Software up grade issue.

Keep getting software upgrade error: The file “MobileDevice.pkg” couldn’t be found on the server “swcdn.apple.com”. Not sure if this is a simple hardware age issue or software re-load thing. Help would be appreciate.

Apparently Apple's SW group has their head somewhere it should not be regarding all the blogs and support discussions regarding the battery drain issue after the OS 7.0.3 up grade.
After every iOS update there is a group of users that report faster than normal batter drain.  Search the forums if you doubt that statement.
After every iOS update there is a group of users that report slower than normal batter drain (improved battery life).  Search the forums if you doubt that statement.
After every iOS update the vast majority of users experience no noticeable change in battery life and never post anything.
Drop the conspiracy theory and eliminate the ignorant statements.
Troubleshoot the device and the battery issues.  You'll find that it is not an iOS7 issue.

  • I have purchased Iphn 4s recently and since then i m facing issues around Battery back up, Software and even issue around hard drive. I have visited I store where they formatted my phone but nothing positive has happened. How do i escalate?

I have purchased I phone 4S on April 30th 2014. Since I bought this phone, I have been facing issues such as Battery Back up, Software and Hardware issue and hang issue. I had visited I store last month where they just formatted my phone. The issues were not taken care completely, even till now the issues are on. I would appreciate if you could help me with the right escalation desk for raising my voice to Apple team.
I have been using apple product since long now and never face such dissatisfaction in past

Hello, when you are having an error on your iPhone and going to the Apple store to get it taken care of, make sure you speak up and provide as much detail as you can. The first iPad Mini I had bought had errors on it, and I didn't speak up and provide further details on my issue.
Hope your issue gets resolved soon!

  • Software up-grade for N95-1 from ver. 11 to ver. 2...

    Hi experts,
Could you advice me is it safe to make direct up-grade of my Nokia N95 from S60 rev.3 ver.11 to ver.21? Or it should be done step wise - from ver. 11 to ver. 12 then to ver. 20 then to ver. 21 ???
    Regards,
    vasbas

    Hi all,
I put here my experience with software up-grade and some thoughts about new soft (after one week practicing):
Preparation for soft up-grade took me about three days - discussion on forum, reserve copying of existing content on memory card and on PC, read instructions on Nokia site, saving my installation sisx files for additional soft as Quickoffice and Goodlink.
Firmware soft up-date itself took about 45 min - for updater and soft update. No problems encountered! ) It was quick and reliable.
Quickoffice reinstallation was quick and troublefree! )
Good reinstallation took as usual few hours. (
After swithching on phone was with more attractive screens and fonts. I found very useful new feature as Search: My content. Quick access to all application and information on phone. Small problem - to initialize it each time takes about 5-10 sec - slow.
Another improvement - BT is more stable and connection do not lost when I changing languages on my wireless keyboard application - very useful - save you about few mins to restore Quickword file and keyboard applications again.
New menu is more functional and well though!
Today however discovered problem with Maps application. When I off-load it from phone memory (Exit command) - GPRS indicator is still presented on screen (as on hold - dashed) and no possible to make calls - gives Connection error message. Nothing helps only hard restart. After hard restart (on/off button) phone is working as normal but after second trial with Maps story repeated. (((
Last thing to mention - lock code after new firmware soft up-grade is restored to 12345 but not to user defined one even after back up data transferred back to phone from memory card.
All other settings as SMS, MMS, Internet, etc., diverts are restored to user defined automatically (from memory card).
Do not noticed improvement in battery power consumtion decrease.
    Cheers,
    vasbas

  • XP Upgrade Issues, down grade Issues

I did something that I am ashamed of. I installed the latest software onto my kids' PC without waiting for everyone else to get and work out the bugs. So I upgraded to version 7 iTunes. Since then we cannot burn a CD. Recognizes the burner in the adminstrators account but not in the limited accounts of the kids. Also does not allow downloading to the kids cell phones. So I down grade to 6.0.5 and get it working but I still have the same issues with burning and transferring to the cell phone. It all worked before, why can't it work again?
Nice Dell   Windows XP   PC One

