SNMP Configure OnCommand System Manager 3.1 on FAS2020 Ontap 7.3.7

Hi, I have the to discover snmp after configure SNMP. Even I tried both trap hosts with my windows IP where I installed Oncommand system manager and the IP of Ontap 7.3.7. Can someone please verify which host is correct one? what is the requirement for SNMP configure. Thanks,Kevin.

Sorry, access for this KB is restricted. Then, check following point and fix them. 1. Check if SNMP agent is enabled.
   filer> options snmp.enable
If not, enable it by "options snmp.enable on"
2. Check if SNMP access is allowed.
   filer> options snmp.access
If IP address of System Manager host is not listed, set it by "options snmp.access host=<IP address>"
3. Check filer's SNMP community name.
   filer> snmp community
By default, "ro public" is displayed.
If you have modified SNMP community name, you need to modify registration on System Manager.
   Edit C:\Users\<username>\NetApp\SystemManager\SystemManager.config and adjust snmp-community
   element under storage-system element.

  • OnCommand System Manager recieves error 500

Good day, i am running OnCommand System Manager ver 3.1.1 on Windows. Today, for the very first time, i have seen this issue: i can connect to my 3210 running DataONTAP 8.0.3P2 7-mode, but when i try to reach my new 2240 running DataONTAP 8.1.3P3 7-mode i recieve an error 500 "connection refused". I have found this workaround: on the 2240s i have issued the command >options httpd.admin.enable on ;after this the OnCommand System Manager probably still tries a secure connection, on the console i see errors like [hostname: HTTPPool03:warning]: HTTP XML Authentication failed from MyClientIP .  But now i guess OnCommand System Manager falls back to a non secure connection, i see the question "do you want to set up a secure connection or continue without...", i answer "continue without" and i'm able to manage my filers again. What's happened? Maybe something java updates related? Thanks in advance.
    Alessandro

While removing newer version of Java and installing older versions probably fixes this in most cases, do you really want to run version of software that have known vulnerabilities in them? I think that companies like NETAPP, EMC, DELL, HP, etc, etc., need to be accountable for staying current.  They need to upgrade the applications regularly to stay compatible with the platforms they develop in.  The days of write it once and forget it are long gone.  The threat vectors have changed and continue to change on a daily basis. If I had machine that was dedicated to doing nothing other managing storage, network and servers, that never saw any portion of the production network and was isolated 100% from the internet, perhaps leaving archaic versions of depreciated software out there would be an option.  The days of doing business this way are also long gone. Cannot speak for everyone of course, but I don’t have the real-estate on my desk and have no desire to run up down the hall to my MDF every time I want to manage something in the environment.

  • Meraki Systems Manager vs Apple Configurator?

I see people waving around Meraki Systems Manager as an alternative to Apple Configurator for mobile device management, but it is unclear what specific advantages Meraki offers vs Apple Configurator.
There seem to be some very serious limitations, particularly with regard to backing up and restoring device images, as well as App pre-installation. The Apple Configurator stores all that data locally on the iMac's hard drive, and the images and apps to load can be gigabytes in size but transfers as fast as the USB 2.0 iPad cable can handle it.
Meanwhile Meraki claims to be wholly "cloud based", which means it is at the mercy of your Internet connection for downloading or restoring. I am not interested in dragging our Internet connection to an absolute crawl by repeatedly downloading the same gigabytes of data over and over for each "cloud managed" MDM iPad.
How is Meraki handling this, or does it just not do image backups and restores?

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone ( Gyrhead etc ) who has contributed to this thread.
Has anyone written a howto guide for Meraki or another MDM used in tandem with Configurator?
We are on year 2 of configurator.  We may now add another MDM tool.
We also share the WAN load concerns.   We do not want to drag our internet connection to a absolute crawl. LOL. They called it Skynet for a reason.    Due to our rual location our WAN speed is highly limited.   Using a combination of registry hacks and router tricks we force ios and windows7 and other tools to update only after 4pm.
FYI.   I've written a howto guide for starting out cold on Configurator. See below. Cheers,  J

  • USP (menu) - How to configure System management?

