Doh!
Sad part is I punched in /usr instead of usr multiple times

When I was begining my adventure with Arch and making my first packages, I put "rm -rf /usr/lib" instead of "rm -rf $startdir/pkg/usr/lib" in the build function of one of PKGBUILDs. It took me about one hour before I noticed /usr/lib had gone to the hell, and another hour before I figured out why.
Oh, did you know that you can do safely "rm -rf /"? I tried it once when I needed to reinstall my old Slackware and it didn't do anything. But then, "rm -rf /*" did

  • How do I adjust keyframes for smoother movement in FCPX?

    I am having a lot of trouble adjusting keyframes in Final Cut Pro X.  I have a video project that is 97% still images. All I want to do is simple pans and zooms across the picture. The keyframes in FCPX are giving me nightmares.  I spent all day trying to figure this out.  Please help!
    First I tried to apply Ken Burns to my first still image.  This effect has the image start slowly, then picks up speed, then slows back down to stop.  That's not what I want.  I want constant movement.  How do I adjust the easing in and out?  If not, then this is a beautiful but completely useless effect.
    So next I try to manually keyframe.  I select my first still image, click Transform, then option-click to put the first keyframe.  I move the position, then do the second keyframe.  Again, it wants to ease in and out.  So I click on the "Video Animation Editor". In the Position area it shows a keyframe at the beginning and ending of this still image.  But all I can do is drag these around.  How do I see the path and adjust/remove the easing in/out?
    I look up in the Viewer window.  When Transform is on, there is a bounding box with blue dots, but where is the keyframe interpolation editor?  How do I find it?  How do I adjust any keyframes?  In the upper right hand, I can delete a keyframe or move back and forth to the previous/next keyframe, but that's it?
    This has been so frustrating, and I'm working on a paying project for a client.  If you can supply any help I would GREATLY appreciate it!
    Sincerely,
    Paul

    Thank you Russ, this certainly helps me out a little bit.  It's not made very clear in other places I've seen that you have to click on the keyframe in the middle of the picture.  Throughout most of yesterday I was clicking on the keyframe in the upper right corner and nothing was happening.  But this all still feels kinda limited however especially compared with what I could do in FCP7.  Is this all FCPX has to offer?  Perhaps I don't understand how this works?
    When I click on the keyframe, I get only two choices, linear or smooth.  Yet, the still image still does this ease in and out thing.  How can I adjust that?  Aslo, how can I make constant movement? If I want it to go from picture to picture with constant movement, never starting and stopping, how do I make that happen?

  • How Can I Make Smooth Moves of Still Images?

    I'm doing a lot of moving stills in a current project, but I can't figure out how to add acceleration curves to the moves. I know the pen tool has a "smooth point" to add curves to keyframes, but I don't know where to apply them. I can apply them in the "scale" setting in the viewer, but not "center."
    I'm sure there's an easy way, but I can't figure it out. Id prefer to do it in the canvas if possible. I want to reposition, slide, and zoom my photos so they don't "clunk" on the keyframes.

    In the Canvas, make sure you're in Image + Wireframe mode.
    Set up the basic move:
    - position the layer at one end of the motion
    - set one keyframe on Center
    - move the playhead to the other end of the intended motion and move the layer again.
    Right-click on the closing keyframe and choose Linear. Look really closely at the motion path (a series of small purple squares) in the Canvas. Connected to the currently selected keyframe (green square) are two circles, one dark purple and one light purple.
    The lighter circle controls the curve of the motion. Adjusting this will change the path the object moves along.
    The darker circle controls the acceleration. You'll see the smaller purple squares bunch up or spread out as you drag the darker purple circle; the further away the squares are from one another, the faster the motion.
    Since you want to keep the path the same but change the acceleration, just move the darker circles. Ease In/Ease Out will start the process for you but with less control.
    If all that doesn't give you the results you're looking for, consider using Motion or iPhoto instead. Some third-party plug-ins can also help if you're doing this a lot.

