Small start questions

Hi there i have 2 question i do not understand after ready the beginners turbs on sun.
firs 1 is how to set the path. i know how to get to environment variables on xp. but what do i put at value and at variable. and do i put it at system or at user.
i know that i need to put the path ( c:\j2sdk1.4.2\bin ) there. do i need to fill that in at value. if yes what do i fill in at the variable.
That was the first question the second 1 is about setting path
I got this error and found this description
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorldApp
If you receive this error, java cannot find your bytecode file, HelloWorldApp.class.
One of the places java tries to find your bytecode file is your current directory. So, if your bytecode file is in C:\java, you should change your current directory to that. To change your directory, type the following command at the prompt and press Enter:
cd c:\java
The prompt should change to C:\java>. If you enter dir at the prompt, you should see your .java and .class files. Now enter java HelloWorldApp again.
If you still have problems, you might have to change your CLASSPATH variable. To see if this is necessary, try "clobbering" the classpath with the following command:
set CLASSPATH=
but my question is where do i put set CLASSPATH and what do i put after the = to get it work

after CLASSPATH= you write C:\java;C:\whatevere\other\dir\where\your\classes\are;.
notiece that . (dot), that means "current directory", that means java is looking for classes also in the directory where you called it from.
and furthermore, as you see, in MS systems (such as Windows*) you have to separate different paths with ';' not with ':' as you would want to normaly separate them.
good luck.

  • Three Getting Started Questions with RV180

    I recently purchased the RV180 router. I have a few quick "getting started" questions about using it:
    1. Is the "Static DHCP" the screen I need to use in order to reserve DHCP addresses (see attached)? That's where I've been reserving all my DHCP addresses with. I'm just making sure I have the correct screen.
    2. Do I need to do anything to "backup" my configuration, or will my settings still be around when the RV180 reboots?
    3. Do I need to run a check for firmware update on the RV180, and how do I update the firmware on the RV180 (as well as the SG200-18), or does it usually come with the latest firmware out-of-the-box? If I go ahead and put a service contract on the RV180 and SG200-18, will I receive my firmware updates automatically? Are the part numbers for the service contracts the same for the RV180 and SG200-18?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    1. Is the "Static DHCP" the screen I need to use in order to reserve DHCP addresses (see attached)? That's where I've been reserving all my DHCP addresses with. I'm just making sure I have the correct screen.
    Yes, that is the correct location to set DHCP reservations.
    2. Do I need to do anything to "backup" my configuration, or will my settings still be around when the RV180 reboots?
    Whenever you hit save after making a change you configuration is saved and will survive a reboot.
    If you would like to save  backup copy of your configration file just go to Administration >> Backup/Restore settings.
    You will need to manually update the firmware on the RV180.  That firmware is available here:
    RV180 Firmware
    It is simply one file, that you upload under Administration >> Firmware Upgrade.  There is no bootcode for the routers (like there was with your switch)
    You can locate this in the future the same way you did the SG200 firmware (because this link may change) on the Cisco website.
    As for the service contract, the part number for both of those devices will be CON-SBS-SVC2.
    Hope that helps, and I will try to get to your other questions sometime today as well.  Also since you just bought there you are of course welcome to call in and get some support over the phone, both your devices do come with 1 year of technical support, and it sounds like you are getting or have contracts, so I guess make that 3 years.

  • Advice for Building Small Network Question

    Hello,
    I am building a small network environment which will connect to a larger office, scalability is important.  We will begin having about 30 users which will all need VOIP services.  The VOIP services will be hosted by a cloud provider.  My question is as of now I am looking to obtain a Cisco 2921 ISR Router and then a Cisco 2960-X 48Gig POE, and my main question is I am confident the switch can handle the power and operation of the phones but just to make sure I should not run into any problems with the router as far as forwarding the data, correct?  Any other comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Small Text Question

    I'm trying to create a document with text sizes smaller than 6 pt. The problem is that the "Other" option in the drop-down menu is grayed out and I don't know why. I tried several different fonts and different types of fonts, but they all had the same problem.
    For the moment, I'm creating my text in Illustrator, then cutting and pasting it into InDesign, but I'd rather just create it in InDesign directly.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Didn't read the part about the drop-down menu. Was just looking in the character palette. Nonetheless, it may be the same thing. If the Other field in Cindy's character palette is greyed out as well, which I'm guessing it is, inputing a value there may jump start the whole thing.

  • Smart Start Question

    I posted a question and received a reply regarding a Viper Smart Start and I have one additional question. I have an appointment to have a couple of problems addressed this weekend at another Best Buy and noticed another possible problem today.
    I have always remote started when it was dark outside and the headlamps on auto so the headlights and parking lamps turn on when using the Viper. I started the Taurus today (daylight) to warm it after a recent snow and looked outside, no parking lamps on so I attempted to restart and still no parking lamps. After the third attempt to start I went out to the Taurus and it was running and probably started and shut down each time I used the Smart Start App.
    Shouldn't the parking lamps be on when the car is running?

