SNMP information from Cisco 2800 ISRs
I have several 2800 series routers setup as MGCP gateways with T1 PRI connections to the PSTN. Does anyone know what MIBs/OIDs to monitor for individual DS0 and DS1 activity? I opened a TAC case, but it wasn't very fruitful. Basically I just want to know how many active calls per PRI, averages, totals, uptime, etc.
Hi, the MIB would be is this:
ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/ISDN-MIB.my
hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Collecting information from Cisco switchs using SNMP
Dear All,
I have a wide network with more than 250 sites connected using the DSL. the WAN devices are under the provider responsability and the LAN devices are directly in my responsability. In each site, I have :
1 or 2 Cisco switchs (2960 or 3560), connecting via fibr.
or
Linksys switch connected via ethernet cable
and
cisco 877 router connected to switch
cisco 881G router conected to switch
pc and printers
In order to improve the availibilty of our network, we lauch every day a script from local pc to test connectivity of LAN equipements :
ping to switchs (Vlan 1), ping to ip fa0/0 cisco router1, ip cisco router2, ping to HSRP address (of two router). the resulting ini file will be inserted in a database and exported to excel for analysing.
I'm asking if someone can help in order to implement SNMP and let me know the name of cisco MIB to implement to :
- to have from SNMP information, the result of show cdp nei, show interface status, show ip int brief,...
- to have if wan router LAN interface are up,connected
- others usefuls informations.
Thanks and regards,
AAHi,
the basic SNMP config for 2960 and 3560 is:
snmp-server community <> RO
The configuration for SNMP traps to get alerts from the device if there is for example a failure with a fan is:
snmp-server enable traps
snmp-server host <> <>
This enables all traps available with your IOS version. You can the disable not wanted traps by using the "no"-command like this.
Example for dot1x traps:
no snmp-server enable traps dot1x
With a snmp client you can then do a snmpwalk (or snmp get) without a specific OID to get all the SNMP information from the device:
On a Linux server the following command should work:
snmpwalk -v 2c -c <> -T <>
-v = use SNMP version 2c
-c = use the community string you configured on the device
-T = output in the dotted decimal format
But be careful, this will be a lot of data output.
Here you will find a docu for configuring SNMP on a Cisco device:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/configfun/configuration/guide/fcf014.html

MPLS CE support on Cisco 2800 ISR router
Hi all, could I ask you for some hints about MPLS CE support on Cisco 2800 ISR router today? I`m finding restrictions and recommendations for feature implementation. Do you have any cisco web site about them?
Thank you for your advice and/or hints.
PeterThanks for an answer. I need to use multi-VPN model on CE router, but with QoS on one physical CE-PE connection (e.g. Frame-Relay DLCI).However, all VPNs on CE router must be secured for each one. The solution is Multi-VRF service feature, but, however, with multi-DLCI model on Frame-Relay and QoS per DLCI. Now, I`m finding a scenario to provide multi-VPN model on CE router with single-DLCI model and single QoS per one DLCI for all VPNs. And that, MPLS CE feature on C2800 could be used, if possible.
So, I don`t know more about MPLS CE on C2800 and I don`t know make a result to propsed solution... -
I have a Cisco 4404 WLC that sends its system logs to a syslog server (kiwicat), but I'm interested in getting the snmp traps sent over there as well. I've configured the syslog server to accept the snmp on the right ports and I've confirmed that the syslog server can receive then by sending traps manually from other devices.
I cannot seem to actually get the WLC to send the traps to the server. the syslog stuff gets through ok, but not the snmp. I've added the syslog server as an SNMP trap reciever and configured it as much as it needs to be and the only difference it seems to have made is to add more things to the main trap log on the 'monitor' tab on the WLC. Am i missing something really basic?
p.s. the WLC and the syslog server are separated by a firewall, but the syslog rules have been altered to also allow the snmp, should it attempt to go through.
Any help would be gratefully received.Yes, I think the Network Devices need to be discovered first in order to receive traps and generate alerts.

