost" between "digital desktops". Desktop image not syncing across all "digital desktops". iTunes often has issues with syncing with and playing from my iTunesMatch account.
    Safari's issues include it not loading any images on a website, when trying to load a new page by typing a search in the the url it won't even begin to load a page, sometimes it is very slow to load a page, a lot of time it will spend 5+ minutes "attempting" or not even visually attempting to load a webpage without warning the page can't be found, and then of course there are the "page can't be found" warnings as well.
    Very much thanks in advance,

  • Safari is loading webpages extremely slow and not loading images...

    Not loading webpages a lot of the time and not loading images on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. I'm new to Mac and I'm running Safari on a Mac Mini. Help? Also deleted ~/Libraries/Safari and it didn't work.

    Please answer as many of the following questions as you can.
    1. Have you restarted your router and broadband modem since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
    2. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they also slow?
    3. What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
    4. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they also slow?
    5. If you can test Safari on another network, is it slow there too?
    6. If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Images slow to load

    Hi there,
    Images on my macbook pro take ages to load you know like on EBay when you are waiting for the pictures.
    Also Google maps never work especially when you want to zoom in more detail.
    Is this my ISP or can I change any settings on my Macbook Pro to see if that does the trick?
    Thanks
    Chris

    HI Chris and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Empty Cache.
    Also, web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. *These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down.* It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
    Navigate to the eBay site. If it still takes too long to load images, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
    Relaunch Safari.

  • How to load images from client side when the swf is hosted on a server without uplaoding it to server?

    I'm trying to build a online image resize tool.
    problem i face are:
    1. I build a button that allow user to browse the file. Once
    file is selected, it doesnt show full path.
    2. lets say if it shows fullpath, but i try to load it into a
    movieclip, and it doesnt work because the swf file is located at
    the server and not the client's place.
    3. as far as i know, flash can only load images which is
    located in the same server or internet.
    4. if i use php, asp, cgi.. it can only allow me to 1st
    upload the image then resize later, but this is not wat i want.
    5. I need to 1st resize then upload later, because if i have
    100 and more photos taken from digicam, it's going to be very slow
    and heavy.
    What i have tested:
    1. upload "image3.jpg" into the same directory as the
    "viewer.swf", and it works.
    2. do not upload the swf to the server, but run locally from
    the user's computer and open "image3.jpg" and it works.
    3. upload the swf to the server and open "image3.jpg" from

  • Load images in the correct order, needs help..

    I have tried loading in some images in the order of the xml files.. that contain them ..
    they did load in one by one but .. in  random order .. so mabe i am doing too much or too liitle can some one give it asecond look for me ..
    //-- load Xml
    urlLoader.load(new URLRequest("loader_alpabet/loader_alpabet.xml"));
    urlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,xmlReady);
    this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,entFrm);
    // process the Xml and create array of objs
    function xmlReady(evt:Event):void {
         xml=new XML(evt.target.data);
         var xmlListUrls:XMLList=new XMLList(xml.image.url.text());
         var xmlListNames:XMLList=new XMLList(xml.image.name.text());
         var xmlListDescs:XMLList=new XMLList(xml.image.description.text());
         for (var g:Number = 0; g < xmlListNames.length(); g++) {
              imagePack.push({name:xmlListNames[g],url:xmlListUrls[g],desc:xmlListDescs[g]});
              if (xmlListUrls.length()==imagePack.length) {
                   loaderMachine();
    //this is where i position the images
    function entFrm(evt:Event):void {
         if (imageIcons.length>0) {
              for (var g:Number = 0; g < imageIcons.length; g++) {
                   imageIcons[g].x=(centerX+Math.cos(angle+g)*radiusX)-imageIcons[g].width/2;
                   imageIcons[g].y=(centerY+Math.sin(angle+g)*radiusY)-imageIcons[g].height/2;
                   imageIcons[g].scaleX=imageIcons[g].scaleY= ((imageIcons[g].y/150) - 0.5);
                   stage.addChildAt(imageIcons[g], imageIcons[g].scaleX);
                   angle+=speed;
    //-- loader function
    function loaderMachine():void {
         trace(imagePack.length);
         loader = new Loader();
         loader.load(new URLRequest(imagePack[count].url));
         loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,imageReady);
    // put image on stage
    function imageReady(evt:Event):void {
         var image:Bitmap = (Bitmap)(evt.target.content);
         addChild(image);
         imageIcons.push(image);
         count++;
         if (count<imagePack.length) {
              loaderMachine();

