SMTP authentication error
I recently began the process of upgrading my dedicated hosting environment. In the process my MTA was updated to qmail from sendmail.
Using both Mail and Entourage I am getting a SMTP authentication error. Error: -17897 that states authentication failed because my email client doesn't support any of the available authentication methods.
Oddly though, if I exit the mail program and then re-launch it after several minutes, the mail will go through. (it takes more finessing attempts) at times)
Anyone have any ideas?
no email account was setup on the phone unless it was issued by your company.
gmail is required but no server address ports to enter.
my gmail account was setup before i took delivery of the phone but could have been done when phone was activated.
i added cox pop3 email and had to manually enter both pop3 and smtp servers with both boxes checked on both servers.
i doubt if it's a verizon issue.

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient’s email server. Please contact your system administrator.

xxxx.net was my server
and my customer was using messagelabs "cluster6a.us.messagelabs.com" to receive mail

Every time I launch Mail.app my server gets STMP authentication error
From my server STMP log file:
2015-02-23 15:48:57 plain authenticator failed for 77-173-xxx-xxx.ip.telfort.nl (mbp.home) [77.173.xxx.xxx]: 535 Incorrect authentication data (set_id=username)
For some reason Mail.app tries to connect to the STMP server but doesn't properly authenticate. It does seem to set the username but not a valid password so the log files on my SMTP server are filled with these errors. Even worse brute force detection automatically blocks the ip address in the firewall because of this after 10 attempts. It's not just me, many other customers that use a mac have the same problem (I notice this because they call me for not being able to connect because of the blacklisting by the brute force scanner)
How can I fix this? Why does Mail.app try to connect without proper authentication?No. You said to Change the authentication setting for the account on the client to one that the server supports. But I already have that. Sending mail works just fine, but for some reason Mail.app still causes authentication errors on launch and periodically about every 10 minutes

I have installed Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1) on Windows XP (SP2) machine at my home PC.There is a broadband connection on my home PC.I have installed UTL_MAIL package and then set SMTP_OUT_PARAMETER by the following SQL Statement.
My machine IP address is 192.168.0.3

Then we run the following script.

SMTP authentication in OCSR2 9.0.4.1
I am setting the smtp authentication in OCSR2 to true, after that, when ever I sent mail thru the server, it need the smtp authentication. I thought I had been successfully configure the server. But later on, when I trying to send mail to the user in the OCSr2 server(from hotmail mail), the mail was reject due to the error"authentication failed".
It seem that the authentication setting not only affect the mail relaying but also incoming mail connection. Is this true??I searched some more on the Forum and eventually found a whitepaper on PJC's in Forms 6i. That gave me the tip not to implement the IView interface, but just extend the VBean class.
That's what I just tried and no more classCastException. That seems to fix my issue. No to develop the bean itself... -
Apple mail authentication errors
I have a macbook pro with mavericks and I use Apple mail with gmail and yahoo addresses. As of the last few weeks I cannot send mail to certain addresses with small attachments without them being returned as undeliverable by gmail AND yahoo due to authentication errors in violation with DMARC policies:
Since both servers return similar errors I assume somehow my settings became corrupt but then I CAN send out the same email to most of my friends, just not to some and to those individuals, I can't send ANY email ever. Any thoughts?Make sure when you are sending the SMTP servers are set for Gmail and Yahoo.
If you were to use your ISP's SMTP, for example Comcast is my ISP and I can use my Comcast SMTP servers to send BUT.... This can cause my messages to bounce. As security is tightened, this is seen as relaying and a tactic used by spammers. -
Moved from DC to NC now smtp authentication with Cox won't work on roadrunn
I just moved from DC to NC. I have a cox.net email I prefer to use. Cox allows smtp authentication over other ISPs. I had RCN in DC and it worked perfectly. But now, with Time Warner (RoadRunner), it doesn't work. (Incoming still works fine, this is just about outgoing/smtp.) The smtp authentication is set up EXACTLY as it was in DC, but the connection just times out. Oddly, it works fine when I am connected directly to the cable modem. BUT, it does not work when I am connected to my wireless network using an airport extreme. I have deleted the smtp server a hundred times. I have selected SSL and unselected SSL a hundred times. I have tried no authentication. I have tried removing the "cox.net" after my name in the outgoing mail settings. I have reset the airport extreme to factory settings and set the network up again. NOTHING is working. Why would this work directly connected to the modem but not through the EXACT SAME WIRELESS NETWORK and settings I had with RCN??? Any tips/help is greatly appreciated. Oh, and all of my other non-RoadRunner smtp authentication accounts work fine. And my me.com email works fine.
Thanks again, Bob! Here is the error I'm getting for all three usual ports (25, 465 & 587):
CONNECTED Apr 07 08:26:51.776 [kCFStreamSocketSecurityLevelNegotiatedSSL] -- host:smtp.west.cox.net -- port:465 -- socket:0x116c00450 -- thread:0x116f54800