Cisco Unity Connection 8.6 not getting CLID information from CUCM 8.6
Hello,
Currently Running:
Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.6.2
Cisco Unity Connection 8.6.2
Problem:
when any outside caller leaves a voicemail, the caller number information is not being sent to unity.
example, I call with my cell phone, 817.555.1234 to my Cisco 7940 phone and it shows the CLID information that i am calling with. iDivert to voice mail, Leave a message. Playback message and just the default message information from Cisco Unity.
we currently upgraded from CUCM 6.1.3 and Unity 5. before i could press 9 and get the caller information.
I have viewed the "Playback Message Settings" and selected "After Playing Each Message, Play" and selected Sender's Information. and also selected "Include Extension and Sender's ANI"
upon playing the VoiceMail after the message i get the default message "From Cisco Unity Connection Messaging System"
I also have the message relaying to my E-mail and I get the same in the subject line.
"Message from Cisco Unity Connection Messaging System (Unknown extension)"
This tends to be a big deal with the Sales team as customers will call and say "Call me back"
But any Internal Calls show the correct information, proper greeting, extension information even on the relay to e-mail.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
TimFound another post that referenced Cisco Bug ID CSCti37610.
CUC plays message is from Unity Connection Messaging system
Symptom:Before message playback, Unity Connection plays the message is from Unity Connection Messaging System instead sender's ANI
Conditions:Problem was observed on Unity Connection cluster and appropriate services are not rebooted after changing the SMTP domain name
Workaround:
Restart the Unity Connection servers
It should have been fixed in 8.5 but we did change the SMTP domain name on 8.6 and now see the problem. Will schedule a reboot and see if the issue goes away. -
Curious message during activation of snmp traps in cisco router 2800
I activated snmp traps in cisco router 2800 (I didn't specify a set of them, so all of them were activated). The thing is, when i configure "snmp-server enable traps", appears a message in the next line :
" %Cannot enable both sham-link state-change interface traps.
%New sham link interface trap not enabled "
Anyway, traps are activated and are completely functional.
I would like to know, why this message appears... and also what is the difference between informs and traps, because I can activate both of the in a router to be sent to the network admin pc.
Thanks in advance.Hi Marcelo,
the snmp-server enable traps command enables just all types of traps that the IOS version supports.
The message apperes because of this two, which are mutually exclusive:
R1(config)#snmp-server enable traps ospf cisco-specific state-change shamlink interfaceR1(config)#snmp-server enable traps ospf cisco-specific state-change shamlink interface-old% Cannot enable both sham-link state-change interface traps.% Deprecated sham link interface trap not enabled.
It's recommended to only enable the traps you really need.
Informs were introduced with SNMPv2, and they have the same format and purpose as traps.
The main difference is that traps are send in a hit-or-miss fashion whereas informs expect an acknowledge and will be re-send if unacknowledged.
Hope that helps

How can I get CDP neighbor information from access point reports in Cisco Prime 2.0
How can I get CDP neighbor information from access point reports in Cisco Prime 2.0? I have looked through all the reports and I cannot find a report that gives me the CDP neighbor information of an access point. I thought that information was in there, however I cannot seem to find it.
Thanks in advance!Hi
You can get this from an inventory report in PI (Select Report Type AP). Here is an example of PI 2.1 works for me. Once you export this into excel you can sort based on controllers & filter the single controller connected AP you want.