    Talltenor,
Do an erase and install, for sure. It's totally worth it in the long run. Even my desktop looked cleaner after the erase and install . .. before, after an archive and install, my 'documents' folder icon was this CGA (remember that?)-looking thing and my dock didn't look transparent.
I would take it one step further and format my harddrive with the disk utilities on the leopard DVD if I were to do it all over again.
Also, don't transfer your account after the erase and install. That can bring a lot of preferences that don't jib with Leopard.
Install all of your programs one at a time. I think that a lot of problems are caused by programs people downloaded during Tiger and then forgot about having; you know, neat little shareware things like Alarm Clock programs, that are not compatable with Leopard. Even if they are deleted or not migrated, they may have adjusted your preferences or added preference code that isn't compatable with Leopard.
Finally, Leopard has an included copy of Bootcamp. I don't know a lot about Parallels, and it may be the program that best fits your needs, but Bootcamp is pretty neat! I just checked and Parallels works with Bootcamp - the program is able to find the partition you created with bootcamp.
    Good luck!

"Failed to download the update from internet. Error = 5"
The above is the error I am getting when running any ADR. The error is quite clear software updates are failing to download and Error = 5 being a permissions error its clear that the downloads are failing due to incorrect permissions applied to the download

Also, I do not have a patchdownloader.log anywhere, Ive checked all aforementioned locations from various sources and it just simply does not exist on my SCCM server. Here is my setup:
Server1: Primary server with all roles installed locally except the site database is on its own server. WSUS is installed locally here and DB is stored here.
Server2: SQL DB for Primary site DB
Server3: Secondary remote site running MP, DP, SUP. DB is SQL Express local.
So the SUP role was installed successfully on both server1 first and server 2 second with the site servers accounts. The SUP Synchronizes successfully and I can see a large list of updates available for use but not downloaded of course. I have set WSUS option
to store updates locally and have plenty of space at the target destination.
So here is my issue, I have been working on this issue for the better part of a week and understand the error code from the ruleengine.log to be a permissions issue. I have also proved this out but creating a test ADR with minimal updates and applied NTFS perms
to the target path for Modify with the everyone group (testing purposes only). The updates downloaded successfully. So this puts me right back to where I was, knowing its a permissions issue but not understanding what permissions are needed. Let me explain
    further.
The best way to start is to show what perms I have to the target location for downloads/wsus/sup anything:
Path: \\Server1\UpdatesAndDefinitions    (permissions being applied to the UpdatesAndDefinitions root folder)
SCCMAdmin (account used for most SCCM tasks except for NA) / Modify / Share and NTFS
Server1$ (primary site server) / Modify / NTFS
Everyone / read and execute / NTFS and Share
There are other system generated perms but the above three are the important ones. So hence my confusion I know that the SCCMAdmin account or the Server its self has to be accessing the target directory so why is it failing with a permissions issue?
My next step was to enable Auditing on the target path. Doing so revealed just what I thought and through me into further frustration:
A network share object was accessed.
    Subject:

Now I may not be the best I traversing through the mess of audit entry's and translating them, but from what I can see the two accounts that have the proper share and ntsf perms ive listed above are indeed the ones accessing the target location and the audit
code is success. I filter for failures and found no audits for failures whatsoever yet my downloads still fail religiously, unless of course I open myself up with the everyone group.
So next... I tried adding in the Network Service account with proper permissions, the Local Service Account, my user account, and all no go's.
Next... I remove the SUP roles from SCCM checked the logs for deinstall confirmations, and reinstalled these roles. No Go!
If anyone can assist I would be in your debt and very grateful.
Oh last note, but very important note I'm running SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4
    Thanks,
    Michael
    MichaelSpaulding

I just tested with the everyone group further; I added everyone with modify for ntfs and just read only for share and downloads failed!
I then changed the share perms for everyone to change and the ntfs to read/execute and poof downloads complete! Obviously change share perms for everyone leaves me open which Id like to prevent, so finding what account is being used is crucial.
I have already tried adding all of the SCCM accounts I use and the servers themselves as change perms to share and ntfs and have not had any luck.

  • MBP LED LCD Gradient Test - Software or Hardware issue?