right now my System Management section has:
    Root Terminal (totally not useful)
Control Center (not that useful either)
    Lock Screen (don't need it)
I want to add things like Quit, Logout, Shutdown, Install software...
How do I do that? I know there are people using it

I don't see creation is indicated in the log. It attempted to created it then is says "System Management could not be created". It's one of those interesting things really. Why even try creating it? Interesting... ConfigMgr servers should not have access(create)
    to "System" container at all.
It is clearly defined here as how to create it
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633169.aspx. Use AD Users and computers, it's simpler
Click Start, click Run, and then enter
dsa.msc to open the Active Directory Users and Computers administrative tool.
Click View, and then click Advanced Features.
    Expand the System container.
Right-click System Management, and then click Properties.
In the System Management Properties dialog box, click the
    Security tab.
Click Add to add the site server computer account and grant the account
    Full Control permissions.
Click Advanced, select the site server’s computer account, and then click
    Edit.
In the Apply onto list, select This object and all child objects.
    Click OK.

  • Help me configure Change request management !!!

    Dear friends,
I am Going to Configure Change request Management, so just to ensure that the configuration is not erronous, i would need Expert advise..
Just want to know Clear few things before i proceed..
I am also refering SPRO and related notes
    Scenario :
I have two SYSTEMS SAP ECC 6.0 with System id R03 and Soluiton manager with SYSTEM id SOL,
    R03 has 3 clients, 300 600 700..
In R03 300 is the development client, 600 is quality client, 700 is the production client.
    SOL has 2 clients, 100, 200
With 200 as the production client.
Q.1) <b>Do i have to configure CHARM in both the client (100 and 200 of SOLMAN).</b>
Q.2) Initially I had tried to set CHARM in client 100 of solman, but later on realized that it has to be set up in client 200.
When i logon to client 200 and  Execute IMG activity Spro-> sap soltion manger->basic settings-> sap solution manager system->activate integration with change request management.
Then by default it take the previous client ( client 100) as the change request management client.
( as we know there are three steps in the above activity ), the other activity are executed properly, only prblem being that the default client is always set to 100, which should not be the case).
I do get the prompt saying ( "The change request clent is set to clent 100, do u want to change to client 200, on clicking yes, still it is always set the same client 100 as charm client ")
<b>Plz let me know what do i do to set the change request client to 200??</b>
Q.3) Regarding TMS, we have local domain controller in solman and local domain in R3.
We are planing to establish domain links between the two systems( ie both the domain controllers) ??
Is this the right strategy ??
<b>Any other method that u can recommend  ??</b>
Q.4)One of the IMG activity says, Generate Destinations to client 000 of all the domain controllers..
Whenever i do this these, destinations are created with errors, i am not able to create trusted RFC destinations without errors.
When i logon to satellite domain controler and excecute sm59 there are 2 destinations created Trusted and BACK.
    These destinations works well,
but when i logon to Solman, got to sm59 , when i test the TMW and TRUSTED rfc destinations  i test these destinations using Remote Logon i get error,
" no authorization to logon as trusted system"
I went thru one note which recomended Kernel upgrades to solve the problem,
I r3 my kernel relaese is 700 with patch level 56, the note recomends to apply patch 80, did u have these problems??
<b>what is your kernel patch levels in sateliite and solman systems.</b>
Q.5) TO be able to raise tickets from R3 to solman we create RFC destinations.
We also create RFC destinations to client 000 of all the sateliite system,
<b>dont u think these RFC destinations might interfere with each other??</b>
Q.6) Is there anyone who has successfully configured CHARM. Can you plz share the  configuration documents with me..
    Please note :
<b>All the contributors would be handesomely rewarded with points .</b>

    Hi,
    Check this
    Note 128447 - Trusted/Trusting Systems
    For your Q4.
    Q3.)
Establishing Domain link - That's the right way. Go ahead.
    These are the steps.
<b>1.Define Transport Routes for System Landscape</b>
assign exactly one development system to a production system, and that these two systems are connected by exactly one unique transport track. If a development system and a production system are connected by more than one transport track, this may lead to inconsistencies within the transport distribution. This type of transport configuration cannot be supported by Change Request Management, and may cause inconsistencies within the tools involved.
    <b>2. Activate Extended Transport Control</b>
The CTC parameter should be '1'
    <b>3.Configure Transport Strategy</b>
    Deactivate the QA Approval.
    <b>4. Activate Trusted Services.</b>
    5.Activate Domain Links.
You have to activate domain link between systems.
    6. Generate RFC Destinations to Client 000
    Hope this helps.
    feel free to revert back.