  • Smooth .mov - jerky .mp4-

    Ok, this one puzzles me.
    I have this nice and heavy 900MB lossless mov file.
    It’s been exported from Screenflow at the best possible quality (lossless, 1280x720, 48kHz audio…)
    It plays well on this mac.
    Except on this machine I don’t have the sources anymore, so i’ll have to work with that.
    I need to turn this into an mp4/h264 so it can be broadcasted (end file goes to a mooc)
    Interesting thing i that, where the .mov file displays a really smooth screen recording, any attempt and settings tweaks I’ve made so far keep getting me jerky results. On my side, weight of the file isn’t an issue, so I put the levels up, reduced the in-between frames value, upped the bitrate.
    No luck so far.
    Would anyone be interested into checking this file and tell me if something can be done, and what would be the required settings to have an .mp4 as smooth as the original .mov ?
    120MB zip, inside is a 400MB .mov file (removed, this one was exporting nicely…)
    2A-FolioOverlays-Multimedia.mov.zip - Google Drive

    Ok, some news on my side.
    I checked the project file i sent you to discover that this particular project exported "smoothly enough". Then back to the first one I mentionned (900MB file) was still jerky. That's where I tried importing in premiere to reexport again, and read this in the project manager :
    It seems I have an export problem… from Screenflow, which makes it hard to get a smooth export/conversion/transcoding, and only on the 0, 2A, 2B files…
    So i'll share you the 2A-FolioOverlays-Multimedia.mov.zip - Google Drive let me know if you do better than what I got

  • Not smooth movements on TV screen

    Hello,
    Who can help me?
    I have an iMAC G5 with OS-Panther and super drive. When I burn a DVD, and play them on a stand allone DVD-player, the movements are not smooth, they are shuttering. Not so on the iMAC Screen. Also not, when I burn a DVD on a stand allone DVD-burner/player. It seems to be like a progressive modus and not an interlaced modus on the TV screen. Is it possible to make settings before burning the DVD to have better results for TV screens?
    Thanks for an answer and excuse my English. My mothertongue is german!
    Hannes

    Hi Jessica,
    The FiOS mobile remote widget is located inside the main FiOS TV widget menu.  This should be the first screen you see up top when you hit the Widgets button on your remote.  Once you hit OK, go down to 'Featured' and you should see the mobile remote widget on the right.  If you are still having trouble with the widgets screen displaying blank information, you can reset your box in one of two ways.  You can unplug it from the power for 30 seconds, or if the power cord is difficult to get to, hit menu on the FiOS remote, go down to 'Customer Support' then to 'In-Home Agent' then 'Reboot Set-Top Box', hitting OK here will have your box cycle through.  Then try the Widgets again, if you are still having trouble feel free to PM me.

  • Smooth movement of images

    Hi, I am just experimenting with a kind of JavaFX slide show component but I have a problem with smoothly letting images flow over the screen. Especially when the images are moving slowly you can see them jump from one pixel position to the next. JavaFX does not seem to be able to place images at sub-pixel positions which seems to make the difference when I compare the result with other solutions like, e.g. Flash. Can anybody confirm this observation or even better show me how to get around this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Michael

    The code is fairly simple. Here it is:
    (Running on Mac OS from NetBeans.)
    var image = Image {
        url: "{__DIR__}some_image.jpg"
    var x: Number;
    var y: Number;
    var scene : Scene = Scene {
        content: [
            ImageView {
                image: image
                fitWidth: 640
                fitHeight: 480
                preserveRatio: true
                smooth: true
                cache: true
                translateX: bind x
                translateY: bind y
    var stage : Stage = Stage {
        title: "Image Viewer"
        width: 640
        height: 480
        scene: scene
    Timeline {
        repeatCount: Timeline.INDEFINITE
        autoReverse: true
        keyFrames: [
            at (0s) {[x => 0.0, y => 0.0]}
            at (3s) {[x => 300.0 tween Interpolator.LINEAR, y => 100.0 tween Interpolator.LINEAR]}
    }.play();I will have a look at the examples mentioned.

  • New computer... best way for a smooth move?

    going from pc to macbook...
    i have a full iphone
    10gigs of music
    a bunch of videos
    and about 25 ringtones
    i dont want to lose anything.
    and i know its probably been asked a thousand times...
    but, can someone tell me how to move?

