Slow logging into Infoview

Hi All,
We are using BOE XI3.1 and using LDAP and configured Trusted authentication with .NET. We have 4 Web Servers (IIS) and 2 clustered SIA.
When logging into Infoview it is taking 7 - 10 seconds.
We would like to know what is the BO XI3.1 product bench Mark.
Thanks in advance.

trusted authentication is external to BO, it's just the passing of a username, do you experience the problem if logging in with LDAP directly? If not then you will have to figure out how to trace external to BO (fiddler and packet scanning are the most useful tools in this case).

Tim

  • Can not log into Infoview with Windows AD credentials

    Hi,
I am using CRS 2008 V1 SP3. I migrated all my AD users from XIR2 to 2008 version recently. I also mapped the AD users correctly and most of my windows AD users are able to log into infoview except some users. I checked those users exist in CMC user list. They also have no problem logging in with their Enterprise password. I even deleted the AD member groups and added again in Windows AD auth in CMC. Also restarted the CMS and the machine itself but NO LUCK. I dont understand why there's problem with only those few users. One of the user recently changed her password..so my another assumption is may be her token is lost...but it should fix when i restarted the machine. Please help!!!

ok that means the primary issue is with the servercie account ort AD. To eliminate the service account in the CMC > auth > windows AD > change the setting from kerberos to NTLM and test client tools again. Fail mean the problem is with the user or AD, success means the problem is with the service account or kerberos.

  • Problem logging into infoview crystal reports server X1

Hi, i'm trying to move our crystal server to another server but am running into issues.
    Our server is Windows 2003 R2 SP2
    we use Active directory authenication.
when logging into infoview the follow error appears.
An error has occurred: An unknown error has occurred.
    http://ctcvicrs01/businessobjects/Enterprise11/InfoView/error.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/businessobjects/Enterprise11/InfoView/logon.aspx
Strange thing is if you clear the error part of the url
    http://ctcvicrs01/businessobjects/Enterprise11/InfoView/
and hit refresh it logs you in fine.
    any ideas?

Typical owners of Crystal Reports Server do not have access to the above mentioned Business Objects ESD (Electronic Software Delivery) site to download software/patches. These customers are usually small to mid market customers that have to purchase the product from our partners/resellers. Only actual customers that purchase directly from Business Objects get access to ESD. This is the reason why there was a special CR XIR2 Server SP2 patch that used to be available for download on the publicly available http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com website. Unfortunately that site now redirects to the new SAP site. That all being said, I have also run in to the issue with searching the new SAP download site not returning any results for SP2. This was a few weeks ago, and I just figured they were not finished getting all the files categorized and available for download yet. I will follow up internally and see if I can get this issue resolved.
    Stay tuned for more details.
    Regards,
    Jack

  • Slow logging into Planning

We just finished rolling out 9.3.1 in production and we are having some issues with planning being very slow when logging in. When a user logs in the top bar appears but on the bottom it is a white screen. It takes about 2-3 minutes to fully load, after that everything works ok until the user tries to log back in. In the application settings I saw that sync_user_logon was set to true. Would this speed up logging onto planning? If not are there any other methods I can use to speed up planning?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
When SYNC_USER_ON_LOGON is set to true and the user logs into planning it syncs up the user from Shared Services with the Planning Application database, it also syncs up the essbase side. So if it is a new user and the first time they log in it will create the user in the Planning application database and create the user in essbase.
So if you have it set to false and set up a new user and they try and log into planning, because they don't exist in the planning database they won't be able to log in, they would only be able to log in if the provisionusers utility had been run to update the planning database.
    Hope this helps

  • Tomcat Thread needed for logging into infoview

Could you let me know regarding following
    1. How much is the max thread that tomcat can hadle
                                                                                    2. How many threads is required for a user to login to Business Objects
    and view reports.

    Hello Ramsudhakar
    1. I think by default is 150. heck for maxThreads in $Tomcat_HOME/conf/server.xml
    2. When I connect one user to my test system and I open Infoview, I detect 3 threads to connect to Infoview (one sender, one receiver, one cleanup), the same ammount for InfoviewAppActions.
When I create a new doc, I have 7 threads from AnalyticalReporting and one for Crystal reports.
This is what you were looking for ?

  • My iMac was running BitDefendwr scan and I tried logging into my online banking at the same time...it froze I had to do a hard restart now it is so slow it is useless. I have Safari5 an latest Snow Leopard. Anybody have any ideas?