    Hello!
I've noticed some of the discussions around the new MBP's LED displays, and some people having issues with not-so-smooth gradients in LCDTest 1.1 or 2.0.
My current, new, SR 15" MBP sports a darkish bar in the green area of the gradient, and a solid one in the red corner, when using the default color profile. That is, the gradient does not have all smooth transitions between colors. Switching to one of the (very blueish) sRGB-like profiles, the gradients display just fine and as smooth as they should. Weirdly, using the LCDTest 2.0's feature to display the gradient using Quartz, the gradient is completely smooth even with the default color profile.
As this issue also shows up in the color picker of applications such as Photoshop, where it is - in my opinion - prohibitive, and because I would much rather use a decently calibrated profile than simply a blueish-looking one, even considering that it is only a laptop LCD, my question, now, is:
Is this an actual hardware problem that can only be fixed by replacing the LCD itself, or is it possible that there will be a software/firmware upgrade published by Apple in the near future, to amend it?
(Note: I am not referring to the yellow-ish tinge mentioned by some users here, I am only talking about the issue concerning the smoothness of the gradient.)
    Any ideas or actual insights?
    MBP 2.4 15" Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I'll say it differently: I doubt we can do anything about it, because it's obviously a problem with the LCD technology. I think we have no chance to push Apple into using 1440x900 15,4inch LCDs from some other manufacturer.
After all, the specs say "support for millions of colors" and not "actually viewing millions of colors".
If you need a color-perfect working environment, you actually have to use a calibrated external display. You can never fully rely on any notebook LCD.

  • My Ipod Touch home button is totally unresponsive and idont think its a software but hardware issue, can anyone help?

My Home button on my Ipod Touch is compleatly unresponsive, i dont think its a software issue it might be a hardware issue, does anyone have a solution??!

It does sound like hardware and only Apple can help you.

  • I have a 2008 MacBook that suddenly is showing a dark screen. Would like to test this with an external screen to see if it is software or hardware issue.

Can someone please advise on cables required to connect to PC flat screen that is over 3 years old? Standard PC flat pan

The early 2008 MacBook has a Mini-DVI port for video output. You will need, therefore, a Mini-DVI to whatever your external display has.
A better test to see if this is a software issue would be to start up the MacBook while holding the Option key on your keyboard down. This starts into the Startup Manager, which is not software dependent. Do you see any video if you do this?
You may also want to try resetting the parameter RAM and if that doesn't do it, resetting the System Management Controller.
If all of these fail, you have a hardware issue. Contact Apple using www.apple.com/support/contact if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the MacBook in to an Apple retail store or service provider to ask for an estimate.
    Best of luck.

  • Marching ants when resuming from sleep - software or hardware issue?

    Hello -
My new T400 thinkpad works great except periodically when resuming from sleep mode, I get squiggly marching ant lines across the screen. I can continue to log-in, open apps, etc but the lines won't go away until I restart.
Does anyone have any idea whether this is a hardware or software issue? I'm running Win 7 Enterprise.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

This problem was fixed by disabling and then re-enabling the video driver. Updating the driver didn't work; it had to be diabled and re-enabled.  According to the technician the marching ants were a result of an incorrect refresh rate (it was refreshing either too fast or two slow).
At least that took care of the issue on my T400. Hope it helps!

  • HP C309g-m 3 in 1 Photo Printer - software re-load issue

I am running Windows 8;  I've used this same HP C309g-m 3 in 1 photo printer on a previous Window 7 system.  I've been able to use this printer for a year and up until this week, I've had no issue.  I can print documents, but at this time, I'm unable to open the HP Solution Center to scan documents or pictures.   I do not remember if I had installed anything new prior to having problems.
I rebooted both my laptop and the printer, the error message reappeared (unfortunately, I didn't capture a screen shot of the error message).  I decided to uninstall/reinstall the software.  The uninstall appeared to go without a hitch (I may not, however, have uninstalled the primary software first), so I put the software CD in to reinstall the drivers/software.   There is no option to install the software, only an "exit" option (screen shot  attached).
I went to HP Support and downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  I also used the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.  Both seemed to work w/o a hitch.  The same Install window for the HP C309g printer came up to download the software and drivers.  The download went through the entire process.  When I clicked 'Finish', an error msg came up (screen shot attached).
On a previous help topic, it was suggested to download CCleaner - I decided to do this, but I do NOT want to change my browser in exchange for using the tool, so I cancelled the download.
Here is screen shot of my Program list which shows there are 'empty' remnants of the software previously downloaded.  As you can see, the only software that resulted from today's reinstall is the HP Photo Creations & the Support Solutions Framework.
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

I have updated my steps to add in removing the USB cable, thanks for pointing that out.
Also, I am VERY happy to hear that the install completed and the scanning is working. I have not received a card for my work before, it was very nice to see that. Thank you.

