Are you able to download other apps or other content in the iTunes Store or in iBooks? Is the app age restricted? Settings>General>Restrictions>Allowed Content>Apps?

Try this:
Open your iBooks app on your iPad
Select the Store Button at the top
Select Purchased at the bottom
You will see your AppleID on the right at the bottom, then Redeem, then Support
Click on your Apple ID, and when the AppleID window comes up with the options, Sign Out
Then Sign In again and try redownloading your book

Check your purchase history. See if it actually charged you twice.
If it did then contact itunes support for a refund.
No need be so over dramatic.

I cannot find an app that i had previously bought which should appear in the "purchased" section

Basically I had bought an app long time ago
recently I had just updated my itouch however it said I HAVE to reset everything. So I did and now all my apps and music are gone.
I know how to restore apps however the app i was looking for (Free Music downloader - something like that) wasn't there, so i searched up for the app and it said i have to pay.
I don't want to pay for an app that i have already paid for. It's not in the "Purchased" section of the app store. I don't know what to do! Help please.
Also i did not create a new Icloud account, i'm still using the same one i bought my app with

Like most other people who updated without the cloud, I lost my backup.

You should never update without making sure that everything is on your computer.
If your iphone is recovery mode, then everything on it is already lost.
If you are using your iphone as designed, then everything is on your computer, just sync it back.

Did the purchase go through e.g. does the game show in your account's purchase history ? If you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases (the most recent purchase is above the list). On your iPad you can only see a cut-down version of your purchase history (and optionally contact support) via http://appleid.apple.com
If the game shows on your purchase history but doesn't show in the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your iPad (you are looking at the 'All' view ?), then is it hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919 ?

I upgraded to iOS 5 and everything deleted. I went to iTunes, went to the Purchased tab, and got all my music back. But not my movies.

That is correct.
You only get one download of movies. It is your responsibility to backup your purchases.
Did you fail to transfer your movie to your computer before updating?

And if you're not sure which plug that is... you can follow the cord from your speakers to your Mac. Although, your question is just vague enough to imply that you may be trying to fix something or that you have heard of a potential problem. Why do you feel you need to disconnect your speakers?
