Smtp settings correct; outgoing email still not working

Every time I change providers, I have problems with my SMTP settings. I moved, had to change to AT&T. I got the recommended settings from AT&T, entered them for both incoming (POP) and outgoing (smtp.att.yahoo.com); port for incoming: 955; port for outgoing: 465; Connection security: SSL/TLS; authentication: no authentication & password (neither work). I called AT&T and they said everything is set correctly. I can RECEIVE messages, but can't SEND them. If I use AT&T's e-mail to send messages, it works - but T-bird still doesn't work. What am I missing?

  • E7 outgoing email will not work

    Hi All,
    I have been using my company email on my E7 quite happily until Vodafone (who my account is with) switched off their mail server. Since then I can receive emails but just can't send any.
    I was told to use the smtp settings for hotmail for my out going emails which didn't work. Since then I have tried using windows live, blueyonder, virgin, orange, yahoo, ovi and none of them will work. My email's just sit in the out box until I delete them.
    Does anyone know of any outgoing email settings I can use to get my email working again?

    You'll need to use whatever SMTP server the email provider specifies.  Some of the companies you list have special "rules".  I believe Hotmail uses a proprietary, web-based interface for sending and retrieving mail, and Yahoo provides POP3 and SMTP access only to paying customers.  So you might save these providers for last.  A few suggestions:
    1) Don't trust the Nokia Email wizard.  Outgoing email for my provider (Earthlink) doesn't work by default because the wizard supplies the wrong SMTP server.  Visit the provider's web site and verify the server name yourself.
    2) Also verify that authentication (username and password) is enabled for SMTP.  Check the details with the provider.
    3) If all else fails, discuss the problem with the provider's tech support team.  If you still can't make it work, go back to Vodaphone.  There's a slight chance they could be blocking SMTP access from your phone.
    4) If you're using Nokia Messaging, their real-time email "push" service, that could complicate things...but I doubt it.  My T-Mobile E73 has never supported Messaging, so it's an unknown.

    You may have a corrupt email preference. Open Mail - Preferences - Accounts (choose your Verizon account) and re-input all the settings and retest. If this does not work refer to:

    Please check for Outgoing email setting - 
    Configure outgoing email for a SharePoint 2013 farm
    For Host Controller Service error- This seems to be a search error, are you sure you are referring correct error from log ?. For this error you can try -
    - Please try to restart "Search Host Controller Service" from central Admin site -services
    - Restart Timer service at server
    - Replace node.ini from working server to your server  - as explained here -

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on           
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable              
    - Try on another computer                                                       
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Outgoing Email server not working for iPhoto

    All I want to be able to do is send myself hi-res images from iPhoto. It's telling me "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination." I have tried every combination under the sun.
    At one point it prompted me for an outgoing server and I put in the one from my phone...that was probably the wrong thing to do...but I cannot seem to change it, despite several attempts at setting up all my different email addresses and deleting and trying again.

    Would you please confirm what email you are trying to use with iPhoto, you still have not.
    Is it an iCloud account or from some other provider?
    it would prompt me to set up an iCloud account, which I believe I already have.
    To find out if you actually have an iCloud account go to www.icloud.com and try to login.

  • ICloud IMAP email still not working.

    I can get to my email via https://www.icloud.com but accessing it with Mail.app still reports that:
    "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “iCloud” or try again.
    The server returned the error: The connection to the server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” on port 993 timed out."
    I am experiencing this on 2 different macs at the same time.
    Anyone else running into this issue even though Apple's System Status page ( http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/systemstatus/ ) reports that "All services are online." as of 10/13/2011 12:08 PDT.
    This is an alarming trend.... .Mac launch fails; Mobile Me launch fails; now iCloud...
    Let's get it right Cupertino.  Are you going to let the folks at Google and Microsoft mock a 3rd failure?

    Mine stopped working from 10am yesterday morning (UK time) and I reset the password a couple of hours later. This still didn't work. I just reset the password again and it's all started working again instantly on my phone. Still to try icloud.com, ipad and macbook as they are at home but its looking good!

  • "send via email" STILL not working

    Hi community - I have seen this question asked several times but none of the answers given seem to apply to me.
    I am working in a Pages document. I want to send this document as a Word file to someone else. I go to the Share menu, click Word under the "send via email" header, and then...nothing happens. No email app opens, no error message appears, nothing.
    There are no slashes or unfamiliar characters in the file name. Both Gmail and the OS mail app are set up on my computer. What am I missing? I'm working on a brand new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a version of Pages just purchased from the app store.
    And please don't recommend just exporting it as a Word doc and then emailing the file - I know I can do that already, but the point is this very important feature isn't working.

    You would get the beep sound if you click on the greyed down "Send via Email". You have to choose which kind of document you want to send. But then again if it worked for you in the new account it can't be that giving you a problem.
    I once had a problem using  Pages. It worked fine in another user account but not in my original. Deleting the plist file didn't help, maintenace didn't help. Finally I uninstalled Pages/iWork 09 using Yvan's script from here. Then I installed my MacOS system (Snow Leopard) on top of what I had. Since the Snow Leopard system you can install a system again without erazing the hard disk. You might though check that anything important to you is saved on another disk or stick. Remeber to do the updates for the system
    I did the system updates and restarted the computer. Installed iWork. I have the iWork DVD. And I did the software updates too. Then Pages worked again!

    I reset all settings and it is still not working. My FaceTime that is. Also I have the latest update. That is when all my problems began.

    1. Make sure you are using the latest software
    2. Sign out, reboot and sign in again
    3. Make sure Date and Time is correctly set; Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    4. Make sure phone number or email address is correct
    5. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) until you see the Apple Logo

    My outgoing email suddendly stopped working.  Happened first on my IPhone, msgs were stuck in outbox.  This self-corrected, and now my Mac Pro will not send email.  It says server not able to send, but I can receive fine.  No changes were made.  Settings are correct.  Any ideas what's wrong?

    OK, I thought you'd like to know that I figured it out!   Yea.
    I reasoned since my iphone is now sending, I would check to see if the exact same settings in the advanced mail area were the same.
    The port on my phone was 110, but in advanced mail area on the mac it was 995/SSL.
    I clicked on that and it defaulted to 110.
    But what is strange is the 110 port is supposed to be for incoming mail (which I was getting fine even tho it had the 995 port) and the smtp outgoing I thought was a defaulted 25 port. 
    Anyway, when I changed the mac to the 110 port in advanced area, the mail in outbox was immediately sent.
    I have absolutely no idea how the port server was changed to 995 SSL on the mac, since no one but myself uses this computer and I certainly didn't change it.  Also, it doesn't at all explain the iphone doing the exact same thing a week ago, even tho that port said 110 when I checked.  Very strange indeed, but thanks for the help anyone who is reading this and I hope this helps anyone else having a similar problem....

    Try a couple of basic troubleshooting steps that can apply to any iPad issue.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Quit the mail app and restart. In order to quit or close apps - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    None of these things may work, but without more specific information, they are a good place to start.

    Contact your mail provider and get the CORRECT settings for the outgoing server to set up on your phone.

    It sounds like you are unable to access your email in the mail account becuase you are being told the password is incorrect, and you have removed the email account and re added it. I recommend starting by deleting the mail account as you had before. Then close the open apps on your phone:
    iOS: Force an app to close

    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.
    When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue by signing back into the account in Settings, and testing the issue again:
