Solaris 10 (6/06) and default sendmail configuration

Hello,
I don't know whether this is a configuration problem or am I missing something.
Situtation: local user tries to send mail but sending is not successful to the
remote smart host. Mail is stored to /var/spool/clientmqueue with chmod 660
as defined in /etc/mail/submit.cf (QueueFileMode). Then the kind admin fixes
sending problems and tries to re-send mails from the queue with command
'/usr/lib/sendmail -q -oQ/var/spool/clientmqueue' but the messages are
quarantined due with error message '.... bogus file uid/gid in mqueue'
My fix: changing etc/mail/submit.cf O QueueFileMode=0640 -> sendmail
will send mails from queue without any problems.
Has anyone faced the same problem and is there another solution than
changing the QueueFileMode (though I think there's nothing wrong with 640)?
Why is the default value 660?

I was all excited to get ZFS working in our
environment, but alas, a warning appeared in the
docs, which drained my excitement! :
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1592/6mhahuous?a=
view
essentially it says that ZFS should not be used for
non-global zone root file systems..Yes. If you can live with the warning it gives (you may not be able to upgrade the system), then you can do it. The problem is that the the installer packages (which get run during an upgrade) don't currently handle ZFS.
Sigh.. Maybe in the next release (I'll assume ZFS
will be supported to be 'bootable' by then...Certainly one of the items needed for bootable ZFS is awareness in the installer. So yes it should be fixed by the time full support for ZFS root filesystems is released. However last I heard, full root ZFS support was being targeted for update 4, not update 3.

  • How Do I Create Default System Configurations for On- and Off-Dock?

I recently purchased a T510 laptop with WIndows 7 Professional 64-bit and a Series 3 minidock. I would like two create two default system configurations (namely specifying active montiors, screen resolutions, networking options, and power management). I'd also like the laptop to detect the presence or absence of the dock and automatically switch accordingly. How can I do this? Thank you.

        Dear DavidLeon65,
Good afternoon. I am sorry to learn of the difficulties you are experiencing with the bluetooth connection in your car. I know this can be frustrating. It would be my pleasure to address your bluetooth concerns.
When the bluetooth connection drops out, is the phone near you? Also, do you have Wi-Fi turned on? If so, please turn off Wi-Fi, then test. What software version do you have? For directions on how to check the software verison on your phone, click http://vz.to/SrMyDh

  • Configure NTP and sendmail configuration on T5240

    Hi Sun gurus
Can some one let me know how can i configure the NTP & SENDMAIL configuration on T5240 sun sparc.Your anaswer will be highly appreciated.
    Regards
    etc.

NTP is the easy part- do you want your machine to be an NTP server (that can serve out time updates to other local machines) or an NTP client (able to receieve time updates from a nearby NTP server).
Either way, it's fairly straightforward. For an NTP server- first you'll need a lower stratum external NTP server to use as a reference (unless you have a GPS clock on-site- in which case you can be your own strarum 1 server). You can look at the lists of available public NTP servers on [ntp.org|http://psp2.ntp.org/bin/view/Servers/WebHome] - check their usage guidelines- some server owners prefer it if you email them for permission before you list them as a peer to keep their traffic in check (or just use the ntp pool cloud).
Once you select a server (or a few servers) to use for reference you simply need to adjust your ntp.conf file:
    cp /etc/inet/ntp.server /etc/inet/ntp.conf
    vi /etc/inet/ntp.conf
    change the line
    server 127.127.XType.0
    to
server (IP address of the external ntp server)
    or
    server 0.pool.ntp.org
if you're going to use the public ntp pool
if you want to list more than one server as a peer, you can make additional "server" lines- such as
    server 1.pool.ntp.org
    server 2.pool.ntp.org
    etc...
comment out the "fudge 127.127.XType.0 stratum 0" line
    save and exit.
    touch /var/ntp/ntp.drift
(need to create an empty file for ntp to use to log clock drift stats)
    and enable the ntp service
    svcadm enable svc:/network/ntp
If you want your machine to be just an ntp client... do this instead...
    cp /etc/inet/ntp.client /etc/inet/ntp.conf
    svcadm enable svc:/network/ntp
Sorry but I can't answer the sendmail question. Starting the service itself is easy, configuring it is another story (and the topic of an entire O'Rielly book).