    Hi,
i am a beginer in SAP administration, users are getting this error message and i have done all my research and not able to resolve this issue. Here are the details

User creates a RFQ and when he tries saving it , seems like for the first time after either restarting the macine or restarting the service it might work and at time it might not, this is a very sporadic error and most of the times it crashes out with the message "sap system manager:work process restarted, session terminated" and kicks the user out of the session.
Below are the details of the error message from ST22 :
name of the runtime error : system_core_dumped
below are the details of the error message and its resoltion as suggested by sap help :

  • SLD - Logical System Management

    Hi,
We are implementing XI and we have the problem with SLD logical system management. The problem is that we use the same Logical system name (Ex. PRDclnt350) for all the systems to avoid running lengthy BDLS process when we hook our R3 systems to their respective BW systems.
Can you please suggest how we take care of this in XI -SLD landscape as it requires unique logical system names for each Business System when maintaining in SLD.
Can we have multiple SLDs and will it take care of the issue. If so can we take one of them as the master SLD and the rest as slave SLDs. What would be the best practices for synchronizing them. Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards..
    Haritha

    Hi All,
We opened an OSS note with SAP regarding this. Please see the question we asked and the response we got from them regarding the SLD maintenance:
    Hi,
We are on BW 3.5 and SAP ERP 5.0. We are implementing XI now. So we
need to configure SLD and register our Business systems. The problem is
we have the concept of using the same logical system for all our SAP
systems, say WRPCLNT750, when we are hooking our systems to their
respective BW systems. And in SLD, we have problem becuase of this, as
it recommends to have unique logical system name for each Business
    System being registered.
We want to mention some points in here about our landscape and some of
the recommendations we got from SAP regarding this. Ours is a very big
warehouse system and in order to avoid the lengthy "BDLS" runs, SAP
recommended using the same Logical System name for all the SAP systems.
Hence we are using the same logical system name for our systems.
So now coming to our problem, can you please tell us what would be the
best practice that needs to be followed now for SLD Business System
registration. How can we overcome the hurdle of NOT having a unique
logical system name for our systems in central System Landscape
    Directory.
Please let us know the solution as early as possible.
    Thanks and regards..
    Haritha.
    The Response:
    Hello Haritha
I have found some pass cases with the same question that you have,
however, the replies from developer are as below.
Logical systems cannot be duplicated within the SLD, that means one
Business System per Logical System name, both need to be unique, the SLDis working a designed here.
I would suggest you rename one of the copies of the productive system
    to solve this.
My apology that I couldn't provide you a better answer for this.
    Thanks & Best Regards

  • How to install forms 6i runtime using windows Systems Management Server?

    Hi,
Our clinents are using oracle forms 5 application and we want to upgrade to forms 6i ( client /server ).
How to install oracle forms 6i and reports 6i runtime in multiple client machines
using windows systems management server instead of installing one by one manually.
    Regards

Here is a quick summary on why this works...
    The Problem:
The issue relies with the method and logic that MDT’s scripts use to query and validate that the proper disks, partitions and storage space reside before starting the installation of Windows.
Essentially what you have configured in the Task Sequence and the UNATTEND.xml is analyzed by the MDT scripts then a validation is completed against the hardware in which you wish to install Windows
on and if there are any errors you will be prompted with MDT Error or Warning dialogs.
The problem is that the MDT scripts use WMI to query the hard disk, partition and free space requirements for Windows, but in the case of using GPT disk, the 2nd partition (MSR) that you have to create
is hidden. The class that WMI uses for its query can’t see the MSR partition so instead of 3 partitions, it returns 2 in the query results; hence why DISK 0 PARTITION 3 doesn’t work as mentioned earlier when configured in the MDT Task Sequence.
Although the above still confuses me as to why it works with DISK 0 PARTITION 2 since the WMI query results return PARTITION IDs 0 and 1 when it should return 1 and 2…
The Windows Pre-Installation Environment however does see all 3 partitions correctly and we tried configuring in our Task Sequence to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 2 and in the UNATTEND.xml
file to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 3 but due to timing issues of the way Windows installs with MDT, did this not work for us.