554 fed1rmimpo03.cox.net bizsmtp connection refused from 71.77.138.209
It looks to my untrained eye that the cox servers are refusing me. Is that correct? So I should call cox, right? And how do I find the IP address that I'm being refused under?
Sorry to be so ignorant, but your help is greatly appreciated! -

?>I have the same problem - user has Outlook 2010 on Exchange 2007. Mail goes directly into the deleted items folder. After browsing around the net I found 2 different site with the same potential fix. It seems that when migrating a user from Exch 2003 to
2007 (which we did) some of the configs get set incorrectly. The weird thing is we migrated over 2 years ago, and some others are experiencing the same after a long period after the migration. The fix that was suggested is:
Go to your Exch server, open up Exchange Management Shell and type the following:
get-mailboxcalendarsettings "domain/ou/user" | fl
set-mailboxcalendarsettings "doman/ou/user" -automateprocessing: Autoupdate
My user already had Autoupdate set, but this seems to have fixed it for me... -
Exchange 2010 Receive Connector gets 530 5.7.1 Not Authenticated Error
Hi All, I am using Exchange2010 SP2 with HT,CAS and Mail roles ( this is my test machine). I created a receive connector for Mutual TLS in which i have added remote servers with which i want to do mutual (Domain Secure Emails Transfer) and enabled TLS &

I hope this shall help you understand some thing. Do remember that i am using mutual (force) TLS with this client
whose domain is already in my send/receive secure list of TransportConfig. -
I try to send mail with a Javamail client code (you can see the code below), it works fine if the mail server doesn't require SMTP authentication to be relay, but SendFailedException occurs if the mail server security setting is set to SMTP requires authentication (same settings as POP usr/pwd) on the mail server.
I believe it is an issue of SMTP authentication.
How do I code for SMTP authentication with Java Mail API?
Thanks!

…And provides the “Send message using:” pulldown to
select one of two accounts (one is followed by
“:[email protected]”, the other is not). Both are the
same options the other two machines have, but neither
option works on this machine.
This is one of those error messages that they send application programmers to school for so that they can include error messages that don't tell you what the problem is.
After much trial and error, I discovered that this message is returned if there is an error in the recipient's email address. Perhaps, if it was stored in the address book, it became corrupt. I've found that manually typing in the address (without automatically finishing it from cache) usually fixes the problem. I just spoke to a customer this morning with the same error message, and entering the recipient's email address manually corrected the problem. -
R12.1.3 WF Notification mailer setup for SMTP authenticated relay
Hi,
I have to configure WFNM in R12.1.3. I was given an SMTP server ip address, an email and password.
1.Through outlook I am able to send that mails to gmail or yahoo mail through that mail id.
2. Tried telnet from concurrent manager server node (of course its a single node installation), it working properly. But I have to enter username and password in base64 encoded format.
telnet esmtp.example.com 25
220 esmtp.example.com ESMTP
ehlo esmtp.example.com
250-PIPELINING
250-8BITMIME
250-SIZE 255555555
250 AUTH LOGIN PLAIN CRAM-MD5
auth login
S: 334 VXNlcm5hbWU6
avlsdkfj ---> my mail id in base64 encoded form
334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6
lkajsdfvlj --> my mail id password in base64 encoded form
ok, go ahead
Now I will be able to send mails from my given mail id.
R12.1.3 feature says WF java mailer supports smtp authenticated login.
In Workflow NM configuration page, I tried the following options
1. servername
2. mymaulid in normal format
3. my password in normal format.
Configured successfully. But it is trying to send mails from local host which doesnt relay to external domains. Unable to establish an authenticated session with smtp.