I can't retrieve usm and vacm tables from router cisco 2800. Help please!!
Hi, I'm doing some tests in a router cisco 2800 using snmp in versions 2c and 3. I configured views and communities for version 2c and user, groups and views for version3; I suppose that the vacm and usm parameters involved in the groups, views are stored internally in usm, vacm tables. I wanted to check if the parameters I configured were inside the tables, but when I tried to retrieve all those values through get table or get next commands, I obtained the answer "end of mib view" in the application I'm using (SNMP J MANAGER) and also in wireshark where the requests are sent but the responses contain the OIDs belonging to the tables but with the value end of mib view.
I know for experience doing the tests, that "end of mib view" is obtained in a response when you try to request a OID that is outside of the view being used by a community. But the last thing I did was create a community related to a view with access to internet included. Later, I used that community (comlectura) in version 2c to retrieve those values of usmtable (1.3.6.1.6.3.15.1.2.2 ) and vacmtable (inside of 1.3.6.1.6.3.16.1) and nothing.
These are some commands I configured in the router:
snmp-server group readonly v3 auth read readview
snmp-server group writeonly v3 auth write writeview
snmp-server view readview internet included
snmp-server view writeview internet included
snmp-server view viewcomlectura mib-2 included
snmp-server view viewcomlectura2 system included
snmp-server community comlectura view readview RO
snmp-server community comlectura2 view viewcomlectura2 RO
snmp-server trap-source FastEthernet0/1
I think the cause of this error perhaps is because these tables don't exist in the CISCO MIB, but I don't thinks cisco devices ONLY have cisco mibs (
1.3.6.1.4.1.9) inside of them, because I can make request with OIDs of mib-2 branches. Anyway, please someone that can guide me in this problem. Thanks in advance. You cannot use Mavericks. Ask a friend who still runs windows or any Mac OS except Mavericks to bring their laptop and help you out.
Or plug in a USB drive for instance and create a bootable version of any previous version of OSX since 10.5.x -10.8 all of which will work fine.
Or dual boot to windows where the latest airport utility is still 5.6 -
Migrating from Brocade 2800/ 3900 to Cisco MDS 9509
What is the best procedure from migrating from Brocade 2800/3900/12000 to Cisco MDS 9509 especially connected to HP-UX and AIX server.
Without any Downtime I should be able to migrate these servers.
I thought about these options:
1. Use vgexport and vgimport or exportvg and importvg (AIX) after connecting to Cisco MDS. But this requires complete downtime on the application.
2. Take one path down or HBA down and switch the cable and vgextend the devices.
Please let me know if somebody has procedure.
I was successful in HP-UX server using the second options but I cant see all the LUNs. That might be array specific problem also.
If anybody has detailed procedure on migrating this scenario. please let me know.
We are using Persistent FCIDs on our MDS switches.
Thanks in AdvanceAfter connecting 1 cable from server HBA to Cisco S/w, why you are not able to see all LUNs, did you cross-check that...I mean HBA Configuration (max 256 LUNs) or Disk Array library driver to be installed on host side.if that can be sorted out, you can mirror the volumes across the disk arrays.are you using HDS Arrays? I don't know but what is vgextend command you are mentioning...
also did you take a reboot of server or is it online addition on new LUNs...
Also any how if you are not able to see all LUNs that is going to be an issue later as well for migration...pls cross-check that... -
Cisco 881 ISR IPSec VPN Tunnel does not pass traffic from the vlan.
I have a cisco 881 ISR Router with a site-to-site IPsec vpn tunnel to a mikrotik device on the other end (I inherited this from my client). The tunnel is constructed properly and is up, however traffic does not pass or get routed to the FA4 interface. I see in my packet captures that it hits the vlan1 interface (vlans are required on the L2 ports) and does not pass to the tunnel.

What's wrong? Verify and compare Cisco 2901 config after loading old config from Cisco 2801
Hi Cisco Community / Friends,
I am new to this site though I have cisco account for many years. I am a CCNA ,I passed my certification on January 2013 I seldom use and utilized my skills on networking becuase of my type of work. I am Project Eng'r working in a System integrator company . Anyway, I would like to ask assistance on the configurations of my Cisco router for this gov't projects.. Here's the situation.
We have a new project for the VSAT Comm'n of Coast Watch Station , The VSAT was installed 7 years ago. The VSAT was only used for a year by this Gov't agency because of subscription issue. Now, they wants to revive and use their VSAT facilities for the Coast watch monitoring. Now, some of this routers are working up to now and for some site are already defective so I need to replace the old 2801 router with a new equivalent model which is Cisco 2901. My plan was just to load the old config into the new Cisco 2901 router. However, after loading it to the new router, I am a little worried because I've got some errors received. I load the old config by copying the old files, edit it in notepad, and load the config using Secure CRT (terminal emulator). When I copy the old config of cisco 2801 to new router cisco 2901 , below are the command not recognized on Cisco 2901. What's wrong ? What are these commands for?
Appreciate your comments and help on this matter.. Thank You very much
Note: I Attached the original config from Cisco 2801 and the other file is the config after I load the config file to Cisco 2901.

From Cisco's website:
The Modem Management Interface (MMI) is software that enables auto-provisioning for the Cisco 827 routers. The MMI uses a fixed PVC to communicate with the Proxy Element (PE) residing on the digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM). Using MMI, the Cisco 827 router updates the running image and downloads the prescribed configuration using a configuration file or configuration values in a provisioning information database.
The customer premise equipment (CPE) can be automatically configured using the Cisco DSL CPE download, but it can be configured only with the image provisioning feature.
So because this is your device, you don't want to use MMI anyways.
And "priority-list" is QoS. Probably that QoS-command is old and removed, because now QoS is configured using class-maps and policy-maps. -
Hello,
does anybody know if there's a way to get the following informations out of nexus 7000 and nexus 5000/2000 switches?
Environment/requirements:
- snmp v3 has to be used
- N7ks are configured with several vrfs
- SW N7K: 6.2.8a
- SW N5K: 6.0(2)N2(4)
- Prime Infrastructure 2.1
I want to see under Clients and Users entries about mac-address, ip-address, interface and vlan.
At the moment, I only get informations from N5Ks/N2Ks without ip-addresses. From the N7ks I don't get any informations.
Any hints or tricks, how to get these informations with PI2.1 out of the nexus boxes?
best regards