    Yes.  They definitely should be on while it is remote started.  You definitely want to bring that up to the Autotechs when you take it back in.
    While I am employed by Best Buy, all of my posts here are in a non-official capacity. Any information or recommendations that are given are done so in an attempt to help in any way that I can and are not an official part of my job. If you feel that I have helped, feel free to give me Kudos or mark my post as a solution...I like to know how well I am doing.

  • Starter question: ear created on sun one studio can't be redployed

    Just start learning sun one studio. Followed the tutorial of helloworld, test succeed on sun one studio's RI server. I tried to redeploy the ear file on sun one's application 7, got error message:
    Deployment Error -- Error while running ejbc -- Fatal Error from EJB Compiler -- -- Failed to load deployment descriptor for: hello cause: Error reading from file: C:\Sun\AppServer7\domains\domain1\server1\applications\j2ee-apps\hello_2\sun-EJBModule_Greeter.xml
    under hello_2 folder, the applicaiton server unzipped descriptor is named: EJBModule_Greeter.xml.
    shouldn't the ear file be able to redeploy without modification on any J2EE complied application server? what did I do wrong?
    Thanks for your help.
    regards.

    I'll answer my own question - for anyone else who may want to know. The tool is SUN ONE Migration tool for application servers, and it can be found at URL http://www.sun.com/migration/sunonetools.html.
    The migration is from J2EERI to S1AS. I haven't tried it out yet , but will soon.
    Earlier I asked ...
    Do I understand correctly - I must use a migration
    tool to migrate from SUN ONE to SUN ONE?

  • Getting started question

    I'm sure I'll have fewer questions as times moves on, but here is another newbie question.
    I've gone through the initial getting started chapter on the 'Calculator' stateless session bean J2EE project.
    At the step:
    <i>Deploying and Running the Calculator Application</i>
    I think I successfully deploy my EAR.
    The page won't load in my browser.
    I've tried many flavors of localhost, localhost.corp.adobe.com, AHAMILTO1-XP and AHAMILTO1-XP.corp.adobe.com to port 50418/Calculator/Calculator.jsp.
    For example:
    http://localhost:50418/Calculator/Calculator.jsp
    Am I using the wrong port?  Is the port 50418 not an http port?  I guess I'm asking how do I determine my http port number?  I also tried 50000.
    I get the response during deployment:
    <i>Jan 11, 2005 2:27:57 PM /userOut/deploy (com.sap.ide.eclipse.sdm.threading.DeployThreadManager) [Deploy Thread] INFO:
    CalculatorEar.ear -> Successfully deployed file:/C:/DOCUME1/ahamilto/LOCALS1/Temp/temp54088CalculatorEar.ear
    DEPLOYMENT ...
    ==> SDM host : AHAMILTO1-XP
    ==> SDM port : 50418
    ==> URL : file:/C:/DOCUME1/ahamilto/LOCALS1/Temp/temp54088CalculatorEar.ear
    ... FINISHED SUCCESSFULLY</i>

    Hello,
    1. Does your browser show the startpage of your local WAS if you try URL http://localhost:50000
    2. Where does your port 50418 come from? It seams that you have several instances on your computer, maybe you should try http://localhost:50400/Calculator/Calculator.jsp to reach your application. XXX18 is normally the sdm port through which you deploy your application to j2ee engine.
    Maybe that helps,
    André

  • HT1695 i've recently got an iphone, and i did the starting questions i've connected to the wifi, but i won't activate. it also won't connect to itunes, please help

    i got an iphone the other day and when i started it up i answered the language questions and i've connected it to the wifi. just when i click next it wont activate, it's unable to connect to itunes as well, please help me

    First things first, You need to update your wifi security settings.  If its set at WEP, then change to WAP2.  If its already set that way, then you need to make sure iTunes is up to date on your computer, then update your software.