    I have done the same thing you are doing. I went from a PC, prior to having the iPhone, only the iPod 80 gig video, to a macbook. I promise my situation was worse, since all I had was an old ghost of my HD, since the actual was taken by the Army enroute back from Iraq without me. Anyway, it is possible, and not that difficult to go from PC to MAC, though all data on the iPhone must be on the PC prior to transfer.
    Step One: On your PC locate the iTunes folder, default location for this is in the My Music Folder, where you will see other items within your pc's itunes. Copy that to an external HD, or just take the HD out of the PC and use a USB to IDE converter to plug in directly.
    Once the info is on a drive plugged into the new mac open itunes, ensure that under preferences it is set to copy music on import, and add the folder iTunes from the PC.
    This should include any ringtones, as they are m4r files, and used in the same format for either operating sys.
    Got it??

  • Wife got a 3GS to replace her 2G... not a smooth move

    What was to be a happy evening has been a giant pain. Backing up her 2G was a exercise in futility... it timed out (or whatever) and even uninstalled apps she had installed directly on her iPhone via the internet/WiFi. They just disappeared, ponderous! In fact simply backing up her phone for it to carry over some of the basics is proving to be almost unaccomplishable with the cluster F that is iTunes and her 2G. Why on earth is there not some simple utility to back up pictures, contacts, wallpapers, etc for them to be integrated on a new phone. Why does it says it is backing up and sit there for hours doing nothing? Why does it start backing up apps and then give a quick error message and then stop?
    < Edited by Host >

    You're post is lacking in details like what operating system you are using, whether you have the most recent iTunes, whether you have security software on your machine, etc.
    Backing up in iTunes is a very simple process. I do it 4 or 5 times a week and it's a very quick thing. I also import my pictures to iTunes every few days.

  • How to make smooth line movement?

    Hello!
    I've been searching it everywhere, but couldn't find anything in the net. I want to make smooth line movement. I've tried to create motion, but line just moves, and I want it to move smoothly according to the path. What I want to achieve can be seen here:
    http://www.noartistname.com/demo/
    But that's what I did so far - made movement out of several broken lines - how can I make more smooth movement?
    Thanks,
    Aleks.

    the easiest for non-coders is to tween a mask of the full line.  you can also use the flash drawing methods but that takes some coding.  see:
    www.kglad.com , click snippets, function graphs.

  • Making an Object Move (Smoothly) in AS3

    Hi again, I think I might of already posted this, but the forums are loading at about 400k a sec so I don't feel like wwasting another 25 minutes just look through the first page of threads or my history.
    I have an object that I want to smoothly move along the x axis when the user clicks on the screen.  I first made a prototype that would make the ball end at a location I specified by doing x = 450;.  I then tried looping ball1.x += 1 with a for/do (I encapsulated it with a boolean so the if ball1.x got to 450 it would stop) statement and I couldn't see the ball transition, I just saw it stop at the 450 mark.  Anyone know how to do this?  I know you do because I've seen you it.
    BTW, the reason I didn't just do a motion tween was because I have it set up so you can move it along the y axis by moving the mouse.  Thanks in advance.

    You can find all of the information about the Tween class in the help documentation.
    Here's a line copied from the Tween constructor section.
    public function Tween(obj:Object, prop:String, func:Function, begin:Number, finish:Number, duration:Number, useSeconds:Boolean = false)
    Parameters
    obj:Object — Object that the Tween targets.
    prop:String — Name of the property (obj parameter value) that will be affected.
    func:Function — Name of the easing function to use.
    begin:Number — Starting value of the prop parameter.
    finish:Number — A number indicating the ending value of prop parameter (the target object property to be tweened).
    duration:Number — Length of time of the motion; set to infinity if negative or omitted.
    useSeconds:Boolean (default = false) — A flag specifying whether to use seconds instead of frames. The function uses seconds if true or frames in relation to the value specified in the duration parameter if false.