My IMac is so slow after having to do a hard restart. I have BitDefender 2011 for Mac and it was running a scan when I tried logging into my online banking. At the same time, I accidentally hit "update" on the Bitdefender icon to update the latest virus and malware definitions. Now my iMac is slow and useless. I have iOS5 and the latest Snow Leopard. Help please!

Before we get too far, please clarify this part:
    I have a 2009 iMac 4,1
A 2009 iMac cannot be an iMac 4,1; they are 9,1 and higher. Did you mean to type "2006?" That would be an iMac 4,1. We need to pin down the model issue before proceeding.
It could be the drive, not the disk, that is dirty. Try a drive cleaning disk, usually about US$5-15 at home entertainment, electronics stores and office superstores

  • I recently upgraded firefox to 27.1 and it will not allow me to go log into my college website. It is also incredibly slow, what do I do?

I was previously able to log into humboldt.edu with the old version of fire fox, I finally upgraded because I was getting pestered with pop up windows saying I had to upgrade so I eventually gave in. Now, I am having to deal with scripts and manually having to block or unblock pages (which by the way is frustrating and I hate it, considering that I have no idea what I am doing) and I still cannot log into the one website that is vital in my life right now. I need this fixed now!

What is the block/unblock issue? Is this Firefox's setting that blocks "mixed active content" on secure sites? (Shield icon in the address bar; see [[How does content that isn't secure affect my safety?]])

  • I am using Firefox 4.01 on a Mac, I have entered usernames while logging into Yahoo and sometimes, because networks are slow, I have put the password in too - How can I get rid of usernames offered at the login stage?

When I go to log into Yahoo now it offers me a list of possible log on ids. Because of mistakes in typing some of them have the passwords on them too. How can I remove this list?

That worked and was really convenient - and I wouldn't have guessed it in a year. (Well I didn't guess it all last year anyway!)

  • Unable to log into iMessage and intermittent issues with FaceTime

Late 2011 MacBook Pro, OS X 10.8.4.  I'm an admin level Windows guy but a relatively new (and otherwise very pleased) convert to Mac OS.
This morning Messages started repeatedly prompting me for my iMessage password and FaceTime has starting working only intermittently.  Both work fine from my iPad and iPhone 5.  Both have been working from my MacBook Pro for months.
This morning when I tried to fire up Messages on the MacBook I got an error saying "The server encountered an error processing registration".  After doing some Googling, I noticed that many folks said that when they had this problem they also had an issue with FaceTime.  I confirmed that FaceTime was indeed giving me the same error as iMessage. After trying some solutions from past threads that didn't work, I rebooted.  Now instead of throwing an error, Messages just keeps asking me for my iMessage password again and again.  FaceTime works occasionally but sometimes when I get a call and click answer, I get "call failed" as my iPhone and iPad continue to ring and then I'm asked to re-enter my password on the MacBook.  If I enter my password it just sits and spins.  If i quit FaceTime and start it again, it'll usually log in successfully but calls may or may not work (following the same pattern I just mentioned).
The odd thing to me is that when I tested FaceTime on my iPad, I got notifications on my iPad and iPhone and my primary and alternate email address were now registered with FaceTime.  They have been for over a year so I'm not sure why I'm getting those notifications again.
I'm able to log into the Mac App store without a problem using the same AppleID
What I've tried so far based on Google results:
    1. In Keychain Access, reset my default keychain - No improvement
    2. In Keychain Access, selected Keychain First Aid, repaired and verified - No improvement
    3. On my iPad, turned iMessage off and back on - No improvement, though iMessage on the iPad still works fine
    4. Confirmed that my primary and secondary AppleID email addresses and password are correct.  The email address associated with my AppleID is not associated with any other AppleIDs.
    Thanks!

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Restart your broadband device and your router, if different. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 3
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or obviously invalid, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 4
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 5
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 6
    Select from the menu bar
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 7
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 8
Boot in safe mode and log in. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but didn't work when you booted out of safe mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 9
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 10
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 11
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.