Trying to Download a Software Image to Cisco 2800 series router through TFTP Using the tftpdnld ROMmon Command
and I am getting an Error , I cant figure out what I am doing wrong. I have also pasted my display down here can someone help me out, thanks in advance, I am still new to this utility.
My questions are How do you direct this utility to point to the desktop or the TFTP folder
does FE_PORT: Fast Ethernet 0 imply or point to Fa0/0 on my router
My router is suppose to have 10.0.0.3 255.0.0.0
Gateway of 10.0.0.1 255.0.0.0
My TFTP Server 10.0.0.2 255.0.0.0
How do I get the MAC address of the Router or the TFTP Server and which one is required?
my Ethernet port is 100Mb/Sec I cant tell whether it is full duplex or not so How do i set this FE_SPEED_MODE: Auto???

rommon 21 >What I notice in the original post is this error
ARP: address resolution for 10.0.0.2 timed out.
which says that the router is looking for the 10.0.0.2 server but not getting response to its arp request. Can the original poster clarify for us how the device that has the image file is connected to the router that has the problem? Also what kind of device is 10.0.0.2? Is it a PC running TFTP server software or is it something else?

How Do I Configure A WRT54G to Work With A Cisco 2800 Router
I'm helping my dad set up a new network. He has a Cisco 2800 series router that connects to the internet via two T1 lines. From this connection, he supplies internet service to his customers. The router was installed and configured with help from AT&T who monitors the router and advises my dad if there are problems.
The Cisco 2800 is not my reason for posting.
He wants to connect his home computers to the 2800. He has one desktop and two wireless laptops and wants to use a WRT54G to connect those computers to the 2800 router. How should he configure the WRT54G to connect to the 2800?
Thanks! That's what I thought. So it is really no different than connecting the WRT to a DSL modem or cable modem as far as the setup goes. Good then.
Now, next question;
Would this network setup be correct?
Connect a 5-port switch to the 2800
Connect the WRT54G to the 5-port switch.
Configure the laptops to connect throught the WRT54G.
Connect the desktop (Ubuntu 9.10) to the 5-port switch via Ethernet cable (bypass the WRT54G).
Would there be IP conflicts or domain problems? I ask this because this is how his LAN is presently setup and he seems to be getting random connectivity problems on his Ubuntu desktop machine. One day it works fine. The next day it won't connect. Sometimes, even after he is connected, it stop works midstream. It also takes 10 minutes or so to boot up. The laptops always work without issue.
The two laptops would be issued IP addresses of 192.168.1.xxx but the desktop would be getting 12.83.xxxx.xx(something similar). The desktop's internet IP would receive its internet IP from the 2800 via DHCP just like the WRT54G is receiving its IP from the 2800. The two would essentially be on different LANs connected to the same router. Do you forsee any issues here?
Thanks! -

My Small Business Router has been sending me email messages. This is a RVS-4000 version 1.
I just want to understand what my Router is emailing me or telling me...
The last message I received from my RVS-4000 was:
Oct 30 13:44:09 - IPSEC EVENT: KLIPS device ipsec0 shut down.
IPSEC EVENT sounds important. Whatever it is... And what is a KLIPS device ipsec0 shutdown????
I have Log Levels 0-3 selected...
Log Level
Setting which level log Router should recorder. Level from 0 ~ 7 means:
0: LOG_EMERG(system is unusable)
1: LOG_ALERT(action must be taken immediately)
2: LOG_CRIT(critical conditions)
3: LOG_ERR(error conditions)
4: LOG_WARNING(warning conditions)
5: LOG_NOTICE(normal, but significant, condition)
6: LOG_INFO(informational message)
7: LOG_DEBUG(debug-level message)
So, when I get any messages... I'm a little concerned. Because the RVS-4000 thinks it's an Error or better.
What I would like from Cisco is the meaning of all level 3 or lower email messages my Router can send to me. So, that I can take the appropriate actions.
I know Cisco inhered these Small Business Routers. When they bought Linksys. However, they have not discontinued them totally and they are still for sale. And Cisco has released a new version 2 of the same Router. So I believe Cisco should support them as well.
Yes, I'm a pain to Cisco. However, I think you understand I'm being scared by my Routers messages to me... And would like some relief.
BruceGreat suggestions. Problems is this is not the forum for your "wish list" as Apple does not read these USER forums.
