Smart TV internet overseas?

I'm considering buying a smart tv, but i'm moving overseas shortly. From experience, I know that several internet sites block access based on my proxy location, so I'm wondering if this will be the same case if I try to use the internet function of a smart tv to access video streaming sites like netflix when i am overseas. Does anyone know if this will be an issue and if so, is there is a workaround? thanks!

Many of the "smart" functions are region based and will not work overseas. There is no owrkaround...or at least one the is legal and can be advised here.

Blackberry Desktop Software shuts down when running Sprint Smart View Internet Service (Air Card)

Just installed Blackberry Desktop Software and it runs ok when I am not running Sprint Smart View (This is my program for my internet service / sprint air card). As soon as I start Sprint Smart View the desktop software no longer works and just shuts itself down after a minute or two.

I'm not familiar with this particular package, but with similar packages from other carriers there's usually a setting that lets the program control your Network - it may only say Wi-Fi.
The BlackBerry drivers include a Dial-Up connection which is probably getting shut down by the software which kills Desktop Manager.
If you turn off that option, the problem should go away (reboot probably a good idea).

Smart Phone Internet Charges

Does anybody else have this problem? I have a family of five. All of my kids are of the age to have cell phones and want and in some cases need the smart phones. My husband and I need the smart phones for work purposes. So, all of us are wanting the smart phones which means the higher monthly internet charges attached to EACH phone PER month! Our cell phone bill is about to put us in the poor house!! They (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc., etc.) keep coming out with better and better technology that helps us in and out of the office, in and away from home or school, don't you think it is about time that Verizon gets up to date with their plans?
I think it is about time that they come out with a plan to help larger families that have this many smart phones on one plan. GIVE US A DISCOUNT VERIZON!!!!! I don't want to go to another provider!! You say you're the best, and I believe it! I've heard about the other providers! Reward us for our dedication to you!

children dont NEED smartphones, if they do they are usually old enought to be working part time and can help with the bill

LG Smart TV internet connection (cable)

I have recently purchased a LG model LM8600 Smart TV. I have had no problems with the wireless connection but when I try and set up the wired connection, the TV continually disconnects from the wired network (after a few minutes) and then it will reconnect on its own (eg if in the middle of a Youtube clip) or otherwise I need to go into the TV setup menu and reconnect the wired network which then drops out again after a further short period of time. The modem/router is located right where the TV is situated and I have tried some different ethernet cable to make sure that was not the problem. Also, the TV retailer thinking it was problem with the ethernet port on the TV agreed to change the TV over but I have had the same problem with the replacement TV so I am guessing that the problem is with the internet side of things. The BP cable service (Ultimate plan) was setup about a week before the TV was delivered so its all latest model modem/router as well (NetGear brand). Can anyone help on this ?

I had the same problem. You can find people reportig this problem in lots of forums. The issue is that LG TV network adapters support 10/100Mb lan connections.
So if you have it wired to a GigaBit router (1000Mb/ps) you get the connectivity issue.
Seriously sad right. But it is true....even states it in their documentation:-
You can use a standard LAN cable to connect to the network.Use a Cat5 or higher cable with a RJ45 connector.Connect the cable to a 10 Base-T or 100 Base TX LAN port.

So there a couple of things to try, in order:-
1. Try using a cat5 100Mb cable instead of cat5e or Cat6 cable. This is working for me.
2. If you have an option in your router to set a specific port speeds i.e. port 1 to 100Mb then do that.
3. Connect a cheap 100Mb ethernet switch to your gigabit router/switch and plug tv into that.
It has to be said if your TV supports Wireless AC (2015 model definately) you are better using that as its faster than the100Mb ethernet your tv can provide....god knws why they arent using a gigbit lan connectoner, maybe they are and its just not working.

Need some help activating my face time on my new phone. Am overseas and not in phone range so trouble shooting is difficult

I maybe completely off base (i don't have t-mobile) but it was my understanding that you would still need a 'data' plan for a) most of the applications to work and b) to receive service books etc and that the wi-fi would only give you access to 'website' and not the email etc.
If the unit is rebooting, then it would be sign of a bad BB, I would recommend reinstalling the OS using the desktop manager but if you just got the unit and are still in the 15-30 day period (not sure how long t-mobile does a return) I would ask for a replacement unit.
Again, not sure on the top part so hopefully someone else may have an answer for you.

Hi Tim, thanks for the info, but from what I've been able to gather the bandwidth monitoring stats/log is separate from the router's internal syslog. I did learn though that in addition to supporting CIFS, the bandwidth log can also be saved to the router's RAM, NVRAM or a custom location on the router (such as /tmp/).
So now I'm wondering, not having much experience at all with Automator, could I use it to create an action that uses telnet to login to the router periodically and downloads the bandwidth log from say the /tmp/ directory? BTW - I did find some good reference material on telnet (and SSH) so I now know how to use them via the terminal to access the router and download the log - I'm just not sure about the Automator part.
Alternatively, if I continue to use CIFS to have the bandwidth log go to my Windows machine, could I use an Automator action to periodically copy the downloaded file over to my Mac?
What do you think? Do either of these sound like something I could do with an Automator action? Perhaps I should start a thread in the Automator forum...

How do I add a family member onto the contract?