  • LR3 Getting Started questions

    I've been using Aperture since v2 and am looking to move to LR 3, but have some functionality questions before purchasing LR.
    Right off, this isn't meant as Aperture can, LR can't post.  It's meant as, LR has features that I like and am considering switching to it over Aperture as a result, but the following are 'must-have' and I just want to know from a technical standpoint if I can accomplish the same (similar) workflow in LR3.
    1.  Keywords: Can I assign keywords via the keyboard?
    Aperture
    Keyword set: Me, You, someone else
    Opt-1 will assign 'Me' to selected image(s), Opt-2 will assign 'You' to selected image(s).
    Keyword set: Cat, Dog, Rabbit
    Opt-1 will now assign 'Cat' to an image, Opt-2 will assign 'Dog' to an image.
    Can the same concept be done in LR?  If so, a link to a tutorial would be appreciated.
    2. Smart Albums (Collections in LR)
    Aperture
    I have a Project with 100 images, in that project I have 30 images in an Album1, 50 images in Album2.  Using Smart Album, I can create a rule that shows me only the 20 images that aren't in any Albums (ie. Album1 or Album2)
    Can the same concept be done in LR?  If so, a link to a tutorial would be appreciated.
    3. Refenced vs Managed
    I have a Reference library in A3.  Files reside on external HDD (~100 GB), library (previews, keywords, etc...) resides on internal HDD (~20 GB)
    Reason, I only have a 120 GB internal HDD.  Managed wouldn't fit on my internal HDD.
    I've added three images to a test LR, 2 MB each, and the resulting LR Catalog folder in the Finder is ~3MB.  Is the normal overhead in LR, ~50%.  If so, that won't work for me.  Are there pre-sets to reduce file info in LR?  Meaning, low-res previews, etc...
    4. Drag-Drop from Finder
    Is there a way to drag-drop images from the Finder to an existing Catalog?

    1.  Keywords: Can I assign keywords via the keyboard?
    Same as Aperture.
    Alt/Opt+n to assign keyword-n (where n is a number from 1 to 9);
    Alt/Opt+0 (zero) to cycle through Keyword Sets.
    2. Smart Albums (Collections in LR)
    Create a Smart Collection with the following rule: Collection doesn't contain "Album1" AND Collection doesn't contain "Album2".
    3. Refenced vs Managed
    Lightroom doesn't have "managed", only "referenced".
    The catalog size grows mostly because of the preview cache, which is always located next to catalog (unless you use some hacks). In Catalog Prefs, you have options for preview quality (low, med, high), size (1024, 1440, 1680, 2048 on the long side) as well as the max. time before discarding 1:1 previews.
    Those 3MB is you catalog + preview cache, and probably some initial overhead for an empty catalog (an empty database cannot be as small as 0KB).
    As a general rule of thumb, I think 1MB per image for the preview cache is a good guess. So, for a 50k catalog you need 50GB for preview cache. The catalog itself must be below 1GB for this number of images.
    4. Drag-Drop from Finder
    At least on Windows, it works quite well. You drop the files and Lightroom pops up the Import dialog with only those files that you've dropped being selected for import, even if the folder in Finder/Explorer has more files.

  • Starter Question: how I can get faster the extansion of a file?

    Hi all,
    I'm a Java starter ... sorry for simple question ;-)
    I use java.io.File and want to have the extension (suffix) of an file.
    x is typ 'File' and I use x.list of a root directory. Now I want to check if the file is from typ *.exe.
    My solution in moment is:
    x.getAbsoluteFile().toString().toLowerCase().endsWith("exe")
    This solution works, but I searching for an other solution because I think this one is very slow in runtime.
    Can anyone help me?
    cu
    Stefan

    This is the most efficient code I can make of it, but I can't see why this would be much faster than yours.import java.io.*;
    public class Test {
        public static void main (String[] parameters) {
            File[] files = new File ("c:\\windows").listFiles ();
            for (int f = 0; f < files.length; f ++) {
                File file = files[f];
                if (! file.isDirectory ()) {
                    String fileName = file.getName ();
                    int lengthOfFileName = fileName.length ();
                    if ((lengthOfFileName >= 4) && fileName.substring (fileName.length () - 4).equalsIgnoreCase (".exe")) {
                        System.out.println (file.getName ());
    }Please show some respect to the people who tried to help you and do something with their advice.
    Kind regards,
    Levi

  • ITunes won't start--question a/b msconfig solution

    Hi all,
    I'm having the same problem as everyone else w/ regards to the iTunes not starting due to problem w/ QT not opening correctly. I tried the msConfig solution and it does work, but I have a question--is this allowing my computer to be susceptible to virueses? I tried to manually start my antivirus system (symantec) and it instantly closed down itunes.
    Someone please help!

    Thanks Harv55, but I have already done this twice and nothing happened...
    I have even installed separately Quicktime but this didn't help either.

  • Small Taglib question

    HI I just would like to know if I'm right
    I want a tag that writes in jsp a link for an alias.
    The parameter is the key of a hashtable and
    the return value is the link
    Is it correct just to write this simple line?
    Thanks Starki
    * Method called at start of tag.
    * @return SKIP_BODY
    public int doStartTag() throws JspException
    try
    JspWriter out = pageContext.getOut();
    out.write(LinkPool.getLink(linkAlias));
    catch(Exception exception)
    throw new JspException("Could not save body");
    return SKIP_BODY;
    }

    Can someone give me a small hint?
    Thanks a lot!

    My laptop won't start, there is a question mark on the screen.

    Your MBP is having problems finding the HDD.  Try these steps:

    Do not dismiss the possibility that the HDD has failed or the connection is faulty.