  • Blackberry Desktop software destination folder issue

My company has created a personal profile on my laptop.  They have a preset limit as to the size of that profile.  When that profile size has been exceeded, I can neither shut down or log off my computer until I go in and delete enough files to get below the limit.
One of the folders in that profile is C:/documents and settings/rangel/Application Data (rangel in my profile name).
Well, when I install the Blackberry Desktop software on my machine, it automatically loads the software into Application Data without asking me where I want to save it.  Also, every time I connect my phone to sync, a file called Loader Cache is created and causes me to exceed my profile space.
I've already gone into the desktop software and changed the folder destination for my Backup and Organizer data, but it won't allow me to change the destination folder for anything else.
I can't just go into Windows Explorer and "cut and paste" these folders because the software won't find them the next time I connect my phone.  I don't know enough about the folders to just delete them and what issues deleting them causes.  Unfortunately, however, I really have no other choice.  I have to go in and manually delete the folders and then the next time I connect my phone, my profile space is exceeded again.
Does anyone know of a way that I can change the destination folder for my desktop software files (other than Backup and Oranizer data)???
    Thanks!

  • Most recent software updates and issues with XP servers

My company had issues with the June 2006 software updates to the Macs and resulting incompatibility with an NT server. I am curious if anyone knows of any issues resulting from employing the most recent software updates to Macs and any compatibility issues then arising with XP servers.

  • Printer software has caused issues

I would like to start by saying that I am fairly new to the wonderful world of mac, but very happy and excited to learn.
I have an older Imac with an intel core 2 duo processor, 12 gb ddr 3 ram, and a 1 tb Hard drive. OSX 10.9.4
I dont know why but when I installed the drivers for my printer (HP Officejet 6700)  I started to experience issues.  Naturally I have tried to delete the software to no avail.  How do I completely remove software is my first question.
It has caused some issues with permissions and I have used disk utility to repair the permissions but it isn't working either. This is the permission and it wont change.
    Permissions differ on “Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/Safari.help/Contents/Resources/inde x.html”; should be lrwxr-xr-x ; they are -rwxr-xr-x .
All the info is here.  I need some help to figure out what is going on.  Please help

It's best to describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible, rather than what you think is causing it or how you think it should be solved. The permission warnings are meaningless, and repairing permissions is a waste of time.

  • Captivate Software Simulation Audio Issues

My Captive 8 software simulation slides have been having issues with the audio right after recording. Before I even publish anything, my audio will end up being 2-3 slides ahead of where it should be on the slides. As you may know, when recording a software simulation, captivate automatically generates the slides with each mouse click and should automatically insert the correct audio on each slide. This is not happening for me, and it is very time consuming to fix. I either have to re-record and hope it doesn’t happen again or do a lot of external audio editing.
It’s possible there may not be a resolution and it may be a recognized (or unrecognized) bug in Captivate.  Just need to know whatever the case may be.
My initial gut reaction is to blame this on the latest Captivate 8 update… as I don’t remember experiencing this issue before.  But then again, I also upgraded my mac to OS X and that may be a factor as well.
I've had people suggest to add a blank ending to the audio to restart the audio timer on the next slide, as well as add a transparent highlight box at the end of the slide, but these are ways to fix it when the file is published. Since my issue is happening before publishing, I was hoping someone on this forum may have an answer.

PIP is available in Presenter Video Creator, not in the normal Presenter plug-in. It is not available in Captivate normal projects with extension cptx. You can insert a PIP in the TOC, but have to record it separately.
In Captivate HD Video Demo, extension cpvc (which is also a video creator with a dedicated video editor) you can insert a PIP in the editor. But again you have to create it separately.
The choice is up to you: an easy way to have both recordings together, with very limited editing possibilites in Presenter. Or the Captivate way, more work, better editor.
Afraid to repeat again: we are only talking about pure video now. In the normal Captivate files, that are based on slides, you can insert a video (like a PIP) and distribute it over slides, adapting the slide markers is available  in the Video menu. No webcam recording for the moment in Captivate.