Right now my whole contract is under my husbands name and because of that I can't do anything to the account. He's currently stationed in Korea and I keep getting calls from Verizon about it but I can't take the calls or get any information. Please I need help!!!

Thank you for your inquiry JessicaMakowski. Adding to what was stated, if your spouse has access to the internet overseas, he can go onto My Verizon, log in and add you on as Account Manager. Afterward he can give you the billing account password he created. That way when contacting customer service for account assistance, you can provide that same password to verify the account information as needed for authorized access. Samsung remote app no longer working

Bought Samsung SMART tv (Internet) and downloaded the Samsung Remote app onto my iPad-all worked well for 2 weeks then suddenly the app says No Device. I know the Internet connection on the tv is ok. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

On the Samsung try:
Menu > system (scroll down to) network control
May show "on" ... Select this as there more 'inside'
Devices associated with TV are listed.
I had the same problem and my iPad was listed here as "denied"
Apparently the tv will reject until this is reset.

Usually I use IE7 for testing my WD-Applications with enabled active scripting.
Now I thought I disable active scripting on my client in order to test server-side rendering
of plain html...
I only get the error: WebDynpro Exception: Client Does Not Support JavaScript
What´s wrong? I expected an other result... Thought WD is sooo flexible ???

The article that you have chosen is rather old and represented some of the design goals of Web Dynpro back in 2004 before the project was completed. I see other items in the article (like the Dynpro/Web Dynpro integration for ABAP) that were dropped before the final release of the product as well.
I believe that quote you focused in on was:
"While smart browsers (Internet Explorer as of version 5.5 and Netscape Navigator as of version 7.0) can run our client-side JavaScript, future versions of the Web Dynpro runtime will send server-side generated HTML without any scripting to every other browser."
What you need to understand is that the idea of having a clear separation between the CSF and the SSF was an original design aspect of Web Dynpro that was elimated before the final product was delivered to market. Part of the reasoning is that mainstream browser usage advanced to the point where the need to support non-JavaScript browsers was largely a moot point by the time Web Dynpro was released. Therefore producing a rendering engine that has no scripting no longer had much value. So deactiving scripting support in Web Dynpro today, does result in the error message that you received by design. You can always check the latest supported browser versions for Web Dynpro by viewing the Platform Availability Matrix on the Service Marketplace.

New MacBook Pro slower than a snail

I have just upgraded to a new MacBook, and am having speed issues, first with Mountain Lion and now with Mavericks. It seems as though almost all operations, even selecting a file in the Finder, bring up the beach ball of death, and opening applications like Keynote or Pages can take 30 or more seconds. I am not here to knock Apple, although as a 20+ year user I am disappointed since this is the first time I have ever encountered anything lke this, but I am lost as to where to begin to correct this. Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key.
The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, stop here and post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
Step 2
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Reset the System Management Controller.
Run Software Update. If there's a firmware update, install it.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a portable computer, check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane. See whether there's any change.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the View menu or the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for User, System, and Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the Memory tab. What value is shown in the bottom part of the window for Swap used?
Next, select the Disk tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in andWrites out.)
Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

Itunes freezes when i try to download tracks

I purchased an album on the itunes store and when i tryed to download it the application froze. i quit the ap and even tryed to reboot the computer and it still freezes everytime i try. if it would be of any help to figure out whats wrong, when i go onto the itunes store, it comes up like a non-smart phone internet ap...

No, i don't have iTunes Match or iCloud activated for my Music Library (iTunes), I do have "Genius" syncing.

How to effectively Create a Whitelist of External Recipients

This question surrounds controlling our outbound mail flow for an application that relays off our Exchange 2013 server.
Exchange is a single server deployment of 2013
Mail Flow:
Application -> Anonymous Receive Connector -> Smart host -> Internet
Goal:
I need a way, from what I can see, using Transport Rules, to create a whitelist of external recipients that we can relay to. Our application has the capability of sending out emails to "registered users", where a registered user is a valid
consumer with a valid external email address. I need to allow this application to relay anonymously through Exchange 2013, but only allow it to relay to a list of email addresses (around 230 email addresses) that are across different domains (gmail,
hotmail, etc)
I can see that by using Transport Rules, I could create a list of emails to BLOCK, but I am having a hard time figuring out how to set up a rule to ALLOW a list while blocking all others.

So, just to anyone who searches and finds this, here is what I did to get this running. Pretty basic actually:
In the Exchange 2013 Control Panel, go to Mail Flow > Rules
Add a new rule:
If Recipient is located: Outside the organization
Do the following: Reject the message
Except If Recipient is a member of : <internal distribution list>**
or If Recipient address includes : <list of domain names>
** distribution list is a Smart DL aimed at an OU with all of our external QA contacts
Good to go!
It only creates an issue as every external contact you want to send to has a contact in the OU - for us, it is not a big deal as this is a QA/Dev Exchange server, so no clients actually connect to it.

I need more vram

I have some games for my mac, but they are lagging. I have done some tests with activity monitor, and my RAM and my CPU are not the issues. I went to the support for the game, and it told me that my mac didn't have enough vram. I know I cannot change my graphics card because it is soldered to the logic board, so is there some way I can do a target disk type thing where I have external VRAM?