    ah, I missed the 2nd version of the code
    You have to take the loaderMachine(); call out of the loop, call it after the loop.
    function xmlReady(evt:Event):void {
         xml=new XML(evt.currentTarget.data);
         var xmlListUrls:XMLList=new XMLList(xml.image.url.text());
         var xmlListNames:XMLList=new XMLList(xml.image.name.text());
         var xmlListDescs:XMLList=new XMLList(xml.image.description.text());
         for (var g:Number = 0; g < xmlListNames.length(); g++) {
              imagePack.push({name:xmlListNames[g],url:xmlListUrls[g],desc:xmlListDescs[g]});
          // start loading images
         loaderMachine();
    You're overwriting you loader instance each time you load an image, that's not good if you want it to stick around (display each loaded image).
    So in the method, create a local Loader instance and add it to the Array stack.
    Don't start the enterFrame event handler until all images are loaded.
    You can do so in the imageReady() event handler (check if counter equals array length).
    Don't add event listeners in the enterFrame event handler, you're adding them over and over again.
    So remove these from entFrm()
    imageIcons[g].addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,btn_mouse);
    imageIcons[g].addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT,btn_mouse);
    Don't use Event.target (unless you know what you're doing), use currentTarget instead.
    function imageReady(evt:Event):void {
         var loader:Loader = (event.currentTarget as LoaderInfo).loader;
         loader.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, btn_mouse);
         loader.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, btn_mouse);
         addChild((loader);
         count++;
         if (count<imagePack.length) {
              loaderMachine();
        }else{
              addEventListener(Event.ENTERFRAME, entFrm);
    Don't use Array.length in a loop condition, as this will check the lenght with each iteration, slowing down the loop.
    Set it to a local variable once and use that as the loop condition.
    var len:uint = imageIcons.length;
    for(var i:uint=0; i<len; i++) {}
    Last but not least, you're probably better off using a tween engine rather than an enterFrame event to move things around.
    Look into TweenLite.
    http://blog.greensock.com/tweenlite/
    It now looks like the enterFrame event continues untill you roll over one of the buttons? If so, that can't be good..
    function loaderMachine():void {
         var loader:Loader = new Loader();
         loader.load(new URLRequest(imagePack[count].url));
         loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, imageReady);
         imageIcons.push(loader);

  • Best place to load Images in applet game

    Sorry for the double post but I just realised I originally posted this in completely the wrong forum!
    Hello,
    I have made a fairly basic game of 21/BlackJack and was wondering where the best place to load the card Images is/was...
    Currently I am loading the images into an Image[ ] in the applet class, but was thinking maybe the loading should be done in the deck or card class?
    In the applet class I use an ordered version of the deck to assign the cards in the image[ ], then to call an image I generate an index number based on the current cards value and suit....
    However this method means I have to create an instance of the deck in the main program, whereas before I had it as a private member of the dealer class, so only the dealer could access it (which seems "safer", no?)
    So would a better idea be to have a loadImage() method in the deck class, which populates an Image[ ] with the cards and pass this to the main program?
    Thanks

    Ken,
    Loading images is slow so you only want to do it once... maybe when you generate the deck ... and "image" is definately an attribute of the card, yes... I'd actually implement the loadImage() as a method in the card class so set a private image variable... and then get the the dealer to call the loadImage method for each card as "he" builds the deck.
    But that's just how I would do it... and I'm no guru so don't take it as gospel... I'd be surprised if there wasn't atleast one "purer" way of doing it.

