SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP component failed to reinstall

Hi,
I have a problem with SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP component on my SCCM SQL server. The SQL server is running on Windows Server 2003 x64 SP2 and site is in Native mode running SCCM SP1 R2 on Windows Server 2003 SP2 (separate servers)
I've enabled a Backup ConfigMgr Site Server maintance task 2 weeks ago and since then site backup was running fine.
Few days ago I've noticed that SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP component start to log following errors:
"SMS Site Component Manager failed to reinstall this component on this site system.
Solution: Review the previous status messages to determine the exact reason for the failure. SMS Site Component Manager will automatically retry the reinstallation in 60 minutes. To force SMS Site Component Manager to immediately retry the reinstallation, stop and restart SMS Site Component Manager using the SMS Service Manager."

I've rechecked all the permissions and they're OK. Site server computer account is a local admin on the sql box (SQL and main SCCM server are separate servers). All other SCCM components are working fine.
When I tried to query this component I'm getting error: Error communicating with component I've applied patch specified here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/957879 but it didn't resolve this issue.
Is there something I'm missing ? Is there any other log to be checked ?
Any help Appreciate

We are running Server 2008 R2 with SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 and I was also worried about the differnet numbers from the solutions I was finding. I was having the same issue since installation with the sitecomp log showing:
"Component file list item in the install map for component SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP does not contain srvboot.exe"
We worked out that numbers are not the file version but the file size in bytes (My x86 smssqlbkup.exe was like yours 765280).
The file size of our srvboot.exe was 333,664 bytes, thus I added the line:
    FILE <srvboot.exe><0><333664>
We restarted Component Manager and finally got a successfull install of the SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP component.
For reference here is the part from our install.map

    I concur with Vik, sitecomp.log records details about the maintenance of the installed site components on all site system servers in the site.

  • Cs3 install/repair/reinstall, install component failed-----SOLUTION!!!

    Ok, after searching the internet for solutions on how to install/reinstall/repair CS3, I found I was not satisfied with anyone's answers.
    Well, I've finally got it!
    Do what adobe tells you---run that script (CS3clean).
    However, after running the script, you will notice that the installation will still fail.  So to get around that, go into your folders and delete any folder that says Adobe.  Check your hidden folders too!
                   C:\Users\<your username>\AppData
                             check in local, roaming, and locallow
    There are adobe folders in I think all those locations.  Go to Add/Remove Programs, too and delete anything adobe (I took no chances because installing takes forever, and it's frustrating to see the "component failed to install" message).
    Also as a precaution, I turned off my firewall.
    That did it for me!!!  Good luck, and I hope this helps.

  • Error: Component failed to run due to a Object Package scheduling failure

    Hi,
    BusinessObjects XI R2 SP 5, FP 5.1
    I am trying to schedule a group of reports (crystal reports) via a package where the output destination is to an email. At the event of execution of the scheduled time for the package; the package fails with the error: Component failed to run due to a Object Package scheduling failure. (Note: When scheduled individually it is successful and it was copied to the package from its original location, so there is no mistake in parameters or ODBC connections)
    When we go to the history and within the instance, we see that some of the reports have the status as success and some are failed with the same error message. Even though some of the reports are made to fail at the event of 'NO DATA'; what I do not understand is that how come some of the other reports (which contains data and which works when trying to run manually or scheduled individually) are failing.
    I would understand something is wrong when the entire package fails which is not the case here as say of 50 reports, 5 are successful and the rest fails with the same error.

    Sorry posted on the wrong section...

  • "Component Install Failed" while reinstalling Web Premium CS3

    I purchased Web Premium CS3 about a year and a half ago, and have been using it successfully.  However, my machine recently experienced some operating system issues and the decision was made to reinstall the OS.  I was very careful to deactivate my CS3 software beforehand.
    Now I am trying to reinstall my software and I am receiving an error message that simply says "Component Install Failed."  What should I do?

    Run the Cleaner tool: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
    Delete the caps.db in C:\Program Files\Common files\Adobe\caps and its backups
    Reinstall the programs
    You will get the same error
    Uninstall it again from your Add or Remove Programs system control panel without deleting the caps
    Reinstall again
    This is a bug in the CS3 installer that requires this convoluted procedure. And naturalyl make sure you have sufficient user privileges and turned off your security tools or other potential interferences.

    I had reformatted my hard drive and updated to Windows 7 without uninstalling or deactivating Adobe. So then when I tried to reinstall, it blocked me from activating. After doing an online chat with Adobe, they cleared up the activation block, but I still keep getting an error after installation completes that says all installs failed excpet for the free Adobe Acrobat.