  • Sendmail configuration file changed

Recently sendmail stopped working in one of the solaris servers. I found that the configuration file has been changed. I guess it has changed to the default one. We dont have any idea hw this happened because we didnt change the configuration file.
Any idea guys how this changed?

Reverting back to the default one would suggest that someone has patched the system. Check the date and time stamp and go from there.

  • Solaris 10 on Virtual PC X-server configuration

I have previously installed Solaris 10 b69 and b72 on Microsoft Virtual PC. In those builds I used the Xsun server and kdmconfig to set the following configuration that has been working well:
Video device: XF86-VESA VESA compatible video cards
    Resolution: 1600x1200 - 65536 colors
    screen: 17 inch
monitor: multifrequency 64KHz (up to 1600x1200 interlaced)
Today I installed the 3/05 release and the above configuration does not work. Testing it in kdmconfig results in errors like:
    InitOutput: AddScreen failed for SUNWxf86.vesa
    /var/log/Xsun.0.log shows:
(WW) No supplemental Xorg Configuration file exists, use Solaris OWconfig file
(EE) VESA(0): V_BIOS address 0x36320 out of range
    (EE) PreInit done
(EE) Screen(s) found but none have a usable configuration
Now kdmconfig lets me set XF86-VGA 1024x768 - 256 colors. But that is too limiting in size and resolution.
How can I get the b72 configuration to work in the 3/05 release?

I did not have that option on the Solaris 9 install, but I did get the same results using a slighty different Video device:
Install Solaris 9 as normal and the default resolution as 1024x768 with 256 colors.
    (1) Upon successful boot, log into the text based console.
    (2) Navigate to the /usr/X/bin directory and run ./kdmconfig
    (3) Change the Video Device/Monitor as follows:
Video Device: XF86-S3 S3's non- VIRGE or Savage products
    Screen Size: 17-inch (43cm)
    Resolution/Colors: 1024x768 - 65536 colors @75Hz
Monitor Type: MultiFrequency 64kHz (up to 1600x1200 interlaced)
    Keyboard Type: Generic US-English(104-Key)
    Pointing Device: Built-in PS/2 Mouse (2 Button+ 25ms 3 Button Emulation)
    (4) Save settings and exit, then reboot.
Did this and it worked like a champ.

  • Permanently change default error configuration in Analysis Services 2005

    Hi,
Currently, I am working on a BPC 5.1 application.  The data for this application is loaded(inserted via SQL statement) right to the FACT table and then a full process is run for that cube via an SSIS package using the Analysis Services Processing Task.  Often records are loaded this way where a dimension member for some of the records has not been added to the Account dimension yet.  These records after loading are considered 'orphan records' until the accounts are added to the account dimension.
This loading process is used because of the volume of records loaded(over 2 million at a time) and the timing of the company's business process.  They will receive data sometimes weeks before the account dimension is updated in BPC with the new dimension members.
If I try and process the application from the BPC Administration area with these orphan records in the FACT table, the processing stops and an error displays.  Then when I process the cube from Analysis services, an error is displayed telling me that orphan data was found.
A temporary work-around is to go into the cube properties in Analysis Services 2005, click on Error Configuration, uncheck 'Use default error configuration' and select 'Ignore errors'. Then you can process the application from BPC's Administration page successfully.  But, the problem is that after processing the application successfully, the Analysis Services Error Configuration automatically switches back from 'Ignore errors' to 'Use default error configuration'.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to permanently keep the 'Ignore errors' configuration selected so it does not automatically switch back to 'Use default error configuration'?  Prior to BPC 5.0 this was not occurring.
Also, does anyone know why this was changed in BPC 5.0/5.1?
    Thanks,
    Glenn

    Hi Glenn,
I understood the problem but I can say that it was a bad migration of appset from 4.2 to 5.0.
Any way they are using a dts package to import data into our fact table. That's means they have to add another step into that package where they have to do the verfications of records before to insert into fact table. Verfications can be done using the same mechanism from our standard import. Just edit that package and add similar steps into customer package.
Attention you need somebody with experience developing DTS packages with for BPC to avoid other problems.
One of big benefits from 5.X compare with 4.2 was the fact that we are able to use optimization schema and aggregations for cubes.
Heaving that orphan records it is not possible to use optimization schema for cubes and you are not able to create good aggregation into your cube.
So my idea is to provide all these information to customer and to try to modify that package instead to enable that option which can cause many other issues.