    I am trying to install 1.3.3 on Sol 10 u4: SunOS 5.10 Generic_120011-14 sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-T200
    by going to /mountpoint/Solaris_sparc/Product/installer
    and running "install".
    It fails with this:
N1SM Installer (version 1.3.3 on SunOS)

Failed Step: Install OS provisioning components.
The following is a portion of the installer
log which may indicate the cause of the error.
If this does not indicate the cause of the
error, you will need to view the full log
file. More information on how to do that is
    available below.

It looks like postgres is started by the script but it exits for unknown reason and the
installation breaks. Can somebody gives me a hint how to resolve this?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    draglev -
I had this same error with the same configuration. If SUN set up your box they problem configured root to execute a .profile-EIS. Modify root's .profile so that it does not execute the .profile-EIS. Then try your install again. This worked for me.
    Thanks

  • Snmp configuration on weblogic 10 has no effect

    SNMP in MMC(Mobile Management Center, A HP Product), use joesnmp.jar internal to send snmp trap generated by mmc app. This part works well in weblogic 10;
snmp in weblogic , configured by weblogic console. In weblogic 8, we configure such items:
    Weblogic Subsystem
    Purpose
    Level
    Deployer
    Monitor all war/ear deploy/undeploy/redeploy
    INFO
    JDBC
Monitor all warnings/errors in jdbc operation
    WARN
Current tests shows that the snmp configuration on weblogic 10 has no effect.
Due to MMC4.6 gets the Weblogic updated from 8.16 to 10.3, we didn’t find the configuration about “Enable JDBC Logging”. Below is the former config page about Weblogic 8.16.
But in Weblogic 10.3 we cannot find this configuration. We have followed the guide http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/jdbc_admin/monitor.html#wp1048793
And tried to set the appropriate properties on the command line like this,
    -Dweblogic.debug.DebugJDBCSQL=true -Dweblogic.log.StdoutSeverity="Info"
Actually we can get the DM, Core, SMTP, Bulk, Adaptor Class, and connection fail error messages in weblogic backend log, but seems Weblogic cannot send SNMP trap messages to SNMP monitoring tool like Openview.
PS. Weblogic can send out the SNMP trap messages when the server starts and stops.
So till now the SNMP cannot monitor the DM, Core, SMTP, Bulk, Adaptor Class, and connection fail for MMC4.6.

Hi, I am on 12.1 weblogic, and I am stuck on where you set the SNMP Servername and port number.
We are on windows 2008, I see there is a services, SNMP .
Is there something I need to do on the weblogic side before i get into the SNMP agenets and traps, this part I understand, I am just unsure where to add the SNMP Servername and the user I wish the emails to go to.
I see in the security realms the user i can add to the group monitors.
-->, I am running WL 10.3 and SNMP works fine. The cluster generates traps based on particular mbeans, such as when a server's health state is not "OK", or when there are JDBC connection issues. You have to create a new SNMP agent within the admin server then build the individual traps ( String, Gauge, Counter, etc. ) and make sure you have a Trap Destination.

  • OnCommand Performance Manager CPU Graphs?

All, Does the OnCommand Performance Manager CPU graphs report average CPU utilization or ANY load? Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi, As per the documentation: Cluster CPU TimeDisplays a graph of the CPU usage time, in ms, for all nodes in the cluster used by the selected workload. The graph displays the combined CPU usage time for network processing and data processing. The CPU time for system-defined workloads that are associated to the selected workload, and are using the same nodes for data processing, is also included. You can use the chart to determine if the workload is a high consumer of the CPU resources on the cluster. You can also use the chart, in combination with the Reads/writes latency chart under the Response Time chart, or the Reads/writes/other chart under the Operations chart, to determine how changes to workload activity over time impact cluster CPU utilization. Thanks