  • CS3 won't start after system restore, fails to reinstall

    I am running CS3 design premium on Windows 8. I've have the computer (Lenovo with Intel i5) for two months, though I used the design suite on my previous computer. I had to run System Restore to fix a problem with Firefox, and after I did none of my Adobe products worked. I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times while following the Adobe Help page "error message at installation" guide. Each time I get the message that Acrobat installed correctly, and everything else "Component install failed." I also wiped everything Adobe off the program list (there were a few CC programs I had trialed, plus Flash Player and some plugins) ran the CC cleaner and still got the same error message. I even tried downloading the program files from Adobe in case there was a problem with my disk and that wasn't it either. I tried enabling FLEXnet and installing under a new user, each to no avail. Examining the log file found no instances of "Return value 3" and "FATAL." The search for "ERROR" found several items that I had either already tried or made no sense.
    I ran the system restore again to an earlier point, and now I can't even uninstall anything. The CC cleaner tells me some files could not be cleaned, and I should close my browser and try again, but there are no browsers open. Restarted computer and tried again, same thing. It seems I've tried all the options.
    Super frustrated.

  • Intel Mac Mini crash.  Restore from TimeMachine failed.  Reinstall from DVD failed

    I am at a loss.  My Mac Mini (Intel 2.53ghz, 10.6.7, 4gb RAM) froze today.  Mouse would still move the cursor, but nothing responded.  After letting it go for perhaps a half hour, waiting for a chance to get control back or to perhaps relaunch Finder, I gave up and turned it off by holding down the power button.  On reboot, it would not make it past the startup screen.  I inserted the restore DVD that came with this Mac Mini, it booted from the DVD and I tried reinstalling OSX 10.6 from the DVD.  It proceeded to around 30% install and crashed.  I turned it off again, started up again form the DVD, and went into Disk Utility.  I verified the internal HD and it had no errors and nothing to repair.  This time I went directly to a restore from my TimeMachine backup.  (I had actually installed one new program today, and in case that program was the issue I chose a restore from the morning a few hours before that new program was added.)  The restore progressed to 86.6%, then crashed.  I saved the installer log to an external drive.
    I took a few hours away from it, but came back after a few hours.  I attempted to boot from the DVD again, and it would not get beyond the Apple sreen.  I turned it off by holding down the power button, unplugged the power supply, and searched online for around 30 minutes.  After finding little online, I booted from the DVD again, this time succesfully, and am currently running a TimeMachine restore again which I started after I began typing this entry because, honestly, when I started typing this I didn't think it would boot from the DVD again.  At the moment, the resotre is at 12.7%, but considering it crashed at 86.6% last time, I'm not too hopeful.
    Any thoughts or advice?  I'm not totally freaked out as I keep all documents on two external drives and backed up, in addition to having a 2tb TimeMachine drive with this system, all connected by fw800.  But... it's not like I don't want to get this Mac Mini working again.  It's from November 2009 an I don't have Apple Care for it, which I suppose means they'll charge me a fortune if I take it in.   (I'm grateful to have this 11.6" MacBook Air to work on.)
    Until Disk Utility told me that the internal drive was okay, I was thining I should try sticking a new hd inside and reinstalling from there.  Not sure what to do if this TimeMachine restore fails.  (at 18.5% now.)
    My thanks to any who read this.

    Thanks for responding.  I forgot to come here and delete this thread.  As it turned out, I switched from trying to use the OSX Install disc that came with the Mac Mini and instead used a Snow Leopard retail dvd.  That disc worked perfectly.  Pretty disturbing that the dvd that came with the computer would not work, while a store bought one worked.  Glad I bought a retail version of OSX to hackintosh a dell mini or I wouldn't havebeen able to fix this.

  • ITunes update failed to reinstall on 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium

    Never had problems before with iTunes update. I never had to do anything besides accepting the agreement, followed the prompts, and clicked "Finish" at the end of the installation. But the update that came 3 days ago failed to install, with a message to get the 64-bit version of iTunes even though iTunes have always installed to the same 64-bit OS computer. After countless hours of uninstalling and reinstalling, and registry clean up, I'm now coming up at 2 consecutive reinstallations with this error message:
    Could not open key:

    I have read other postings with identical error message but no answers either here or on the Apple's forum site. I will appreciate any help, workaround or whatever.
    Thanks.

    I also face the same problem installing it on my Window 7 Professional. Have you found an answer to this? Thanks.