  • Solaris 8 on Sparc and X86

Will I experience any problems connecting a Trusted Solaris 8 X86 systems to a SPARC Trusted 8 system? Will all the trusted features work between the two.
    Thx

I am using Java 5.0 to develop applets, but if I use
all the possibilities that 5.0 version offers (such
as enum) that means that clients viewing my applet
must have JRE 5.0 as well. Does that mean a very
    recent browser will be required?no.
I found which browsers support Java 5.0 on the page
J2SE 5.0 "Supported System Configurations" at
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/system-configurations.h
    tml
In short, what I take from there is that browsers
    required would be:
    - Mozilla 1.4+
    - Internet Explorer 5.5 (SP2+), 6.x on Windows
    platforms
    - Netscape 4.7.x on Solaris 8 on SPARC and x86
    - Netscape 7 and 7.1 are not offically supported, but
    should work
I have no idea how recent these versions are and
whether it is acceptable to assume that web visitors
will have these versions. I'd think it is almost safe to assume people have those, they're not that young. the question is rather "do they have the JRE 1.5.0?"

  • Class-Map and Policy-Map Configuration in CM Confusion

    Hi,
I'm implementing a green field WAAS deployment for a customer. We currently have a Proof-of-Concept up and running.
I've got some questions regarding custom class-map and policy-map configuration in the CM. I'd like to nail-down the custom class-map and policy-map configuration (and understanding) in the PoC before cutting over the PoC branches to the production WAAS environment.
Assuming a typical WAAS Deployment using WCCP for off-path interception, branch to DC.
==> 61 in LAN (BRANCH ROUTER) <== 62 in WAN        (WAN CLOUD)        ==> 61 in WAN (DC ROUTER) <== 62 in LAN
We are using two distinct device groups, BRANCH and DATA CENTER.
If the customer has traffic that we need to classify in order to provide TFO only optimisation, should the single class-map include the traffic in both directions? Ie., (assume the SERVER is 10.1.1.1 TCP Port 443). Should the class-map be configured as:
    Class-Map
Line 1: DST IP 10.1.1.1 DST Port 443
Line 2: SRC IP 10.1.1.1 SRC Port 443
Or in this case is only the DST line required? And in which Device Group should the custom policy be applied? Or should it be applied to both Device Groups? If it should be applied to both Device Groups, then would it make more sense to have the policy-map in the Branch DG configured to match the DST traffic, and on the Data Center DG have a different class-map match the SRC traffic?
My confusion is how to classify the traffic (SRC or DST or Both - Separate classes for each or different lines within the same class-map), and where to apply the appropriate policy (both Device Groups, just Branch, just DC) and why...
I tried to apply a custom policy and the impact in the PoC was that the TCP Summary report stopped reporting the individual traffic classes showed 'other traffic' only. Can anyone explain why this may have occurred?
    I hope this makes sense.

    for instance like this:
    policy-map police-in
    class class-default
    police rate 10 mpbs <optionally set burst>
    policy-map shape-out-parent
    class class-default
    shape 10 mpbs <optional burst config>
    service-policy shape-out-child
    policy-map shape-out-child
    class class-default
    queue-limit 10 packets
    int g 0/0/0/0
    service-policy police-in in
    service-policy shape-out-parent out
also have a look at CL 2013/2014 (orlando/sanfran) ID 2904 for more QOS details
and the support forum article of "asr9000 quality of service architecture"

  • Dual Boot Solaris 2.5.1 and 2.8

Is it possible to dual boot a Sparc Ultra 10 workstation with Solaris 2.5.1 and a more recent version (such as 2.8). If so please point me to some documentation.
This is required as we are running several pieces of software licensed against the hostid, that will soon require different versions of Solaris.
    Thanks in anticipation.