  • SAFARI WILL NOT LOAD IMAGES

    On my laptop safari works fine but on my G5 safari now will not load images or has a ? where images should be any help out there please

    Hello Fraser:
    We may not have the problem isolated. Are you connecting the computer that "works" in the same way that the one that "works" is connected?
    There is nothing inherent in either Safari or OS X that I am aware of that would cause the problem you describe.
    A general "fix" for some Safari performance problems (after clearing the cache) is to trash the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and restart (enter your personal Safari preferences). You might also trash the "favicon" file as that can slow Safari if it gets too large (~library>safari>icons).
    I would also turn off all items in the Safari preferences under "autofill" and turn on all the web content boxes under "security."

  • Problem loading image into texture memory

    Hi there, I am currently porting our new casual PC game over to the iPad using the pfi, the game was written in Flash so the porting process isn't that hard thankfully, it's mainly just optimizing the graphics.
    So far things are going smoothly, I was initially worried about graphical performance, but since we put everything into the GPU that's no longer a concern- it runs super smooth at 60fps at 1024x768, we can have a hundred large bitmaps rotating and alphaing at once with no slowdown.
    However there is one weird problem which is really worrying me at this point- it seems that the speed at which images are loaded into video memory as textures is vastly different depending on what else is being run on the iPad, for example:
    * If I run my game with nothing else in memory, it will run fine at 60fps, and load up large images into texture memory very fast.
    * If I run another App, in this case a Virtual piano app for a while, then close that App via the Home button (so the piano app is still in memory but suspended due to the multitasking), then when I run my game, it will run ok initially, but when I try to load a large (1024x512) image into texture memory it pauses the whole game for several seconds.
    * To make matters worse, if I repeat the same test using the RAGE app from ID software (which is very graphically intense), my game actually slows down to 1 fps and runs extremely slowly as soon as I run it and the frame rate never returns to normal. If I then double-click the home button, shut down RAGE, then go back to my game, it will run fine.
    I have read that sometimes when you load images into texture memory it will have to reclaim that memory from other apps, but that doesnt exaplain why it slows down every time I want to load something, or why the game would slow right down to a crawl.
    So then it seems that having other Apps in memory is slowing down my game, or stopping it from working altogether. Obviously this is not ideal and would stop us from releasing, so is there any way I can stop this, has anyone come across the problem? Please help!
    PS. this problem also happens on an iPhone 4, as I have performed the same tests.

    Hi _mz84
    First thing I noticed, is that you did not close your
    <embed> tag
    <embed src="gallery1.swf" bgcolor="#421628" width="385"
    height="611" wmode="transparent" />
    If that doesn't solve your troubles, try the following
    container.
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height="611"
    width="385" align="middle" data="gallery1.swf">
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="never" />
    <param name="allowNetworking" value="internal" />
    <param name="movie" value="gallery1.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <param name="scale" value="noscale" />
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#421628" />
    </object>
    hope this helps out.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 Won't Load Images On Screen at retina MacBook pro.

    Photoshop CS5.1 Won't Load Images On Screen at retina MacBook pro. Any help? Thanks!

    I'm surprised that Apple would attempt such a "hack" design...  Switching graphics adapters mid-stream is no small task, and I can't imagine that they could ever make it work seamlessly.
    Keep in mind that the nature of the complex GPU beast is that graphics hardware doesn't all work the same (or right) and application software has to make decisions about what to do and what not to do, and even when to invoke certain workarounds - or it would never be possible to run on multiple platforms.
    Yes, that seems wrong, but it's necessary and it makes developing cutting-edge graphics applications in the real world much more expensive.
    The decisions aren't re-made by an application all the time - that would slow things down terribly.  Instead, often the run-time environment is characterized at application startup and the features remembered for later use.  Modern applications actually even create programs (e.g., shaders or OpenCL programs) to run on specific GPU hardware, and they have to be compiled - something usually done by the application at startup.
    Now imagine that someone changes the capabilities of the graphics hardware completely after the application has started - even from one vendor's implementation to another (Intel to nVidia).
    Like I said, I'm surprised a reasonable system designer could ever think that swapping GPUs at run-time could be made to work.  At least Apple allows you to turn it off!
    Does Apple offer any "geek-level" configuration options that can force the use of a particular GPU for a given application?  It seems that this could be an automated workaround that would allow a given application to see only one GPU, which is what Photoshop appears to need here.