RPC: Authentication error while trying to mount a remote cdrom
On my Solaris 10 workstation I configured the following line in /etc/dfs/dfstab:
share -F nfs -o ro,anon=0 /cdrom/cdrom0
and restarted the nfsd.
dfshares says that it is shared: undine:/cdrom/sol_10_606_sparc undine - -
Now when I try to mount it on another Solaris 10 host like this it is not working:
mount -F nfs undine:/cdrom/sol_10_606_sparc /mnt
nfs mount: undine: : RPC: Rpcbind failure - RPC: Authentication error
Both Hosts are JASS hardened. I think there is a service missing.
The following services are available:

This started after windows updates. When i tried to send an email thought an account that is connected to exchange i get this email. if i retry to send the same email, the second time it goes normally. This is happening on all emails that are connected to
the exchange. I tried to send emails though pop3 and they are going normally.
PS: Exchange 2010 with windows server 2008 r2Hi,
Does this issue only occur on the [email protected] account? How about other Gmail account?
According to the error message, it seems that, it need to turn on SMTP Authentication in your mail client.

UTL_SMTP fails: SMTP transient error: 421 Service not available
Hi!
I´m trying to set up database to be able to send emails by UTL_SMTP package.
I´m working whit Oracle 9.0.2.0.7 on Windows 2003 Server EE SP1
For this, I have searched a script of the many on the network. One like this:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE CASIUS.SEND_MAIL(SENDER IN VARCHAR2, RECIPIENT IN VARCHAR2, SUBJECT IN VARCHAR2, MESSAGE IN VARCHAR2) IS
MAILHOST CONSTANT VARCHAR2(3000) := 'server.exchange.test.com';
MESG VARCHAR2(30000);
MAIL_CONN UTL_SMTP.CONNECTION;
BEGIN
UTL_SMTP.QUIT(MAIL_CONN);
MAIL_CONN := UTL_SMTP.OPEN_CONNECTION(MAILHOST, 25);
UTL_SMTP.EHLO(MAIL_CONN, MAILHOST);
UTL_SMTP.COMMAND( MAIL_CONN, 'AUTH', 'LOGIN ');
UTL_SMTP.COMMAND( MAIL_CONN, UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_VARCHAR2( UTL_ENCODE.BASE64_ENCODE( UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_RAW( '[email protected]' ))));
UTL_SMTP.COMMAND( MAIL_CONN, UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_VARCHAR2( UTL_ENCODE.BASE64_ENCODE( UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_RAW( 'testpassw'))));
MESG := 'Date: ' ||
TO_CHAR( SYSDATE, 'dd Mon yy hh24:mi:ss' ) || CHR(13) || CHR(10) ||
'From: <'|| SENDER ||'>' || CHR(13) || CHR(10) ||
'Subject: '|| SUBJECT || CHR(13) || CHR(10)||
'To: <'||RECIPIENT || '>' || CHR(13) || CHR(10) || MESSAGE;
UTL_SMTP.EHLO(MAIL_CONN, MAILHOST);
UTL_SMTP.MAIL(MAIL_CONN, SENDER);
UTL_SMTP.RCPT(MAIL_CONN, RECIPIENT);
UTL_SMTP.DATA(MAIL_CONN,MESG);
UTL_SMTP.QUIT(MAIL_CONN);
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS THEN
RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(-20004,SQLERRM);
END SEND_MAIL;
I've reviewed the script many times and I find no error. But when I call it I always have this error:
ORA-20004: ORA-29278: SMTP transient error: 421 Service not available
I have done many tests. Although the most meaningful test that I have done may be the send of a message via telnet from the same server using the same parameters. It has worked!. This is the log:

Connection to host lost.
This test email was received for me, so I think is evidenced that the problem is in ULT_SMTP package.
And more specifically, I suspect that the exception raises on one of these lines:
UTL_SMTP.QUIT(MAIL_CONN);
MAIL_CONN := UTL_SMTP.OPEN_CONNECTION(MAILHOST, 25);
But I don´t understand why, All the sites I have viewed uses package of similar way...
Can someone throw me some light on this issue?
Regardsmaybe you find something in https://community.oracle.com/message/3560073. And I would recommend to think about upgrading to a current Oracle version, since 9.2 has been desupported around 2007.