You should make an alias for your second OS location, for example disksol28.The easiest way to do this is run the format command. Write down the physical path for each disk you see. Your boot disk is probably c0t0d0 and the second disk, if you have one would be c0t1d0. If you are going to install 2.8 on another slice/partition of the first disk, write down that pathname, you'll need it for the nvalias command. If you are going to install it on the second disk then the alias "disk1" will probably work already, if you did not change the eeprom during install. You'll just have to:
    ok
    boot disk1
If you install 2.8 on another slice of your single disk then do not forget to include the slice in your alias.
If I asume your 2.5.1 is a flat file system (/ only, no /usr, /var, /opt, /export etc.) on slice 0 and swap is on Slice 1, then I can put another flat file system on Slice 3 - don't touch Slice 2. This OS can use the same swap Slice 1. To create an alias to boot from Slice 3:
    ok
    nvalias disksol28 <pathname from format goes here> :d
reset <- (locks it in to NVRAM)
    example:
    nvalias disksol28 /pci@1f,400/pci@1/disk@0,0:d
    reset
Note:Slice 0 is asumed in most aliases. For example if your alias ends wih disk@0,0 Slice 0 is assumed. You can also say disk@0,0:a to indicate Slice 0 but ":a" is not really needed.
If you are booting off of any other slice then it must be indicated in your alias.
    Slice
    0 :a
    1 :b
    2 :c
    3 :d
    4 :e
    5 :f
    6 :g
    7 :h
If you want to create an alias for your second disk (c0t1d0) with root on slice 0:
    ok
    nvalias disksol28 <pathname from format goes here>
reset <- (locks it in to NVRAM)
    example:
    nvalias disksol28 /pci@1f,400/pci@1/disk@1,0
    reset
Please write down any custom aliases because a Stop+n or set-defaults will wipe them out.
If you make a mistake with nvalias then:
    ok
    nvunalias disksol28
    reset
If you want disksol28 to be your primary boot device then:
    ok
    setenv boot-device disksol28
    setenv diag-device disksol28
    reset
    Good Luck,
    John

  • How we create custom infotype and how to configure with its subtypes.

    hai abap-hr gurus,
how to create custom infotype and how to configure with its subtypes. when i am creating infotypes i am not getting how to configure subtypes.
plz help me for this with an example code.
    thanks..
    kiran kumar

    Hi Kiran,
Please fallow the below steps to create the custom infotype. If you have any quires let me know.
For Creation of Infotype first Go to Transaction PM01, Enter the custom Infotype number which you want to create, it should be a 4 digit number and have to start with 9xxx.
then select the `Employee Infotype' radio button
after that select the `PS Structure Infotype'
then click on Create… A separate table maintenance window appears
then Create a PS structure with all the fields you want on the infotype
Save and Activate the PS structure
now Go back to the initial screen of PM01
Click on `All' push button. It takes a few moments
Click on `Technical Characteristics’. Infotype list screen appears
    Click on `Change'(pencil) button
Now select your Infotype and click on `Detail' (magnifying glass) button
Give `T591A' as subtype table & also Give `T591S' as subtype txt tab
Give your subtype field as subtype field & Save and come back to PM01 initial screen
Click on `Infotype Characteristics' … Infotype list screen appears
Click on `Change' (pencil) button & on New Entries
and then Enter your Infotype number and short text Here we have to set different Infotype Characteristics as per the requirement. (Better open another session with some standard Infotype's infotype characteristics screen and use as the reference
to fill yours). Now save ur entries
Now the Infotype is created and ready to use.
If you want to change the layout of the Infotype as per your
    requirement…
In the PM01 initial screen…Select `Screen' radio button and give
2000 as the screen name, then click on edit.
In the next screen.. Select `Layout Editor' and click `Change'.
Screen default layout appears…here you can design/modify the
screen..change the attributes of the fields..etc.
Save and activate. (Don't forget to `Activate at every level)