  • Problems with image movement

    Hello everybody:
    First of all let me tell you that I am not a DVD wise person. I am starting to use iDVD and hope to soon be able to use DVD Studio Pro. The problem that I have is that I created a presentation in Motion using only photographies. The project was done using the Full HD(HDV1080p 30) format and saved as a quicktime file. When the file is played it looks great with smooth movements, but when transferred to iDVD the pictures still look good but the effects and movements are not smooth anymore, they stutter at times... This is the first time that I have this problem, maybe because I tried to do the project in full HD format? Or maybe is a problem of the speed of the data transfer? I know iDVD has a menu that allows to burn a DVD with Pro quality but I am still getting the same result.
    Also please...could someone recommend me some webpage o text regarding dvd recording for beginners?
    Thanks a lot for you help...

    Hi
    One thing
    iDVD - Can't do HD - not any version of it
    DVD Studio pro - most probably
    Roxio Toast™ - at least with Blue-Ray component to Blue-Ray burner/disks (DVD too but very short eg 20-30 minutes)

  • Flash movie not showing in IE

    On the home page of one of my sites, I have included a small
    Flash movie which displays (almost0 perfectly in Firefox, but just
    appears as a small white box in IE (it's over on the right side of
    the page). Any ideas?
    Also, the motion of the movie is a bit "jerky" and not as
    smooth as expected. Is this a known problem?
    This site

    For your IE problem see
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_4150&sliceId=2
    The smoothness of a flash movie is dependent on the number of
    frames per minute you have set. Generally, more frames per minute =
    smoother movement.

  • Does *anyone* get smooth .wmv playback on their Mac?

    I have a Powerbook G4 running 10.4.10.
    I have Quicktime 7.1.3.
    I have a Quicktime plug-in that plays .wmv clips. (Flip4Mac)
    I have numerous short clips in .wmv format, anywhere from a 1 meg to 15 megs.
    It seems the smaller files seem to play a little better, but still not perfectly.
    The larger files...forget it...I see one frame every three seconds. That frame freezes until three seconds later another frame comes up. This is especially the case when the larger clips are HD.
    I received the advice to go to window > show movie properties > other settings > preload this track into memory. It had no effect whatsoever. Still a jumpy and unusable picture.
    Is anyone getting quality playback that can offer the secrets of using Quicktime as a smooth movie playback device instead of what looks like a slide-viewer?

    I took your advice, Topotone, and opened up my activity monitor. I don't know what kind of numbers I'm supposed to be seeing, but it looks like nothing surprising is showing up. My Firefox browser uses up the overwhelming percentage of processor speed, followed by the activity monitor itself. Then there's a long list of things that use up pretty tiny numbers.
    Everything has gotten slow on my Powerbook. These days, if I try to take a screen shot, I hear hard drive noises for over ten seconds before the photo clicks! Simple streaming like a news media viewer starts and stops every few seconds. (That's even after I've allowed the whole video to load using the pause button.)
    I'd love to know what I've installed or what setting I've set that is slowing me down so badly.

  • Tile based movement in flash as3

    Hello i am currently working on the engine for a tiled based game. I have set up the map using a 2 dimensional array. Movement wise i have just increased/decreased the x/y position of my characer by the same amount of pixels as my tiles. Anyway of course this does not look good as my character is just "teleporting" to the next tile. Perhaps anyone can help me how to make some smooth movement and still ensure that my character will end up in the middle of a tile (Just like in the pokemon games).
    Any help is much appreciated - John

    I have tried both tweening and actionscript. But no matter what the long line of cans are moving "choppy".
    The image is a jpg exported for web in Photoshop. And "Allow smoothing" is on.
    What can be done to have a smooth movement of the cans?
    AS I used is somethingt like this from
    http://www.flashvalley.com/fv_tutorials/updateAfterEvent/page2.php
    setInterval(moveSphere, 10);
    // this is our main function that will animate the ball
    function moveSphere() {
    if (greenSphere._x>220) {
    sphereDirection = "left";
    if (greenSphere._x<5) {
    sphereDirection = "right";
    if (sphereDirection == "right") {
    greenSphere._x += 2;
    } else {
    greenSphere._x -= 2;
    // here we refresh the screen each time the function is called, in our case every 10ms
    updateAfterEvent();
    Regards
    Olle

    It is likely a combination of the amount of movement and the time between moves.
    A better method would be to use TweenLite or another AS2 Tweening class.  They are easier to implement also;