  • Cannot log into any GUI modes and need to reinstall OSX

    Hi all,
I've been having issues with my iMac 27" i7 desktop which I purchased back in 2011 with OSX Lion.
I recently updated to OSX Mavericks and have some issues which I am trying to resolve.
I have been working through troubleshooting with the Apple Support team as it is still covered by the extended warranty that I purchased with the system.  Unfortunately it appears that we have come to the end of their technical support capabilities and I have no resolution.   Here is a quick breakdown of the situation:
While doing some gaming in a Bootcamp copy of Windows 7 the computer froze and displayed a green screen with vertical lines and was unresponsive.
Rebooted the machine into OSX Mavericks (upgraded about a month ago from Lion) and after the Apple symbol and loading wheel, when the machine went to display my desktop it froze with a completely white screen.
Tried to reboot back into Windows 7 and when it went to display the desktop it went to a grey screen with vertical lines.
Called the Apple Support line who advised me how to log into Safe Mode.   This worked ok and then I rebooted into OSX properly and my desktop displayed albeit running very slow.
Backed up my data and then while doing some web browsing the computer locked up and went to a blank screen.
Called the Apple Support line who took me into Recovery Mode and got me to Verify the Disk and Verify Disk Permissions.  Also advised me to run Apple Hardware Test.
Ran Apple Hardware Test and it said that there are "no problems"
Booted back into OSX which worked ok but still very slow.
During a data transfer the computer locked up with a black screen and the rainbow spinning wheel and was unresponsive.
After a few attempts I was able to log back in and complete my backup of crucial files.
Yesterday I went to boot the computer and it again gets to point after the Apple symbol and loading wheel where it would display my desktop and goes to blank screen.  Apple Support advised that the next step for testing purposes is to format the HDD and reinstall OSX.
No matter whether I am trying to boot into OSX, Safe Mode, Recovery Partition or Internet Recovery (I have tried all numerous times) whenever it gets to a point where the GUI would be displayed the machine locks up and I get a blank white screen.  I logged into Single-User Mode and ran a file system check which came up ok and I have run AHT again which came up ok as well, however considering that it doesn't matter where I boot to the same error occurs I believe that the issue is probably hardware related rather than software.  I have also followed the instructions to clear the PVRAM
I have booted to OSX using Verbose mode and noticed that there are a number of SMC errors and other messages indicating that there may be some software issues, so I am trying to troubleshoot those before I take the machine to the Authorised Apple Repair Centre
I have created an OSX Mavericks Boot USB but that comes up with a white screen as well if I boot to it.
I'm not sure if it will help, but I can select my recovery partition (OSX Base System) during boot and load into single user mode there.   I'm curious whether (and how) to run diskutils from there to verify disk and permissions for my primary partition (lets call it "Lion").  Then erase the disk and reinstall OSX from my boot USB.

You have to start the miniSAP instance before you can log in to it.
On your desk top there should be an icon 'start SAP WA1' start that, and leave the DOS window running until you are finished.
If you get messages in the DOS window saying processes died check that MS loopback is running.

When trying to log into face time I get the registering device does not have appropriate credentials after I sign in, I have OSX 10.8.4 on my Mac Pro. I can log into face time without a problem using my IPAD.>

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the issue is reolved. If there's no resolution after Step 3, post your results.
    Step 1
Sign out of iMessage in the Accounts tab of the preferences dialog, then sign back in.
    Step 2
Log out of your user account and log back in.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode and test, then reboot as usual and test again.

The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

  • Safari shuts down when logged into CBS Marketwatch

I'm experiencing problems with Safari shutting down while I'm logged into CBS marketwatch. This is the only site this seems to be happening on and it's doing it on my iMac and my Powerbook. Both are running OS X 10.3.8. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

    Timothy --
I don't have any problems with that site.
When updating Safari you should be careful that any third party "Internet Enhancing" apps are still compatible. Programs like SpeedDownload, iGetter, PithHelmet, Acid Search, Safari Enhancer all needed updating starting around 10.3.9. Also Norton apps (with the "possible" exception of NAV) became incompatible about 8.6 or 9.0. Definitely not good for OS X. Virex can cause problems as well. So everybody check to see if you have any of these apps, and let us know.
Also, here's my laundry list of things I do if & when Safari slows down.
    1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu
    2. Trash your Icons Folder:
    HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
    3. You might want to check all three "auto" preferences in Safari. Sometimes those lists gets very long and need pruning. (I turned all autofill boxes off, and have no problems.)
    4. Launch Font Book and check all fonts for duplicates. A duplicated font will have a bullet beside the font family and you can resolve duplicates by selecting the font and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Resolve Duplicates.
Do this for each font with a bullet next to it.
    If you're still having problems:
    5. Shut down your computer . . . unplug the computer, modem, and router, if you have one. Let everything sit for 2-3 minutes. Plug everything back in, start up your modem & router, then restart your computer.
You could also look for the CBS marketwatch cookies
    (.marketwatch.com) in your Safari>Preferences>Security>Show Cookies.
Delete the marketwatch ones and see if the problem goes away.
If it does, then those cookies somehow got corrupted.
    Hope this helps