  • Default ZSH configuration is overriding PATH environment variable

After debugging why PATH is not getting set properly in zsh, I figured out that the default Arch configuration is overriding PATH.
The load order for zsh config files is:
    (Taken from http://shreevatsa.wordpress.com/2008/03 … shrc-etc/)
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    | |Interactive|Interactive|Script|
    | |login |non-login | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |/etc/zshenv | A | A | A |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |~/.zshenv | B | B | B |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |/etc/zprofile | C | | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |~/.zprofile | D | | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |/etc/zshrc | E | C | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |~/.zshrc | F | D | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |/etc/zlogin | G | | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |~/.zlogin | H | | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    | | | | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    | | | | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |~/.zlogout | I | | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
    |/etc/zlogout | J | | |
    +----------------+-----------+-----------+------+
Note that on Arch, it's /etc/zsh instead of /etc.
By convention, environment variables are set in .zshenv.  However, /etc/zsh/zprofile, which is loaded after .zshenv, completely nukes PATH, so no matter what I set in .zshenv for PATH, it'll get wiped by /etc/zsh/zprofile.
Does any zsh user have a workaround for this problem?
EDIT: That's not the question I wanted to ask.  I guess I can always source .zshenv in .zprofile, but that's so ugly... Do any other zsh users feel that this should be fixed in Arch's distribution of zsh?

Somehow I missed that during my initial skim though the bugtracker, but I found it now.
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/35966
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19924 (Gentoo had an interesting one too).
I understand now the problem is that (ba)sh doesn't have as fine-grained control over startup files as zsh.  There also seems to be personal disagreement about where PATH should be set.  Thus, setting path gets shoehorned into profile, and when that gets moved over to zprofile, things get ugly.

  • Default Role configuration  in CUP

    Hi Experts,
We are on GRC 5.3 SP9 and I am trying to assign  default roles based on the request type
I want default roles to be assigned only for certain request type
these are the parameters I have configured
    Consider default roles: YES
    Request Type: NEW Hire
    Default roles level: request
    user attributes: Company
So I am forced to choose default role user Attribute Company.
I was expecting that whenever a request is created for a new hire I wanted such and such role to be assigned by default!
but now whenever  a company( for which i mapped the default roles) is selected its putting default roles in all the request types
I would expect its only puts default roles for my request type NEW HIRE
    for the respective company !
Any thought? I am missing something?
    Regards

    Hello Alpesh,
SAP has come  back saying that the application is designed that way always works with the comibation of  user attributes
to me its clearly user attributes are taking over the request type ( clearly ingorning ) i dont see a point why they have field in default role configuration  for request type ( Request type  might as well be simply CUP)
they have asked me try with user attribute  as system  instead of company , looks like it works !
I will give you more info

U can also download SAP Exchange Infrastructure 3.0 SR1 Installtion Guide from the articles scetion.
    ABOUT XI :
If it’s just that you wanted to know more about sap xi....then the information below should definitely help you.
The best way to learn XI would be to make the maximum use of XI from its forums, weblogs, presentations, etc in SDN.
First I thought I will just give u the basic steps involved in doing any scenario in XI. This is very essential for a beginner.
First of all you would need to define your product, software component, business system and configure the technical landscape in the sld.
You then go on to create the objects in the repository, you import your software component here and then begin your design steps. To import your RFCs n Idocs if you require any before proceeding.
Then under the name space which you want, you go on to define your data types, message types and message interfaces.
Then you do your message mappings where you specify your source and target message types and the relation between them, then you do your interface mapping. If you are using a BPM, you do the integration process.
Once you have this done, you will have to move to the directory, here is where you define how you use the objects and how you configure them to work as a scenario.
You assign your business system to the configuration scenario which you have created, and create the communication channels. Then you go on to configure the receiver determination, interface determination, and the sender and receiver agreements. Once you’re done you will have make sure you activate your objects. The exact parameters steps depend on what kind of scenario you are implementing.
You can use sxmb moni or the runtime workbench to monitor the entire scenario which you have done.
Also I would suggest this link on SAP help for any info that you want on XI,