  • [Solved] Toxic won't open and makepkg fails to reinstall it

    Hi there, this is my first time posting in these forums and I hope I'm in the right place.
    I use the CLI tox client Toxic as a method for secure communication with friends etc. and I haven't encountered a problem with it before today. I'm not sure what happened but when I tried to run in it my terminal I received this error:
    toxic: error while loading shared libraries: libsodium.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    I figured it was a problem with libsodium so I decided to reinstall it, but I still had the same problem. I replaced libsodium with libsodium-git and still the error persists.
    The next course of action I tried was to reinstall Toxic from the AUR. I use the git package so I typed:
    yaourt -S toxic-git
    The package didn't install however and I received this error when the machine tried to build the package:
    Makefile:56: recipe for target 'global_commands.o' failed
    make: *** [global_commands.o] Error 1
    ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().
    Aborting...
    ==> ERROR: Makepkg was unable to build toxic-git.
    ==> Restart building toxic-git ? [y/N]
    ==> ----------------------------------
    Restarting the build returns the same error, and the regular toxic package also will not build.
    I've been using Arch for a few months now, but I've never encountered a problem like this before. Does anyone know what I can do to get Toxic working again? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    I've never had to rebuild a package against a new version of a library before, so I'm going to use this as a good learning opportunity. I spent a good hour and a half searching various Arch wiki pages and forums, but I don't know how to do this. Do I need to edit something in the PKGBUILD file when I go to download the package from the AUR?
    The PKGBUILD file looks for toxic-git looks like this:
    # Maintainer: Florian Hahn <[email protected]>
    pkgname=toxic-git
    pkgdesc='CLI client for tox, a Skype replacement that respects your privacy'
    license=('GPL3')
    pkgver=0.r1134.efe61e3
    pkgrel=1
    depends=('tox-git' 'ncurses' 'libconfig')
    makedepends=('git')
    conflicts=('toxic')
    provides=('toxic')
    arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
    url=('http://tox.im')
    source=('git+https://github.com/Tox/toxic.git')
    md5sums=('SKIP')
    optdepends=(
    'openal: audio notifications'
    'freealut: audio notifications'
    _gitname=toxic
    pkgver() {
    cd "${srcdir}/${_gitname}"
    printf "0.r%s.%s" "$(git rev-list --count HEAD)" "$(git rev-parse --short HEAD)"
    build() {
    cd "${srcdir}/${_gitname}/build"
    make PREFIX=/usr
    package() {
    cd "${srcdir}/${_gitname}/build"
    make PREFIX=/usr DESTDIR="${pkgdir}" install
    PKGBUILD (END)
    I don't see any references to libsodium within this file though, so I'm not really certain what I should be doing to get to compile against the new libsodium v0.7.0 .
    If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would really greatly appreciate it.

  • Scheduling SSIS with Web Reference in Script Component fails.

    I'm using SSIS on an SQL Server 2014 to create invoices in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015.
    To create the invoices in NAV I use their Web services via a Script Component.
    The reference is added using "Add Service Reference" - Advanced - "Add Web Reference" all according to the Dynamics NAV documentation. Found here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd355316(v=nav.80).aspx
    FYI: You cannot add it as a "Service reference" but have to use the older "Web Reference"
    The package will run without any problem in Visual Studio but as soon as I Deploy the Package and try to schedule it the package fails on the Script Component with the error:
    "The binary code for the script not found. Please open the script in the designer by clicking Edit Script button and make sure it builds successfully."
    I've tried to run the package in both using the 32bit and 64bit runtime. I have also tried to copy the content of the reference.cs from the reference and added it to a new class according to the steps below. But I still get the same error.
    1. Open Script component 'Select all files' icon in the solution explore
    2. Drill down to webreference, and locate reference.cs file3. Copy the content of this file to a new class file.4.
    Delete the webreference5 .Recompile your code, save and exit6. Open the project to verify that the reference is saved.
    Environment information:
    Windows Server 2012 R2 64 bit (x64)
    SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition  (12.0.2000.8)
    /Fredrik

    The code builds successfully in VSTA.
    When I now try to deploy it to my "Integration Services Catalog" on my dev machine the package will execute without problem. When I deploy it to the production server I get the error. When scheduling on the production server I've created Credentials
    and a Proxy with my own user (same as on my dev machine).
    The production server has access to the web service that I'm trying to call (they are on the same domain network).
    I have managed to get rid of the error in one package using the technique below. But to me this just seemst to be a strange workaround.
